[Q] Problem with Trackpad on Keyboard Dock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody encounter any freezing on the keyboard dock for their Transformer? I just got my keyboard dock today, and every time I hook up the tablet to the keyboard dock, the mouse pad works for some time and then completely freezes. I can confirm that the tablet is properly connected, because I can hear the firm 'click' of the button, and it goes from being in the unlocked to locked position. Do you think it might be an issue with charging? Does the dock need to be charged fully? Or can the dock function on the tablet's battery? Or is it just a plain ol' bug that needs to be ironed out by Asus?
Any help/advice would be appreciated!

My software is indeed up-to-date as of yesterday, to the latest 8.2.3.9 firmware. Considering that others are also having this same issue here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063853), it looks like a software bug to me, and a really annoying one at that. It essentially renders the keyboard useless after a minute or so.
Asus, please help!

How would I disable the trackpad? I don't remember seeing a setting for that in the settings menu. Much appreciated!

There are many issues with the keyboard, check out this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063853

The trackpad disable key is the 4th button from the left on the top row of the keyboard. It looks like a little trackpad with a diagonal line through it.

The dock freezes even after disabling the trackpad, which makes me think that its not an issue with the trackpad, but the dock itself. Nothing a firmware update cannot fix I hope, and soon. Come on Asus!

@sam: for the third time, check out this topic, it is all about the dock issues: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063853

I know, I have already checked out your thread on this topic. I am merely replying as a means to follow up on my post rather than abandon it.

[Q] Tablet screen staying on when the netbook is "closed"

I distinctly remembering when i first got my dock that when i closed the tablet down tot eh keyboard, the screen automatically shut off. For some reason now, with Netformer and Prime 1.5, it no longer does. Anyone know of a fix? I cant even turn it off with the power button if its closed up.
I was having this problem when I had automatic brightness on. I'm on the same rom and kernel.

Turn the touchpad off using the shortcut on the keyboard. Will keep the screen from coming back on when device is closed.
which shortcut is that?

Ist on the physical keyboard where F3 would be on a PC. Between the Bluetooth and Screen Dim keys. I had the same problem and turning it off fixes it.

Yep, that's the one I was referring to. Turning off the touchpad will solve the problem of the screen coming back on. At least until Asus completely fixes the issue with a firmware update. And hopefully that update includes a fix for the overall battery drain on the dock that many people, including myself, are reporting to have.
Mine stayed on a couple of time but it was a specific app keeping it awake .... cant for the life of me recall which app though

keyboard dock issues, are they still around?

Hi guys,
I read about the keyboard isssues the transformer had. Like battery issues, trackpad issues, etc. For some of these issues it has to be send to Asus.
Recently I got one from a mate in the US, and I'm in China, so assume I cannot be helped in China (seriously, its next to impossible to get after market help in China).
So, are there firmware updates that resolve these issues before they become apparent, or do I really need to send it to asus for modification? Or have Asus addressed some of these issues already in the docks? If so, from what S/N onwards is this the case?
the one real issue is the dock prevents the tablet from going into deep sleep. so if you don't have battery issues with the dock, you don't need to modification. this "fix" however requires that you send the dock to asus.
i don't know what other issues you're talking about (you might want to be more specific)...but the only other consistent complaint with the keyboard is the lag when using in stock browser. this is a software issue, and not one with the dock.

ok, thx. So deep sleep, is this doen automatically? is that the problem, or is it also present when I short-click the power button to switch off the display?
For teh other issues, yes, i think it was related to lag, an inresponsiveness. but if this is in-browser, an dnot a dock issue, then I'm not concerned.
i'm a bit confused what your question is.
if you're asking about how deep sleep works, then yes, the idea behind it is your TF will automatically go into it after a period of non-interaction, or if you press the power button.
unless of course you have an older dock...which prevents that from happening.
if you're asking if the fix is done automatically, no. you have to send the dock to asus because the fix is a hardware installation.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
ok, that answers my question. I always use the power button to switch teh screen off.
I have a problem with my dock : after putting the tablet into sleep with the power button while docked, I close the netbook. As soon as it is closed the screen lightens on (so it's no more sleeping and will undoubtly suck up on battery).
I think I already read a post about someone having the same problem, but I can't find it.

