After installing VB, I am unable to download any pdf or excel files, etc. it just tells me download unsuccessful. I tried clearing data to no avail. Any thoughts?

Try a different browser from the market. I had a similar issue downloading zip files on the stock browser.

It also requires an altered version of flash. The file is floating around somewhere in this section.
Here is the altered flash.
use this one here has everything you need, except 7zip on your pc... winrar doesnt work... and its a newer version
If you want I have a work hulu apk that I have been using. Just send me a PM and ill email it to you

Not sure whether you're looking to use the Hulu app or the browser but I have the app working fine on Fresh. Just look for Ava's ROM thread, the app and the modified flash are there. I flashed the app, uninstalled Flash using Titanium, rebooted then installed the modified flash using Astro and it works fine. HTH and all credit goes to Ava and others in that thread that have posted.

I'm having the same exact problem.
No issues here, downloading .apk files from getjar.com just fine.
You might/want/try to install a file manager like ES File Explorer or Astro, and it might work.

Try going into Astro and enabling file downloads then.
ANYWAYS.. *I* have no issues, and didn't have to install Astro and enabling anything.

Astro did it. THANK YOU
Its because when you're not rooted the browser only downloads your basic files. that's my guess anyway.

Astro automatically installed from my titanium backup when I first rooted. Didn't work so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.. Still nothing. I don't have astro on my N1 but have absolutely no problems downloading a link right from stock browser. Whenever I click on the link it appears to start the dl but says download unsuccessful.

Just having astro installed isn't enough... you have to go into its settings and enable file downloads.
I'd also grab an app called "Download Crutch Lite."
It's not avaliable on the market for some reason, but a quick google search should turn up the APK.

Affirmative, then it should work like a charm. I was downloading all kinds of things last night (not really, but I experimented with three different file types, .rar, .zip, and .apk, and they all worked seamlessly.

Well yes. Thank you but of course I have done that. I'm still unable to download from the browser using the browser. Wait... WAS still unable to dl from the browser. I feel like I've never owned another android! lol I restarted my phone
Haven't been having any issues downloading... is it a certain file type? Have a link i can try? So far I've only downloaded various *.pdf's and the firefox *.apk, both which worked fine without any apps or setting tweaking.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT! I really appreciate it

I have the same problem with certain apps from the market (Air Attack HD and Tune Wiki to name a few). I get the message that it "can't install to SD card and I think it also says something about USB. I have gone into BAMF Toolkit and "Application Install Location" and tried all three options and still does not want to work. I read in one post that there is a Market App fix, but I've tried searching for it with no luck. Any help on this would be appreciated
I get the same error with angry birds

Pulling the SD card prior to download did not work for me. I am only getting the error on certain apps. Tune Wiki for example will not install from Market. I then went to their web page and tried to install the app directly (as an attachment from my email) and it won't install from there either. That makes me think that there is a remnant of the program somewhere on my phone or some other error that is preventing this and has nothing to do with the Market App. Does anyone have suggestions. I've installed Root Explorer on my phone, but not exactly sure where I should be looking and what I should be deleting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running BAMF 1.6.3.
Read a post about clearing market cache. Still no love. Gonna keep trying. Let's keep this post alive until we figure this out.
Yeah, I tried deleting the Market cache and cleared data and that didn't help. I don't think it is a Market issue though (read my post a couple up), since I can download most apps from the Market. The only ones I have problem with are ones that were previously on my phone, and this is not all of the previous apps, just some of them. Also attempting to install a app (one that I had trouble with from Market) from an email attachment also will not install. Are others that are having this problem having the same symptoms: can download some apps, can't install problem apps from email either?
So I need to back track as now my Market App is not installing anything. I've tried what others have suggested go into Manage Programs and delete cache, clear data and force stop Market app, and that has just made matters worse.
Recently, I have been unable to download any sort of file from my phone. Every attempt begins with

Download Unsuccessful
In order for me to flash files via CWM, I have to download from my computer and then transfer the file to my phone. Does any one know why this is occurring? I've tried restarting phone, turning on wifi, clearing download manager cache/data, turning off/on data, nothing seems to work!

I use an app called Download All Files in the Market to fix any issues downloading files using the stock browser.
I have a great solution to your download problem and you probaly have it installed on your desktop. Try using mozilla firefox from the market to download your file. I had the same problem.

+1 on this. If you are using the stock browser, it cannot download most file types. If you don't want to switch to Dolphin HD or Opera, just grab Download All Files from the Market.
Astro File Manager has an option to enable all browser downloads as well.
I had problems with my GS3 and decided to ODIN back to stock. I then took all the OTA updates. Now, I have the Google Play Store no connection error. I have rooted the phone with towelroot and would very much like to use the Google Play Store. I used total commander to manipulate the etc/hosts file, but that did not work either. I have also factory reset many times.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

Yes, it did not work. The problem persists.
Anyone else have any ideas?
All I know is to delete "hosts" from "etc" folder. I can look in to it a little more. Until then, try deleting host again.

Edit the hosts file, there should be two lines of text and numbers. Put a "#" in the very front of the second line of text.
