I purchased a Transformer yesterday which will be my second one. I returned the first one. Wondering why I have not received the 3.1 update on new device. The first one updated over night. Anyone have any idea what the time frame is for the 3.1 update? I have a full battery and great wifi signal. I have checked in about phone for updates many many times. I have done a search and nothing seemed to come up regarding this. Any and all help is appreciated.
I received mine today... connected to my wifi... 5min later it updated.

There a lots threads about this.

I must admit and also agree i cannot understand why people cant just download the update from the asus website.
I think it is an issue though maybe with the lack of a decent manual,if it was mentioned when you opened the box up that firmware can be manually updated from the site we wouldnt hae to view the same posts all day.
Also it may mean we have a lot of new users which means they are selling the transformer like hot cakes.

Because the serial number on my TF is invalid. When I checked in to register the device it kept coming back "invalid serial number" I contacted Asus and was told to take the device back for exchange or refund as they have an internal investigation as to why units were being produced but not entered into data base and they have no time frame for resolution. Seems it is spread throughout the globe, look in this forum and you will see it is an issue for numerous devices. No valid serial number means NO warranty down the line. So what good would it do to manually update when you have no warranty??? Also why should an individual settle for a $400.00 device not functioning as it should out of the box??Yes not having a valid serial number and no warranty and no update are unacceptable. Please excuse me for asking a question on this forum. I got a refund as they had no Transformers on hand for exchange. I now have decided not to purchase until they get this serial number issue sorted out,(if they ever do)or perhaps looking into the Toshiba Thrive.
You should return it if you have a invalid serial number, your going to have warrenty issues if you ever need to send it back for repair

Yes Exactly what I did. I checked the display ASus in Office Depot where I purchased the device and it has not been updated either and has full wifi signal and plugged into power supply and I did a manual check and it came back no update available.. I wonder if it has the invalid serial number issue as well. I would really like to know how wide spread this "invalid serial number" is.
well i had to manually update mine. because it never got the update. but when i registered it, it registered fine.

Iconia users (me) suffer from delayed updates and then they're pushed 1 or 2 days (by states or regions) then pulled away, so, some are stock, some updated and some have 3.1... wich I think is worse.

actually yes you can just download it and flash it. thats what i did.
I bought mine today and recieved it OTA within 15 minutes of hooking into my WiFi.
Like the title says. I still haven't gotten an OTA update yet, and trying the few 3.2 updates people have linked to haven't worked for me.
A bit annoyed actually, that the store I bought it from, in London, sold me a US one, but there we go.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone in a similar situation had found a way to get it.
Similar thing. I bought at curry´s in london a B60 unit and dock. US version.
I´m in Brazil now, and have checked daily for the update and no luck what so ever.... I tried the recovery mode trick with those 60MB files of the update but all I got was a green android budy with a ! symbol on its chest...
It´s really taking a long time for it to be avaliable at the asus ftp.
Anyone has found a way to update in a situation like this?
My US version got the update in the UK within hours of the release last week.
I bought a B60 from amazon.co.uk and had it delivered to me here in Malta. I got the 3.2 update on 2nd August.
My Dad in the UK has a US version which I bought for him, and he got the OTA right about the same time as I did, ages ago.

OP, have you tried this yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133014
Looks like it should resolve your issue.
Thanks.
Thanks for that last link, I'll give it a try. I can't seem to get my transformer into APX mode - hoding power and volume up (after turning off) doesn't do anything. I've got the file downloaded though and I'll look for an answer to the APX problem and give it a try.
Thanks
Ok
Tried that, didn't work. Got back to 8.4.4.5, but it wouldn't update any further. I'll leave it for a few hours, see if it comes through by itself, but clicking the update button does nothing
Appreciate the help though, cheers.
I have a B7O that got updated only a few days ago.
Other european posters say that they might have been fixing some bugs before sending it out.
Then I think they stagger the updates.

Mine came the following morning (US Transformer in UK)
It changed my life.... or maybe not so much!
I have 2 B50s here and both got the notification for the update. We updated 1 to 3.2 about 3 days ago when they arrived.

