I'm running the Telus (Canadian) GB 2.50.405.2 pretty much stock. Rock solid stable. Try Juicy's or RumRunner. They are both based on this ROM.

Due to the differences in hardware in each phone Bo one will be able to tell you what rom will work best for you. I can tell you that all the roms have been stable for me but it might not be for you. Like take CM based roms. Most would suggest this as it is very popular but for me it is a last resort rom
I just flashed Gingerbeast - Seems pretty dang stable to me...
Go with what Gene Poole mentioned. These are pretty much stock ROMS. No surprises there. Everything should run smooth. And everything works. Been running Juicy's 2.52 ROM for about a week and it has performed 100% with no hiccups.
Why would you give your sister a highly modded ROM that is high maintenance? Stay safe and give her a 2.52 stock ROM.
That's what I figured to just get her a pretty much stock rom, thanks for the help guys

Hi, I don't own a G2X but my friends do. Their both having data connectivity issues and random rebooting. One has leaked gingerbread rom and one has stock rom. I've given them new sim cards but still same problem. Can anyone recommend a good stable-ish Rom that can take care of these issues? I was looking at the Eagleblood 2.3.4 Rom any feedback?
Thanks for the help!

I'm having great results with the Ultimate G2X 1.0 rom. Its fast/snappy/responsive, very stable, everything works, great theme.
I've tried the CM7 nightlies and they're pretty darn good, but still enoight quirks that I'll stick with Ultimate for now as my main rom.

EB 1.0.4 with Faux's Kernel
EB 1.0.5 with faux kernel, it's friggen awesome!
I will also chime in for EB 1.05 (the froyo based rom) with faux's kernal. I tried out Ultimate 1.0 on my phone, but I was getting a bunch of FC's and "zombie widgets." I doubt it was a problem with the rom itself...it seems to be an awesome rom. But I run SPB Shell 3D, and I think maybe there was some kind of incompatibility with the theming. I don't know...but I tried and tried, and finally just gave up and went back to the EB because...well, it simply works. I haven't had a single problem with it.

I want to try that out, but I think you have to flash other stuff with that as well? Like gapps? Little confusing for me since I'm pretty much a newb at this stuff
if youre looking for stability i use fauxs oc stock kernel with stock rom. all other roms at this point cause different issues. mainly games not working such as nova saying wrong version or not updating for me. stock wouldn't be my choice for looks but everything seems to work and OC kernel with Go Launcher EX and its new app drawer animations make it pretty cool.
p.s. everytime i try a rom then go back to stock i get a bunch of text messages that for some reason always never get recieved when using other roms as well.
I was new to this stuff like u about a week ago. I really like eaglesblood and you probably wont need a kernel. Eaglesblood fixed the issues I had. Oh BTW I'm using 1.0.5 if u were wondering

All of the 2.3.x roms have issues, not the developers fault, it is because the roms are based off a leaked early GB rom and are missing some of the drivers/features.
To me working BT and GPS are necessary features in a "best" rom, so I look to the froyo based roms, currently my every day rom is team Shockwave's Dark Sinister Rom.
If BT & GPS are not important, then Eagleblood Rom with Faux's OC Kernal is relatively issue free.

Uh, search would be best. When you say best stock ROM, not sure what you mean as a lot of the ROMs are stock based..some more then others. Best bet is start here (below link). If you're looking for a stock like ROM with all the bloatware gone I know they make a stock ROM (never tried it). I've been using RCmix and just switched to coredroid and love it. Both are pretty much stock but have sense and some minor tweaks here and there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1018
How could you even think to call those stock? Not even close. lol
This ROM is the closest to stock ATT gingerbread out there. Well it is exactly that. The stock rooted 2.47 Gingerbread ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192372
All others have a little modification done.
Gene Poole's InspirePhacopedia is next closest to ATT stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193244
Cleardroid by ClearD is also a slightly modified stock based ROM.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996368
RumRunner and Juicy ROM are also close to stock ROMS. But they are based off a latest Desire HD build and not the inspire. But they have both been made to look and perform like the inspire's build. I run Juicy ROM myself and have had zero issues with it. I highly recommend it. This ROM is 99% stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169656
And PirateGhost's RumRunner is just as fine but it has the most modification done to it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176943
Best thing about these last 2 versions is that they are completely ATT free and the HotSpot Tethering app works with no issues. So does the messaing app. At least I think there is no issue with RumRunners messaging.
I am looking forward to Gene, PG, or Juicy to release an almost stock build of the 3.06 test build. Hint Hint

