My nexus s is coming next week and I will probably root it in day 1 (and restore my titanium backup from my old Desire). I've seen a lot of ROMs but I'm not sure which one should I use. Any suggestions for a beginner?
Also wondering if I should stick to 2.3.3 (I might use CM7 since I loved them on my old buddy) or update to 2.3.4.
Is the root method different for 2.3.4 btw? I don't know with which version it will come.

Go NSCollab and latest kernel from netarchy. It is CM 7.0.3 which is 2.3.3
It is incredibly stable , and will be updated to 2.3.4 when the merge is complete (currently latest nightlies are part 2.3.3 and 2.3.4
We are very fortunate to have many active devs working on very good ROMs. Browse through the development forums and grab whichever one tickles your fancy. If it doesn't work out, try a new one.
I personally am partial to the infin1ty ROM. 2.3.4, working video chat with gtalk. Stockish with some flavor thrown in. The dev is very engaged with his users and very helpful.

I kinda feel left out. It seems everyone has updated or at least tried to update to the Gingerbread release on LGs site.
But after reading how many people had complications or even bricked their phone, I decided not to try and update, hoping that an official "over the air" update will come from tmobile.
Am I the only one that decided it's to risky to try the update and is still on Froyo? Who else has concerns like mines?
I have not either. So far it seems more trouble than it's worth... Waiting on a good, stable release of GB from the devs!

I didnt im waiting for cm7 to adapt new leak to their project

Also waiting for a CM7 without driver issues. EaglesBlood Froyo til then.
I did not update. I've waited this long.. might as well wait for the official T-Mobile version.

Haven't updated either...I'm running xboarder's GB 2.3.4 and it's pretty stable...still get sod and have overheating issues but they don't happen often.
I want to try out the new update and baseband but don't want to brick my phone as so many have done, so ill just wait a littlebit longer...

Me neither. I wait for a flashable version with new LG drivers and baseband.
I have not either I'm waiting for the Ota...I'm still trying to find out if the update everyone is using is really official or not.

I haven't updated either, mine is the LGP999DWP phone and it keeps saying that my software is up to date. when I read the forums and see how many people are having issues updating to it, i am somewhat glad i can't update right now...wiating for the OTA from T-Mobile I hope they deploy it soon.
i'm also waiting for CM7 to get the latest drivers. but cm7 is already running 2.3.4 so i don't see any reason to downgrade to 2.3.3. from what i have been reading, my cm7 is equal to being as stable as the "OTA". it works great for me.
What GB update?
Lol. Its a downgrade from CM7. While it is nice sometimes to "just work" but my G2x is pretty good on CM7. Occassionally does a nightly give me fits.

Pretty much this. After using CM7 for so long, then using the newest Gingerbread leak, it just felt so wierd.

Faux123 for Dev *Join the revolution*
yea me neither plus the new miui rom for the g2x is sick
I have not. I tried but the LG updater freezes in Vista.
No update here. I am staying with froyo Dark &Sinister with Faux's kernel. I will only change after the Faux and the other developers incorporate this release inbto their work.
Why didn't LG update to 2.3.4 and skip 2.3.3?

Consensus seems to be that this is still just a development build. Also, given the amount of time it takes to test a ROM on a phone and the frequency that Google updates their OS, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the final shipped version is still 2.3.3.
What is the most stable gingerbread rom out there right now? I'm trying to find a stable rom for my sister. Shes not the biggest techy out there so I just need something that isn't going to crash, has sense and runs gingerbread. Thanks!

I'm running the Telus (Canadian) GB 2.50.405.2 pretty much stock. Rock solid stable. Try Juicy's or RumRunner. They are both based on this ROM.

Due to the differences in hardware in each phone Bo one will be able to tell you what rom will work best for you. I can tell you that all the roms have been stable for me but it might not be for you. Like take CM based roms. Most would suggest this as it is very popular but for me it is a last resort rom
I just flashed Gingerbeast - Seems pretty dang stable to me...
Go with what Gene Poole mentioned. These are pretty much stock ROMS. No surprises there. Everything should run smooth. And everything works. Been running Juicy's 2.52 ROM for about a week and it has performed 100% with no hiccups.
Why would you give your sister a highly modded ROM that is high maintenance? Stay safe and give her a 2.52 stock ROM.
That's what I figured to just get her a pretty much stock rom, thanks for the help guys

Hey Guys. I have the Samsung Galaxy S 4G from T-Mobile and it came with Froyo. I then upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.2 and I am wondering if I can update to the most recent release for Gingerbread which is 2.3.5? Sorry if this has been asked before but I haven't really been able to find a solution. Anyway at all? Thank you.
How did you get 2.3.2? OTA?
There's no 2.3.5 atm. However, there are 2.3.4 ROMs already out in the Development section. If you want to flash them, be sure to do plenty of reading first.
I checked 2.3.5 and even on Vibrant, the only ones seem to be CM7 builds and Vibrants have dozens of roms available. So CM7 would have to be ported to the 4G first and that hasn't happened yet even for 2.3.4.
On the bright side, KH2 stock seems to be faster than anything I ran on my Vibrant before I broke it.

Just a correction before people start thinking that CM7 for the SGS4G is ported. Krylon360 and Team Whiskey are working very hard to build CM7 from scratch. They're not porting it.
I have a two part question. I am currently running CM6 with Android 2.2. I am using Android 2.2 on my Milestone xt720 due to the Flash Player.
I have seen there are some CM7 builds out there. My camera is not working too well with cm6. I am looking to upgrade to CM7 but I am also seeing a lot that say to go back to Android 2.1. Will I lose the Flash Player and which CM7 build is most stable?
