Disappearing applications - Android Apps and Games

So after turning my phone on today, I can no longer see the previous free applications that I had installed on my phone.
Is there a known reason for this or I'd something wrong?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon

This happened to me once, I opened the Market app and there were purchased apps only.
You need to have root to do this, but it's save.
First, clean the cache (Cache Cleaner NG is nice, but you can use "Manage applications" for that), then delete all files from /data/dalvik-cache/ and immediately reboot. Hopefully, problem will be solved.
Be aware that the system will be booting longer than usual - it needs to recreate all the cache. You may gain some space in your phone memory in the process.

Cool, thanks. And yea I have root so ill go and get the application now.
Ill report back when something happens.
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon

Well I coudln't get that to work but I DID find an alternative just in case anyone else has this problem.
Basically, Google only follows your paid applications, not the free ones. So when you re root and start over again and if you restore from Titanium Backup, you're technically not installing the applications from the market, hence them not showing up.
I found a program called aTrackDog, which is free, and actually checks to see if your installed apps (whether they be from the market or not) and if there is a newer version on the market, it gives you the option to download and install.
Again, the app is called aTrackDog and I'm using it now, looking good to me.

AppBrain's App Market will do the same thing when you sync it, just to throw in there.

Happens to my rooted aria all the time. No need to wipe davlik just open settings/apps then find market and clear cache, market will then rebuild links. And TBP will most definitely restore links to market despite claims to the contrary above

Thanks for posting, ill clear the market's cache right now. After I clear it is there anything else I.have to do or just wait a while?
And what is tbp?

Hmm, cleaning just the cache did nothing immediately, that's why I assumed I need to delete dalvik as well.
TBP - Titanium Backup Pro, I think

[Q] Revolution 4g on Inspire installation issues

I've been on a rooted HTC Inspire with stock rom long enough to think of trying something new. I installed Revolution 4G with no problems. It had great sound, working wifi and phone, was syncing my contacts and getting SMS and everything. Only problem is that it would not let me download and install new items from the market. They would say they were downloading and installing, but just sit there and never complete the install. So I restored my prior setup. This leaves me with still wanting to try Revolution (or some other highly recommended ROM) though. How do I get Revolution 4G running so that it allows me to install my apps?
I am running the android revolution 4G rom and have had zero issues. I say use a full wipe zip or in recovery do each wipe function twice then reflash the rom and install the recommended radio with it. I have been testing it for 3 full days now and have yet to have one single issue. Bluetooth wifi hotspot etc, end have had amazing battery life. Hope that helps.

Please post questions in general.
OK. I did the wipe of data and factory reset prior to the install and then again immediately after. Guess it is worth another shot tomorrow when I'm a bit more alert and mentally fresh.
Don't do a factory reset. Download a full wipe zip file and use that. I keep mine on my sd card so it's easier and sometimes cwm doesn't clear stuff fully.

That seemed to work. Got everything restored and set up. I'll chalk it up to newbie-over-his-head. LOL Are there any other/better ROMs that you would recommend?
Please move this to general...
Posted in wrong forum. Thread moved.
If you have issues like that you can clear the market cache(settings > applications manage apps > all select market and clear) and try logging into google talk prior to opening the market again.
Great idea! Didn't think of individual app cache like that. The re-installation worked great, but had a related thing happen last night. As far as I know, the only item on my device that didn't come from the market directly or via AppBrian or from the new Amazon app store is a copy of TubeMate that I got elsewhere after it disappeared from the market and I couldn't re-download it. I got a notification that I had updates, so I tapped it and the Market showed that it was downloading/updating every app on my phone. Hopefully, clearing out the Market app cache will fix that.

Market Apps not re-installing after flash or when new

Hello,
For some reason with my Thunderbolt the apps in the market are not being backed up and re-installing themselves. On my Droid X whenever I would flash a ROM and go into market, all the previously installed apps would be queued up and re-install themselves. So naturally when I got the TB I was expecting this to happen, which it didn’t. I went ahead and re-installed all the apps for a couple days before I had a chance to go through the somewhat lengthy process of rooting. Well, got around to rooting last night and hoping that the apps would back themselves up now thinking maybe they would only re-install on the same device I flashed a ROM with no luck. Anyone have an idea of what could preventing this from happening on this phone?
When I look on market.android.com it shows the apps installed so I can’t re-install them from the comfort of the web. Any ideas?
Thanks
I had this problem before too. What I did was go into Settings - Applications, and find "Market". I then cleared the cache and the data. I cycled power to the phone and the next time I went into the Market app it added all my previously purchased and free apps correctly. Hope this helps!

I dont think the market does an automatic backup. And the history it keeps is sketchy at best, it looses alot of apps i had installed. Appbrain would be a better option, it doesnt autoreinstall, but will let you do batch installs. Even better would be a true backup app like Titanium backup, it backs up your apps and assosiated data. But with your current setup, you can tell the market to install the app again, it will work, even if it thinks it is already installed.

[Q] Apps aren't showing in the market after flashing cm7.0.2?

Only a few of my free apps show in the market under my apps. All my paid ones are there. I have tried fixing permissions in rom manager, using the market doctor in titanium backup, and clearing the cache of the market app. None of that worked. Also, I'm not really sure if this happened because of cm7.0.2 or if I just hadn't noticed until now but either way its annoying.
What do I need to do to get them to show besides re-downloading everything one at a time?
No suggestions?

