MARKET HELP: Cant Download

Not entirely sure when this started but I noticed last night that when I try to download anything from the Market, it goes to "Starting Download" and thats as far as it goes, period. One has been on that screen for the last 7 hours while I slept. Any ideas?
Currently on: Haykuro 5.0G

It's a known issue. Either switch to 5.02H or JF's builds or wait until tomorrow to see if the Friday update fixes things.

Did the search button stop working as well? There are 4 pages of the same reports in the main Saphire thread and it has been reported on Haykuros site as well. Mods... please close this thread

Did you try :
-> Clearing the market's cache?
Menu - settings - Applications - Manage applications - Market - Clear cache
-> Removal of the battery

as soon as the official release of the android 1.5 .. there's probably no way around it .. no one is supposed to be using it .. my guess .. they are making modifications to the market or something .. people being able to access it prematurely could muck up the works

You have got to be kidding me!!! my market was working the other day then all of a sudden it wouldnt download.
I really like this rom, but without the ability to load all my applications its useless.

5.0.2r2 is out.. its just a temp “fix” for market problems.. “market problems?!” Yup..
Google has started blocking market connections from firmware 1.5. Im hoping to have this resolved by tomorrow (update fridays).

I use Haykuro 4.5 and prefer it over the 5.x builds. Noticed this morning I was unable to download from market. I did flash the 5.0.2Hr2 and had Market working fine. Hopefully (as I'm back to a nekkid 4.5 now) he'll have an update to 4.5 fixing the Market issue.
In the meantime, here's the apk for Astro and AppManager to at least get the free apps back on.

C'mon...no need for another thread about this...

Im running 5.0.2H, I still have full access.

This is how XDA has been since my wizard flashing days. I wonder what mythical XDA forum you guys are all remembering.
I miss the XDA where people who knew anything would help (even if just through sig links) and the d-bags who just complain about NOOBS come and go. Oh wait, that's still how it is.

I think we just need a irc room where we can idle, *****, and bicker at each other.

Market issues HAVE NOTHING TO DO themes!!!

On every theme thread people keep reporting that the theme is causing the problem, they're NOT!!! The Market has had issues since 1.6, and they continue with 2.1, and the Market issues aren't just related to the X10.
Go to start a new thread and type "market issue", and you will see that other brands and handsets suffer from the problem too.
I know I haven't modded the Market app, and know that others haven't too, had we of done there might be something to suggest it's the theme, but we haven't and it isn't!!

Just uninstall the market update from "manage applications" and all should be well

Never said it was your fault mate. But it is something that is easily replicated for me. I only use your theme so do not have a comparison.
I am NOT complaining, I choose to do these things to my phone and I am aware of the risks.
The market seems to be getting worse rather than better, really wish they would pull their finger out and sort it.
I have no problems clearing market cache etc.....
Something about the process of applying themes certainly does seem to upset the market though, but like I said, I do not hold you responsible my friend.

I'm just saying as it's been said on every theme thread despite the issues existing since 1.6 and with other phones too.

Definitely not a theme thing. I've seen this happen with a fresh firmware install.
It has something to do with the Market update, and as others have said simply uninstalling the market update fixes the problem every time.

I don't really follow the other theme threads very much.
Like I said, messing with files like this is risky, just wish people were better prepared for when things go wrong.

And like I've said, the Market app hasn't been modified by any themer as far as I'm aware and as pointed out it's happened on a fresh install for one person which supports what's already been said.

Hopefully android will fix this bug soon!

They are aware of the problem for a longer time, but instead of making it better they just keep sliding downhill...it seems to be complicated. There were several times devs couldn't add their apps because of maintenance, so they are trying to solve it.

I know this has nothing to do with themes, because since I upgraded to 2.1 it happens to me almost once every other day. I just uninstall updates and it goes back to normal. It is obviously a Google issue.

If you guys have titanium backup pro, try using the its new feature of applying the market update directly into the rom (system/app). This seems to have increased stability for me. If you don't have the pro version, you can still move it via root explorer or adb.

I installed the theme step by step. but seriously the mearket stop working. it forces closing. it downloads as usual, but the problem is when it install, force closing.

Reedz, it isn't the theme mate. I believe it's simply the act of messing with those files that upsets market. I can often get the same result messing with other files. It is simply 'twitchy'.

Guys i got the way to solve this, you need to navigate to settings/applications/manage applications/market/ then in market uninstall updates.
go back to market and start downloading as usual.

these things happen often , if one is decided to mod and go against the shipped ROM , then we have to anticipate such things ...

Yep. I did that and was able to download as usual. The next time I opened the market after that it was the updated market again though so there doesn't seem to be a way to suppress it completely. However, after the market upgraded itself the second time (after the uninstall updates step) the new market worked perfectly fine with my modified theme. No issues.

