The best part of waking up...is a smartphone in your hand? Check out this article I found.
A new survey from telecom equipment maker Ericsson (PDF) finds that some smartphone users are very, very attached to their devices, finding that fully 35 percent of iPhone and Android users in the United States admit to using non-voice applications before they even get out of bed in the morning.

alarm clock anyone? lol.
smartphones are like my crack! >.<
my gf sleeps with hers in her hand. She's a heavy sleeper so having the phone close to her helps her wake up... that or she's looking at p0rn at 4am.
Probably just porn.
I don't grab mine until the alarm goes off. Then i keep it in my hand while I snooze.
I admit waking up in the middle of the night and surfing a little.

My alarm clock does not wake me up but my phone does.
I 'am always on my phone first thing I do before I get out of bed is check my notification bar. while performing my morning deuce I surf the android market.

I've developed this strange habit of polishing my phone on my shirt LOL. It's like a nervous tick, I don't even realize I'm doing it..
I read the RSS updates in the morning using FEEDR - one of the best android apps imo
First thing I'll do is turn off Gentle Alarm and Screen Filter, check the Amazon app for free app and then sync my Pulse news.

Amen brother!
Within the first few seconds of waking up my fiance picks up her blackberry and checks her notifications, and admittedly I do the same.
Yeah, me, too. First thing is to check the daily Amazon freebie, then check Gmail for stuff that arrived overnight, followed by the dictionary.com daily info. After all that, I'm generally awake enough to get out of bed.
Hitting de snooze or off on alarm with my nose de my morning podcast start playing n I to try to focus my eye on my phone so I can send command to reduce volume or delay it

TiKL for Android is a Push to Talk app that uses Voip. Just found this today on the market and have been playing around with it with some friends. Has great potential! I cant post links yet, (if someone could help me out and post one) just do a search for TiKL in the market.
Great app love it has g great potential. Love waking my wife up in the mornings with it. Needs a contacts widget so all you have to so is click on their person to chirp them

Ok
someone please explain to me the usefulness of push to talk. I really never got it, and seriously want to understand how it is used and why it's different than calling someone? And I'm not being sarcastic. REALLY I AM NOT!
Is it just a "doesn't cost minutes" thing? Just a real world scenario where you would use this instead of calling would be great.
We run UPS and Generator tests at my job and there are like 5 of us that need to stay in constant contact with each other while the tests are going on. Some of us are on the first floor of the building, some are on the fourth floor and its way easier to just push to talk rather than dialing every time.

i have had this app for about 2 weeks now and i must say i like it alot..great potential and yet easy to use..i can see this app being around for quite some time with the amount of downloads and 4-5 star ratings from tons of users that have downloaded so far...
two things it needs
1. widget
2. some type of contact list instead of the pop down menu
thanks OP!!!!!!!!!
any way for me and my buddy to communicate with push to talk? he is on WM and IM on android.
Not at the moment. TiKL is only for android.
great app but kills my battery!
this is a nice app, and i dont want to scare anyone away from it but one time a friend of mine was still transmitting to me long after he stopped pressing the button and had put his phone down with the screen off. He wasent able to stop transmitting until after using a task kill

Havn't had that problem yet. It is still in beta remember.
Picture this:
Your alarm clock goes off.
The ONLY way that you can get your alarm to turn off is to go a certain spot in your house detected by your GPS. This would make you to have get up and go to that spot.
Not sure if this is possible or not because of the GPS not being able to detect such close differences, but if so I am willing to pay $50 to anyone that can create this alarm.
No need set the phone on a stand across the room.

You haven't seen anything yet.
I agree. I was a longtime iphone user who finally made the switch to android with the Infuse. At first I was missing certain aspects of my jailbroken iPhone 4, but it took less than a week until I was ready to sell it. I love the 4.5" screen. There is really only two things I miss about my iphone. The text with the retina display was amazing and if I had that on my 4.5" screen I would be in heaven. I also like the way iOS formats emails a lot better. Emails on the infuse are just a lot harder to view as u have to pan around them. I have tried a couple alternate email clients, but still haven't found one I care for.

I agree too much email on phone sucks battery life, unless you do the scheduled pushing, I quit my yahoo and use gmail I think 1 email is better than protecting 4 emails.
The only thing I want is the "3g unrestrictor apps" on iOs where you can fake apps that can be use only on wifi, unrestrict it making the apps think you are connected on wifi where in fact you are using 3g.

Ya the ability to change notification sound out of the box is nice compared to ios but I really like the juggling especially for the ringtones. I used to have a bunch of 80's sitcom themes songs set to juggle for every call. Does any body know of a good App to do this? I tried a couple of them but niether worked very well.

My last phone was a ipjone 3g. It's not a comprable phone, but just the OS alone has been enough to make me happy. With the added speed upgrade, it blows the iphone 3g out of the water.
Got my Infuse and iPhone 4 sittin here. Ive tried the Android switch several times and failed. Going to give the Infuse its fair shake though. Hoping for the best!

