After install the new OTA 8.2.3.13 and update for the dock. The dock just stop working!....plug the dock in for charge, no light or indicator show up, plug the dock in tablet, it does not do anything, won't recognize the dock. What going on??? please helpp!!!!!
Yup, same as me. Sorry to tell you that your dock is dead. I've worked with jrgbb and senior Asus techs to resolve - according to them, it is just a defective dock. I don't know...I think they need to look into it a bit more. I was told that Asus RMA dept would be contacting me. They haven't, and it has been 3 days. Yesterday I sent it back to NewEgg for exchange.
Good luck. Send jrgbb a PM and let him know what happened

It also happened to me. It won't work at all, but the pad would prompt me to do an update that will always fail. The caps light is blinking. It feels like it's just frozen. Is there a way to do a hard reset but just for the dock?
=( so there no way to fix it then

meatlocker,
When you worked with asus, did they give you the comands to manually update the keyboard using fu. I have not found the right parameters to get it to run yet and was currious if they tried that.

Unfortunately, no. The dock needs to have power to receive the commands from the pad. There is no way for the firmware or de-bricking update to get to the dock if there is no power. I know...it sucks. I decided to get my dock back to Newegg ASAP, rather than wait around for Asus' RMA dept to get back to me.

No, they didn't. They were pretty insistent that if there was no power, no commands could be sent to the dock. Rather than waste any more time, I just RMA'd the damn thing. We'll see how long it takes to get my exchange.

My man, dead means dead. No power. No worky. Plugging it in did nothing. No light. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
My tablet and dock just found firmware updates. The tablet went fine, and the dock froze the tablet. The caps light started blinking. I just removed the tablet, and it started working again. I have EP101-0209 firmware for the dock Is this the latest?

That's what mine shows after the update, which went flawlessly.
Since you were able to see it when connected over tcpip adb using dmesg. It really seems like either the firmware didnt finish flashing or its stuck and needs resetting. Sorry, I could get that utility figured out in time. I really think it would be able to reflash it.
Hey man, I appreciate you looking into it. See if you can still figure out how to get fu going...as you can see, there are others (and will continue to be, no doubt) that have this happen. You could have the answer.
really?? factory reset would work?
This is what I did: I let drain the dock battery completely. I did a factory reset. Restore my accounts and then connected the tablet to the dock with the ac adapter connected to the dock. The dock started working again. The one problem that I found was that it would prompt me to do the firmware update for the dock, but by selecting it, it would brick the dock again. What i did was to restore the old firmware from the ASUS website and that took care of it. The only strange thing is that my tablet won't find today's OTA anymore. So for now I'm stuck with the original ROM, but at least my dock is functional.

shoot, my dock is coming on Monday and my transformer has the latest OTA update. What should I do? Wait for another update or use it with this firmware and risk freezing my dock? :$
Help would very much be appreciated

I don't know dude, but it happened to me. It may not happen to you. Now I wonder if my tablet can't find the new OTA because ASUS took it down due to these issues.

@ Calin - same, but my TF would not boot past the second Asus boot logo when the dead dock was still attached, regardless of which firmware was on the pad. Once I seperated them, it went right to the login screen. So it was impossible to ever get a command to the dock whatsoever.
@ Joseph - by in large, the update seems to be overwhelmingly positive for the majority of people. I don't think you have much to worry about. Just make sure that you are prompted for both the pad firmware update as well as the dock (once it is connected).

Mine was delivered today at my house. Its sitting there waiting for me to get home.....
I ordered it today. It's going to be my first tablet so I'm looking forward to test it!
Got it yesterday. Yay $4 overnight prime shipping. Had it rooted within a few hours and set up the way I enjoyed my Tab 10.1. Little frustrated that my 64gb card is no good in it yet but I'll hold out hope for a patch to repair that problem. In the meantime I can use that in my phone and let the tablet have the 32gb sdhc card.

LMAO! I've been rolling with that on another message board for a month now. You're the first to observe that :silly:
Just got mine from newegg today.......broken! Worst part is the shipping box was undamaged, only the retail packaging was dented. So newegg knowingly shipped out a broken POS. Sorry need to vent some. Now won't ship out until tomorrow and will receive on Monday! Monday, I can't wait that long. Already been waiting forever.
And I had to fight to get a replacement before I returned the broken one. I used to sing neweggs praises up until this point, not anymore.....

