[REQ] rm-s Voltage Schedule remover for CWM3? - Captivate General

I have a .zip file that will remove the voltage scheduler if you have any saved on boot. A lot of users are using gingerbread ROMs that uses CWM3 including myself, but unfortunately this program only works with earlier versions of CWM. So I'm looking for a newer zip file that will remove voltage settings or if someone is savvy enough to update the script or whatever it is you have to do, it would be greatly appreciated.. the zip file I'm looking to use can be found in my sig. (schedule remover) ... thanks

cwm3 doesnt have
Advanced options > wipe voltage settings?
all the cwm 2.5 that we've been using for froyo do.
but check this out for converting cwm 2.5 zips to 3.0
CWM 2.5.x.x conversion to 3.0.0.x

I actually thought I remembered seeing that in the advanced options when you said that... but i just booted into recovery and its not there. I appreciate the reply.. i look into that link you provided.. thank you

Ummm what kernel are you using?
Talon most definitely has it.

[MOD] Desire Camera R2 Based on various kernel mods [UPDATE: 5/3]

OK, here's my first real contribution to the Android community... and I owe all credit to the amazing cooks out here...
I take no credit for anything, other than the fact that I kanged Paul's, Pershoot's, Cyangen's, intersectRaven's, Ivan Dimkovic's and Termana's work...
PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE DOWNLOADING AND FLASHING. I SUGGEST U READ THE POSTS OF THE ORIGINAL KERNEL AUTHORS AS WELL.
This is a mod of the Desire Camera R2 port by Paul.
I just pushed the changes to various kernel mods including the stock CM506 kernel.
This should work on any stock version of CyanogenMod... tested on CM 5.0.5.x & CM 5.0.6... These mods should work with other ROMs as well, but I have not tested any. Try at your own risk.
Instructions:
1. Pop the zip file onto your SD card.
2. Reboot into Amon RAs recovery.
3. Do a nandroid backup [VERY IMPORTANT IN CASE YOU FACE SOME PROBLEMS!].
4. Select "Flash zip from SD" and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
Note:
This will flash a modified Pershoot's OC/UV kernel boot.img and replace the camera app. Flashing the boot.img is necessary since this mod requires a change in init.rc. Flashing another boot.img will cause the Desire camera to FC. If you want to flash another kernel, flash the zImage and push the wlan ko. Please use at your own risk (but, no this will not brick your phone).
Known Issues:
You might encounter FCs if you use NexTheme Goodies add-on.
Update (4/26):
Using Pershoot's UC/OV & UC/OV Xtra kernel mods
Using intersect Raven's AVS kernel mods
Using Ivan Dimkovic's AVS & AVS OC kernel mods
Using Termana's .34rc3 kernel mod

Btw, thanks Craig I'm so glad that I can use the desire cam again ^^ I miss it so much ~~~
Reflashed the Kernal update and it works now...I had been using CameraZoom, but think I'm going to uninstall it now as I never really used the plugins.
Thanks!
It works Thank You
Um nevermind... I take back what I said about the fact that it's working properly... it actually isn't.
The camera occasionally closes on me. Sometimes it also restarted my phone when I try to open it too.
Why there is a need to install it together with boot image ? Isn't it just a regular system application with additional libraries ?
If this is a case, is it possible to remove the boot image from the package - this way it can be used by anyone who want to run a different kernel and it won't be any need to reflash the kernel after installing this?

That's what I did ^^;
You should probably mention that by using this, one also overwrites the current kernel.. No good if you use another kernel that the one supplied with this .zip.
Nice work!
Is there a way to change the default names of the pic?
"date_time.jpg" would be nice so they are ordered correctly in gallery..

