I've been on a rooted HTC Inspire with stock rom long enough to think of trying something new. I installed Revolution 4G with no problems. It had great sound, working wifi and phone, was syncing my contacts and getting SMS and everything. Only problem is that it would not let me download and install new items from the market. They would say they were downloading and installing, but just sit there and never complete the install. So I restored my prior setup. This leaves me with still wanting to try Revolution (or some other highly recommended ROM) though. How do I get Revolution 4G running so that it allows me to install my apps?
I am running the android revolution 4G rom and have had zero issues. I say use a full wipe zip or in recovery do each wipe function twice then reflash the rom and install the recommended radio with it. I have been testing it for 3 full days now and have yet to have one single issue. Bluetooth wifi hotspot etc, end have had amazing battery life. Hope that helps.

Please post questions in general.
OK. I did the wipe of data and factory reset prior to the install and then again immediately after. Guess it is worth another shot tomorrow when I'm a bit more alert and mentally fresh.
Don't do a factory reset. Download a full wipe zip file and use that. I keep mine on my sd card so it's easier and sometimes cwm doesn't clear stuff fully.

That seemed to work. Got everything restored and set up. I'll chalk it up to newbie-over-his-head. LOL Are there any other/better ROMs that you would recommend?
Please move this to general...

If you have issues like that you can clear the market cache(settings > applications manage apps > all select market and clear) and try logging into google talk prior to opening the market again.
Great idea! Didn't think of individual app cache like that. The re-installation worked great, but had a related thing happen last night. As far as I know, the only item on my device that didn't come from the market directly or via AppBrian or from the new Amazon app store is a copy of TubeMate that I got elsewhere after it disappeared from the market and I couldn't re-download it. I got a notification that I had updates, so I tapped it and the Market showed that it was downloading/updating every app on my phone. Hopefully, clearing out the Market app cache will fix that.

Hi.
Major issues with Market. Nothing downloading. Just the bar and starting download message.
Tried force stop, cache cleaning, reboots. No joy.
Ideas?
After new FB and Twitter apps.

Same problem with galaxy s, instaling app for 3 days now . can't stopit.
i've had this issue quite a bit on my incredible. usually cures itself by switching from wifi to 3g or the other way around. whichever you're on right now, try the other one.
Done that Mike. No change.

Go to applications market and uninstall updates.
Works fine here....
No updates to uninstall for the Market. Came as is.
I switched from Dinc to Droid X recently and encountered this problem pretty much out of the box. I believe I ended up clearing cache or data from the Gmail application and then Market downloads started to work correctly.
I just went to update an app that i have and Market Force Closed.
still downloaded ok though
I have a funny feeling this was an all around Android Market issue for many people... I had it too but now it seems to have cleared up...
You could try Titanium backup and the clear data option after tapping the market app.
It worked for me
my fix for this exact same problem (as described in the OP's first post) was to factory reset my phone (galaxy s) and log in using the @googlemail.com extension to my google email address instead of the usual @gmail.com
if that makes sense.. search google for a few other threads floating around with people who solved their market download "stalling" with this fix..
might be worth a try for you anyway.
So after turning my phone on today, I can no longer see the previous free applications that I had installed on my phone.
Is there a known reason for this or I'd something wrong?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
This happened to me once, I opened the Market app and there were purchased apps only.
You need to have root to do this, but it's save.
First, clean the cache (Cache Cleaner NG is nice, but you can use "Manage applications" for that), then delete all files from /data/dalvik-cache/ and immediately reboot. Hopefully, problem will be solved.
Be aware that the system will be booting longer than usual - it needs to recreate all the cache. You may gain some space in your phone memory in the process.
Cool, thanks. And yea I have root so ill go and get the application now.
Ill report back when something happens.
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
Well I coudln't get that to work but I DID find an alternative just in case anyone else has this problem.
Basically, Google only follows your paid applications, not the free ones. So when you re root and start over again and if you restore from Titanium Backup, you're technically not installing the applications from the market, hence them not showing up.
I found a program called aTrackDog, which is free, and actually checks to see if your installed apps (whether they be from the market or not) and if there is a newer version on the market, it gives you the option to download and install.
Again, the app is called aTrackDog and I'm using it now, looking good to me.
AppBrain's App Market will do the same thing when you sync it, just to throw in there.
Happens to my rooted aria all the time. No need to wipe davlik just open settings/apps then find market and clear cache, market will then rebuild links. And TBP will most definitely restore links to market despite claims to the contrary above

