[GAME]LightsOff - Android Apps and Games

Old Game new concept - please leave Game feature requests in Thread. Although nothing new LightsOff can be really addictive and/or freak you out. Lots of fun if you got it how to solve and watch others who accepted this small challenge.

pritty cool

I'm waiting for your ideas....what could be better? What should change? Anything special to note?
Looking forward to any replies,

New game for android: Time4Destroy

Hello, I would like to present a game that I have developed for Android. It is free and it's my first game: Time4Destroy.
You can download it on the Market, here are a qr code for fast download and a screenshot of it.
Any comments for improvement are welcome.
Thank you.

Dl now...will report back...looks fun.
Not bad at all! Kind of like reverse tetris with a touch screen friendly ui. Definitely a good time waster. Thank you for putting full volume controls in, my boss frowns on gameplay at work.
i've only played the first 3 levels, but so far I like it. It's alot like my wife's favorite psn mini game, which I cannot remember the name right now. And I think that there is also an old popcap game that's similar. But that's not a bad thing.
The only suggestion I have is to space the buttons out a little more across the bottom. They just seem a little cramped when I try to play a little faster.
not my type of game. maybe a good time waster. great job anyway.
thanks for your comments!
Merry Xmas and play Time4Destroy!
It's free!
Game looks good but requires too much permission. Why it wants to reed my contacts???

Play Time4Destroy and see it.
Thanks for your comment.
Hey!
I played it now to level 6 - I really like the game concept and it gets quite addictive!
If you would like to improve the game, I'd suggest to improve the gfx.
Anyways, great work
Cheers!
Thanks! I wait your good comment on android market

Need help! Our game flopped and no idea why!

Hey Guys,
Really loving this community! We released this game on the market last Thursday and only have 12 downloads ATM! We must have screwed something up royally but the only feedback we've had so far has been positive. Perhaps its the name of the game? Or maybe the graphics just look terrible, or what?
Any new name suggestions?
Thanks for any feedback you have!
Erik
Checked it out. I can see where it would be addicting and I'll likely keep it. Honestly though if I wouldn't have stumbled upon your thread here and came across it on the market, I would have never downloaded it. Icon is good but I think the name is what would make me skip it. I don't have any specific suggestions, just try to be a bit more descriptive of what the point is in the title. Also, the menu is a little hard to read and could be confusing for some people I guess. Hope I helped!

The "Fun for all ages" and "Cute fun" text makes me kinda go "eww, a family-friendly game". I think it'd be better off without it at all. A description of what you actually do in the game would be helpful, too.
You cant read the font on LDPI and I would agree with the change of title.
I've not played the game and I don't need too to form an opinion. That is the biggest problem with this game and any game for that matter. People do judge games by their "cover" until of course they get big enough to be talked about/reviewed etc.
It seems to me that you're not really sure who you are aiming the game at. You use graphics that imply this is aimed at 9 year old girls but the language is for geeky teenage boys (and older) with terms like "Rockstah bunneh," or something to that effect.
Look at the comments you have so far (assuming they are not your friends!) They all use wording such as "so cute" "adorable." If this is the route you want to go down then you need to go the whole hog and really target the one specific market.
It takes something very special to appeal to everyone and it may be unrealistic to try on your first game (assuming it is.)
Now I don't mean to sound harsh or overly critical, but this is a game I would never dream of downloading and it appears i'm not alone. With a few tweaks here and there I still wouldn't download it but maybe another demographic would and you could be very successful.
As a final note I could be talking rubbish as I have no particular expertise in the area and your only problem is getting your game recognised in an already over crowded market.
Good luck.

Hello everyone. Firstly i checked it out and have an idea i think you must add an option like using sensors to control the game and maybe the font can be changed.
Maybe then i can help better with my ideas.
Good luck.

