At this point I've tried every method of flashing, and every version of cwmr. No matter what version or method I use, after about a week, I lose the ability to flash any roms that I havnt already flashed. I also can only restore certain backups due to.an MD5 mismatch. Has anyone else had these issues?

Ya I downloaded it and everything and tried different ways and it wont let restore, just says md5 sums mismatched tried 2 sdcards and downloading them in root of sd card and directly in the CWM/restore folder. still a no go, but I can restore other backups and flsh roms. just not the one i need.
Probably won't get to it till thursday or so, but im going to try and go back to completely stock, reroot, reflash cwr, flash cm7. Otherwise im getting a replacement...
Ps
The dl posted in another thread for me failed as well. I also had an intense the other day where all my partitions were completely wiped. It took 3 hours to finally get nv flash to flash cwr and flash a rom.

Ok if anyone is still having problems, id like to mention that I exchanged my 5 year old 2g simcard yesterday for a new one, and bought a new 16gb class 4 sandisk sdcard, and EVERYTHING is working great! so far maybe only 2 or 3 occurrences of data loss, easily corrected with a battery pull. And I borked some lib files trying to get the camcorder to work. So I installed the kanged version update-cm-7.1.0-RC0-G2x-KANG-signed.zip overtop of my build to get the rom to boot again, and now the camcorder works! Maybe only about 15fps but works nonetheless...

I was just thinking everyone is bummed about not having a full working cwm to do a full restore. But when u screw up its Odin to the call. right? I just don't see why we need full CWM when we can use Odin if we mess up. As far as getting things back to normal (setting, icons, wallpapers, etc.) U can use advanced restore to put everything back the way it was before the flash but still keep the effects of new kernels and roms. So i ask this why all the fuss? Also maybe someone could elaborate on the mount issue. Is it only when you try to do a full restore Or flash certain Roms? Oh yea and this is a noob asking.

It's mostly a question of convenience. If we get a fully functioning cwm it can be directly booted in to replacing the stock recovery. More importantly it can be incorporated into Rom Manager which makes lots of things easier and more standardized. Things like flashing roms and kernels or restoring backups and making fixes would be much easier and all right there in rom manager/cwm.
As far as Odin/heimdal goes yes that works for installing roms, restoring from soft bricks, etc. but is no substitute for a nandroid backup/restore which is great for reverting to a former configurations fully and easily after trying out new roms, kernels, etc.
There are other reasons it would be great to have a finished cwm but what we have now is not that bad since it can do most of the important things we need.
I am still interested in what I hear that people are restoring full nandroid backups successfully. The official word is that its not unmounting properly during format function in a restore, at least that's what I understand. If full restore is actually working as some are claiming then I'm not sure what is actually left undone.

Just curious..... Have u tried the full restore yet on CWM? If so what where your results??? I have to admit i finally have my 4g running and set up just how i want it and im a little nervous to try it out(i have done a couple advanced restores) for fear me and my old friend odin might end up getting back together a little sooner than i had planned!

Advanced restore lets you restore just not full restore. It gives you the option to restore system, data, ect one at a time. However I have not tried to restore system just data. Like I said before couldn't full restore due to mounting issue. Also I think nandroid backup is just another term for a full backup of basicly the exact state of the phone at the time back up is done. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Ah so it sounds like there is still a mounting related error after all. And yes you got it about right. A full nandroid restore basically brings your phone back to 100% exactly the state it was in when you backed it up.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App

Let's clear up the confusion...
As I posted on the Wiki, I have successfully done a Nandroid backup and a Nandroid restore... In both cases the "system" was identified as being backed up (or restored).
I have repeated this several times, the most recent being this morning. But, in an effort to not dispute krylon360, I've posted a targeted question to him in his thread announcing CWM3.0.2.8Beta.
I am hopeful of his response!
I was just wondering cause it works for me all the time and I thought it was working for everybody.

restore definitely works on cwm.... u all r kinda being wild... there are already threads on this... look at the development thread for clockworkmod... comparing odin to cwm psshhh
Nothing wrong with odin. Nothing wrong with cwm. I have been backing up and restoring with cwm for a while now. Still don't know if it's a true "nandroid" backup but it restores everything but my lock screen wallpaper. Everytime without fail. So good that I have not had to use odin or titanium. I'm even sure I could odin at this point and get all of it back through cwm. Follow the steps for setting it up you should be fine. I'm running whites KD1 and have been since it came out.(**** I might have to Odin now just to check it out) How do you use Odin again?
Have fun
So I used odin to upgrade to stock ICS. All my apps are there, including all the data. So are all the settings, files on internal storage. I did lose my root and had to reconfigure my hotmail Email. However Flash is not working...I thought odin would erase everything including internal memory? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit
Odin didn't trip the flash counter either. I found that out when I was going to flash cwm.

I had my TB running Zeus Skyraider. I was having some minor issues but nothing that really scared me. I decided to restore it/unroot it in case I had to bring it in. I used the app thunderbolt restore. Now it won't boot past the white "HTC" screen and it only says HTC, no "Quietly brilliant". I can get to the bootloader but it automatically tries to install a update and won't let me do anything other than reboot. I'm really scared I bricked my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I should probably also mention that it did boot up once and everything looked fine, and then I tried to install a verizon OTA update. That is when it started really having problems.
You might yet clearing your cache.

