You should beable to update. The update will unroot, and you don't have to worry about that.

I have a US WiFi that I flashed with the Canadian build. Do you think I will get the Canadian update or will my XOOM still be recognized as a US XOOM?

So that's mean I don't need to relock it back?

2.20 Root Status

I'm just wondering as to the status of gaining root access on the AT&T 2.20 update. I just bought my HOX via a third party, and it came with 2.20, so right now I'm SOL.
I know ETA's don't typically exist, but will creating a bounty help move this along?

Bump
Hopefully someone finds an exploit because I want to install a custom rom so badly!
:crying:
There's nothing to report. My gut feeling is we will need to be granted sanctioned bootloader unlock to get root again.

sorry I'm not so good with rooting. Does that mean that we need htc to let us unlock our bootloader so we can install a rooted android os?

Yes or someone needs to find a new exploit for the new 2.20 to allow root.

Yes. At the very least we need unlocked bootloader in order to install a custom recovery so we can install root.
I found this just a moment ago. I have no clue if these would work though.

Lol that rom is from one of our devs it's his website the rom is in the dev section its a rooted version of the update without the hboot. It does no good to anyone who took the ota that was locked and had no root prior to doing so.

I'm afraid I'm not as versed in Android phones as I am with Apple. It seems that Android is a bit more complex. Well, I tried to help, hehe.

If you have a retail outlet around you (i.e. Best Buy, etc.), you can do what I did. Return the new phone and buy one from old shelf stock. If they received it before August then it's guaranteed to have firmware of 1.85 or older.
This is really bad!
any news or updates about being able to root 2.20? I have a HOX on 2.20 and i'm wondering if I should just sell it or wait

As of now still no updates on when root will be achieved.
There is thread in the general section
Root 2.20 Think Tank
That is where you will find the most update info.

I did install it but now i have tons of issues. So maybe reinstall the RUU my Bat doesnt last 4 hours when it used to last 2 days
I hope for your sake you rooted and unlocked your bootloader prior to running the RUU because if not, you're stuck.
there's no Root for 2.20

Is the Asus tool the only way to unlock the bootloader?

Like the title says, is the Asus tool the only way? From what I read I need to have the bootlader unlocked to install custom roms, right? Thanks!

Thanks. I should be buying a TF300 in the next few days. If I do the JB OTA and then unlock, and decide that I don't like JB, will I be able to install ICS roms? Would I have to downgrade the firmware? Thanks again for any help...

Even with an unlocked bootloader, there's currently no way back to ICS from JB. So if you update, you're stuck there for now. There are one or two custom JB Roms though if you aren't happy with stock JB.

Thanks for that. If I go the other way around and stick with ICS and unlock the bootloader, will I be able to upgrade to JB later (not necessarily stock JB)?

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader -> No OTA-Updates?

I've read in one Thread, that if my Bootloader is unlocked, i will not get any OTA-Updates anymore.
Is that true, has anyone experience with this or experienced it?
Thanks in Advance, Esok44

Can I downgrade when I am running 4.4.4?

I have a Droid Maxx (which I think is basically an Ultra) running Android 4.4.4. It is not an unlocked version. Can I downgrade to an older firmware?
