in the browser i reduce the font and it fits. homescreen i dunno. was looking for options but didnt find anything. try some setting like format on your tv. mine is set to auto it often changes to make the picture better.
My HDMI cable just came in today...and worked fine for me. I see the full status bar and the cable plugged in the phone's port smoothly. Works as advertised.
I didn't have to push hard or anything like in some earlier posts I read.

What type of TV are you using? CRT, DLP, LCD, Plasma? Sounds like an overscan issue.
Happens both to my 32" lcd samsung and my 67" dlp samsung!

I plugged the tablet into a Samsung LCD TV and it doesn't seem very clear.. sort of grainy ..lost quality.. am I missing a setting somewhere? It looks OK don't get me wrong but an HDMI connection I expected to be a lot crisper.

I believe this too. i have a 1080p tv and it outputs to 720p which is fine but it is a bit grainy and the screen blinks alot when trying the youtube app as well.
surely it depends on what you are trying to view ....
Its anything I view. Its just lossy. Even idle at the main screen. I just thought it would be crisper. Its not terrible or anything.

you sure its not mirroring the TF's resolution?
Do you have to resize the output on the samsung ? All my samsung TVs look way better through VGA than HDMI with computers. FYI I dont own a EEE im just a TV geek.
Also make sure you plug it in the DVI labelled port on the Samsung.
if its a samsung set the screen size to just scan ........ that any better?
The issue at present I believe is that the HDMI out at present is showing at the same resolution as the screen even if it is a 1080p file. This will alledgedly be sorted in a future update.
What does hdmi out do on the transformer, is it full desktop mirroring or only used by some apps?
currently it will always output 720p, asus has stated it will be fixed in a future update.

Its full mirroring, so what ever you do on the tablet is mirrored on the TV.
I went to use HDMI output for the first time on the transformer today. I plugged it in, received the notification icon that HDMI was connected and the audio on the TF muted (redirected to the HMDI port), but I see no video or sound on the TV.
I know the cable is ok because it worked with my archos tablet.
The cable is pluggged in all the way and I've tested on two ports.
Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem! Do I really have to root and apply a custom rom to get this feature?
i tried today to hook up my hdmi with 1/2 success. I get picture but no sound...
HDMI was fixed for me in one of the past ASUS updates - maybe with Honeycomb 3.2...
My biggest annoyance, however, is the fact that the bottom bar gets cutoff on my TV, so I can't access the back, home, multitask and menu buttons when using my bluetooth keyboard/mouse... kind of a pain.

What you need is custom kernel, not custom rom. The problem is compatibility issue with certain name brand tv's. I highly recommend clemsyn kernel. It's compatible with most tv's out there.

He's right. I had the same problem with hdmi out and solved it with clemsyns kernel.
But then came another problem, video subtitles doesn't show on the tv u.u
I just flashed Clemsyn's latest, Version 22A. Still nothing on my 32" Vizio, and I get glitchy static and half functionality on my Insignia 32" *Best Buy Brand*. And what does work, I don't have the bar on the bottom either Anyone have expirence with Vizio? I duno if it's the TV but from what I have seen Vizio doesn't play nice with any PC type inputs
My HDMI port only wirk s when it has pressure downwards. Anybody else had this?
Not sure if it is the transformer or a bad cable
Thanks
It would surprise all the other documented issues.
Also, keep in mind that not all tv's will support the transformers HDMI output.
It does work, it is just that the physical connection is really bad and unreliable

Is anyone keeping a list of tv models people have been successful with?
I've got a samsung LN40B750 from 2009 and hdmi out works fine from iPad but not with my transformer. I bought a $3 mini-hdmi to hdmi adaptor from eBay so don't know if that's the problem or not. Transformer detects the hdmi out is connected and displays logo in the bar at the bottom but I get 'no signal detected' on tv screen.
Can someone remind me does it do mirroring or only support various apps (eg YouTube)?
it didn't even detect that my Panasonic 32" was connected.

