Revolution HD or Virtuous Unity? - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi all, just curious if anyone has used both Rev HD & Virtuous Unity custom ROMS & has any feedback or a preference between the 2 before i do a full wipe once again just to immediately wipe again to go back to Virt. Unity. V.U is my fav by far but Rev HD sounds so stable & fast I'm gettin the itch to stray from my V.U. Just gotta have Sense 3.0. Thanks so much guys :')

I've been on both but once I tried virtuous I'm hooked. Its been the most stable for me. The new beta 2.3.4 version virtuous has is so smooth. I can't see myself going back to a 2.3.3 rom anytime soon

Thank u so much for the reply. I love love love my V.U. & can't see switching but i hear so much good bout Rev HD it got me curious. I'm still using v.1.31.0 & have been waiting for an update thru ROM Manager. Do u by chance have a link to the beta version ur using by chance? If not, no biggie, i can find it. And have u found a particular radio and/or kernel that works best for u with V.U.? And one last thing, u don't have to do a full wipe to upgrade to the beta version or no? Thank u so much again! :')

With the beta they're using a new base, so a full wipe is required. They're asking that you stick with the stock kernel during beta phase so they can track bugs a little better. I'm currently using 12.56.60.25x_26.10.04.03_M with the .0153 radio and getting awesome speeds and quick GPS locks

Whoops, i fogot to "reply". So read above, sorry. Ha!

I believe when upgrading to any of there roms they say in the OP - wipe=support - no wipe=no support

I think you can go to the vu website. You will see more details there.

Well if you backed up first it won't be too difficult. Pull your battery, then put the battery back in and boot to HBoot (Vol+ and PWR), choose Recovery, choose backup and restore, and restore to your backup.
Or make sure you do a full wipe (Factory reset, wipe data, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache) and try flashing the ROM again (but if it's a bad download you'll probably just bootloop again)
Or if you don't have a backup and the ROM still isn't working, then you need to get a different ROM on your SD. You can do this by putting the SD in a card reader, or booting to recovery, going to mounts/storage, and choose Mount USB Storage. Your computer will recognize it, put your ROM on the SD, select "Unmount" from recovery, now flash the new ROM
If you happen to have a PD98IMG.zip on your SD you're gonna need to get that off before any of this will work though, cause Bootloader will just continually try to flash that. Easiest way to do that is pull the SD until you select Recovery from HBoot, then reinsert the SD. Or else you'll need to get a card reader or another device that will read your SD, delete the PD98IMG.zip, reinsert the SD to your device, boot to recovery, flash away

Thanks for all the input. I did have that file so i pulled the card so i could get back into recovery & did a nandroid restore & deleted it. It wad a bad download too. So i downloaded it again from a different link & it came in 2 zips, one 390mb & the other like 10mg so i did a full wipe again & when i flashed it said cant read sd again & failed. Both zips. So restored again & here i am running great but w/o beta. Any suggesions?

(ROMWIP) Ava-FroyoHD ALPHA TESTERS ONLY

Alright everyone im proud to release Ava-FroyoHD
THIS IS AN ALPHA
NOT WORKING
DATA
CAMS
SDCARD
I messed up the sdcard for stability reasons. BACKUP FILES ON YOUR SD CARD AS A PRECAUTION. I have not lost my sd card files but its safety first
The fact that we have a wimax radio really messes with this rom. I will be going in to add/remove the wimax support to enable data.
As stated this is an ALPHA. This is not meant to be a daily driver in any way shape or form.
Please report issues here if you decide to test.
MAKE A NANDROID OF YOUR CURRENT ROM BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT.
This will give everyone a taste of the new (amazing) sense.
Install instructions
1.MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT ROM AND SD CARD FILEs
2. WIPE EVERYTHING. DATA,CACHE,DALVIK,EXT
3.FLASH THIS ROM
First boot will take awhile. dont flip out. it can take anywhere from 5-15 min.
Please enjoy testing this rom.
As of right now, im on the bar in whether to port the new sense to V8 or to continue the port of this gsm rom. Depending on what i find in the next couple of days will cement my decision.
IF YOU READ THE WHOLE POST AND UNDERSTAND THIS IS ALPHA. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
so just some info
This is not ready for fulltime. I hate releasing alphas but i have too for now. i will continue work on this tom.
Thanks for the support and at least you all can see what this thing does.
Please report issues, of course data is the top of my list but its always good to know everything so i can fix what i can.
Enjoy!
Much appreciated!
Will test later
Nice thanks will test later

