Hey,
i noticed that my phone is longer active than i use it

Because you enabled Background Data and auto-sync - nothing to worry.

Backgroud data = yes
Auto-sync = no
thats my settings since i have the phone ^^ but now it won't sleep anymore

Exchange ActivePush keeps the phone active, Latitude too. You could use the App Process Monitor, but everything looks perfectly normal.

oh, maybe i should mention that my mobile data is always off...
the phone is offline and tries to sync?

Ok, that is wierd.
You could try Process Monitor Widget from the Market to record processes running on your phone.
Its hard to tell what Process keeps your phone running.

I know you said you have mobile data turned off ...but like ItsDace has mentioned earlier - could you try logging out of / disabling Google Latitude?
it worked well in extending my battery's life.
edit: on a closer look - your mobile data does not seem to be off ... the screenshot you gave shows 'green' icons for 3G... meaning you are connected to google services over data network?

thx, i will try!

[IDEA] WIFI Controlled by location

WIFI Controlled by location, eg. You select area's on Google maps for wifi coverage, wifi is turned on only for these locations and off elsewhere, saving battery.
If latitude is used then could location data be used from that service?
What do you think?

I would love something like this. Had a feeling something existed already but I can't find it.
check out locale
There's a free app already that does this--Y5 Battery Saver
Very buggy though when I tried it, so it wasn't usable.

i use locale for this. though i installed a cell plugin so it doesnt need gps to be on.
basically, it turns on wifi when im home and turns it off when i leave. apart from that... i also have locale turn off almose everything + brightness to 0% when i hit 30% battery.
lastly, i also have locale turn off syncing at night to squeeze in some more juice during the day without having to charge.

Couldn't have said it better, better yet, I have it set to turn wifi on at home and then when not home it turns wifi on for a minute every 15 minutes to check and if it recognizes a familiar SSID, it will connect!

Problems with GPS

Hey guys, i had a question, and forgive me mod's if there is already a thread for this. Let me know and i'll post in there. But i was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. My shift's gps is not working, nor has it since i got it about a month ago. I've tried everything from downloading gps toolbox, to trying to to update the gpsone tab in qpst. Now, when i go to enter in the server ip address in gps, and the other settings, i write them to the phone, try turning on gps toolbox, standing in one place for 5 or so mins, nothing, not one damn satelite. I go back into qpst, and all my settings in gpsone tab are gone. Wtf? Anyone having this same problem?

When you flash a rom, do you first thing connect up to your wifi before you sign in to your google account?

I figured out GPS for the most part. Please read my earlier post:

2) After spending lots of time on GPS I found that getting the first lock is the most important thing and then it just works.
As of this time my opinion on GPS is that I am still unsure as to whether or not fasterfix changes anything but wireless assistance is definitely needed to get a good first lock and is used by some apps in acquiring location.
If you don't get more than 2 satellites in GPS status and it takes a long time to get those 2 satellites GPS hasn't gotten it's proper first lock yet.
This has nothing to do with having the GPS getting a lock in sense. It seems the GPS needs to use wireless assistance first to get the lock (contact sprint servers or something) and then it works pretty well. Still experimenting to figure out how exactly the GPS works and what the optimal settings are for it.

So yeah, try fasterfix and set to north america NTP Server and then in GPS status hit the menu button -> tools -> reset AGPS data and then menu tools -> download gps assistance data

Haha no problem and good luck! Make sure you keep us updated! GPS has frustrated the heck out of me for the past month. That's the best I can come up with at this point. Need to have wireless assistance on and the first time you boot the phone on any rom you should be outside and get a good lock with a clear view of the sky. After that it's good to go.

So, should I flash my rom again? and avoid setting up google account, then run the apps?

No just go to GPS settings, turn on use wireless networks, use faster fix, then open maps and try and get your location while outside and with a clear view of the sky. The GPS icon will stop flashing in the status bar when it has a lock. It will stay in the status bar as a solid icon, meaning that it is locked.
Then run GPS status and see how many satellites you get. You should get at least 4-5+ (up to 9) when GPS is working properly.

No longer than 30 seconds if you have good reception.
Spoke with OP via IRC, he is flashed on Metro PCS. Seems like he isn't flashed properly and also doesn't have MMS working. If anyone has any Metro PCS knowledge please feel free to chime in.

Keep WIFI ON during sleep via email check interval?

Hello,
I understand that WP7 turns off WIFI when the screen is locked/phone goes to sleep.
I believe that Microsoft should provide an option where the user (paying money for the device and expecting some options) is given the option to set WIFI to always ON, but it seems Microsoft is not of that opinion despite many users complaining.
Anyway, here's what I'd like to know:
If one sets one of his email accounts to check every 15 minutes while Cellular Data is turned OFF and WIFI is turned ON, does phone turn WIFI ON during sleep every 15 minutes to check the email account or does it default to the 2-hour wake-up/check?
Thanks for your answers in advance.
No answer? Bump
simple:
put phone to sleep, send yourself email, wait 15min ...
but to awnser your question: no
and yea it sucks
keep the screen on or make sure to check from time to time...

I live in Canada so cannot download Spotify, but will test with Skype although if it actually worked, the forums would have been filled with this solution.

40% Drained by andriod.gms

Attached images from BBS and andriod battery stats, how to fix/prevent this ?
Doesn't look so bad. Have you googled android.gms
That process is the generic name for all Google Play Services. Could be any number of reasons why it is doing that from location services to a sensor continuously getting polled.
Go into BBS and check the exact name of the wakelock.

So a 40% drain over 10hrs is not bad?

From the Alarms section (the one you posted) click on the "com.google.android.gms" line.
This should bring up another window with the actual name of the wakelocks and how many times each one occurred.

GCM is Google Cloud Messaging. But honestly that's all I've got. I've never even heard of the service. It is some kind of push service that requires a server and configuration of the phone. No clue why your phone is trying to connect to a server though unless you set it up.

Same, maybe try deleting your Google account. Or do a fresh install.
What rom are you using? I've been having the same problem in my missus' phone running cm11

Nearly similar here
I've tried to disable the Location Service at all but still the phone remains on "Remain Active" without never rest, anyway it's very strange because some days ago I've never had of this problem, could be a PA gapp issue or ROM?

Solved!
Try to update Google Play Service from this link, reboot and fully recharge.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dium=organic&utm_term=google+play+service+apk
-Tapatalked with Nexus5-
Good that yo solved it, mine is still recurring..
Options:
1. Assuming data and wifi are already off, try turning of the sync too. Turn off Location reporting, open google maps, log out your google account there. If your problem still occurs, check other options.
2. Other option if you have donate version of greenify, just greenify it.
3. Other option is using android tuner, you can disable gcm manually, more info on link

Mi4i sucking away mobile data plan on lockscreen!?

Hey,
I own an Mi4i now and installed MIUI 6.6.6.0 and updated to 6.6.8.0 - so far so good, everything seems to work very snappy and without lags. But - I configured everything yesterday evening and left my phone idling around during the night wit 82% battery. Today morning, the battery was at 23% and I received a text from my mobile provider telling me, that my mobile data plan for this month has reached the limit. WTF?!?!? I THEN saw, that there was an info on the lockscreen telling me, that 350.4MB are being used on the lockscreen. WTF?!?!?!?!? What's going on here? What's sucking away my mobile data?!?!? All I am running is push with GMail ... can someone help?!?!?!
open Security icon on Homescreen > Data usage > Data usage stats ..
see what's eating your data there.
It's GMail ?!?!?!!? Why is it automatically downloading SO much?! I just had 8 mails this morning?!?!?!
