Is it just me or does the transformer have serious lag when playing high quality YouTube videos full screen? Just got my tablet yesterday and that is really my only complaint so far.
Thanks
yes but not only full screen. I'm getting lag in the smaller window as well
I noticed that there was an update to flash 10.2 yesterday. In the change log it said that hardware acceleration had been added, but requires an upcoming release of Android 3. Hopefully that will cure it.

Same here. I hope they get the video bugs worked out soon. i'm getting annoyed that i cannot watch any HD video in fullscreen.

Same here. Annoying and kind of embarrassing to show it to my friend that has an ipad 2. I hope the HD video will improve as wel.
Edit:
I'm not tying to compete which device is better. I just want to have a device where I can enjoy it.
Does anybody noticed that if you leave the screen untouched for several seconds, when you touch the screen again it won't respond the first touch?
I thought I was the only one, but apparently there are more people with this problem. I have it too in both the smaller and fullscreen window. If you don't touch the device a few seconds it gets better, but there is still at some points a noticeable lag. Very annoying!

Wow just booted youtube and got the same issue. This is not a good look on the mighty transformer.
Is this using Youtube.com or the Youtube app?

Youtube.com is using the flash player, and this will be a bit stuttery - especially for HD videos. But the App should be using h264 encoded video so playback should be 'native'.
I have had some videos be a bit choppy via the app, but most play fine.
the youtube website works fine for me when viewing up to 420p, anything over that is stuttery.
I'm sure Google will announce an update to HoneyComb in the next week during Google IO

I checked the same video on youtube.com and the youtube app. Youtube app displays the video perfectly well in SD, but in HD it gets a slight lag. On youtube.com it plays well on 480p but above that it gets unwatchable.
I get just a slight stutter in the first 5 sec then smooth HD playback for me on youtube. The "HD" is lit up.

i know what you are talking about.
although its not that it wont recognize the first touch, you just have to touch it .5 ms longer and it will respond. I think its either a power saving mechanism or prevent you from accidental touch on the screen.
It bothered me at first but trust me, after about a week you wont either notice it anymore, you simply get used to it.
could you guys check this video out and see if it lag too.

Stutters on full screen, but not smaller. Used Youtube app from main screen. TF 101 32 GB. Full update.

so which is it, hardware or software that is causing it? I'm tempted to go I pad just cause their ui and multimedia is so fluid. I like androids customizability so another alternative is to see how tegra 3 tablets will perform.
No stutter for me opened in YouTube app and browser HQ button illuminated, using Uk tranny with update.
Just got my tablet, and must say I totally dig it. I do have a few questions maybe you guys could help me out with.
I have a desktop next to my entertainment stand in my living room. It's hooked into my surround sound and big screen. When I have a bunch of people over, I like to have Google Music running and play it through the surround sound. So, I wanted to be able to control my desktop through my tablet. We sometimes go outside to smoke or grill, etc, and I'd like to take my tablet outside to control my desktop. Now, I have gmote installed already, and it's great. You can use your tablet as a touchpad, or a keyboard, and can browse through your music/movies with ease. BUT....I want to be able to see my desktop screen through my tablet since I use google music more. Can anyone suggest any free programs that I can use? I've read about VMware, and this might achieve this, but not sure. Haven't been at home recently to test this out. All I want is to be able to see my desktop screen through my tablet and be able to change google music songs.
Thanks for any input!
Hi,
I'm using TeamViewer, available for free on the market.
It works fine.
why don't you use splashtop included in your transformer ? work very well..
I have to agree with the above poster, I use SplashTop HD on my tablet for all remote desktop-ing needs and it works beautifully. Instant streaming speeds from your desktop to your tablet (obviously reliant upon the strength of your wifi connection). You'll be able to stream both video and audio to the tablet with it without lag, enabling you to even watch movies via remote desktop on your tablet. If it's not on your Transformer already, you should definitely look into it
TeamViewer can remote your Desktop from WAN...
It's the reason why I choose it...

SplashTop HD can connect from WAN as well, I use it to view my PC at home while I'm at work.
Good to know.
In fact, I've don't tried SplashTop HD...
Why do it simply ...
Not trying to hijack and staying on topic with these apps, can you use the above mentioned to move files around? The wife wants to be able to organise our photo albums from the transformer.
Thanks.