[Q] Market Update?

Anyone get the new Market yet? I was able to download Maps 5.0 Beta with the cool vector maps and 3D buildings, but I'm still only at the old Market. Anyone got new market?

Google JUST released it a few minutes ago, it's in the market now, update your Maps.
To go 3D mode, use two fingers and swipe down. It'll "tilt" the map. If you're in an area that has the 3D vector maps, you'll see it (try San Francisco).
You can also then use two fingers and rotate the map.

Old Market
Shouldn't the Nexus S use the new market? Mine displays the old market...

Agreed. 2.3 shoulda come with the new market. I tried to install the .apk but I can't for some reason as I don't have the option. I also noticed that in 2.3 with the old market, Downloads (third tab) has been replaced with T-Mobile's picks. Yuck.

The third tab is Downloads for me, not T-Mobile.

Yeah, seeing the T-Mobile tab makes the phone feel gimped. How can I install the newer .apk I have or can't I? (locked to 2.2 only?)

Then it must be a uniform standard, maybe for Sprint users it'll change to Sprint & for AT&T users it'll change to AT&T..
Luckily for me I've been using the phone since morning and it's on downloads only.

Mine says t-mobile as well.

I had AT&T SIM in when I got my phone, and it said Downloads and had WIFI Tether (root app) available for download.
After I signed up for T-Mobile and used that SIM, the tab turned into T-Mobile, and no WIFI Tether in the market (there's another thread listing some apps missing from T-Mobile market)

It's all very odd. Ever since I had my N1, the third tab was ALWAYS Downloads. Then, I manually upgraded to the new Market. (2.2.6) When going to Market on the Nexus S, the third tab is T-Mobile. I really hope when switching to the newer Market that it goes away.

Yeah, I noticed that there were some apps missing from the Market as well, but this may be because of the transition from 2.2 to 2.3. Back in the day when we were moving from 2.1 to 2.2 there was a whole to-do about some apps not showing in the market and it had to do with developers not checking some options/settings to do with security or something in their app(s).
I suppose it's the price we pay for being on the bleeding edge. I did notice that apps that were sitting on my SD card on my Nexus One were not transferred over and I'll need to redownload them.
OT: How would I got about transferring settings, save games, etc. onto my Nexus S? This is the one thing that irks me about resetting a phone/moving to a new phone. Apps are transferred but settings/saves are not.

That's lame. I hope Google continues to make phones with a fixed amount of storage so that they can backup everything to the cloud. Due to them knowing what's on the phone, they can then restore the apps and saves for us.

i tried installing the new market apk that i used for my n1. it installed, but some of the text was cut off and kept forceclosing. im also not liking the tmobile branded market.

Anyway...my friend just got an inspire and is new to android. I'm just helping with the phone (I have a verizon android phone) and realized that AT&T finds someway to screw with consumers again. So, is there a way to get around this and install non market apps?

You can use sideload wonder machine http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-sideload-wonder-machine/
Or root the phone and load a custom ROM that has non market apps enabled

the sideload wonder machine method is sipmple the only drawback is that the apps wont receive updates like they would from the market, if I'm not mistaken.

Also if I remember correctly if the app is to big for side load wonder machine, you can use adb push. There are always work arounds.

That's why it's such a sweet feeling when you uninstall their application through TiBu........

You can also consider rooting the device. I did mine with no issues at all. It's VERY easy, just time consuming. From start to finish, took me about 35 minutes. I already had EVERYTHING I needed to do this though, including the ROM I wanted.

You want good go to Amazon App store, in the past few days I got a full version of Shazam and then SoundHound. Both have full unlimited use with no expiration, also if you change rom's you can redownload them from your account for as long as you have the account. They give away a full paid app everyday on there.

Android Market Update... Same Version?

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes when you update a app from the Market, its the Same exact version? Happened to me about 6 times this week... What's up with that?

Also how come certain apps Don't show as having a update until I physically click it myself, when most of the others show that there's a update available?

I had this problem many times, even today.
Today (Feb 10) an app called Spool was shown as update available, but the chnagelog was same as one for last update which I did, and market website shows it as last updated on Feb 6th.

Is there Anyway to Fix this? The ****s getting Annoying man... Sometimes I catch it but sometimes I Don't until I go to make a backup and it says already backed up!

Could it be something like some permissions were changed, thus showing as an update?
It happened to me with Waze this week- exactly same version build but somewhere in changelog it was written that the update is because some permission was revoked.

I honestly "Didn't/Don't" have a explanation for it. But just know I'm getting Real Tired of it, even though it is kind of a petty thing to get Frustrated with, Just Can't help it, it Aggravates me! Lol...