Will test soon
Two things
1. Just my opinion, but I think if ur really unsure about the sense on v8, if its stable, I say make it an option, if anything
2. Isn't this rom supposed to boot in like 5 sec if its from the desire HD?
BTW I kno ur working on the wimax, but I heard u say add /remove it, are u saying it won't have 4G??

I am surprised that more devs are not working on this. Usually everyone likes to be cutting edge and bring the latest and greatest to the table.
To bad NRGZ28 doesn't do android roms. He was all over the latest and greatest on the TP2.
Well good luck Ava getting this done and I will definetly check it out when everything is good to go and will donate at that time as well.

ROM Manager

Hey I was just browsing the market and decided to invest in Rom manager (used it religiously on my old Droid 1). Lo and behold we don't even have a cwm listed!
What needs to be done to have some of these roms I see on this board listed in that App?
Thanks and sorry for the noob question. (We need a Q and A board.)

You really should've looked a little as it's mentioned a billion times, BUT...
Just install CWM for the Galaxy S i9000, works perfect.

You would want to check all 3 if it is your first flash, that way if something goes wrong you have a backup to restore, and the other two need to check because they are cache for your original rom, not the new one.
It's worth doing the backup of your stock setup.
Wiping the data isn't necessary unless you are a stickler about starting "fresh".
Dalvik cache wipe never hurts.

If you are coming from stock, you need to wipe all. It can cause issues, i have seen it. You get lots of force close, stuff that is removed from stock would still be there, which could also cause problems. Its better to do a full wipe when going from stock to a custom rom, and when switching custom roms.
I think I made a mistake, it reboot into recovery and I guess I was to wipe data and cache then reboot into cyanogen rom, but I did not wipe data and cache, Now it froze on me. What can I do, Did I just brick my phone?

Ok so your saying just reflash the rom AND the fix.zip? i have done that and still having a hell of a time doing anything through cwm, backing up rom, recovery mode... Stuff like that. Sometimes ill be screwing with my phone late at night and may or may not pass out holding it, also being so tired that i dont remembr exactly everything ive done, but i think ive messed something up. Im considering unrooting comepletely formating both SD cards and starting all over. Is that wise or is there a simpler way to "start over". Another random question, if i wanted to donate but dont have paypal is yhere another way to go about it? Or do i just have to get a paypal account? Thanks

Stuck Inspire 4G Need some info

There are many type of information all over the internet about my situation. But some sound similar or different. I'm not a developer or good at things like this. I've successfully loaded roms into my phones in the past. I tried to load ics which I got from android central. I currently have EXT4. I did not do a backup on my older rom which is HDREVOLUTION. I simply went into boot loader, then recovery. Wipe cache/dalvik, wipe dalvik and wipe data/factory reset. Then I loaded my ics rom from the sd card. Now I am stuck on the HTC Boot screen for more than 10 minutes. All I can really do now is go on bootloadeer and EXT4,but thats about it. I even tried going on download mode which I think doesnt exist within this.
Before all this. I use acehack to root my phone. It already came in with all the necessary tools I need. I did not back up the stock rom. I just loaded the HDRev rom. Ive been waiting for months for a updated ICS rom,but so far camera is still not working properly, but I just wanted to see what it would do to benefit my phone just out of curiosity.
Now I am thinking about going back to flashing the rom update from bootloader using the stock Inpspire 4G rom,but will I able to take out my micro sd card, insert it into my laptop and put in leeroid rom then flash it using EXT4? Or do I have to go back to stock rom w/ root?
download another rom and put it on your sdcard. boot to recovery through bootloader, wipe and flash.