I appreciate all the replies guys. I don't have splashtop on my pad, but I see it on the market, and it's 9.99. Should it have come stock on the pad? I am running the stock rom, since I can't root yet.
another question. Seems most of the programs you suggest will stream from my desktop to my transformer. I still want it to play from the desktop through my surround sound as well. Will it do this? I'm at work, so I can't test anything until I get home. ...not like I'm doing any work here anyway. lol.
Just installed teamviewer on my work computer, and must say wow. It's working flawlessly. This is exactly what I'm looking for, and free! Thanks!

SplashTop HD should allow the sound to play through both sources, the tablet and your surround sound (as long as it's turned on, of course). It will not hijack the audio.

Move files around within the computer only? Yes, you can do that easily. Moving files around between the PC and tablet via remote desktop is another issue

The Asus comes with a preinstalled SplashTop standard version. You can buy the HD version on the market. It's even better. The standard version can be choppy sometimes with less quality. It enables me to watch Live-TV on my tablet from my mediacenter pc running MediaPortal. if you use the same MC, you can try aMPdroid: it remote controls and streams MediaPortal functionality but it's not an RDP app.
If you guys haven't checked out mobo player you should. They just added that window effect that the GS3 has. Its amazing on our tablet. Here is a screenshot of me playing final fantasy 3 while watching the first episode of The Big Bang Theory which I ripped from my bluray streaming from my pc via file manager hd. It really shows the true speed and power of this tablet.

I'd love to like this player, but it has trouble playing back any .mkv and .avi files I've tried on it. One video played back right, Vertigo, but that movie is over 50 years old and isn't going to showcase the amazing power of this tablet lol.
Yea, i agree its not the best video player out there and i like BS player a whole lot better but the window thingy is pretty cool. Hopefully with time the player end of the app will get better.

Even better yet, just use whatever video player you want and then use "Stick It!" - a windowed video player! It allows you to resize and move the window and it would work with ANY other app! The guy that writes it also has 3 or 4 other windowed apps for Android - check them out on the Play store - they are really cool...

Why pay 1.79 for "stick it" when you can have "Super Video, Floating, and Pop-Up" update for FREE. It does the same exact thing. Plus it had an Update 7 days ago. STICK IT hasn't had one since May.

A few reasons:
1. I purchased it way before "Super Video" was available.
2. It's a *much* better app - it simply works better!
Have you actually tried Stick-it? Just because an app is updated more recently does not make it better!

Stick-it is a stand-alone app (a windowed video player). The author of it makes 3 or 4 other windows apps as well (a browser, video player, calculator and a terminal emulator).

I have splashtop remote desktop HD on mine. Its great for controlling your computer at home when you are away from home. However, I tried watching a netflix movie through the program and the video stuttered quite a bit. So maybe the Splashtop THD would have been better for something like that. I don't game, so I figured I wouldn't need it.
Splashtop THD requires you have a (beefy) NVIDIA card to view games fullshreen. But it works good for me. Torchlight works wonders, GW2 wouldn't let me walk forward and instead made me do a forward roll, everything else worked. HL2 also works wonderful.
I would go HD unless you want fullscreen gaming.

You already own Splashtop HD if you have a tf700, it's located in Asus MyCloud. Splashtop 2 follows my cursor around, making mouseovers easier, while the Asus packed version only moves the PC mouse when I click somewhere.
Why aren't people posting this stuff in the Tf700 apps section? Not to pick on the OP specifically, because it's getting more common for everyone. It's just not as though no one reads and responds there. Plenty of activity and no reason to clutter up general with something that has a clear cut subforum.
I like to use Splashtop 2 (from the play store) for local networks - I enjoy the interface more. But the splashtop version included in ASUS mycloud for use away from my home network.
My understanding is ST2 requires a monthly subscription to use remotely (not on the same network) whereas one that came with our TF700's is free. The ST2 is a much better for gaming, but for general remote desktop then the one with my cloud is sufficient.

No, but I plan to when I get home from work, I'll report back with my findings.
I tried XBMC just now, and it couldn't play a 1080p mkv on my local network very well, I'm guessing it wasn't using hardware decoding. I was just using the regular Android apk provided on the xbmc website.