This is perfect feedback! Thanks
Now that you said it, I wouldn't ever download a family game either!
I think it was this game i saw on the market this weekend. I was searching for games to play since i had gotten a new ROM and wanted to settle in. I saw the name, saw the icon and the first thought through my mind was "it's probably a little kids game" and instantly just ignored it. I can see how the icon would match the game itself, but the name is just... ehh...
We updated the name and feature graphic. Keep the feedback coming and feel free to make it brutal!
Hopefully with the humor on the graphic people won't think its just for kids?
Just tried it. The game itself is nicely made, but it's not the type of game i would normally play. I see that you have changed some stuff (but not released the update yet) so i can't say if it's better after the changes, but one thing is sure, it needs so much more blood. I want the bunnies to pop like a balloon when they fall to their death.
Fine, i'm joking. Or not?

That would be a lot of fun to make as a separate app, what could we call it?
Maybe I'm just crap at this game but it seems pretty hard...can't get past level 2 haha

Hey there, sorry for you, but dont give up.
I am pretty sure its the bunny on the icon and the first splash screen. It neither sweet nor serious. Its rather a bit scary. ;-)
Try to change this. In my view the little bunnies ingame are sweeter than the one in the icon.
Good luck!

I agree in title change too. Don't give up, the market is also not über easy to find new games sometimes cause they get lost in the sauce quickly.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
Use proper English in the description, call it something catchy instead like Foxes'n'Bunnies (REALLY bad example I know, but you can most likely catch my drift), and I would make a more rounded corner icon
I know others have mentioned it, but I'm throwing another vote in for a change to the title and the general copy of the description.
Currently, the description is vague and comes across as unprofessional. The description gives little information about the mechanics of the game, or even the style of gameplay (does it resemble a puzzle game? A 2D side-scroller? Is it controlled by tilt? Touch?). More information would be useful. The writing itself resembles internet memes more than a game advertisement. General touches such as cleaning up the writing (and perhaps removing the speech bubble over the rabbit's head; it looks like it was done in paint) can go a long way towards conveying professionalism from the developers, which helps consumers to trust both your legitimacy, and the legitimacy of the app. I looked over your website, and it does a solid job of being professional. The design seems reasonable (though I'm not a designer), and the writing is fine. This makes the copy that appears in the description somewhat more puzzling.
That said, it seems like you're on to some good things, and I have a great deal of respect for developers who turn to the community and look for honest feedback in order to improve. Thanks for all your hard work; I'll be keeping an eye out for your future projects. Good luck!
I would give it a better name, the current name isnt very easy to remember. A good name will help your game spread by word of mouth since people will be able to rattle off the name easier.
I'm not sure how app makes market their games, just getting it out here on XDA helps. You could start a thread over in the Android App Devs section if you havent already for your app. Theres a lot of apps out there and its hard to get something new noticed.
Definitely not my type of game. I'm 31 years old and write like a normal human being. I never understood the writing style in the game. It sounds like a 12 year old wrote it. If you took the physics behind the game and made another game themed around something artsy (check out a game called quell) you may get a different response.
I'd step away from the drawing board for a week our so and find someone artsy can look at the objective and build a different theme around it.
I have a few suggestions that may help you get attention.
1.) Better name. "Outfoxed" would be an excellent name.
out·fox
verb /ˌoutˈfäks/
outfoxed, past participle; outfoxed, past tense; outfoxes, 3rd person singular present; outfoxing, present participle
Defeat or deceive (someone) by being more clever or cunning than they are; outwit
2.) You must have a catchy description. "Outfox the sly fox before you become his next lunch."
3.) Please remove the baby talk and "internet meme" phrases. Most people wouldn't understand it and the ones that do would just get annoyed by it. It completely ruins it for most of us.
4.) While the newer icon is better, it still needs work. Try outlining the rabbit with a thicker black line in order to make it pop more. It blends into the background too much as it is.
5.) Social networking. Advertise your game on Twitter/Facebook/Google+. It wouldn't hurt to create a small website with a link to the Google Play download.
6.) Fix the menu screen. That font is terrible on the eyes. Clean it up and make it look more professional. The whole app screams "Coding 101 class project". Take some notes from the successful developers.
You have a good start, but without that extra push it will never go anywhere.
awesome awesome awesome feedback!
Thank you guys so much! We will remove the LOLCats speak, I didn't realize its like baby talk but I guess it makes sense.
Outfoxed! That's not bad

HELP WANTED!!!! Devs, coders, grapic artist and all!

