I deleted the default browser from my lg optimus m for metropcs after root. thought i had a back up for the root, but didn't, and restored to factory settings, now i don't have any web browser at all, and android market does not work. it starts downloading an app, and goes to 100%, afterwards the application crashes and there is nothing on the phone and nothing in downloading list anymore..it just vanishes.. also, i have gmail on the phone but it does not show any new mail. although it does go the inbox...Navigation does not work either.is this because i do not have a web browser? youtube does work.
I tried downloading web browser on the sd card from another phone and putting it on my phone, but i cannot see it at all.
What can i do to to put a web browser without using the market? and once i do get a browser will this fix all the other stuff?
I didn't really delete anything after root other than bloatware.

I did the same thing....easiest thing to do is remove all you root info, super user and any other things that were not on the phone. take it back to metro and have them replace it. say that you were just on the phone with someone the phone turned off and now you are missing apps. they replaced mine with no issues. or you can find the LGNPST 1.2 store model and both the LGNPST components 5.0.12.0 and generics 5.0.10.0 restore your phone. you will also need the files to reload the stock software.....
You could pull the browser.apk from another rom and push it to the phone in adb or make a flashable zip or just reflash the rom.

Download Unsuccessful
In order for me to flash files via CWM, I have to download from my computer and then transfer the file to my phone. Does any one know why this is occurring? I've tried restarting phone, turning on wifi, clearing download manager cache/data, turning off/on data, nothing seems to work!

I use an app called Download All Files in the Market to fix any issues downloading files using the stock browser.
I have a great solution to your download problem and you probaly have it installed on your desktop. Try using mozilla firefox from the market to download your file. I had the same problem.

+1 on this. If you are using the stock browser, it cannot download most file types. If you don't want to switch to Dolphin HD or Opera, just grab Download All Files from the Market.
Astro File Manager has an option to enable all browser downloads as well.
Whenever I download anything from stock browser it shows error "Cannot finish download there is not enough space".Empty space on phone is 50MB and on card is 1.5GB. I am using Cincinnati Bell update.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
If you're downloading from your phone then most files are stored on internal. If you download to your PC first you can direct/place the download on your SD. Go into applications and move some apps to SD to free your internal. Just remember that some apps might not operate well on SD so be careful what you move.

I am not talking about apps. Even a pdf file of less than 100kb shows the same error.
Thing you can do.
1. Reflash Cincinnati bell update make sure you whipe all data.
2. Try a different rom.

I uninstalled stock browser as well as download manager.
I downloaded third party download manager.
I am using Dolphin browser so how to change default download manager of dolphin?
I found the issue myself upon a factory reset of my EVO 3D. The issue is the location of where Dolphin is trying to download to. You have to use root explorer or a file-browsing program and find somewhere valid to save to, mine was /mnt/sdcard/. In Dolphin there's a setting to change this (Settings -> Data Storage Settings -> Download Directory).
After installing VB, I am unable to download any pdf or excel files, etc. it just tells me download unsuccessful. I tried clearing data to no avail. Any thoughts?
Jesse
Try a different browser from the market. I had a similar issue downloading zip files on the stock browser.

This is the first app I install on my phones. I never trust the default browser app. Glad you found Dolphin HD.
Not certain if this is the only way to get the latest versions of Dolphin Browser, Adobe Flash Player and Jellybean to play nice together, but this is a method that worked for me.
With this method I believe that you will have to choose between an unchangeable "Always On" or "On Demand" in Dolphin, because I think the software only limits your ability to make changes to the Flash setting, and since the default is normally Off when one downloads from the play store, normally one can't activate Flash without getting the slap on the hand "you can't do that" from Dolphin. The trick here is to save a copy of the Dolphin ICS settings which allow Flash use and then restore those on JB.
This is how it worked for me.
You need:
1. A device running ICS which probably needs to be rooted.
2. Your device running Jellybean which probably needs to be rooted.
3. Titanium backup on both device
4. A version of the Flash Player apk to side load which you can download (they are still available if you Google search) or a Titanium backed up version that you already made.
Turn off automatic backup from your Google account on your JB device.
On your ICS device install Titanium backup and Dolphin from the market. Open Dolphin, go to settings and turn on Flash content. Exit Dolphin. Open Titanium backup and make a backup of Dolphin and Flash player if that is how you will be getting Flash. Now you need to copy those backup files to your Jellybean device. There are several ways to do so which I won't cover here.
On your Jellybean device uninstall any copies of Dolphin and Flash you may already have on there. You can backup your bookmarks first if you wish but can't do a full backup and restore of all your settings because they will overwrite what we are going to do. Now, with a clean Jellybean, install titanium backup from the market if you don't already have it. Open titanium backup and find that dolphin backup you moved from the ICS device. Restore the app and data. Open Dolphin and go to settings and see that Flash is enabled but don't touch the toggle. Close Dolphin. Now either restore the Flash app in Titanium, or install it from an apk you found on the net
That's it.
Open Dolphin and you should now be able to use Flash, and pinch zoom.
If it was me I would never touch the flash toggle in Dolphin, and I wouldn't let Dolphin update either until we know the newer versions will work as well.
Your mileage may vary, but this worked for me. "Thanks" are appreciated if this works for you.
Good luck and please excuse any typos or mistakes as I was typing this in the car as my daughter was driving (scary)
UPDATE: This method works for Dolphin Beta Browser as well which has improved HTML5 compatibility.
UPDATE See post 3 and post 4 below for possible other methods to get it working without Titanium backup.
As gjc found, deleting the file /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml may allow Dolphin Beta Browser to regenerate the file setting Flash to "On Demand"
As I found below, deleting the file data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml may allow the normal Dolphin Browser to regenerate the file setting Flash to "Always On"
So basically, this has allowed me to use Dolphin Browser to browse with Always On and Dolphin Beta Browser for when I wish to browse with the setting "On Demand" which, if not the best of all worlds, at least allows us to use Flash as we see fit.
Some testing and confirmation from others would be nice on these methods as what works for us may not necessarily work for you.
There must be something in the Dolphin program data that is telling it whether or not to allow flash. If we could find that than maybe we will only need to modify a single file. Until then thanks for confirming it works from Titanium.