Turned out I had a bad cable. ordered a cheaper one and then it worked...
My TV is a Sony Bravia and it connects fine
Hi there,
My tablet wouldn't turned on, but now, It is turning on but the screen is not working. The tablet itself is working, sounds, wifi, even Touch screen.
But the screen, is just a gray screen with a minimum brightness.
Anything guys?
Looks like a dead digitizer to me..... I had to return a 5 day old TF701 and it looked just like your picture there. If you can return and exchange it with your seller, do that. If that is no option and you still have warranty fill out an RMA at Asus and send it in.
You should get all your files off the tablet and Factory Reset it before you do so. MTP should still be working, so you can use your PC to copy everything over.
Another option is to use Asus Backup to back up your stuff and restore it to the new or repaired tablet. You would have to connect the tablet via HDMI cable to a TV for anything you do on the tablet and believe me: It's a PIA to hunt and peck for just the right spot to touch on the tablet's screen while looking at the TV.... But with some persistence a high tolerance for frustration it can be done.
Thank You Berndblb
I backed up all the files, and the warranty is finished. The service here told me they don't have extra motherboard in their warehouse.
I don't know what to do. I can't let this alone.
You don't need a motherboard - just a digitizer.
You could try to find one on ebay from someone selling TF700 parts.
You find tear down instructions and videos on ifixit.com. Also search YouTube for instruction videos. Check them out and decide if you think you can do it yourself. Or you have to find someone to do it for you.
Asus will do it, but that is going to cost a pretty penny.....

The digitizer is the touch screen. If there is no picture, something else is broken.
Thanks guys, I can do it, I can open the tablet and do the stuff.
I don't know digitizer, and as I said, the touch screen is working and fully responsive. The only thing is the screen which shows nothing but a high brightness page.
It might just be that one of the ribbon cable connections has come loose.

No, I checked the ribbons myself. They are all correct.
If you need to see the tablet's desktop you can connect it to an HDMI input on a TV. This might also indicate if it is a motherboard or GPU or other problem if the TV won't display the video signal.

Thanks!
If the TV won't display the output, so the problem is not the motherboard right?

Your statement confuses me....might be a translation?
If the TF700 is connected to the TV with a proper HDMI cable and you do not see anything (make sure the TV has the correct HDMI input selected with your remote) then I would say there are "other" video related problems.
Did you connect HDMI? Did the video show on the TV screen?

Well, I got it,
Not yet, I should find the cable and the TV.
Thanks
UPDATE
Guys,
When I connect the Tablet to TV via HDMI, it shows on the TV.
So the problem is the Digitizer? What should I do?

Check if the ribbon cable to the screen has come loose? (If you haven't done so already). Will require you to pop the back off carefully. See you tube vids for TF700 tear down.
Thank you so much, but I done that before, they are fine. Anything else?

(1) The lcd (display) is bad. (2) If you can still see the display (icons and stuff) in a dark room with a flashlight shining on it, the backlight is bad. In the former scenario, the lcd is around 80 USD on Ebay; in the latter, you might be lucky to find a cracked lcd display for cheap. Buy it and disassemble the thing. Salvage the backlight strip and the back frame and pop your lcd into it. Should work. Just be very careful with taking it apart. Find some detailed instructions on how to do it, like HERE. I've done it with the TF300T, busted cables on 2 of them. Cost some bucks, needless to say, but worthwhile nevertheless.
I bought a HDMI-micro cable and i pluged it in , but after that, tab s was lag like hell but video worked just fine.. so what now

It's a 5-pin or a 10-ping mhl cable? it has to be 10-pin for the tab s, and later phone models like Galaxy s3/4/5, Galaxy notes etc...
I ordered one last week and it's working fine, but the output is not 1080p... well it is per se, but the contents are not stretched to fill the whole 16:9 frame.
To display apps, photos, etc it might be OK, but when playing back videos which are 16:9 (like 720/1080p) it's annoying not being able to watch [email protected] frame. I only messed around 10/15 minutes, so I hope it can be forced/fixed somehow. Anyone?
I am using a ptv3000 wifi hdmi adapter, had same problem.
Used screen resolution changer (linking restriction... ) 'com.nomone.resolution_changer'
I set the res to 1750w x 3100h x 320 dpi
It messes up the notification pull down a bit but it did work just harder.
Use BS Player to fix the audio offset but think that is just a problem with the WiFi hdmi screen sharing.