I promised I would come back and tell everyone how my repair @ ASUS would go. I first called ASUS to make an RMA, but they just reffered to their website. So I filled in the form as honost as possible: "Hi ASUS, I've bricked my TF300. First I upgraded to JB, afterwards unlocked the bootloader, replaced it and after a wipe of the settings it won't boot at all. Please have it repaired, I'm aware of any costs or warranty-loss."
They picked it up last friday in Belgium, shipped it to Czech, where it arrived on Monday. I prommised myself I wouldn't check on the status for at least a week, but I couldn't stop myself
Yesterday I checked, and it was in status: Final testing. An hour later it was picked up by DHL again to be shipped back to Brussels. This afternoon I received it, and indeed: all issues solved! The note from ASUS didn't say anything about my story, the problem description was: System hangs up :victory:
So: Fixed in warranty, picked up and returned within a week, bootloader locked again, flashed back to stock JB!
Couldn't ask for better service!
Good luck out there

Lucky - my non-unlocked TF300TG has been away for a month and a half now. I'm generally a pretty patient person, but this is starting to piss me off. Especially considering it's just a software problem. I want to find whomever decided to lock down APX mode and slap them silly across their face.
You got lucky, hope I'll be also...
Hi,
I red your history with fate...
I bricked mine also, and I did the same call customer service, and got a RMA.
Sended it last friday, hope that the service is the same in Canada...
Thanks for your story...
But, as my wife will tell you: It won't stop me to root back my device.
In the mean time I bought a Nexus 7 tablet. It's very hard no to root....

My gf went: How the hell did you break it after a week?? Well, my answer was: because I could Never had a softbrick I couldn't fix before, the thing I did wrong was mostly: Starting to screw around after midnight, the "Oh, let's just do this one more thing now everything went so well...". Lesson learned! By the way, it returned stocked on JB, so I'm gonna wait a little bit until NVFLASH can be performed on this as well. But indeed, it won't stop me from messing with it again (Only this time on a Sunday afternoon with some calming music on the background )
Hi Folks,
since October i'm a proud owner of an infinity tab.
In November i got an issue with the touch screen which stopped responding during work and i needed to set it into standby and turn it in aga in to make it work.
So i called ASUS-Support for help. After some days of mailing them and some responses they gold me, hat i have to send it to ASUS and they will take about 10 days to repair it.
It took them 43(!!!) days. In this time i got no proactive information about the progress. So i needed to ask again.
They also gave me the option to pay me the money back, i spend in this device.
But i wanted exactly that type of device.
When i got back my device i firstly was very happy, because all errors i told them were fixed.
They replaced the mainboard.
But then i considered that the device was not hit by the OTA-update and I needed to contact ASUS again.
First they asked me about the MAC of my new Main board.
So somebody missed to change it in their database for OTA-Updates.
I gave the needed information and waited for response... Nothing.
Again in asked ASUS and they told me to manually update to the actual version and wait for the next update.
Then android 4.2 got to our devices but no OTA at mine showed up.
Very angry I mailed ASUS again, and they told me to send my device back again.
I asked them, how they think to keep me online, because I already waited 43 days for the first fix.
But they didn't even react on that. It ended in the suggestion to update my device manually if I do not want to send the device in.
I now decided to never by any ASUS device again because of the bad service I get for a device for 719 € .

You don't need "Germany" in the title. Asus support sucks period.
The usernames featured in this thread are highly amusing..
Did you contact Asus directly or go back to the shop you bought it at? Under EU law the shop is bound to give you a full 1 year warranty, you see.
Why did you refuse the money back ? With it you could have bought a completely new infinity tab with no repaired part.

For the 4th time now, my TF700 has crapped out on me. I have had to send it for repair 3 times now. Each time the main board has been replaced. The warranty is up in September. I have tried all of the tricks to get it to boot without any luck.
I really like this device when it is working and planned to get the new version in the fall but I may switch to Samsung.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,
gabato
That is one streak of bad luck! Check if your consumer protection laws entitle you to a replacement - not repair. Something is seriously wrong with your tablet - or you keep doing something seriously wrong

It will be a matter of bad luck but it is unfortunate, if they have replaced the motherboard several times but has not been resolved, they should replace it with a new computer. I have had the TF700 tf201 and I am delighted with its performance after unblock, root and install custom rom.