Market problems since rooting :(

Ever since i followed the root procedure here, none of my installed apps show up under Market>My Apps. It searches for a second, then comes up empty. I can install apps just fine if i search>install. I've cleared the data under Settings>Applications>Market numerous times, uninstalled updates, etc. Any ideas? All the searches i've found just say to do what i've already done...
Wierd, mine show up just fine
Download and install ROM Toolbox and fix permissions
If that doesn't work try out the new version that was just released, seems to be a little better on mine. Hopefully you get it fixed

I must be blind, but I don't see fix permissions anywhere in rom toolbox. I've seen it in CWM and Rom Manager before though. I may try the new market if I feel froggy, but it's getting dangerously close to le zonk time for me.
I ran fix permissions from rom manager and tried the new market. No luck. I really don't wanna wipe this thing. It may have broken when I modified for wifi tethering. I can't remember when it started
Im on atrix 4g and it hasn't been working since 6pm today. Just blank screen and at 12 my market updated. On the new market when I go to my apps it says your apps will show here.

I had the same problem with my Samsung captivate. I had to use the app brain market to push all the updates. I'll go check my atrix 2, hopefully I'm not once again plagued with that bug.
Ok so i wiped everything (after backing up of course), and am trying again.
1) Works unrooted, fresh out of the box. "My Apps" shows a few apps i have paid for but not installed.
2) Market updates itself, now "My Apps" empty.
3) Double checked, installed Angry Birds, backed out and still nothing.
Thoughts? Also, last night I tried the latest Market that was posted on Androidpolice and it did the same thing. I do NOT want to use Appbrain.

looks like i'm not alone...
UPDATE: Exchanged phone at lunch today, still same thing after the new market updates.
Hmm, I've been on the Market a few times and i'm still on v3.1.5....not complaining, just an observation. I dunno man, sounds kinda funky to me.
Go to settings. Manage applications. Find market and press uninstall updates. Fixed the market problems for me

i had this problem on a certain rom on my x10. clearing cache AND data in settings > apps > market worked for me. you may need to also clear cache partition or dalvik cache as well to make it work.
try using this to clear cache, clear dalvik after clearing data and cache from market under settings. reboot. see if that helps.

android market won't show my purchased installed apps

a few days ago I was using Titanium Backup to unlink my apps from the android market that I had gotten from other markets so that the market would stop trying to install updates for those apps and when I did this I looked at MY APPS in the market it is now only showing a 2 boxes. 1 reads browse apps and the other browse games. It also says apps and games owned by this account will appear here. Iv'e tried using the market Dr. on TB but it won't fix it. I also tried to force close the market and wiping the data and uninstalling any market updates. I'm hoping I don't have to reset the phone completely. I've also tried fixing the permissions and rebooting into recovery. Any help would be much appreciated. Samsung Galaxy s 4g
I had this issue once before. I fixed it by logging on to market.android.com and when I did I noticed that my apps were missing from there to. I then logged off of the website and then back on and like magic all of my apps were back. I wont garuntee this as a fix but it did work for me

im having the EXACT same problem... and i even tried a full wipe and fresh install of my rom, and all 200+ apps fresh from market to restore ANY broken market links. still no dice. im on sprints epic 4g touch, found this post on google looking for info lol
i use rom toolbox pro.. no problems here
I used Titanium Backup to uninstall something called the "Market Feedback Agent". I then wiped my cache and dalvik cache and rebooted my phone. My apps showed up in the market after I did this.

EDIT
Just download this App Market Fixer by Kstudio from Android Market.
Use it to scan for offending Apps, Note that it requires active data connection. What it basically does is compare your Apps database with the online Android Market Database and then single out the offending Apps. Presently, the only solution it offers is to uninstall the Apps from your Phone which for me is unacceptable because most of them are Samsung Core System Apps like Videos, Galllery etc, you don't wanna lose your System Apps.
When the scan finish just take note of the offending Apps, it would help to write them down. Do not use their Fix tool because it will delete the Apps from your Phone or if you use REMOVE MARKET LINKS ONLY those Apps will give you FORCE CLOSE afterwards. The best option is go to Titanium Backup --> Batch --> Detach User & System Apps from Market --> Deselect all --> NOW SELECT ONLY THE OFFENDING APPS --> Run the Batch Operation --> Reboot.
After this go back to Android Market and all your Apps will be there. If It didn't work the first time, redo the whole process, maybe you missed one App.
This has 99.9% success and I believe it will work for you.
ADDITION
For those of us that Schedule Backups with TB, you have to do some tweaks to your Preferences if not; after such backups, the whole problem will come back again. This is all you have to do:
Go to Preferences --> Deselect MARKET LINK (When backing up an app, save its Market Link. Requires SQlite).
Be aware that this might happen again if you upgrade ROM or restore whole system with TB Backup, but with such Tool at hand, all it takes is less 3 minutes to fix.
Hope this is helpful
Thank you! I'll not sure exactly what I did that fixed it, but somewhere between using Market Fixer and uninstall/re-installing some apps it working again.
Note to self: stop playing with Market Doctor in TB for no good reason.
Hi
Excuse me for being somehow off topic, I'd want the opposite.
I have a few apps (Youtube & windows theme for Go launcher for example) that I hate their updates and I'd like them to not appear on market update list.
If someond knows how to do this, please PM or send a link.
I searched and couldn't find anything. 10x.

In Titanium Backup - Market Doctor will break market links.
