[Q] No sound after long sleep - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Happened a couple of times, if I put the down for a hour or so then start to use it again then sometimes it wakes with no sound and I have to reboot it to get sound working anyone else had this
sent from my LEE Pad Transformer........I wish

I've noticed that as well.
When i got my device it was actually in sleep mode - wasn't shut down.
When it first woke up - i had no sound. a Reboot fixed it.. didn't really get the chance to play with it much since (just happened yesterday).

Mine does that too

Hope thery are aware of this and we get a firmware fix

I have also experienced this a few times.

I've had this happen once. I have a long list of problems I've encountered. Now that my touchscreen is totally dead and no amount of rebooting will fix it, I'm convinced I have a lemon.

Any solution for this? I just got my tablet and it everytime I have wanted to play sound, I had to reboot. The reboot process is slow, I don't want to do this every time I want a bit of sound.

I've run into this myself after applying the latest patch. Thus far it's the biggest issue I have, and it's certainly an irksome one.

Yet more great service from asus had a pm about this problem going to provide some thing to log it as they cant produce this fault proves theyvare listening
LEEDROID GB3.0.1DESIRE HD using XDA PREMIUM

I have this problem as well. No sound after long sleep. Reboot would fix it. This happened after latest update.

Occasionally I have the no sound after sleep but a reboot fixes it.
Just another data point.

im in the uk and i have noticed that since the update yesterday this problem seems to have stopped, i know ASUS haven't worked on it as i have been discussing it with them via PM, is anyone else who updated yesterday finding this problem seems to have gone away

Another case: sometimes no sound after long (over 1 hour) sleep.

I seem to have this issue as well. +1 for a fix.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought it was worth it to say I have not been having this problem since the upgrade to 3.1. I will post back if the issue reoccurs.

Sadly, I have this issue, losing sound after long sleep. Seems to me that the only way to restore sound is by a shutdown/restart. Seems like Asus/Google can't get it fixed. I'm on ICS, Android 4.0.3, build 9.2.1.24.

If sound ever cuts out on me (It hardly ever does) Usually a mute and unmute, then a force close of the system vol control fixes it.

Keyboard lag

Has anybody been able to get rid of the keyboard lag that sometimes plagues this phone? Especially when texting
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I turned off the popup on keypress. It helps but it still lags. It seems worse when the message I'm typing starts getting longer.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I thought I was the only one having keyboard lag (among the screen not being always the most responsive). It's ridiculous especially when I factor in the random reboots (most of the time I have to pull the battery for it to respond, and the last reboot cause my phone to COMPLETELY reset...as in I had to set up everything again as if it was the first time I turned the phone on), and how it takes 2/3 seconds for the lock screen to kick in (when I press the power button to wake my phone it shows the screen I was last on before the screen locked) -- which might not be a huge issue for some, but I've never had this issue with any of my other phones, and the low ringer volume which really irritates me.
I have bleeding but it's nothing to noticeable and doesn't bother me right now because I dont really ever notice it.
I should receive a new one tomorrow and I'm hoping none of these issues are there
--- BTW, sorry for kind of going off topic. I apologize, meant no harm.
Yeah you are correct, the longer the message is, the worse it gets
I believe that I read that its a kernel issue
And to the above, what reason did I give them in order for them to trade it out?

I told the rep about the 4 reboots I had since I got the phone...which was 3 days before I called in, and how the last reboot seemingly wiped my phone and had me log in all my information as if it was the first timed I'd ever turned it on.
The rep told me I was his 3rd call that day for this issue but there were no notes on their system about problems with the phone or any updates to correct the issue(s)...needless to say, he sent me out a new one.
I will be getting it today. Hope it doesn't reboot. The bleeding I can deal with in all honesty, but if it reboots and the volume is as low as it is on my phone now I will have to return it for good and get another phone...and I don't want too.
Can you change the title of this thread to reference the gingerbread builds. Just so people don't get confused. This only applies to the leak gb and roms using it.

[Q] Brightness Reduced due to overheating!!!