Hello, I'm posting this tread because I have searched every inch of the market/internet for a good First person-Role playing game in real time. I know about "Deadly dungeons", don't get me wrong it's a great game but its not in real time and not free roaming.
So, see that it might take awhile for someone to make said game, I've decided to make one myself. Only one problem. I don't know any code, and I suck at graphics. I'll be doing plots, quest, main quest, and music. So I'm looking for a team who would like to help me put this together. It will be a paid for app will a free trial so in the end, if it is any good there will be money. No guarantees thought. But seeing as it will be the first of it's kind, there is a good chance.
Imagine a game like "The Elder Scrolls" or like the iOS game "Necromancer's Rising". That is what I'm looking for. So if your interested in seeing this come to life, PM me and I'll give you my email ASAP.
Please, I know many people are waiting for such a game, and there is money in it IF it is completed and turns out well, but that all depends on how hard your willing to work. Think of how many "These guys just made my day for making this game" there will be. I personally am a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan, I mean I got every game. From Arena to Skyrim. That is what starting my love for, as I call them FPRTRPG games.
Hope to be hearing from you guys!
-Andrew
P.S If you are not interested, or not a developer or what now, please spreed the word, if you know someone who might want to help, tell them about this.
If you don't know any code and wouldn't be doing the graphics what exactly would your contribution be?
Yeah what you be contributing besides an idea? And if you can contribute and would like to make a team with some people, im starting to learn coding and would love to help out if i can. Pm me if interested

This would be awesome. I'd love a good first person RPG. I have not found a single RPG on Android I like. I like turn based but they are all the same now. I prefer real time RPGs. A game called Earth and Legacy is very close to what I want to play, but lacks a storyline. I can program but I am not familiar with building a gaming engine.

good point :/
Normally you would be right. But i thing this one's a bit different. Why? The author said it's a role playing game in 3D. Yep it's quite hard coding but don't forget about a plot... it would be freakin hard to think up entire world, characters, etc., etc... so his effort could be great, only if he has some ideas of course
If anything I could try to think of worlds names and the story plot , if it's needed. I've played MMORPG's all my life and know what's a good story plot and etc would be like
Guys, you did notice the op only has 2 post and only joined a few weeks ago. He hasn't posted here yet. I think we might have a troll

I will be the plotters and "world make for lake of better word. I'll be thinking up characters, quests, and that stuff. If you guys have any ideas ill be open To recive them
I want this to be a team effort. I will be also working with music.