you probably disabled the trackpad on the keyboard. Look for the button on the dock that enables it again.
On the keyboard: Top row, 4th button from the left. Has an image of the touchpad with a / through it printed on it. Hit that.
Yeah I disable it when I'm typing on the dock for an extended period of time. Helps to not have my wrist causing the cursor to jump around in a document as there isn't any wrist detection of the touchpad to ignore it.
Lol well that's a relief I didn't even know there was a button to disable it ago I feel dumb but thanks guys

Touchscreen unresponsive when dock is connected

After updating OTA the other day (I've always been on stock firmware), my tablet seemed to be working fine. However, once I connect the dock sections of my touchscreen become unresponsive. I can still scroll and click with the touchpad on my dock and parts of the touchscreen still work. This only started happening after the update - without the dock my touchscreen works perfectly (unless I connect the dock first, in which case I need to restart my tablet before the screen works again).
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the update or if anyone else has experienced the same problems. Hopefully someone will know what's up.
Any help is appreciated!
Edit: Was playing around a bit and realized I could "fix" it by locking/unlocking the tablet with the dock connected...so I suppose it's not a hardware issue but rather a problem with the new update.

After the 4.2 update, my tablet has also become totally incapable of working with the dock connected.
Everything stops working as soon as I connect it; Seems even worse than what you're experiencing.
I hope Asus knows this, because I am sure it has to do with their update, not my tablet
Mmmmhh... So far for quality control? I really do feel f r you guys, asn many of you will not have been able to unlock, and therefore cannot go the custom route. (Especially sad for you, adelancker, since your tablet was unlocked originally!)
You tried a complete system reformat. Restore to Factory?

with the dock connected? You can't
Without the dock connected, yes, and got no results
Hahaha, Asus really messed up good.
@MartyHulskemper I have been able to unlock after a lot of whining!
But still, the problem originated from before the unlocking itself...
But you might have given me an idea!!!!
I can try and:
1) make a nandroid
2) go back to 4.1 Cromi
3) connect the dock: see if that works
and then try to
4) flash 4.2 Cromi-X on it with the dock connected.
Maybe that'd help?

Did you apply the update with the dock detached?
Have you tried rebooting with the dock attached? If that does not solve it, I would reflash the last update with the tablet docked.

The update was applied without the dock. I tried a factory reset to no avail - although, cold-booting a few times seemed to make the problem less frequent. Restarting with the dock connected had no effect.
Strangely enough, I noticed the system bar lock was enabled by default (it was disabled before the update), once I disabled it again I noticed an immediate difference in the performance of my tablet. Much less frequent lag/unresponsiveness with the dock connected - No idea why this would make a difference though

I can say that I did that update to 4.2 without dock, I am afraid.
I have tried rebooting, but it just won't boot as long as the dock's connected...
I have the same thing* . Tried many things hard reset, cold boot, downgrade..but unfortunately nothing helps :/
Now I want to drain completely battery-especially in mobile dock
*The same thing means tablet is unresponsive when dock connected(I can't: boot with it, lock scren, neither make factory reset)
Fortunetly I still have warranty, but can't give it now, because I need it for holidays. So did you find something that could help me?
Temporary solution is downgrade to 4.1(10.4.2.20), then it doesn't lag and I can use USB port so I can have keyboard and mouse, but this isn't mobile solution.. (sometimes it also charges from dock-I think when tablet battery is below 90% , but when dock is connected to charger, then it charges whole time)
I don't remember if I made update with or without dock connected.

TF101 Keyboard Problem: Keyboard Keys Not Working

My TF101 is running KatKiss 4.4.4_035. When I plug in the dock (physical keyboard) only the mouse keys and mouse pad work, none of the keys on the keyboard do anything. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the entire keyboard working?
Never mind. I spent more time trying to figure this out, and discovered that it is a hardware issue. The dock keyboard works only when the screen is tilted in the dock at certain angles. Unfortunately for me, those angles are when the screen is more closed than open.

Sounds like a connection issue between tablet and dock, might be worth checking inside each sides port/socket for any obvious problem
Might be something simple that can just be pushed back together
My keyboard has a similar problem. Altought in my case only some keys don't respond correctly. I think this might be a kernel problem.