I am very desperate here in regards to one issue that I have. My phone keeps reducing the brightness on the screen due to overheating. My phone is not even hot. The problem is that I can't even go back to full brightness. I have to wait for a while to do that. But then, I work a little with the phone and BAM does it again. Are you guys having the same issue that I am having?. I have the phone to maximum brightness with auto brightness off. I asked on different forums and no answer as of yet. I already exchanged the phone and I am still having the same issues with my second phone.

Replied as well in the other post.
Are you running widgetlocker? That seems to overheat the phones by running the cpu into the ground
No sir. Not running widgetlocked. Funny thing i just watched an entire movie that i purchased through the media hub and the brightness was never an issue. But here I am surfing and checking youtube clips and it happended again.
My god. It keeps doing it. I cant believe nobody has the same issue I have. 2nd phone and as soon as Frys has more in stock I will be getting my third. I love this phone and I will not give up until I have a working one. But if anyone knows of how to fix this issue please let me know. Thank you so much.
I had the same problem. Backed up all my data and did a factory reset. I'm not sure what app it was but I've heard widgetsoid & widget locker are the ones that cause the processor to constantly run at full power making the phone overheat. After my restore my phone was back to normal.

Well i just finished with the factory reset and as soon as I was setting my market account and downloading apps it did again for a few seconds maybe 5 sec. and then everything went back to normal. I am going to keep working on it and hopefully the issue will be fix. But the fact that it did it while downloading my fist app after a factory reset makes me wonder. But thanks man for answer me. Thank you. I will keep you guys posted.

Don't restore any apps yet or downliad anything. Just use it regular stock for a few hours and see if it heats up. If not its a buggy app using all of your resources.

I only have this happen while having my infuse mounted on the dash while driving. it happens when the phone is charging, screen cranked up all the way, using google navigation turn by turn, has bluetooth on, and is streaming music from google music. Haven't had it happen during normal use at home. The phone mounted on the dash doesn't help with the heat since it's being hit by such strong heat from the sun. I'm also using the barely there case by case mate and it is always pretty cool to the touch with brightness all the way up and wifi on. Don't know If that helps. I'm loving my phone though.

Had it happen to 3 inspires before I finally returned it. I have a buddy's phone who rubs perfect and he is on it more than I am.
Must be a bad batch of phones or I just had horrible luck.

Man, this is crazy. Still haven't fix the issue with the brightness and now I have an issues with flash content on my browser. For flash the video plays fine but the sound is playing like in slow motion. Uninstall flash and reinstall flash and still have the same issues. I starting to think that I have a lemon for a phone. 5 days and still Fry's has the phone out of stock. I need the return it for a third and hopefully last time. Oh by the way, I still have issues with the brightness.

Anyone experienced this?

Hi all,
Today while I was listening music and typing messages, all of a sudden the haptic feedback of my NS suddenly become very weak...
Weak as in the vibration was not that distinct anymore. It forced me to perform a reboot to make it normal again. Anybody experienced this? I have encounter this the 2nd time already.

I think you'd better write your NS spec. for example ROM, Kernel, etc....
Everything I use is stock
Android version : 2.3.4
Baseband version : i9020XXKD1

Has happened to me as well on stock and deck's t and u rom.
Rebooting fixed it on stock and flashing back to r worked on decks.
I've not noticed it on the Nexus yet, however I did come across this issue on the moment as well as the epic.
Just like anything the battery can only pump out so much juice, the more you run the less everything is getting. so if you have 100% of your voltage and 3 pieces of hardware pulling from it screen, cpu/gpu, and lets say vib, that means you would only be getting 1/3 of full power to each.
Its hard to say exactly what it was unless you were running logcat, monitoring power consumption, and other factors.
Now, the odds are its a software glitch.
yes ive also experianced this only once awhile ago i felt it while typing messaging all the sudden it was just like boom 5% vibration no clue why though
Yep...its happened to me many times. Usually a reboot always fixes it.
Its few and far between, so nothing to really worry about I would guess.