But I can't even get to recovery. The bootloader won't let me.
After the bootloader checks IMG150 or whatever it asks if I want to start update. Whatever I say it just leads to the plain HTC screen again. It also says "***LOCKED***" at the top of the screen. Is my phone completely locked?
The bootloader is locked. Perhaps flash an RUU to return to stock rather than an ota.

Ok, I am pretty bad at this stuff. Can someone point me to an appropriate RUU. I don't know what I should use. Does the radio I had before restoring matter or anything like that? I just want to know exactly what I am doing before I do it.
Okay, Zeus is gingerbread, so if you were running that, then you are best served flashing one of the gingerbread RUU files. You most certainly do NOT want to flash a froyo version.
Development Stickies have them. Read up on how to flash it.

Yes.
Remove the SD and then try to factory reset from the bootloader.
If it doesn't work remove the PG05IMG.zip off of the SD and then rename this https://dl.dropbox.com/u/61129367/Stock-ROM.zip to PG05IMG.zip and put it on the SD and then boot to the bootloader and run it. Then remove the file from the card and try to boot.
So nothing ITT seemed like it helped because the phone was not booting up all the way, but this morning it was on and everything was working so, I think it is at least in a state where I can take it to a verizon store and see what they can do about it. Thanks for all of the advise everyone.

So Thunderbolt restore successfully got you to an old stock rom that ran fine?
I was on CM10 and i felt like checking out the OTA jelly bean update. I figured the easiest way was through a custom rom. The one i picked was Stock Rally or something like that. Anyway, i flashed it and when it installed the boot.img it wiped my entire internal storage. I knew flashing a boot.img wipes the storage but i didnt know this ROM would flash one. I managed to put everything back the way i had it when my messaging app started to force close. I reinstalled the zip thinking it would restore the default messaging app. When it got to the boot.img part it took unusually long again. Wouldnt you know, it wiped my internal storage again. How does this happen if it was the same boot.img?? Im extremely frustrated because now i have to take another 2 hours to get my phone back to the way it was. Can someone please explain how this could happen and if theres an easier way to go to the official OTA without wiping my internal storage again?
How are you flashing it?
Edit: I just checked it the ROM. I can now explain your problem. You downloaded the THE WIPE VERSION. It clearly says that version will wipe your internal hard drive. To fix it DOWNLOAD THE NO WIPE VERSION.

Not a problem. Well some people like a clean start. I do if having problems.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
So, yesterday, I had a perfectly functioning, stock 4.1.1/rooted unit.
Got a little frisky and decided to try out Liquid Smooth. Flashed that through recovery (it's a 4.2.1 Beta 2) but forgot to do the bootlocker.
The latest LS has a Bluetooth sound problem that's pretty bad. So, I thought I'd switch over to CM10.1, their 4.2.1 effort.
Well, without the bootlocker in place, you can pretty much guess how that worked out.
So now, I've odin'ed a variety of roms and so forth; no clue what happened to my backup.
My main focus has been what I call the dunce-cap routine, of going back to stock and starting over.
The problem? I did that and now I'm stuck in roaming mode and my calls don't work.
I'm dead without this phone (considering how long I've been working on this, since 8 pm or so yesterday except for a couple of hours of sleep, I might be dead, period.) and I've got to have one functioning. It's so bad that I'm considering just trashing it and buying another one, even thought THAT would hurt.
Almost everything I try winds up either getting the yellow triangle or the odin fail.
Now, thanks to some help I've gotten here that focused me into understanding this total screw up is MY fault completely, I believe I know what has to be done.
The plan was to go back to stock, root and DO THE DAMNED BOOTLOCKER, then go back into CM10.1 and make some changes in subscribing to CDMA or something (don't have that in front of me this second) to get the phone part of the phone operational but I can't get there.
In the guide here I have completed step 1, flashing the factory image.
The next step is blowing me up. I have used the file I have for the Recovery: CWM6023TouchVZW.tar.md5.tar, maybe 4 times.
NOW when I try it, odin fails and the phone tells me "secure check fail : recovery."
And help would be appreciated. Before I feed this thing to my Doberman Cavalier Spaniel. Or something.

Yup. Completely stock rom is installed. The next step was installing the recovery... and using a file that I had used before, that's where I'm running into the problem of the secure check fail.
That very file HAS worked before, 3 or 4 times with no problem.
Why does the file end in ".tar.md5.tar"? It's supposed to end in ".tar.md5" Since owning this phone, I've never seen a file with ".tar" twice in the file name.

Is there anything I've overlooked? Anything else I need to do?
And do I do the factory reset/wipe dalvik and the rest before, or after?
I presume I have to use ezlock to unlock the bootloader again after this, right?
No, you still need to unlock bootloader and backup your IMEI. You may want to do quite a bit of reading, CM 10 is not as easy to fix some of the potential problems that you could possibly encounter.
I am not hating on them, but don't think it is as simple as one of the TW ROMS.

When I try this method to back up the IMEI it doesn't do anything after entering the *#7284# and if I hit the phone, it just sends me to a Verizon intercept operator.