Mine came in from Amazon this morning. First impressions:
- WOOT!
- Well built, no screen flexing.
- ZOMG fingerprints!
- Screen looks amazing.
- Swype like keyboard; I like it.
Only issue I've had so far is when trying to copy a large file from my work PC. It would start the transfer and just hang.

I used the method on this page with some effort:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
1 - I didn't use the drivers there cause I just couldn't get windows to recognize them. Instead I installed the Asus Sync off their page and that put the drivers on. (you can get that here under "utilities".
However, if you use that approach the adb.exe it uses causes problems. Some people say if you end Asus Sync in task manager that'll work. I just replaced the adb.exe in the Asus Sync install folder with the one included in the rooting package above.
2 - Some people have had problems (including me) where the .bat script kept going even though the tablet wasn't done rebooting. To fix this, edit the .bat script anywhere it says "@adb wait-for-device" after the line "ECHO Step 1 - Pushing files..." and add a line under it that just says "pause". This'll make it wait for you to tell it to go ahead and you can make sure the device is fully rebooted each time before it tries to continue.
After those headaches I was free and clear. Hope that helps, I'm only fair to middling at this stuff myself.
Mine was delivered from bestbuy today.
Just getting setup so far pretty impressed
Got my Infinity yesterday and sold my prime today. The infinity screen is really nice. I compared it with my Prime and the difference in text was readily apparent. I read a couple of comics on it and they appeared sharper than they had on the prime also. The infinity also loaded websites about 3 or 4 seconds faster than my prime did. I tested this on several websites and it was consistently faster. The build quality on mine was fine also.
I happened to go by Sams Club today and got to check out a google nexus 7 also. It was really nice but I really prefer the 10 inch size since a big part of my tablet use is reading comics. Can't wait til jelly bean arrives for the Infinity. Mine is pretty smooth already but the nexus 7 was "buttery" smooth.
Got mine today from Newegg and love it. I had a Prime back in February, but had to return it after a few weeks. Too many issues with that, but the Infinity is an absolute blast to use. Screen is awesome

I also used this rooting method with success.
I did not have the same experience as above however. First, I downloaded the ASUS Sync install, installed the pre-requisites (which include the Android USB Drivers), then cancelled the installation of the Sync app. Then I just ran the .bat file in the 1.9 root release.
I'm sure its a little pre-mature since it just came out here in the U.S. yesterday but, has anyone heard anything about the tf700 getting the bootloader unlocking tool? My tf700 is on its way here now, and all thought I'm sure its great stock, I have to have my custom rom's.

I remember the Prime got it in about a month. The forums were flipping out though, they couldn't handle not having it yet, so Asus put it out there.
I came here to ask if the bootloader is locked. This makes me sad. I'm not willing to lose my hardware warranty to flash roms. This, plus the lack of micro-usb and the use of nvidia will force me to buy something else.
It's a shame, the tablet is amazing in every other way.

His issue is more that the warranty is voided than it shipping locked. To which I agree with him, but its not a dealbreaker since literally the only devices that DONT do that are the Nexus devices.

If your willing to spend a extra $60, buy a squaretrade warranty for two years. Everything is covered, even if you drop it in a pool. On something this expensive, $60 for two years of awesome insurance is pretty cheap. They don't mind a unlocked bootloader either.
ASUS's statement is that you MAY lose your warranty after doing this, not that you WILL. In this respect they don't diverge much from HTC or - I believe - Samsung (not that I'm ASUS's fanboy, just saying). Search xda forums, there was a bunch of people who got their Primes fixed on warranty's conditions after unlocking, rooting and going into a bootloop.
I have never seen a confirmed case of a mfr denying hardware warranty for rooting, unlocking or flashing roms. I've returned/rma'd several defective devices with one or more of those attributes. Now if you brick it flashing then all bets are off.
Also, so you don't like nvidia, cant live with propritary usb connector(micro usb can't charge this baby anyway), and cant deal with unlocking bootloader. Just exactly what tablet are you going to buy that doesnt have any of those issues and isn't 49.99 from china?
Microusb charges tablets just fine. My touch pad, for example, has it.

