Rooted my g2x and flashed cm7 nightly build.
Worked perfectly and charged phone over night to see the phone does not start up at all. No charging screen. Totally dead. Suggestions?

pull the battery
The same thing happens to me. Pull the battery and reboot. To prevent it from happening while on the charger go to settings> applications> development and select "stay awake". This will prevent the phone from going into the "sleep of death" while on the charger. You can still shut the screen off manually.
Happened to me for the first time last night since getting the phone on 4/20. Had to pull the battery; since, everything has been fine.
Got it replaced at t mobile store they could not turn it on either. Lets see how this one works out.

Yesterday while toggling airplane mode I got a reboot. First yet and it was on gingerbread..i just had another one while accident pressing power for too long..
the phone reboots just holding power even if the screen is off. Maybe just maybe this button is getting pressed for too long I their pockets or just pressing power to toggle airplane mode and its rebooting. Or maybe something with this function bugging out...
Anyone else notice phone reboots just holding power for too long?
Edit:Im almost positive this is what caused my reboots
My phone was on the charger last night only for me wake up and it was off. Full battery when I powered it on.
Doubt its being turned off my accident.

As I said, some people.. Maybe some is legit but others are this issue..
Or like I said, something related to that. Maybe bugging out or something.. Just seems weird that holding power causes a reboot.
A lot of my reboots were spontaneous when I wasn't even touching the phone. Also when it was charging overnight.

Maybe somehow the phone off has a bug thinking the power button is being held in or just that function bugging out when the phone is off...
Dont know just a thought.but I'm positive this rebooted mine.
Definitively not by accident!! And the damn thing reboots by itself every 5mn for a few times while I was watching it doing that while plugged in, then turns off by itself in the middle oh the night, I'm getting another one, and another one until I get a working one with no light bleed. I'll receive my 3rd one in a few days.

Mine just did it again. I didn't have the problem on the stock rom, CM7, EaglesBlood or any other rom aside from the unofficial Gingerbread leak.
The rom itself it very nice considering CM7 has weird issues of its own, but resetting/locking up is a big no-no.
As I said earlier my phone was off this morning after flashing the leaked rom last night. I wiped several times this morning, flashed Eaglesblood, wiped again, and again, flashed the leaked Gingerbread, wiped and wiped again.
Set the phone up but didn't install any apps (testing). Cooked breakfast; fine, watched a TV show; fine, took a shower; fine, got dressed; fine, stepped outside for a second; locked up.
The phone was on because when I pressed the power button the touch panel lit up. The lockscreen showed for a second then went out. Then it was unresponsive. I held the power button down for a few seconds, which turned the phone off, then held it again to turn it back on.
Sucks. Must be the rom. Weird why the stock didn't do it, nor others. Others are claiming theirs are fine.
It is SO weird how these problems aren't across the board and are so random. Everything points to a kernel which wasn't included in the lacked build. Hopefully when the official one comes out, we'll get an updated kernel to go with it.
I think it's the overheating problem. My first phone was very hot and had 3 reboots in 5 days. New one I have has no reboot yet and doesn't get as hot like the other one. PCs get BSOD or freezing when overheating. G2X gets Black Screen of Death and freezing.

This could very well be. especially since a lot of people have reboots when charging and that generally makes the phones temp higher...
Luckily I'm good...
If I had the rebooting problem, I would definitely exchange my device. I haven't had any reboots or freezes though.

U could be right but my phone shuts down a few times right after charging. But then for the rest of the night it won't shut down anymore. Sometimes it shuts down in the middle of the night too, it's very randomly. How do u explain that?

Hye guys. So I just finished flashing Zeus and Infusion last night. It went without a hitch, and when I went to bed last night everything was working perfectly. But when I woke up this morning, my phone wouldn't turn on. I assumed it had run out of battery, so I plugged it in, but when I did, it made the battery charging sound. I unplugged it, and it made the uncharging sound. When I press the menu and home buttons, it vibrates. I think it's on, but for some reason the screen won't turn on. Help? Thanks.

sleep screen same thing. And from my Experience with them the phone does not shut off completely every thing works except the screen. That's why he's able to here the sounds. When I used to get them the only way I knew it happens most of the time is when I revived a call. The phone would ring and ring (which it could not do if it was off) and I could not answer because of the SOD issue. As I said it's a known issue read up and you will find an answer.

If it's an SOD, you should be able to hold down the power button until the phone reboots. That's been my experience with 3 different ROMs.

Yep. The reboot is the only way to temporally get your phone working again.

Hi All,
I have an issue that I can not find answers for.
My infuse has been working flawlessly from day one. I have the flashed GB OS from here and have never had any issues. Last night I plugged my infuse in to charge overnight as I always do. This morning, I went to unplug it from the charger and noticed it was not on. I held in the power button and nothing. I removed the battery for a few minutes and replaced it, and nothing. I checked the battery with a digital multi meter and it is fully charged. Replaced it back into the phone again and nothing. The phone was working right before I plugged it in last night as I was using it.
Do any of you have any ideas or can you lead me in the right direction?
Thank you,
Frank

As Joe suggested, I guess it is a matter of determining if it's the battery or the phone. If you get a chance, going to an ATT store and having the techs swap out the batteries may help.
You can also try leaving the battery out for a few hours and then trying again.
If not, you can also try the 3 button press and try booting into recovery to see if it is still working or the whole circuit board is fried. Battery contact corrosion has also been reported as well.
If you can get into recovery, wipe the cache before rebooting.

Same exact thing happened to me but it was after I flashed a entropys kernel a few months ago. I took it to att and they tried a new battery and everything. I had to send it back to get replaced...

On some of these devices, after the battery has been pulled for an extended period of time, powering up by holding several buttons for longer than usual may restart it..idk..mostly guesses.
I would have prolly opened it also, depending on warranty.

I switched off my phone for a day and then today when I tried putting it for charge (when the phone was still off) the battery charging sign came for just a second and then stopped. And since then my phone won't turn on.
I don't even know what to do since I don't know what went wrong. It didn't get wet, I didn't bang it anywhere...
The phone won't turn on so I can't get to download mode or recovery
I already tried letting it charge for about 1 hour but still nothing happens

2 reason first you battery is broken secind hard brick or sudden death
Do you have custom rom?

It could be screen problem definitely, same happened to me, so i had to take it to Samsung's center where they gave me new Galaxy 3/Apollo.
It happens because of overclocking or underclocking even by undervoltaging your device. So next time take care.

My battery is relatively new (bought a year ago) and I didn't flash my phone recently.
I am using a custom ROM though. I haven't overclocked my device or undervolted it.
Hmm it's possible that the screen isn't working. I'll switch on the phone and try calling on it to see if it shows as switched off or if it rings. Then I'll come to know if it's a screen fault
I'll report back soon. Thanks!
So about 2 weeks ago, i rooted my phone and flashed over the nightly version of CWM. Ran fine for about a week, afterwards i noticed a big battery drain. Then started the freezes, and finally the random restarting. During this time, it would commonly get my battery percentage wrong( Ex: It would say 20% but then die. I would turn it back on and it would say 5. Take out the battery, put it back in, and it would say something like 12%.) Yesterday, i had about 20% left, and it just turns off. Wont turn back on. I get home, plug it up, and its in a charging screen boot loop. Plug in-Go to charging screen-Turn off-repeat. It will do that repeatedly, as long as it's plugged in. I've looked it up, and it looks like it's the SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) and that Samsung can only fix it under warranty. The problem is, I didn't get this through a carrier contract, i bout it basically new online. Any help? Anyone have advice on how to fix it, or what to do?
Odin back to stock and see if it still happens.
