Alarm clock doesn't always go off - Verizon HTC One (M8)

As the title says, I have been having trouble with my alarm clock on my m8. I always use my phone as my alarm clock and one day it didn't go off. So I bought a 3rd party app thinking this would fix it and it did for 2 days, but then again on the 3rd day it didn't go off.
I have it set to repeat every day except for my days off. I have vibrate turned off. I also checked to make sure it wasn't on my task manager's white list. I am on viperone, but not sure what in the ROM would allow it to work every so often. I mean 2 to 3 times out of my work week it will go off. So I'm not sure why it doesn't sometimes.
I have been so paranoid that it won't go off that I have kept my old s4 as a back up. Which I would like to sell, but I want to make sure I can get up in the morning. I have ask my wife to set her phone alarm for me, but she gets really upset because I wake up at 4:30 am every day. Please any ideas would be much appreciated.

Same thing happened to me the other day.
I would suggest selling your S4 and using $15 of the proceeds to buy an alarm clock. Win win.

I agree I could just get an alarm clock... I may even still have one from back in the day. My only problem is my wife. The alarm I have on my phone is quiet and gets louder as it goes off (when it works). For some reason my wife can sleep through that. Lol. You know the saying happy wife, happy life.

Use the rest of the proceeds from the S4 and buy a new wife. Shipping might run a little extra, but now we've killed two birds with one stone.

Yes, I googled the problem and task manager, vibrate, and volume were the only answers people had. That's why I came here hoping to find some smarter people. Lol

Hey I was wondering what ROM you are running. I don't know if it is because I'm on viperone, but if you were running that also then I might try my luck in that thread.

[Bounty]$50 bounty for developer who can create alarm clock gps position to turn off.

Picture this:
Your alarm clock goes off.
The ONLY way that you can get your alarm to turn off is to go a certain spot in your house detected by your GPS. This would make you to have get up and go to that spot.
Not sure if this is possible or not because of the GPS not being able to detect such close differences, but if so I am willing to pay $50 to anyone that can create this alarm.
No need set the phone on a stand across the room.
from my phone duh
GPS may not work under a roof unless your close to a window. It's GP SATELLITES
Can't help but wonder.... How many jobs you have lost or will lose cuz you won't get outta the bed. Good luck.

Lol. I dunno, no predictive text, no spell check, and you have to press each button deliberately. Kinda slows down the texting. Not to mention the 305 incoming text capacity. lol.

Just checked them. The 8100 wont charge. It might be my charger, it might be the port. So, that ones out. Besides poor battery life from the other two, nothing. The BB is probably the most functional of them besides my enV3 which works as it did when it was brand new. lol.

my gf sleeps with hers in her hand. She's a heavy sleeper so having the phone close to her helps her wake up... that or she's looking at p0rn at 4am.
Probably just porn.
I don't grab mine until the alarm goes off. Then i keep it in my hand while I snooze.
I admit waking up in the middle of the night and surfing a little.

I read the RSS updates in the morning using FEEDR - one of the best android apps imo
First thing I'll do is turn off Gentle Alarm and Screen Filter, check the Amazon app for free app and then sync my Pulse news.

Amen brother!
Within the first few seconds of waking up my fiance picks up her blackberry and checks her notifications, and admittedly I do the same.
Yeah, me, too. First thing is to check the daily Amazon freebie, then check Gmail for stuff that arrived overnight, followed by the dictionary.com daily info. After all that, I'm generally awake enough to get out of bed.
Hitting de snooze or off on alarm with my nose de my morning podcast start playing n I to try to focus my eye on my phone so I can send command to reduce volume or delay it

A Farewell!

Gentlemen and ladies, just wanted to thank everyone here for helping me make my TB last as long as it did. I had posted many a noob question and everyone was very helpful in answering those goofy questions. I have migrated to the 8X, and will miss seeing all the stuff everyone keeps coming up with!
Just wanted to thank everyone who lended a helping hand!
Cheers!
I can't understand why people are jumping ship, the Thunderbolt is a GREAT phone and, with the right ROM is all anyone would ever need!
I'm sticking with it for two reasons:
1. because it's so perfect that nobody could ever wish for a better phone and
2. because UPS didn't deliver my Galaxy SIII today. It should be here tomorrow.

Last but not least, thanks to all here who have made the T'bolt a very good experience!

What do you plan on doing with the old Bolt? IF you are going to make it a paper weight might I ask for it. Mine lost the top half of the screen and the ear speaker is out. Not good when unemployed so looking for a free phone?
Thank you,
Even though I jumped ship to a DNA, my use of the Thunderbolt is not over. It now serves as my music player and as a GPS unit. It is now more convenient since having 1 phone and using it for GPS, it would be a pain when you get a phone call and then you end up lost or whatever. Now I can answer my calls and speak my texts as I'm driving with my DNA while still being able to navigate. So for me, my Thunderbolt is still very much active.

I have a friend here who also was a TB user, he went with the S3 also, and really loves it. So I think its a learning curve, new setup that you will get used to. I am still trying to figure out just how I want my start screen set up, keep changing it. Eventually I will stop. Or die, whichever comes first!

My thunderbolt stayed in the family as I gave it to my little sis when I got the Galaxy Nexus last month. She loves the fact that I had it rooted and that I had the extended battery.

My problem is the button locations, they're different! I have large hands and when messing around in recovery my ring finger constantly hits the "back" button, the power button is in a very bad place for me, etc. etc.
It takes a lot of getting used to!

Yea, like I said, my biggest issue is actually the camera button, I give it a love tap everytime I grab the phone. Thankfully its not an instant on, otherwise that would be a problem.
Its good to see though, that even with this minor (I believe its a minor) issue, its still a great phone. There is no way you can make the location of the buttons perfect for everyone since were all built with different fingers and hands.
And I didn't keep the TB, sold it back to Verizon for 33 bucks, and with the 8X on sale for 99, its nice to only pay 66 bucks for an over 500 dollor phone!
AND I think I FINALLY have the start screen where I want it. Now just have to figure out how to reduce the size of all my songs. With all the songs on, I maxed out the memory. Surprising, its still wicked fast with only 30mb free! WoopWoop!

Copilot is an app I use, but there are many others. You can pay anywhere from 10$-50$ depending on quality. I find copilot is a good mix of price, performance, quality. It's only been wrong twice in the few years I've used it.
I also use locus maps pro for my backwoods hiking and tracking.

And the dumbest comment of the thread goes to you my friend. It doesn't matter if you have a 24hr clock or not. You still have to state am or pm after you specify a time. Have a great day my friend may some common sense prevail.
Anyway I am using google lens now to it is awesome sometimes a little buggy but hey it's beta still.

There is no need to be so aggressive
In my country/language when we say 9 it usually means 9:00, sometimes 21:00, but more often than not that's 9:00.
Imho 9 (with 24h clock) should mean 9:00.
In English it is just different I guess.

I didn't mean to be aggressive I am just saying we don't say set alarm for twenty one hundred hours. Well you can if you want. But if you say set alarm for nine you still have to say am or pm, otherwise it will pick up the nearest 9o'clock either pm or am so if you're past am and you wanted to set for 9am, it will set alarm for 9pm as it is the nearest. You have to say set alarm for tomorrow at 9am, I was just saying what you said made no sense but now I understand you're English is from a different place.

I guess you are American? Since Americans have weird formats of everything thing including date and time.
In the rest of the world where 24 hour format is used 21 means 9 pm and 9 means 9 am.
