My TB stopped downloading applications and is giving me an error that says that there was a error and it couldn't download the app. I have reset my phone multiple times and am finding no resolution, any ideas?
try this: go to settings>>applications>>manage applications>> all>>then scroll down to the market app and select it>> clear the cache, clear data and force stop it. Then back out and open the market app normally, agree to the terms and try downloading the app, it might be working again.
Unfortunately it still isn't functioning correctly. :-( I emailed Google and they weren't of much help...
I had a thread about this. Go find it. My network settings were corrupt but being backed up/restored. It's in the Thunderbolt q/a forum. Sorry but I can't easily link to it from my phone.

Clear the cache
Try going into the application manager and clear the cache. I had constant force closes in market and clearing my cache fixed it.
I'm guessing you changed the original theme? it seems some kernel versions doesn't go too well with changing the xml from your themes or whatever. the only thing i can think of is to back-up, reflash the system and restore everything but the theme.
If clearing the cache doesn't work then try to uninstall vending.apk and reinstalling.

I have just recently rooted my nexus one 2.2 froyo. Tried cleaning out the cache in the market but will not stay cleared. All other apps clear out with no problem. I go into applications, manage apps, go to the market and click clear cache. It clears it out. Go into my market and all the old apps I went looking for over the past few months since I had this phone are all there. Go back to the manage apps setting and all the cache imfo is back on. The white light saying clear cache is back all lit up again. Why won't market clear out cache but all other apps do?????
Any imfo would help me.
Thank you Vinny.
So after turning my phone on today, I can no longer see the previous free applications that I had installed on my phone.
Is there a known reason for this or I'd something wrong?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
This happened to me once, I opened the Market app and there were purchased apps only.
You need to have root to do this, but it's save.
First, clean the cache (Cache Cleaner NG is nice, but you can use "Manage applications" for that), then delete all files from /data/dalvik-cache/ and immediately reboot. Hopefully, problem will be solved.
Be aware that the system will be booting longer than usual - it needs to recreate all the cache. You may gain some space in your phone memory in the process.
Cool, thanks. And yea I have root so ill go and get the application now.
Ill report back when something happens.
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
Well I coudln't get that to work but I DID find an alternative just in case anyone else has this problem.
Basically, Google only follows your paid applications, not the free ones. So when you re root and start over again and if you restore from Titanium Backup, you're technically not installing the applications from the market, hence them not showing up.
I found a program called aTrackDog, which is free, and actually checks to see if your installed apps (whether they be from the market or not) and if there is a newer version on the market, it gives you the option to download and install.
Again, the app is called aTrackDog and I'm using it now, looking good to me.
AppBrain's App Market will do the same thing when you sync it, just to throw in there.
Happens to my rooted aria all the time. No need to wipe davlik just open settings/apps then find market and clear cache, market will then rebuild links. And TBP will most definitely restore links to market despite claims to the contrary above

Thanks for posting, ill clear the market's cache right now. After I clear it is there anything else I.have to do or just wait a while?
And what is tbp?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
Hmm, cleaning just the cache did nothing immediately, that's why I assumed I need to delete dalvik as well.
TBP - Titanium Backup Pro, I think
Ever since i followed the root procedure here, none of my installed apps show up under Market>My Apps. It searches for a second, then comes up empty. I can install apps just fine if i search>install. I've cleared the data under Settings>Applications>Market numerous times, uninstalled updates, etc. Any ideas? All the searches i've found just say to do what i've already done...
Wierd, mine show up just fine
Download and install ROM Toolbox and fix permissions
If that doesn't work try out the new version that was just released, seems to be a little better on mine. Hopefully you get it fixed

I must be blind, but I don't see fix permissions anywhere in rom toolbox. I've seen it in CWM and Rom Manager before though. I may try the new market if I feel froggy, but it's getting dangerously close to le zonk time for me.
I ran fix permissions from rom manager and tried the new market. No luck. I really don't wanna wipe this thing. It may have broken when I modified for wifi tethering. I can't remember when it started
Im on atrix 4g and it hasn't been working since 6pm today. Just blank screen and at 12 my market updated. On the new market when I go to my apps it says your apps will show here.

I had the same problem with my Samsung captivate. I had to use the app brain market to push all the updates. I'll go check my atrix 2, hopefully I'm not once again plagued with that bug.
Ok so i wiped everything (after backing up of course), and am trying again.
1) Works unrooted, fresh out of the box. "My Apps" shows a few apps i have paid for but not installed.
2) Market updates itself, now "My Apps" empty.
3) Double checked, installed Angry Birds, backed out and still nothing.
Thoughts? Also, last night I tried the latest Market that was posted on Androidpolice and it did the same thing. I do NOT want to use Appbrain.

looks like i'm not alone...
UPDATE: Exchanged phone at lunch today, still same thing after the new market updates.
Hmm, I've been on the Market a few times and i'm still on v3.1.5....not complaining, just an observation. I dunno man, sounds kinda funky to me.
Go to settings. Manage applications. Find market and press uninstall updates. Fixed the market problems for me

i had this problem on a certain rom on my x10. clearing cache AND data in settings > apps > market worked for me. you may need to also clear cache partition or dalvik cache as well to make it work.
try using this to clear cache, clear dalvik after clearing data and cache from market under settings. reboot. see if that helps.

just remember that you have to reboot
I cant seem to completely restore apps after flashing a new ROM. I will put in my password at first boot and I select Restore. It starts restore and then after one or 2 installation, it starts throwing errors saying there isn't enough space on the card. I know one solution is to clear the market data and then it installs fine. However, Once the app restore errors out, there is no way to start it again. So, Is there any way this is possible? I cant install any new ROMs since my apps wont install . It used to work just fine!
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
It is an issue with the size of the market cache. If you are simultaneously downloading too many large programs you are destined to get the "out of memory" error. I have had this on every Android phone I have owned and there is no way to get around it. Limit downloads to two or three at a time max and you should be okay. Yes once the market bombs out on restoring your apps, it is gone. But what I do is log into the Android Market on my web browser and you can see all the apps you have ever downloaded to any device under your account settings. You can then request the app download and install from the web. Just make sure your phone is on and connected to Google data. If it is not, Google will install the apps the next time your phone is logged into their servers.
Did you try APP MONSTER?

We’ve received reports that some users are getting “Error processing purchase” while trying to download free apps. If you’re getting “Error processing purchase” even though you’re not trying to buy anything, that is characteristic of this known issue.
We’re currently investigating a more permanent solution, but in the meantime, please try following these steps - this workaround has resolved the issues for many of our users:
Navigate to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
Navigate to the “All” section
Scroll down to find an app called Google Services Framework
Select Google Services Framework, then tap Clear cache and Clear data
