W7 on inspire 4g

I saw HD2 running Android and w7. So maybe we can have w7 OS run on inspire too. I am not a dev so I can't port OS to inspire but it would be nice to see some devs might be interested in it. Again just a thought.

Who knows it might be possible. But answer me this. Why not just get a wm7 phone? Ive seen people asking about this and ios being put on an andriod phone. Why not just get the the operating systems respective phone?

Sure we all can buy respected OS phones but if you can kill two birds with one stone then.... We all flash diff roms every day so w7 is just another Rom.

While I agree I'm guilty of flashing a new Rom just about everyday but at the core of all Roms its still gb or froyo. Wp7 is a new os altogether. Maybe I just dont understand the desire to have it on this phone unless you like the specs of this phone over regular wm 7 phones perhaps.

There's a reason why you see an "Android Development" section in almost all native Windows Mobile phone forums. Windows Mobile seems nice, but eventually you realize that you bought the wrong phone.
You don't see a "Windows Mobile Development" section in any native Android phone forum do you?
Why. Just... OMG; why?

Lol'd at your comment.
In my opinion, Android OS is far better than W7 OS. Friends of mine that have a W7 phone, complain that it slows down and often needs a reboot.

You Flash New Roms because each New Rom is almost like getting a brand new phone every single time.
I love to Flash New Roms. I've tried just about every single android sd & nand Rom that is out there... When I heard I could flash WP7 OS to my HD2 I just had to do it! The temptation for another New, Uncharted, Undiscovered Rom was simply unbearable. If someone ports WP7 for the Inspire people will Flash it. My Roommate will be the first.

[Q]About Windows phone?

Since WP7 is so smooth and fast,

This is a new, refreshing and interesting question that no one has ever asked.

Hi,
WP7 will not run on a Sensation.
Curious to the reason as to why? Is this "impossible"?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
It is illegal
Android is open source, Windows isn't and needs a license

Hi,
WM is not open source.
Nevermind that then... Always worth a question... Grants knowledge

windows 7 or 8
The illegality isn't question on this site - or does it? You can find lot of devices which has windows ROM different than the original version. These devices has licence only the original version of windows, so I think that is same illegal.
Well, the question is: has any physical limitation (drivers, hardware) of this development? Anybody start to work on this curious job?

Wp7 on android pre-installed phone

I was wondering if I could flash a wp7 rom (lastest build) to my android phone (Motorola triumph 2.3.7 gb) ? Is that even possible?
Sent from my Motorola Triumph using xda premium
It's possible in theory since the Triumph uses Snapdragon processor.
Unfortunately, no one has publicly been able to port Windows Phone OS to Android devices.
Wp7 isn't open source, so it won't happen...
Other than hd2, no phone has windows phone ported

it would be frowned upon by microsoft for licensing... but who cares about EULA's ? i don't.
i'd imagine the small, incremental changes in chipsets would be problematic for the drivers to handle... given how driver updates have gone in windows in the past, and there is no driver update service on wp.

in xda some friends ported succesfully wp7 on toshiba tg01
and even there are some troubles like camera and signal otherwise it work
therefore maybe one day...
Technically HTC evo should be able to have a port but i don't think there is enough demand for it

Sad but true
I really hope it will NEVER happen because we paid a lot of money to have Microsoft OS. I could buy a Galaxy S phone than install Windows Phone on it instead of buying an Omnia 7 paying 70/80 euros more...

[Q] Dual Boot With Windows

Hey guys,
Had a quick thought and there's a couple of threads on a few forums about it but none of them have been active since this time last year.
Does anyone think a Xoom could dual boot between Android 4.0.4 and windows 7 or 8?
no
Only if NVidia produces win8 drivers for the Tegra2, which is never going to happen.

Well nothing impossible but No you wont be able to and likely never will. As others have said is closed source BUT it IS possible to run on our device but because we cannot get to sources we cannot get it to go on out device If we some how got the sources then yes it would more than likely be ported to our device. Would take a very very long time as all drivers would need to be written for our device and i cant see any dev putting that much time and effort in on a project like that
KernelDev101 is right. The hardware could run it, in the same way that any PC can run Windows or Linux (or even MacOS!), but porting Windows 8 to the phone is another story. The opposite would be easier, I mean, porting Android to a Windows8 phone and it has been done before. Somebody even tried to port Android to an old Dell PDA and it worked, but the old hardware couldn't do very much of use due to the requirements of a much younger software.
The main problem of porting Windows8 to any Android (or whatever) phone is pretty much the same as porting IOS: The source code is not available to public so you would need to do a lot of reverse engineering and trial and error and you probably would end with a version of it that supports only partially your hardware. Not because it is impossible to support it in full but because it would require a considerable effort to achieve a full working port.
Damn y'all smart Lol