Thanks for posting, ill clear the market's cache right now. After I clear it is there anything else I.have to do or just wait a while?
And what is tbp?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
Hmm, cleaning just the cache did nothing immediately, that's why I assumed I need to delete dalvik as well.
TBP - Titanium Backup Pro, I think
Ever since i followed the root procedure here, none of my installed apps show up under Market>My Apps. It searches for a second, then comes up empty. I can install apps just fine if i search>install. I've cleared the data under Settings>Applications>Market numerous times, uninstalled updates, etc. Any ideas? All the searches i've found just say to do what i've already done...
Wierd, mine show up just fine
Download and install ROM Toolbox and fix permissions
If that doesn't work try out the new version that was just released, seems to be a little better on mine. Hopefully you get it fixed

I must be blind, but I don't see fix permissions anywhere in rom toolbox. I've seen it in CWM and Rom Manager before though. I may try the new market if I feel froggy, but it's getting dangerously close to le zonk time for me.
I ran fix permissions from rom manager and tried the new market. No luck. I really don't wanna wipe this thing. It may have broken when I modified for wifi tethering. I can't remember when it started
Im on atrix 4g and it hasn't been working since 6pm today. Just blank screen and at 12 my market updated. On the new market when I go to my apps it says your apps will show here.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I had the same problem with my Samsung captivate. I had to use the app brain market to push all the updates. I'll go check my atrix 2, hopefully I'm not once again plagued with that bug.
Ok so i wiped everything (after backing up of course), and am trying again.
1) Works unrooted, fresh out of the box. "My Apps" shows a few apps i have paid for but not installed.
2) Market updates itself, now "My Apps" empty.
3) Double checked, installed Angry Birds, backed out and still nothing.
Thoughts? Also, last night I tried the latest Market that was posted on Androidpolice and it did the same thing. I do NOT want to use Appbrain.

UPDATE: Exchanged phone at lunch today, still same thing after the new market updates.
Hmm, I've been on the Market a few times and i'm still on v3.1.5....not complaining, just an observation. I dunno man, sounds kinda funky to me.
Go to settings. Manage applications. Find market and press uninstall updates. Fixed the market problems for me

i had this problem on a certain rom on my x10. clearing cache AND data in settings > apps > market worked for me. you may need to also clear cache partition or dalvik cache as well to make it work.
try using this to clear cache, clear dalvik after clearing data and cache from market under settings. reboot. see if that helps.

