While cleaning out my phone with software I no longer use I somehow removed the stock music player. Can someone tell me how to get it back. I know most people do not like it but I want it back.

The one I am referring to I believe it came with the 2.3.4 update since that is the version of the music app. I know the android music app is in the market but I am hoping for the one that came with the last update.

I think your "stock" music app is still in your phone. The google one overwrite it because it will be standard on all future updates.
**try going into manage applications, all, then uninstall updates to music player
It's the same one from google but it was just updated the other day.

Anyone get the new Market yet? I was able to download Maps 5.0 Beta with the cool vector maps and 3D buildings, but I'm still only at the old Market. Anyone got new market?

Google JUST released it a few minutes ago, it's in the market now, update your Maps.
To go 3D mode, use two fingers and swipe down. It'll "tilt" the map. If you're in an area that has the 3D vector maps, you'll see it (try San Francisco).
You can also then use two fingers and rotate the map.
Old Market
Shouldn't the Nexus S use the new market? Mine displays the old market...

Agreed. 2.3 shoulda come with the new market. I tried to install the .apk but I can't for some reason as I don't have the option. I also noticed that in 2.3 with the old market, Downloads (third tab) has been replaced with T-Mobile's picks. Yuck.

They should've put the new market... I dislike the new t-mobile tab in the market.

The third tab is Downloads for me, not T-Mobile.
Yeah, seeing the T-Mobile tab makes the phone feel gimped. How can I install the newer .apk I have or can't I? (locked to 2.2 only?)

Then it must be a uniform standard, maybe for Sprint users it'll change to Sprint & for AT&T users it'll change to AT&T..
Luckily for me I've been using the phone since morning and it's on downloads only.
New market just updated on my Epic, should be to you guys in no time

Mine says t-mobile as well.
I had AT&T SIM in when I got my phone, and it said Downloads and had WIFI Tether (root app) available for download.
After I signed up for T-Mobile and used that SIM, the tab turned into T-Mobile, and no WIFI Tether in the market (there's another thread listing some apps missing from T-Mobile market)
It's all very odd. Ever since I had my N1, the third tab was ALWAYS Downloads. Then, I manually upgraded to the new Market. (2.2.6) When going to Market on the Nexus S, the third tab is T-Mobile. I really hope when switching to the newer Market that it goes away.

Yeah, I noticed that there were some apps missing from the Market as well, but this may be because of the transition from 2.2 to 2.3. Back in the day when we were moving from 2.1 to 2.2 there was a whole to-do about some apps not showing in the market and it had to do with developers not checking some options/settings to do with security or something in their app(s).
I suppose it's the price we pay for being on the bleeding edge. I did notice that apps that were sitting on my SD card on my Nexus One were not transferred over and I'll need to redownload them.
OT: How would I got about transferring settings, save games, etc. onto my Nexus S? This is the one thing that irks me about resetting a phone/moving to a new phone. Apps are transferred but settings/saves are not.

That's lame. I hope Google continues to make phones with a fixed amount of storage so that they can backup everything to the cloud. Due to them knowing what's on the phone, they can then restore the apps and saves for us.
i tried installing the new market apk that i used for my n1. it installed, but some of the text was cut off and kept forceclosing. im also not liking the tmobile branded market.
I wanted to ask if anyone knows how HTC handles updating the included software? most of them don't show as installed in the android app market, so I don't get update notifications for them.
I'm asking this because there's a update that came out for the adobe flash player today, and I'm not sure if it was updated in my phone.
I just checked it out in the manage application and it's still on 10.2 software, WTF... so anybody know if that suppose to be the case, and how is it smart to have the built in apps not show up in the market.
The ones that are built in (besides flash) you need to leave them be...The Version of Qik is newer in our phone...the market version is older and hasnt been optimized for our phones.
If it doesn't show up it's because they put a different version in our phone than what was released in the market...Leave it alone and when its ready to update it will alert you..Like I said..Flash is the exception to that.
OK so does the mean...?

Okay so does this mean that I shouldn't manually update apps like Adobe Reader, Telnav... those are the only additional ones i noticed besides flashy that weren't updated.
Keep in mind that older versions of adobe products are known to have major security flaws.
That may not be saying much because allot of things in android OS have security flaws, but that's besides the point. Just because it's optimized for our devices does that make it not vulnerable?
fyi...I did have an htc update notify for the Listen V1.31 app on 6/25/11. Installed w/o issue...

Aw this sucks, I already installed the apps from the marketplace thinking the ones on my phone where older version.
Should I do a factory restore so I can get them all back to normal? Or am I SOL?

Does it have a dedicated verizon tab?
No it does not. I am running OMFGB 1.30 7/25 though
I didn't get it pushed so I decided to say screw it and installed 3.0.27 myself!
Oh and yes there is a Verizon tab. From the main page choose apps. then scroll to the bottom and under editors choice you will see a Verizon rectangle.
I am digging the look of the new market. However it seems to not remember my apps. I use a few ROMS that have it cooked in and my apps never auto restore.

It does, when you click the apps button.
I installed it myself, there's some apk's floating around with dark colored themes of the .027 build. The dark and green one goes with my roms theme perfectly

I HATE the way this new market acts at times. Sometimes I can update one app at a time and others it says update the app and when I choose the app it gives me the options to open or uninstall and not to update. WTF?

Forgive my newbie question, but how does one go about finding out the version of Market that is being used?
Havent explored the new market much yet but so far I think it looks great.
I can download apps from the new market but they don't show up in my app drawer, but I can open it through the market which is a pain. It was pushed to my phone today and I hate it

When it's being pushed to your phone it will just re-install itself. You can uninstall it all you want but it will come right back. Wouldn't hurt to try and fix his issues tho.

Ahh that blows. I still have the old one apparently I'm not cool enough for the new one lol. I've tried the new one and I like the look of it but hate the bugs I've experienced.

Well since you're rooted you may not get it pushed to your device. My Nexus One still has the REALLY old market on it because it's rooted and running some custom ROM(cannot remember which one right now). Some custom ROMs will allow for market update pushes, but some won't, especially ROMs that have themed markets....a pushed market update would screw that up, so devs usually prefer to update the market in their ROMs themselves thru a ROM update.
I hear you on the bugs. I installed the new market apk and finally uninstalled it because of the numerous issues it has. I'm stock on the TBolt and still have not got the new market either....so I'm definitely not cool enough for it.

Yeah I just checked my Nexus and it's running some old version of CM(with really old market), so I think the CM guys block market updates. You'll get it from them eventually and the best thing is that it they will yank out the bugs for you.
I have been waiting for the updated android market app to release over the air, I wanted to know if I'm the only one still waiting on this to happen?
I don't want a link to the APK I already have one, I just prefer to wait for OTA releases of APK's nothing personal.
Just a question, but what version is the newest update?
It was 3.1 when i posted this message, I just saw that there might be a 3.2 now
Nothing to see here

Not exactly sure when they upgraded it, but I noticed it earlier today.
I updated a few of my apps, and market was taking ages to get going,
and to be honest I didn't really notice the change until I downloaded
another app, and I saw the 'Films' tag. You'll also need to download the
Google video app too if you ever rent a film.
okay good to know. but it looks like the US people haven't received the update... guess I'll just keep waiting

It was just updated about 2 weeks ago, during GIO. You might need to be more specific. Maps has received several updates in the last few months.

I know that maps.google.com was updated, and I've played around with that. They were referencing the Android app. I remember one of the features that was most appealing was that it would constantly see if there was a better route to take you on than the one you were currently on.