I agree, I went from iPhone 4 to Android. The only thing I would like to see is better battery life and build quality out of the Android phone line. It always seems like my iPhone lasted forever, and was so rugged, and Android phones feel so plasticy and cheap, and the battery goes soooo fast.
With that said, iOS is like going back in time when using after Android. Sure Android has it's issues, but remember it's only 2 years young, so it's to be expected. I love things like how it adds facebook feeds to a user contact card, and little things like turning the phone upside down to mute a call. Really stuff that just works... it's great.
Welcome from another iPhone 4 convert, hehe

HAHA, you're funny and your post cracked me up with each sentence. I love it!
When a call comes in, flip the phone over onto it's face-down, and the phone will stop ringing. You'll also notice that if the phone is ringing and you pick it up to see who it is, it detects it's being fondled and turns down the ringer since you obviously know you have a call at that point. There's also a purse mode, so if you have it in a purse or pocket, it knows, and will crank up the ringer on it's own.
I too continue to discover cool stuff.... there's really no central repository for "cool stuff" but rather a bunch of different things around the net you can search for that'll give some cool tips and tricks. Android is fast evolving, so each tick they come out with gives a few more cool features. I bought this phone along with 2 friends, and I'm always hearing "did you see it can do this..." so as they find things they let me know. It's amazing how much they packed into an OS... makes iOS seem primitive, at best, hehe.
Chumley wouldn't be a good fit for a smartphone, he loves fried chicken and the screen would look like it'd gotten deep fried, hehe. I've never seen someone actually use a Chumley reference on here.... kudos! hehe
I went from an iPhone 4 to a Motorola Atrix for a little over a month. Couldn't stand Motoblur so I went back to an iPhone 4. I had a Captivate but didn't like a few things about it. I sold my iPhone 4 for $450 and bought my Infuse of some guy on Craigslist for $400.
I'm loving my Infuse so far, the size has really grown on me. I don't think I can ever get a phone under 4" again. Email sucks on Android if using email other than Gmail, but there are so many things that I enjoy on my Infuse more!

Congrats on the migration. It's funny how many people did the same as you, went Atrix because of the marketing hype. I have never personally used it, but I haven't been a Motorola fan since they killed the quality of production after StarTac.
i too agree the size is amazing. I always said anything more than 4" would be too big but now that I have a 4.5" it really is nice. I find that I text\web browse 95% of the time, and rarely use the phone, so the screen size is the #1 feature.
Regarding mail, I had the same sentiments as you, but quickly realized I was wrong. The phone has activesync built in, so first thing I did was delete the gMail client and use the mail app. You'll need an email that supports it (gmail does using exchange server "m.google.com"), or there's a plethora of other non-gmail providers that do it as well. I used to use GoDaddy's Secureserver.net hosted email, but they charge 30.00 a year for hosted IMAP, and $50 a year for activesync, and to me that's just not worth the cost. So I switched all of my domains over to Google Apps. They host your email (you pay $10 a year for the domain to godaddy) then google hosts the activesync email server, and the best part is it's FREE. It's far better than my iPhone mail experience, you just have to have a little know how to set it up, modify MX records, but google's help section makes it super easy to feel your way through it.
Best of luck.

Apparently the new Google maps is supposed to have bike directions. And Strava is really good with social stuff. Looking for the social stuff in Strava but don't see it yet do you have to have a ride recorded first or it is pro/premium membership only? My facebook is linked to Strava...
I've had this idea in my head for a lil while for an exercise app, really not an app for exercising but more of a idea brought into those types of recording app's.
Basically it is/or would be for the exercising app, an automatic pickup and start or recording once a certain number of repetitive movements are involved and recognized by the phone and the app itself... Such as a up and down or side to side movement, since your phone generally goes in that direction whether it's wrapped around the side of your arm while your jogging or running or in your pocket. Sure what would get in the way here is what about walking in general maybe you could add a specific time between each motion, whereas when ya walk ya don't move your arms back and forward as much or fast as you do when running, or if there was a way to measure the force for each movement and it could determine whether to automatically start recording or stay idly by waiting to sense, pickup and start automatically recording.
As the title says, I have been having trouble with my alarm clock on my m8. I always use my phone as my alarm clock and one day it didn't go off. So I bought a 3rd party app thinking this would fix it and it did for 2 days, but then again on the 3rd day it didn't go off.
I have it set to repeat every day except for my days off. I have vibrate turned off. I also checked to make sure it wasn't on my task manager's white list. I am on viperone, but not sure what in the ROM would allow it to work every so often. I mean 2 to 3 times out of my work week it will go off. So I'm not sure why it doesn't sometimes.
I have been so paranoid that it won't go off that I have kept my old s4 as a back up. Which I would like to sell, but I want to make sure I can get up in the morning. I have ask my wife to set her phone alarm for me, but she gets really upset because I wake up at 4:30 am every day. Please any ideas would be much appreciated.