Like everyone is saying, You can still get warranty service for hardware issues even if your unlocked. The only downside to unlocking is ASUS won't give your tablet OTA updates, but you can still download and flash the firmware from the asus support website. And chances are if you're unlocked, you're not using the stock firmware.
I think asus has to use their own proprietary plug that to make it work with the dock. You are still given a cable which plugs into your transformer on one end and into a usb port on the other end, so so lack of microusb is really a non-issue.
Don't understand what's wrong with Nvidia, most of the issues so far seem to be software related. Tegra also comes with some nice bells and whistles.

I assume the power throughput needed to charge the two relatively large batteries at once pretty much excludes microUSB charging cables (which use standardized maximum power on the pins). For smaller battery capacity, less-capable tablets, such as, with all respect, your TouchPad, it's indeed fine. What are you waiting for, if I may ask? Till, somewhere, somehow, ASUS decides to heed your lonely call for microUSB and ditches it on newer iterations (or units) of the Infinity? Just kidding, obviously, but the question still stand, especially when you couple it to the (pretty much sure-fire near-)future availability of the unlocked bootloader.

I know the warning says otherwise, but people have still managed to get their ulocked transformers fixed. Either asus has somehow decided to still do hardware repairs, or the warranty centers put off checking the devices. I personally wouldn't count on it. Make sure your transformer is issue free before unlocking, and don't send it in just because you bricked it.(which shouldn't be possible unless you tried to overwrite the bootloader and lost fastboot)
I'm just saying the odds are if your unlocked, you're still going to get warranty service.
---noob warning---
Since no bootloader unlocking tool is available, does that mean I can't even flash a stock rom?

Thanks for your reply, and for the write-up you did in the other thread.
I had already read it when I posted here but it isn't clear to me - probably my bad, I'm used to flashing my Samsung Galaxy S (1&3) but I've never done it on a tablet and it seems different. I haven't found any clear instructions on doing so for the TPI.
I get that you used SuperCharger V6, it didn't work and froze up your tablet, then you got it to work as you described.
So, I don't know if I still need to use SuperCharger (which from what I gather is not a modified rom??) or just copy the files you mentioned to the SDcard, and once the files are copied how to get to recovery mode and if root is even required :s
I'm very sorry if these things seem obvious to you all, but the TPI forum is still a bit empty and I couldn't find this info here. Don't even know if what works for the Prime will work for Infinity so I'm not sure I should go digging there as well.
Maybe thinking of returning my infinity. So far I see no difference between this and my android phone. I only bought it a week ago. Would best buy return in even if its unlocked and rooted?
I'd say its pretty unethical to return an unlocked device unless its defective, as they'd just put it back on the shelf and whoever buys it next would be conned out of their warranty. Its why many of us wait for our return period to expire before doing such things.
For that reason, the unlock might give you trouble if the staff there goes out of their way to look for it. In this case, your success would be completely dependent on luck.
Root itself shouldnt pose an issue as it can easily be undone.
I used to work there, best buy wouldn't even know that it is rooted/unlocked. They will most likely send it back to the manufacturer anyways. Very rarely is it open boxed