Shake 'n' Roll Labyrinth

Hello,
Shake 'n' Roll Labyrinth is my first Android game. As an 3D Artist it has been very important for me, to create a real 3D look with a realistic rolling ball, nice shadows and realistic collisions. I think this is, what makes it real diffrent from the others. A real hard thing was to find good balance between performance, look and quality. I used Samsung Galaxy S with 2.3.3 as the reference.
It would great, if someone want's to test it and give me feedback, to make it better.
You can download it for free on google play.
Cheers
Thomas
Seems nice
Congratulations on your first app, u reminded me when i created my first one
It seems nice, i will try it and let you know
---------- Post added at 05:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:50 PM ----------
welldone Thomas, I tried the game it is working well on GS2 except one minor issue below, also i liked the splash logo
Issue: there is a slight flickering feeling even if i am not shaking or titlting the phone
Good luck
Hello Karim,
right before uploading it, on one hand I felt very excited and on the other very afraid. I'm so proud that the error reports still count ZERO cause I could not test it on different hardware/OS combinations!
I'm really happy about Unity 3D. In the beginning it was hard for me to find a game engine that fits to my ideas. I started the project with build in stuff and ended up with scripting everything. Really creazy for me, as I'm a visual Artist.
For me, Unity 3d is a great peace of software and it is for free. It is alright for me, to show their splash screen, till I'll buy the pro version.
I'll check the flicker issue and try to fix it.
Thank you so much
Thomas
Shake 'n' roll labyrinth - free game - version 1.06 out now!
Hello,
Shake 'n' roll labyrinth - version 1.06 out now!
- There is now a pirate mode. First of all you have to find the ghost ball. If you found it, you'll see the ghost ship. You'll have to sink it with your cannonball to reveal the treasure - the gold star. The ghost can push you into the holes. But it can also help you to become faster. Let the ghost push you through bottlenecks by which you otherwise would not fit through.
- There is a pixie mode. Lots of glitter and 10% time bonus on your score if you can find the butterfly.
- A new Easy mode. Here you can play a classic labyrinth. Some holes are capped, however.
- If you prefer vintage and sophisticated mode, then play the pro mode. With no cover and plink plink.
- If you would like to compete with the rest of the world, you can submitt your scores to the Openfeint social gaming community. Check out, what your buddies and friends do.
- Another quick message on Facebook - no problem.
Enjoy the game.
Cheers
Thomas

It looks good, but I hate Open Feint so much I can't install it. Is there any chance you might be willing to offer a spam-free version, or take it out completely?
Thanks!

It is possible to say No to openfeint. You don't have to sign up.
I decided to integrate it cause of the leaderboard and facebook. I thought it would be cool to have something like this.
At the beginning I was trying to make my own scoreboard. But it looked like in the 80's. I thought it should me more up to date.
Is openfeint a spam community? I did not allow to read phone state.
It is no problem for me to compile a openfeint free version, if people prefer something like that.
Do you think this makes sence for more than you you?
@kcls
The system requirements are : android 2.1 or higher (better)
and a arm7 cpu.I'm testing the performance with a samsung galaxy s. If it is all right there, then it all right for me.
Saying no doesn't stop then from taking up space on my sd card with their folder, or redirecting me every time I open the app if I delete the folder. Not a huge deal, was just curious. Thanks for the app.

@Droidificator.
I agree. I removed openfeint! I'll itntegrate my own highscore board. It will respect your privacy.
Thank's for opening my mind.
Awesome! I wish more devs were open to the idea. They don't pay you guys to include it do they? I certainly don't want to take any money away from devs over this, I'm just a little neurotic about sd card space since I got the One S.
Thanks again!
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium
You don't get paid. They just give you something (Leaderboard, Achievements, Online Community, facebook, twitter). You have to give them something in return. Permissions.
It is not so easy for a one man show (like me) to integrate all these features. You need to run a sql database for the score board, need to go through different sdk's and and and. Openfeint gives you something like that out of the box.
I like to compete with others. Thats why the scoreboard is so important for me.
I was testing my own sql scoreboard and wasn't too happy with it. You know - I don't know too much about sql. Thats why I kicked my own leaderboard in the trash and decided to use openfeint.
Now it looks like I have to get it out of teh trash can.
Thanks anyway!
Cheers

Just a bit curious, but what kind of view did you use to implement the game ? Did you use a custom view from scratch or build on top of an existing one?
Also I think implemented another button --> View for instruction would be a good idea!
And I must agree with moto, keeping even small updates will help spread the word of your app -- what good is it if every user that tries says its boring because lack of content updates!!
@motodroidfreak
Ok i will change that both versions get updates.
@dongjl
the game is build with the corona SDK. i dont understand your 2 question.
Please describe it a bit more.
You will get a instruction and a other button.
I will change that with the updates both version gets updates!
Thx for the feedback

A game like Doodle Jump.
Works well. Didn't have a problem with my Galaxy Tab.
A short help would be nice.
How did you implement the ads in the free version? "Download a FREE game!". Never saw something like that.
Its not difficult with RevMob. You only need one line...