Now that you mention it i am sure i have had this a few times.... never really thought too much about it though
I've also noticed it, although again its rare enough to not bother me, and a reboot always fixes it. Just one of those little fixable bugs I guess.
thanks all,
good to hear this. actually its not that annoying cause this seldom happens.
after owning NS for 6 months this happens twice only so its alright not much of a big problem

Help! No sound after ICS update

I've been using it for 8 months without any problem (always have most updated FW). Now, since I've updated to ICS (OTA) last Saturday I have consistent audio problem - there is no sound at all (by any app). I need to restart it and get the sound back, but then after a while, it happens again. FYI, everything is stock, without root, etc.
Is it a known problem of the new ICS? Anyone has a solution for this problem?
Many thanks!
I noticed a issue with no sound. After reboot it works fine.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
same thing happened to me...asus used to be the only one who was good at updates but not lately...anyway, try backing up all your apps and going to settings and doing a full/factory reset. helped out mine with the sound issue and it hasnt happened since. see if that will work for you as well
yes, reboot or factory reset can solve the problem..
but now i cant use usb thumbdrive on dock, are u?
i dont have the dock so i couldnt tell you. usb to computer and microsd are working fine for me though
Happens to me about once a day, no sound (from media, notifications, anthing). A quick reboot solves it. I've already done a factory reset to try and solve the "reboots while sleeping", but that didn't fix either one of those issues.
mine was on silent mode after ics update something to check before a reboot, it is usually the simple things.....
A few reboots into ICS, my sound was gone. I rebooted it, and it came back. It happened again a few reboots later. Tried rebooting to fix it, but it never came back. I tried reflashing 3.1.1 again, still no go. I eventually caved and RMA'ed it on Monday. I had to unroot it
My sound has gone away twice on me. The first time was started a movie & there was no sound. I wanted to use the HDMI out anyway & I did have sound on the TV. Again last night I lost sound again & had to reboot. I never had this problem with HC.
more then likely its a hardware issue. its just a coincidence that u just upgraded. with everyone with a transformer upgrading, any problem that follows will be directly linked. I have speaker issues as u all described. I can push the bottom of my tab and my speakers cut back in once I loose sound.
get a bluetooth speaker or send it for Rma. I went with the first option.
I don't think it's a hardware issue (at least in my case) - I've never had this problem before ICS update, and the problem will go away right after a restart. It sounds to me a firmware problem; probably some conflict between the new ICS with existing apps
Honestly, I'm quite regret to have it updated...
I'm having the same issue too (intermittent loss of audio, returns after reboot) - definitely related to firmware/software, not a hardware issue.

Do a factory reset and cold boot.
You can't expect all your honeycomb apps to work on ICS without causing issues.
Avoid doing that reset + cold boot.
After two of them + several other tries, my sound keeps mutting.
Lets hope the update fixes this.
I too have this problem after ICS update. I noticed, sometimes after I put into silent mode, it stay muted until a reboot.
I do believe it is ics firmware issue, Tf201 get fix with lastest build so I hope Tf101 get fix too.
Yep, I get this as well. Shame!
Firmware related most likely. Mine is doing it too. A reboot fixes the issue. Hard reset won't likely correct the issue as I did a factory reset prior to installation. Possibly a piece of software causing it, but I am not going to mess with it as I only have 1 program installed.
After the update to ICS, my daughter's TF201 no longer has any audio.. speakers or headphone.
I've done the factory data reset and the data wipe. No change. Sadly, I have an RMA and hope they can figure it out. Before I ship it off, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.
Just another 'me too' post. I have 2 transformers in the house. Upgraded one (a B80) to revolver and lose audio a few times. Reboot brings it back. When it goes away, no sound from speakers or headphone jacks. Next time it happens I'll try and grab a logcat.
Haven't tried it on my older rev TF yet, I think i'll hold off a bit.
The B80 was wiped and done with a clean install. User apps restored via TB, but no settings were carried over from HC.

Frequent Reboot?