Actually, this has changes in init.rc (to initialise the htc framework) which can only be changed by flashing the boot image. So no, there's no way to get it working without flashing the boot

[HACK] (Updated 5/25/10) UNIVERSAL OVERCLOCK for ANY ROM-- Wifi Fixed Version 2.0.1

Update to the universal overclock. I've tested it working on several ROMS... seems to be better than my first one. Based off dumfuq's latest OC kernel for CM5 which is based off the latest cyanogenmod. Instructions are the same as below. Let's set some G1s on fire!
EDIT WIFI FIXED NOW
UNIVERSAL OVERCLOCK VERSION 2.01 WIFI FIXED
This can be flashed right over what you have now
EDIT IT DOES WORK ON 1.5-1.6 ROMS !!!!!
Below you'll find a link to an overclock update.zip ... all you have to do is flash it, regardless of your ROM and use set cpu to tweak your settings. It will allow you to clock the CPU up to 825mhz!!! Anything over 768mhz locks up the phone so you may want to set a max value via userinit.sh. 652mhz seems to be stable for me
WARNING: Overclocking can shorten battery life and kill the PROC on your phone. I'm in no way responsible for your phone getting hotter than the sun and exploding.
NANDROID BEFORE FLASHING THIS
I'm not a DEV... i just like to tinker. All I did was notice this and throw it all together--------CREDIT GOES TO Dumfuq, Koush and Pershoot for making this possible
Instructions:
----------------------
INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN CHANGED
*Download and install setcpu.
*Select auto detect (ensure it is set at 528mhz) make sure "set on boot" and "ondemand" are selected
*Download and flash THIS update.zip up to 652mhz Stable or this stable 576mhz overclock from Pershoot from recovery and reboot
*Go back into setcpu... hit "menu" and select autodetect again ...you'll notice you now have frequencies for up to 825mhz
*Configure min and max frequency to your liking (652mhz seems to be best for me) (you may want to set a sleep profile of 245min/245max since you won't need OC while you aren't using the device)
*Enjoy

What ROM are you flashing this on top of?
Agreed, the zip isn't signed correctly. Here's a working version.
Might want to thank Koush and Pershoot for the kernel script too.
This sounds awesome, it could make many sense roms much more usable as a daily!! Will flash and test later tonight when I get home from work. Thanks!

Uses Anykernel.zip created by Koush
updater-script runs and extract the boot.img from your current ROM.
It unpacks the boot.img into kernel and ramdisk.
It repacks newboot.img with the new kernel and the same ramdisk.
It flashes the newly created boot image.
I got the source HERE

So if I'm reading this right, your using koush's anykernal method (which pershoot uses on his kernals) with dumfuq's patch. Good ****.
You might want to let people that dumfuqs kernal defaults to 8xx at boot, so a lot of people won't boot if they don't set default boot after flashing. This can be done with userinit.sh or in /system/banner or something like that if u don't have an ext partation w/userinit.sh. its explaind how to push the line in other theard. Id copy and paste here, but I'm driving right now, lol.
You also might want to give pershoot xtra kernal a shot also. It maxes at 576, but also has other optimasations included and if stable on all g1's.

in other news i just got this to work on a 1.5 sense ROM!!!!!!

[KERNEL][FROYO][8-07-11] PeanutButta Jelly Time

Here is the initial release of my kernel. I'd like to have some other stuff fixed/working, but for now, this is it. I've made a lot of changes and I tried to list them all below, but I know there is stuff that I missed. Currently, the only issue that I know of is that the boot animation will be out of sync and may skip on boot. I have currently retained the stock boot animation, but custom boot animations are also possible if people would like them.
Also, while this kernel can work for recovery, I currently have not tested it, so recovery will remain what it is (ie. jt1134's CWM). I plan on testing recovery soon and releasing an updated Odin for it, as well as just having the kernel zip re-flash recovery.
Installation Instructions:
1. Download zip
2. Transfer to SDCard
3. Reboot into recovery, you'll need to have CWM if you don't already
4. Install zip from SDCard and select the zip you downloaded.
5. Reboot and enjoy