The setting is in:
/data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml
I have tried changing this but dolphin changes it back
Edit: However, if you delete this file and then reopen dolphin, it recreates the file with the setting at 'on demand'

Cool. So if one only wants "On demand" one can use that method and if one wants "always on" one can use the original method.
I've noticed that with a lot of sites, particularly those that use Flowplayer, the "on demand" feature doesn't work so lately I have just kept it on "always on" since with a combo of Adaway and the new speed of JB pages aren't loading slowly as much anymore and that way every page seems to mostly work.
Thanks for the additional info! Do you mind if I add it to the OP giving you credit?
Update Hmmm. Tried deleting that file and it still stayed at Always on for me. So I uninstalled both Dolphin and Dolphin beta. Rebooted. Then Reinstalled Dolphin. Went to settings and it showed Flash as off. I then went to go delete the file and the com.dolphin.browser.lab.en is no longer there???
Update again. Figured out what is happening. The files you referred to are actually for the Dolphin Beta Browser. When installed that (had to side load because it is not available in the playstore for my JB device) then those files showed up. I was able to replicate that deleting that xml file caused the Dolphin Beta Browser to go from No Flash to On Demand.
Not sure where the equivalent files are located for the normal Dolphin Browser though.
3rd Update Found it! For the normal Dolphin Browser that you can download from the playstore right now, the file that needs to be deleted is:
data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml
When I deleted this and restarted Dolphin Browser then it went from "Off" to "Always On"
Weird that it is different from the Beta browser, but that is what happened for me.
Anyone else want to test this out?
Confirmed working!
At first I tried renaming the file and it would just change the file name back. Downloaded the one from the play store. Thanks for the tip!

All videos, or a particular one? If you post which one I would be happy to test on my transformer prime tablet with baked JB rom to see if it is device or rom related.

Hmm.
Not sure if it rom, phoine or method related because I just went to ESPN.com and the front page lets you watch live TV and it works fine on my transformer prime on Dolphin Browser on Baked JB Rom.
Maybe try my first method rather than the xml file delete method?

Can you give me a specific site you are going to in which it doesn't work, and the rom and device you are using?
I'm all little confused you say in the OP 'You can backup your bookmarks first if you wish but can't do a full backup and restore of all your settings because they will overwrite what we are going to do'
How would you back up bookmarks without a full backup and restore? I thought that was the only way.
The latest update to Dolphin Browser (regular, 8.8.1) prompts on start up after deleting the xml that flash cannot be used.
The Beta still switched to on demand though, which isn't bad.
Edit:
Deleting it then doing a restart on the phone seems to have done the trick and did not prompt me that Flash is not supported.
Not to downplay the OP but I was able to install these Apk's successfully on my unrooted Nexus 7. I just went to the Play Store, downloaded 'Apk installer app. Then after download in dolphin 8.5.1apk and the Adobe Flash ICS apk, I then used the Apk installer app to install both applications. Almost forgot, I did check off the Unknown sources tab under settings > security > device administration > unknown sources. Thank you for posting all the apk files. They were very helpful! I now love my Nexus even more!
It seems i cannot find the folder or file:
data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml
i am using dolphin 8.8.1 any1 having same problems?
I use the same version , can delete the file , after reopen browser its regenerate - see the date of attached XML. Under the settings flash always on , but freeze the dolphin with flash . For example WWW.budacash.hu

I Found the answer to all our problems it seems... no special steps todo...
Step 1 install the latest flashplayer http://d-h.st/7Ds
Step 2 Go to the play store and install firefox (yes firefox..)
Step 3 go to the Settings and set plug-ins: 'On'
after doing this i just went for a test to the above named link budacash and it worked perfectly..
Can anyone confirm my founds?
I have no time to check now. Later will. please check one more site:
If everything fine u should see a sheet with currencies and the rate of it changing sec by seconds.
Thx.
