I wan't to create my own rom for LG GT540. I downloaded SDK, Java, and Eclipse, but i dont't know how to begin. I just wan't to dowload stock 2.1 rom, and unpack it, and then edit apps. Is that possible??

You need knowledge of reverse engineering.
After that you need base rom or can use stock(company default rom) to develop rom.
there have several idea and tutorial. just google it.
Guys, first of all I am a noob so please use simple language. So I want to port a mt6575 ROM android ics. The stock ROM is also mt6575 but android gingerbread. The stock ROM doesn't have any folders only files but the ROM I ant to port has .tar files in it I am getting confused I can't use the guide given on porting mtk roms. If any1 of u can help me or can port for me it will be very grateful.