I just picked up my TF300 on Thursday and I've been having some frequent rebooting going on.
It seems like it mostly occurs when I open a newly downloaded app and start going through the settings. Everything locks up, then it simply reboots itself. Thankfully, it doesn't take very long to reboot. When I go back in to the offending app, it generally has been working fine.
The last few big tech purchases I've made (laptop, phone, etc) it seems like they've had a few issues at first, but eventually the bugs get worked out and I stop having problems within a couple weeks.
Is this a common issue, or should I exchange it? I have 27 days left to take it back.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
I had a 16G that worked fine. I recently exchanged it for a 32G. The 32G would reboot every time I went to use it after leaving it sit for some time (a few hours?). I did a Cold Boot (holding volume + power -- see google) and it seems to be fixed now. Try that.
Sorry, I didn't specify, mine is the 32GB. Thanks for the info, trying that now.

Mine became more stable after I got the .29 firmware update.
I had a firmware update when I first unboxed it, but it failed the instalation and it says I'm up to date now.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
Cold reboot doesn't seem to have had much of an effect. I've had three automatic reboots within the last hour or so.
Also, checked for updates and it says I'm up to date.
Edit:Just happened three more times while navigating around these forums. Plus one lockup where I had to manually reboot. Starting to think about exchanging it.

Mine also keeps rebooting, but i bought it in Edimburgh and now i'm in Spain, so i can't replace it.
I can't use the Asus SAT because i used the "unlock" utility. This realy piss me off
I've tried to unroot, reset the device, not overclocking, even a stress test with StabilityTest app (Google Play, i can't post links), and it keeps rebooting with no sense (attached log down there).
It has rebooted using GMail, watching videos through a browser, playing games... No pattern at all.
After last reboot i have disabled the sound and it seems to be stable, but i'm not sure at all.
My only hope is that the device become fully stable with a custom rom.
Well, I said before things were ok, but now I got home and the device turned itself off. I had to hold down the power button to start it up.
Same problem here in Holland. I have a blue, 32gb 300t (boxcode TF300T-1K129A) which reboots randomly. I own this tablet for one week now and it rebooted about a 30 times or completely freezes. Already submitted an RMA to Asus.
Edit: the RMA was rejected by Asus. They said that I have to reset to factory default thirst, so I did. 10 minutes later... another rebood. I wanted to report this to Asus but in order to do so I had to send a completely new RMA report. Really fed up with Asus I returned the tablet to my retailer and got my money back (no stock of the 300T). Now I ordered a Cube U30GT. To bad, besides the reboots it was a great tablet.
Been having similar issues but I'm in vacation so I can't really do much debugging. My tablet simply shuts down randomly when put in sleep for prolonged periods of time. It'll usually happen once or twice a day with no real pattern to it. I've only had it crash on me once while I was using it, and it wasn't while launching an app or anything in particular.
I'll try the cold boot but unfortunately I'm not getting OTA updates at all... I've rooted and changed the build prop, but I haven't unlocked it. If I can't figure out what's wrong I'll just unlock it and apply updates manually I guess. I know .26 is supposed to fix certain stability issues.

It's in the Play Store. Looks like it puts the entire system through tests. It will keep running until an error occurs, then I think it creates a log.
I downloaded it and let it run for a couple minutes but I don't have the pad with me at the moment.
It said some errors are found in five minutes, but it could take up to 5 hours to find one. I'm guessing plugging it in and letting it run for a while is the best way to do it.
I might run it sometime before I get a chance to take it back to Best Buy. Just out of curiosity.

Alot of people have fixed their problems with a factory rest. I had alot of the same issues and did the reset and now no problems at all. Worth a shot.
I've tried that and it still does it. I'm crossing my fingers that I just got a bad one and I'll be exchanging it tonight after work.

Just to update, I got home with my replacement tablet, and I've been setting it up for the last hour. I don't want to jinx myself, but I haven't had an unwanted reboot yet, which is a vast improvement over the last one. It also successfully installed the firmware update, which evidently, the last one did not do. So far a much better experience.