NOTES:
If you are experiencing problems, I need detailed info to be able to fix it or help you out. Failure to provide detailed info will mean I'm just going to ignore your problem as user error. Details would be something such as which kernel you are flashing (filename) and steps to reproduce the issue. Also, if you used any other kernels that had the same problem or didn't have the problem.
DISCLAIMER
By downloading and using the kernels, this signifies that you have read this full post and the FAQ before reporting an issue. You also take all responsibility if your phone breaks or your warranty becomes void (which, if you're flashing this, it already is). I offer no guarantees as to anything working, though I try not to release broken stuff, it happens sometimes.
Legend
voodoo/novoodoo - voodoo has the lagfix, novoodoo doesn't (I hope this was obvious)
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I install this?
You flash this in CWM. If you need CWM, you can find it here
Can I use ROM Manager to flash this?
If you didn't use Odin to flash CWM, this will not work. Also, ROM Manager is not compatible with CWM when it fully replaces stock recovery.
Can I install this over another Voodoo Lagfix kernel?
Yes. Any kernel that use's supercurio's lagfix can be flashed over any other kernel that uses it.
How do I disable Voodoo Lagfix?
Create a file on the SDCard named disable-lagfix within the voodoo folder (/sdcard/voodoo/disable-lagfix). You can also use the option in the Voodoo Control app (from the market) or the option in CWM Recovery to disable the lagfix.
How do I know if it is installed?
Go to Settings > About Phone and the kernel version should read:
Code:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Will this work with xxx ROM?
This will work with any currently available ROM that is posted here.
Can I overclock with this kernel?
No. Currently overclocking is not supported. I do plan on looking into implementing this in a future version though.
Can I use SetCPU with this kernel?
You can use SetCPU with this, but do not use profiles. If you have problems and are using profiles, I'm not going to try to fix them as profiles do not work properly on any SGS phone that I've seen.
Does this kernel include xxx feature?
If it is not listed in the first post, probably not. To be sure, check the commits to the source on Github.
Can you add/implement xxx feature?
If you can link to what you want added/changed, I can look into doing so. If you just say something like "I want bigger quadz!" with no information about what you want or where to find it, I'll just disregard your request.
I am having xxx issue, can you fix it?
See the NOTES section above. Failure to provide any steps to reproduce your error, or a log of the issue as it is occurring will not get your problem fixed. I need the output from logcat and/or dmesg to be able to fix problems. Use the following to obtain a log (easiest with ADB).
Code:
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Enter one of the commands and attempt to recreate your issue. Logcat will run constantly until you stop it (disconnect the phone, or ctrl+c). Dmesg will dump the current buffer and end. Try to get a logcat first as it will be easier to capture the error. PM me the files once you've collected them and I will look into it. DO NOT POST THEM IN THE FORUM. Logcat and dmesg may both contain identifying information (like your phone number or email address) so PMing them to me will prevent everyone from seeing this info. If you need help, ask or join IRC.
If you would like something added to the FAQ, please post it in the following format:

You do not need to go back to ed1. Just flash the appropriate kernel.

Kernels are almost always independent of the ROM, so yes, you can install this regardless of what ROM you are running (Stock, debloated, something else). If/When we get a non-TouchWiz based ROM, this may change, but for now, you can use this with anything currently available.