Would you recommend any good roms for the HTC Inspire 4G that doesn't have a dead download link? Even the stock rom has mostly dead links only 1 is working, but its taking decades to download.

IceCold over at desireHD is the most solid ICS rom I found so far. Even here on inspire the three most solid so far that I consider are Melchizedek, AOSPX and Redemption. But try a few on for size and give them about a week each to really get the feel of them.

You're confusing ext4 file system with 4EXT recovery

yes you can use 4EXT recovery to flash rom just remember to do a full wipe before flashing.
1. Factory
2. Cache partition
3. advance> dalvik cache
4. go back
5. wipe cache partition (except SD card)
Flash rom and enjoy

IceCold over at desireHD is the most solid ICS rom I found so far. Even here on inspire the three most solid so far that I consider are Melchizedek, AOSPX and Redemption. But try a few on for size and give them about a week each to really get the feel of them.

The DesireHD and the Inspire 4G are basically the same phone overall. So we can use its rom on our phone. Tho some custom roms in DesireHD may require flashing InspireMod.05 after install of rom. But I dont bother with the inspiremod cause I have not had any issues with the roms.
The best Rom I have ever used is Virtuous Affinity. Not lagging, very stable, good battery life, sense.

[Q] infused rom help email forces closing...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220088
i did this on my infuse gingerbread (rooted) and once downloaded i cannot finish the setup process because email process force close's as soon as its time to use my email. what should i do?
Be sure that you follow the 4 main steps before you flash any ROM or PORT for a good flash:
On CWM (Recovery Mode screen blue or red)
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe Cache partition
3. Advanced>Clean dalvik cache
After this steps flash your rom then:
4. Advanced/Fix Permisions.
It works for me all times.
Regards,
How will I flash then if I remove all my data including root. Everything I wipe to factory it goes back to froyo non root. Do I keep recovery for the flashing somehow? And during the whole setup like connecting to Wi-Fi it's clean works goods no lag then email force closes there has to be a reason other than me not wiping to factory.. isn't that the point of these kind of apps.. why download it if I'm gonna spend the next 4hrs trying figure out.... I'm just gonna stop here with root. The rest of it is way!!!!!!! To much lol. You guys have at it tho!!

ok, stay in this thread I already request to close your other one ok, now lets start over what are doing and what have you done, and what rom are you on or trying to go to...?
just take it easy it is prob an easy, quick fix...ok
OK but I bet u get confused and quit lol. OK I'm on gingerbread. 2.3.6 rooted blah blah blah. Lol OK now once I do the infused download threw rom manager I get to the point were it's time to put in my email and it pops up email.process failed to start force close or something to that nature. Anyway after trying this one and Ics I now have a new bootanimation which was the point of the whole deal. Lol it's a suck one but hey!!

Why are you using Rom manager? I've only heard of bricks and problems from people using it...just download a Rom you want from xda, then boot into cwm and flash from cwm recovery by following instructions from the roms thread on xda
You may also just wanna try going back to stock through Odin/heimdal to fix your email problems if you don't wanna flash a Rom
Also what is the ics download your referring to? There are multiple ice roms/ports...you need to be as specific as possible on anything and everything...I always say better more than not enough
Also...just to clarify when you are in cwm and you wipe data/factory resetit only wipes your apps and system data...recovery is in the kernel which is not wiped...so if you follow the instructions of the roms op and do all the wipes then you can still flash
Good luck hope you get it all fixed
PS...bigjoe knows what he's doing as do a lot of us here...I don't think most of us,are gonna get confused and quit...as for me I love solving problems and trouble shooting so I know I won't quit

Lol...ics/ice cream sandwhich is a version of android just like ginger bread is and froyo also is-just wanted to know the name of the Rom...like cm9 or uniporn or miui etc...
But yeah download a Rom from this site and assuming you have cwm recovery boot into it (hold power plus volume up+down, as soon as it turns off and the Samsung logo pops up release the buttons) then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache, then install from sdcard, locate Rom and flash it.