just remember that you have to reboot
I recently flashed the new Virtuous Quattro ICS ROM from the Desire HD thread and it works great except for the obvious camera issues (Had to flash a couple files for the audio and tinny sound fix) . My question is why are my apps not automatically showing up in the market when I select My Apps. It actually shows about 12 which makes it even more odd. I thought at first it might be because the apps aren't compatible with ICS, but i can manually search them and download them. I've had this happen once before when flashing a Coredroid ROM. Is there an easy answer to why this happens and possibly an even easier solution to fix it?
Try clearing market data then rebooting a few times or if you use TiBu(paid), use the market doctor feature then reboot a few times.
Apparently there is a new market with the ICS build as there is no option for clearing the cache or data. It should be under settings in the market correct?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
No, go to menu-settings-applications-all tab and select market, clear from there.
This also presupposes that ICS is setup this was. I haven't used it but this is how it's done in GB.
Saved and Texan by the grace of God, Redneck by choice.
Also remember that the market only keeps track of paid apps. It doesn't store free apps.
Hey InfUsers,
I flashed CM9 onto my Infuse formerly coming from ZEUS and find that it runs perfectly! I'm entirely pleased with the performance of the ROM and sincerely thank all involved in making it a reality.
However, I have no way of restoring my backed up apps and data as there is no Play Store preloaded with this wonderful ROM. Usually, I download Titanium Backup through the Play Store and restore everything through there. How can I get the Play Store back?
On the device, I tried using the web browser (I searched "download Titanium Backup" using the Google bar) to download through the Play Store without necessarily having Google Play installed on the device...to no avail. I was given a series of prompts for account login info and compatibility with my device, all of which were handled smoothly, and I finally selected the blue "download" button and received a final prompt that said "the app will be installed on your device in moments" or something to that effect. That screen never changed after I gave it time to process and install. I backed out from that window once I realized the install wouldn't work (though I have no idea why) and went back to the Titanium Backup selection from my Web Browser's Google Search. I clicked the same result again and this time, the button was no longer blue, but green, and indicated that I already had the app installed. I went through this entire process several times after verifying that the app was not on the device (by manually navigating the few preloaded apps, checking the "apps" menu in settings, and searching for it in the Google Bar) again, with no luck.
So, how can I get the Play Store back? Or how can I get Titanium Backup without it?
I'm sorry for starting a new thread if I wasn't supposed to. I really don't know, the old one may be dead as it has thousands of posts throughout hundreds of pages and this particular topic seemed hardly related to the replies. Just really quite stumped on this one! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
did you flash gapps as the instructions said?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Be careful with titanium backup...you are no longer on gingerbread so your backups (data) are more than likely no longer compatible
But yeah as long as you flash the gapps you should have playstore...
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
I'm not sure. I'll try to but I'm having a lot of trouble navigating clockwork because of the rainbows, multiple highlighted bands, and the bottom half of the screen not displaying.
There were a lot of different links to downloads in the original CM9 thread, I put 3 of them on my SD card in total after spending a lot of time trying (and probably failing) to decide which ones to go with. 1 of them was definitely Gapps, another was one of the versions of the ROM and the third was, I believe, the updated kernel. In any case, I'll try reflashing again and report back here if I run into any trouble.
Thanks a lot for the response! I'm beyond frustrated with the various problems evident in this process. But I am up for the challenge
If you're wondering why I have the signature below right now that indicates I'm posting from my device, it's because I did install Titanium backup lite from another link in the original search and restored what I could for now. Contacts didn't transfer over (despite the backing to the SIM, SD card, and Titanium) and I'm getting Force Close messages for most Apps.
In any case I'm going to wipe and reflash everything though because of all of the many problems.
I'll gladly appreciate any further assistance As you can tell, I'm really bad at this :-/

Just realized, I'm crazy confused from successfully flashing CM9 to attempting to flash this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643886) and the "lot of links" I mentioned were probably for this other ROM I just posted the link to. I'm so sorry if I'm confusing you, I confused myself. I'm going to start from the very beginning if I can find just exactly where that is

You're absolutely right. Much of Titanium's backups weren't compatible. I had similar problems when I went from the Stock ROM in December to MIUI to ZEUS all in the same week. Thank you
How horrible at this am I? I tried to flash the other ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643886) once I realized that there was no Play Store. I panicked lol.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Play Store is packaged separately in gapps (Google Apps). As has been posted, if you go back to the part in the instructions for your rom for flashing gapps, you'll have Play Store. No need to flash the rom again.

Flashed gapps and just as you all said, the Google Apps are back.
Henceforth, I turn my back on Titanium as most of what I wanted to restore is no longer compatible. Web, Messaging, Email, and other stock processes had FCs after I restored everything. Now it appears I have no way to get my data back.
I noticed something, though. When I restored everything in Titanium, some of the toggles in my notification bar reappeared that had been in ZEUS. Prior to the restore, Data, Auto rotate, and a few others weren't there. I guess Titanium somehow put them on?
Last question and I'll do my best to leave you guys alone (thanks so much, by the way), I had backed up contacts to SIM AND my SD card in addition to Titanium. Any way to retrieve from either?
Contacts>Menu Button>Import/Export>Import from SIM Card
^Told me that there were no contacts on my SIM.
How is that possible when I know I backed them up?
And is there any way to navigate my SD card?
Settings>Apps>On SD Card
^Shows me that there isn't anything on the card at all.
Yet when I USB connect to the computer and browse the folders, all my old stuff appears. What's going on?!?!?!
All I really care about getting back is contacts. I tried (and failed) backing up to Google multiple times before doing the SIM backup and Titanium (SD) backup. But if there was a way to restore the toggles in the Notification bar (without risking the FCs again), I'd be very interested.
I thank you all so much and I'm sorry for over complicating everything.