[CF-ROOT] CF-ROOT for Gingerbread XXKPM-XXKPH-JPKP5 UPDATE 20.10.2011

First of all... Thanks Chainfire!!!! This is totally based on your work.... i made only some MOD....
Ok, the work is quite finished... the CF-ROOT for I9003 is ready!
I called this "beta version" (since i need your tests/opinions) but all might work.
IMPORTANT: This is only for KPH Firmware!!!
You can flash this over any other CWM or over the stock FW.
Many people will ask "Why i have to install this?"... because with this your phone will have:
- Root ( don't need to use SOC or any ZIP);
- Busybox 1.17.2;
- Sqlite3 v3.7.2;
- init.d support (you can put in the folder /system/etc/init.d all the script that you want to be loaded at the startup);
- New fixed CWM ( unyaffs issue has been fixed - offline charge fixed - USB storage mode while in CWM fixed);
- Add EXT4 support to the phone ( so you can convert the filesystem to ext4 to improve performance);
- full working CWM Manager (backup - restore - delete backup - install apk - flash update.zip - flash kernel - reboot to CWM);
- Tweaks Manager with various tweak ( Ram Min Free - SD Speed - I/O Scheduler - Kernel Scheduler - CPU Conservative Governor - Swappiness - Ram Script by Juwe11 - Media Stagefright)---> Many people asked for Juwe Ram Script ---> to enable it completely choose in the Tweaks Manager: Ram Script - Ram Min Free and Swappiness;
- Auto ZIP-Align on boot - You can choose it in the tweaks app(NEW)
- Reviewed tweaks values (some from darky's rom some from hardcore some from other post in XDA)( thanks to bigeyes0x0 and Misledz )(NEW)
- Custom Boot-Animation support (place your custom bootanimation in /system/media/ and call it sanim.zip)(NEW)
To do:
- other tweaks suggested by you...
- whatever can be added.
Let me know what you think
HERE you can find the original post.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1- Flash with Odin the .tar file
or...if you went from a previous version of CF-ROOT
2- Download the .zip file into the external SD the open CWM Manager --> flash Kernel --> select the file you have just downoaded
IMPORTANT:
If you cannot find the two apps on your app drawer maybe you haven't space left on /system so delete some unused apps like aldiko, delere /system/cfroot folder and reboot
IMPORTANT/2: after the flash the phone might take some time to boot. You might think that it freeze on Samsung Logo but it's normal cause the auto-zipalign proc need some time. Just Wait.
UPDATE: Added CF-ROOT with my custom kernel. This have Ext4 inside the kernel (no modules) and OC to 1.1 Ghz. I think that it is secure. I haven't test it very well so please report me the issues you will find.
!
Version 05.09.2011 Changelog:
- added Graphics Boost Tweak (thanks Gana)
- added acid tweaks (thanks to the people that worked on it .. specially Bigeyes0x0);
- reviewed 00tweaks file by Bigeyes0x0;
To disable journaling on ext4 partition apply the attached journaloff.zip in CWM (Not CWM Manager app - it must be fixed).
There're two version of the CF-ROOT, the version with **CWM_Manager** can be flashed with CWM Manager App (select flash kernel) the other with odin (like always)
UPDATE 20.10.2011:
CF-ROOT for XXKPM can be found HERE:
- Standard Version --> http://www.multiupload.com/S463K75UED
- Surprise version ( i suggest you this) --> http://www.multiupload.com/G20L6PL5WC
What's new ?
- I finally finished the custom bootanimation support.... now works like he have to works. Just copy your bootanimation into /system/media and rename it to sanim.zip.... i think that here you can find what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17322814#post17322814
IMPORTANT!!!
If you have installed the beta version you must know that the ext4 conversion for that doesn't work properly. Ok, system, cache and dbdata will be on ext4 but data not. This because the init binary check on boot if /data have rfs FS and, if not, it format the partition wiping all your data.
In the new version i modified the init binary so it cannot do it more
I must say that i became mad to discover this damn thing !
A few questions: Are you using the latest fixed version of CWM? Also you mentioned that you would be releasing another update soon regarding the Nandroid backup image corruption issue. Is it in this release?
Also: Is this an alternative to ROM manager, apart from the inclusion of the tweaker tool?
Regarding the enhancements, could you please elaborate on some of them and what is safe/not safe to use (particularly in the tweaks and what they do)?
What I understood, after looking over all the posts, was that you optimized the CF-Root by chainfire for the i9003, by using a compatible Root, CWM, and adding an ext4 kernel? Are you going to port the ext4 converter tool as well? Will we be able to use an external SD card with ext4 formatting (Could be used to store files larger than 4GB)?
Sorry about the ton of questions. Trying to learn, and what better way to learn than from the best!
I'm going to take it out for a test drive now on XXKPE with ext4! Will report back later!
Thanks for your valuable work, I'm a huge fan!!!
Cheers
Update: Confirming that the passive charging bug has been fixed! Thanks Skin1980!
I cannot find the CWM or Tweaks icons in the app drawer as indicated in your screenshots. I can access CWM recovery mode using the 3 button combo though.
I had installed the last version of CWM by Amit and formatted with ext4 and I just used ODIN to flash over that install. I tried flashing again, still not appearing in app drawer. Any solutions?
Great job skin.. Hoping for the early release of a stable one.. Will test it later
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA Premium App
it's great...>.<
Auguri! Ok wow, This is pure genius . I've always been wondering what our CWM were based off. I guess using this would fix most issues people get when flashing CWM, since it's based off the original firmware
Also I'm loving the tweaks, they seem to make the phone more smooth, Although I've seen a few bugs after applying this I can't seem to use the V6 charger script anymore I get an error, will be posting one shortly. There are some minor hiccups in between and I tend to get FC on some apps when I multitask.
Edit: Turns out It's busybox related, no shell access. I've tried launching Busybox by Stericsons to check and It says no root access was given and boots me out.
i happy that u r belong to this community
Is there any recovery module or tweak available, in which we can handle basic file operation like copy, move from sd card to system or any thing similar?