From my experience returning tablets/electronics from BB, they check to make sure it works. With tablets they almost always attempt to turn the device on to see if it works regardless the reason for the return. Its pretty much the first thing they do after taking it out of its box. When I swapped out my Infinity, they turned mine on to check. They were going to do a factory reset but I had already done it prior. So in the end they will more then likely notice that it is unlocked. I hope they don't resell your unlocked tablet. I wouldn't want to get one already without warranty.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
yes, will turn it on. but just don't turn it off and they won't see the unlocked message. put to sleep instead.
Bestbuy won't know what the unlocked message means anyway and also wouldn't know it's not there on a retail TF.
FWIW, I returned a TF300 and TF700 to Bestbuy and both were unlocked. No issues with the return at all. They didn't even ask if anything was wrong with them.
Best buy will let you return it, but like others said unless it's defective they may well resell. However if it's defective i would have no qualms returning it.
......
Hello,
I've had my tf700 for a couple of weeks now. Things started off pretty well with it, but now it's starting to give lots of keyboard problems.
Sometimes it goes nuts typing a string of letters like a key is held down, sometimes the last key i pressed, sometimes random.
Sometimes on wakeup, the keyboard won't work, but the trackpad does.
Sometimes nothing works, but the notification area shows docked.
Sometimes when these issues are happening, i can't open the notification menu. Touching it does nothing.
Sometimes a cold boot fixes the problem, not always.
Any ideas? Is it commonly this flakey? One of these issues has been happening at least daily for about a week. It's stock, no root, all updates. It came from Best Buy, so I can return within 30 days. Should I return it for a replacement? Different model?
Thanks for any insight.

That's an issue that came with Jelly Bean. There's a lot of threads on it.
The other issues I haven't heard of yet. The Best Buy part isn't a shock, 90% of the faulty TF700's mentioned on this board came from Best Buy.....

No that I care about BestBuy one way or the other, but don't you think the reason may be that a lot of tablets were bought at Best Buy period? Faulty or not? They are one of the few brick and mortar places left if you don't want to buy online.
I have a hard time imagining that Asus produces sub-standard tablets especially for Best Buy. And I think BB would scream bloody murder if their return rates were considerably higher than "normal" for any particular product.

Fact remains that not a single EU user has complained about the issues BB buyers do. Assume from that what you will, but in Europe they do sell them in stores, and in some countries well before the US sell date. So no, it's not the tablet itself.
I suspect BB got a lousy batch, and BB just assumes it's the product's default state. People keep getting they product swapped for another from the same batch which is not going to do any good.
The title says it all i think. I bought my grandmother an asus memopad at walmart. three days later, she somehow broke the screen. The tablet only shows white when powered up.
So, how do i go about wiping all her data off it so i can try to sell it on ebay as-is?
Of note, it was stock. Nothing done to root it or otherwise.
model ME172v
Hopefully the device had WiFi turned on lol. If the device is already synced up to a Google account you can simple go to android device manager https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager find the device and hit erase. Hopefully the thing is already checked for it.
Also I'm not sure what memo pad you have but it says you can go back to factory settings by using a paper clip and pushing it into the pinhole. http://mypdfmanuals.com/user-manual,ASUS,EEE+PAD+MEMO+ME171,4254578.pdf
Also it says that some models have a micro HDMI port. If you have an HDTV you can simply hook it up via a micro HDMI to HDMI cable and you should be able to see what you're doing on your TV. This is the easiest method. Hope this helps.

Sorry, it's an ME172v, from walmart. They wouldn't take it back with the broken screen, sadly.
and i just looked at the manual that came with it : "Manual reset hole. If the system becomes unresponsive, push inside the manual reset hole using a straightened paper clip to force-restart your MeMO pad. IMPORTANT! forcing the system to restart may result in data loss. We strongly recommend that you back up your data regularly"
says MAY result in data loss, not that it wipes data. :/
and yeah, hadn't used google's thing yet. So no, no way to wipe it from there.
If worse comes to worse i suppose i could fry her google account and make her a new one.. then un-allow that device on facebook.
So the device isn't hooked up to Google play at all, and it doesn't have a micro HDMI port either? Yeah Walmart and most other stores don't cover that for warranty. That's why I feel warranty is sometimes useless.

Well, it's hooked to google play. I got her some apps. I didn't do that "Allow my device to be wiped" thing, though. didn't think about it. Since it's completely useless for MY tablet.
i found this little thing... Asus MeMO Pad ClearData SOP from the asus support site. Problem is like recovery, it requires you to hit the buttons to go down to the options.. I can't SEE said options. Anyone else able to tell me how long to wait and when to click what, how many times?

Lol I just about to tell you that you're going to have to go at this blind. http://wecanfixurmobile.blogspot.com/2013/06/asus-memo-pad-me172v-too-many-pattern.html. It seems that it is the very first option for clear data, so all you do is press the power button then after that you must wait for the device to reboot.