1- The CWM used is always the last... if i'll update the CWM i'll update the CF-ROOT;
2- The CWM fixed reguard nandroid backup is under test;
3- My CWM isn't ROM Manager compatible... with the CWM Manager from Chainfire you can do a lot of things without going into CWM
4 - to convert in EXT4 just follow the guide on the other thread;
5- Not sure if you can format in XT4 your external_sd... try ;
6- The tweak are all sure... now i haven't time to exlplain better... some don't work.... some other work.
7- If the icon don't appear in app drawer try to check into system/app if the two files are there... if not try to remove /system/cfroot folder and reboot. Maybe your system folder is full so you can install they manually, the original apk are inside /res/misc/ folder.

What your asking for is impossible.
Update!
The problem I had turned out to be due to the lack of space in the "/system" folder - as you had predicted Skin1980! Once I deleted some unnecessary software, I was up and running fully within minutes!
The phone works great! The fixes are really good! Having no issues except for one so far. I can't seem to mound "sdcard" in CWM recovery mode and cannot do a restore, for the same reason, from the CF-ROOT menu.
I have a feeling it's something I did wrong earlier, so I'll reflash completely and try again ('cause I have a lotta time on my hands atm and I want the bestest possible phone I can get).
Note: This doesn't seem to be compatible with DDKB2. Assuming that this is mainly for GB firmwares? Can someone corroborate this?
As usual, thanks!

I did notice that initially it was fast. But as I kept it going through the day to recalibrate the battery, it did slow down and start to lag. I thought it was something to do with that. Also I felt that I had done something wrong with the flashing.
Going to overhaul my phone completely: Format, re-partition, XXKPE install (flashing twice), flash fixed CWM from the other thread, root using SOP 2.1.1, install busybox requirements for deodexing (this failed for me the last few times), restore settings using Titanium Backup, Nandroid backup, ext4 this baby, restore, and then install CF-ROOT to monitor.
Wish me luck! See you guys on the other side... again!

You've got the wrong thread mate!
Your bandwidth is capped by you operator and is dependent on how much they allocate you. On top of that 2G is physically limited to certain speeds which, usually, cannot be surpassed by legal means, and the illegal ones give you too less of a boost vs complications and errors to even bother about (I mean big ass hardware)!

Stability of these kernels and CWM5

Hello FB, will you help me.
I'm not sure which of these kernels is stable, except the v0.0.2d with CWM3.
From your post:
sms-T959V-KJ6-v0.1.1-rc2.zip
From bhundven post:
Subtly Modified Stock for T959V KJ6 v0.1.1-rc1+: sms-T959V-KJ6-v0.1.1-rc1-unsigned-update.zip
sms-T959V-KJ6-v0.1.1-rc1-unsigned-update.zip {same as #1 ? (above rc1+)}
sms-T959V-KJ6-v0.1.0-unsigned-update.zip
Besides the /system unmount issue, what is the advantage of CWM5 vs CWM3?
Thank you
Fb's latest kernel is the most stable kernel as off now.
i would say go for fb's kernel
fb modified or i should say upgraded bhudven kernel...
and it got team acid splash screen which is a very nice touch

I got 66 hours with no reboots on RC2.
The main differences between CWM 3 and 5 are that CWM 5 doesn't have trouble making and restoring backups (made in CWM 5), the ability to have ADB in recovery and the option to reboot to download.
Additionally, it has most of the changes made after Dec 7, 2011:

Thank you JMW and FB.
Is this the normal message state?
CWM-based VooDoo LagFix Recovery v5.0.2.7
Voodoo lagfix is actually: disabled
......................next boot: enabled
Option:
/system lagfix conversion: yes
...................debug mode: no
I show this from a terminal session:
/system ext4 rw,
/cache ext4 rw
/data ext4 rw
I tried to disable VooDoo but it does not disable, do I need to start with VooDoo disabled from version 0.0.2d?
I went back to v0.0.2d and disabled VooDoo, then flashed v0.1.1 rc2. The conversion took place per the voice. But it still shows that it is disabled as above.
Bark, read the OP under Features
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513287
The RC2 version of the kernel forces you onto ext4 (lagfix) since there's no real reason why you should stay on RFS (lagfix disabled).
Not sure why that was confusing to me, but I really appreciate your quick response. Thank you for straightening me out!
Whoops! I heard my phone rebooting as it sat on the table. I guess I'll go back to v0.0.2d.
I'm running stock GB with AS 14.1 and Tegrak UV/OC to 1.2.
I have been running this kernel without any problems whatsoever.
I would check your UV/OC values to see if that is causing the reboot.

Hello JN,
I'm going to chose oc/uv over the latest version of this kernel. I checked my settings and they are as suggested. I guess if the v0.0.2d kernel can tolerate my OC/UV settings and not reboot then I would deem it a tad more stable.
Since I can use the CWM5 version at will, I will use it to do backups. But I will use the v0.0.2d version daily as the OC'ing does make this device snappier. I don't understand the "ADB in recovery" part of the explanation, got to do some reading.
Do you overclock your phone, I would be interested in the setting you use.
Thanks!
my phone rebooted once after flashing the latest kernel.
after half a month no problems yet

Hello JMW,
That is interesting. I wonder if after some time the kernel adjusts something and then calls for a reboot.
I will go back and run the latest again and then give it some time based upon your input.
Thank you.
Common causes for phone to reboot is the voltage governor is too low or just something wrong with it
just for the record Bhudven and Fb nailed the values ;-)

The voltage/cpuspeed 's have not changed between v0.0.2d and latest.
The thing is, I only know of a few people that have any problems and no one has given me or fb any kind of logs to prove there is a problem.
No logs, nothing to fix.

The values have always been nailed. The have not changed.
The only problems I have with this kernel is going from BML (fsr/rfs/ext4) to MTD then back to BML.
I try using heimdall and odin and the only way for me to revert back to bml is using the 'eraseall' command at the sbl prompt (which isn't easy to get to if you don't have the right tools or know what your doing) then one-click with bootloaders. Something wrong with the erase-block-size/page-size with mtd vs. bml. idk, still trying to figure that one out.
too bad i cannot provide logs.
as far as observe it always reboot once after i install the latest from fb....
note: before reboot, laggy
but all runs great after that reboot
i dunno why this happens but I think it a great thing
i just wanna make people aware of it.
damn this kernel diving must be mind boggling thats why I will stick to theme

Thank you for your work, but can you please address why the kernels you released since you disabled Deep Idle and DMA Engines have random reboot issues. Many many people who have reverted back to the 2d kernel no longer have these issues.
I'm fairly sure it's because of init.d scripts messing with the CPU settings and other kernel settings.
I'm going to write a "stability" build of RC2 that just backs up your init.d on boot and wipes the directory. Bet you'll get rid of your reboots until you start messing with Tegrak and OC/UC/UV settings.

I am so willing to submit logs, if I only knew how. I have read thousands of posts on this site and have learned a ton about my phone and how to upgrade it. But try as I may and I have tried, I cannot find a good reference document on collecting logs. I heard some people say I will run a logcat and I have downloaded log collector from the market.
I used to work in the field service arena and it was common that our customers would collect error data for us to use to find their problems, but they would always collect the wrong things until we gave them a list of what we needed and how to collect it. So I am sure that it is my noob searching that has made it difficult for me to throw a lasso around this issue, but if someone would direct me to a thread or give instructions I am sure it would help me and I think maybe some others too.
I would also like to thank the devs that replied in this thread. I'm sure there are better things to do then reply again to the reboot issues some are experiencing. I truly appreciate your time, offerings and effort.
Thx

I have no init scripts, no init.d directory, & do not oc/UV. I have the reboot issue. Bryan looked @ a logcat I took a while back but it held no clues. I'll see if I can find the time to install a kernel past 2d and troubleshoot.