I apologize if the OP was confused by comment as this guy has pointed out, I shouldn't have referred to the other ROMs as stock, but based on stock with modifications. I stand corrected.
Hi guys,
I decided I want to flash an ICS rom to my nexus S.
Question I have though, is what will work for my phone, which is a 9020A (AT&T) and what rom would give me the closest to stock ICS like what OTA ICS would be?
I was thinking cyanogenmod 9 but I have used CM7 and remembered it being sort of a hassle...
I really want the facial unlock feature if possible. I don't know if it's native in ics or what but I want that.
Tell me why you think the rom you suggest is best, please. I want to know what the pros and cons to it are. And links would be really nice!
Thanks!
stock ics
I'm happy with the stock 4.0.3, I tested Peter Alfonso nightlies lately but I was annoyed by his adjusted auto brightness however it seems to be very popular and smooth and fast.
Stock runs great on my i9023 and there are no killer features in any stock like rom yet imho. But I'm using a custom kernel which is imho always better than the stock kernel.
edit: face unlock is useless since it recognizes nothing and is less secure than a pin or a pattern
Im using the same model phone as you are and running cybergr ics v3. Its by far the best rom so far.. try it, he has alot of extra features.. daily rom. In a couple of days v4 is coming out.
I just flashed revolution HD 4.2.3 this morning with speedy 4 kernel and this is definitely the best combination I've used so far.

I still use the DrewGaren ROMS, they are plenty fast and stable, along with the latest Glados Kernel They seem to give me the best results.
Stand corrected. cybergr ics v3 is a really fast ROM, probably the fastest i've ever seen my phone, just need to update it to v2.8 Glados
Face Unlock is a cool feature. Unfortunately, our front camera is too bad to properly recognize faces. If you get lucky - in good light - you might be able to unlock it, but it really is no fun at all.

Works great. No radio flash needed. Install went smooth aside from a few derps on my part. Rom seems a bit laggy but I think it's just because it's reinstalling everything. other times it's blown me away by how fast it is. Face unlock works pretty well. love the interface. I can't believe it's android, its awesome!
I've tested almost every ICS rom's available and right now KANGY6 with MATRIX v14.5 CFS it's the best combo for me.
i'm getting 3000+ on Quadrant with 1.46Ghz OC
You may try the CYBERGR ROM it's also very stable and fast.

ok, I dun goofed. I think I restored a system app on accident thinking that it would restore my messages or something... but my mobile data quit working when i restored that stuff (multiple restores, but thought i was just restoring user apps not system). any idea how to fix the mobile data without re-flashing?
Edit: Fixed, but lost my conversations in my messaging. Oh well. At least the android gods love me again. Anyways this rom is great, it works perfectly! So smooth!
Looking to get a few opinions from ppl that flash multiple roms to their devices. Looking for something that is stable, not overclocked, and has the least amount of reported issues. Thanks in advance!!
i am currently using insertcoin 4.6.1 and it is very stable and fast also without overclocking it
Android Revolution HD is great, very fast, very stable and I've had no issues so far.
The Android Revolution HD ICS is a really good ROM. I just recently flashed it and love it. It's fast and stable. I performed the benchmark test with the ROM and came up around 2900-3000 compared to the previous 1900s.
I will second Insertcoin. The only issue is the inbuilt WiFi tether being broken, but I believe that is an issue with ALL current ICS roms. Barnacle works wonders.
Flashing Android revolution as we speak.. I thought it was supposed to give an option to select 1.2 or 1.5?
InsertCoin and ARHD are both extremely popular options. My suggestion is to try them both and see which one works best for you. Give each one a few days to get the kinks worked out and always make sure you do a full backup and Super Wipe every time you change ROMs!

I had the same thoughts as you when I was using Clockwork Mod to flash roms, it never asked anything about the install. Now, I use Touch Recovery and I have yess/no options when I flash roms now
Its really difficult to find a fully compatible ROM for your phone, as what happen to mine tried the popular one which i got a lot of issues some people not, so I tried other. Every ROM's claiming fast/stable. To be fair you can to try each for yourself which I did and happy with what i have now. Different people have thier own choices depends on what their need. Go out and explore there now 44+ ROMS you can narrow down which is more popular and depends on their feedbacks. Goodluck.
If you would like to try non-sense I recommend miui v4 or either CM9 kang. I've had zero issues with either.

Yeah, it will ask you but only if you have installed 4Ext recovery instead of clock work mod. In my experience 4Ext is a much more complete recovery.

insertcoin rom is the best for me
I've been running Android Revolution HD 5.3 since January. This was my first experience with a non-stock android device as I bought the device configured in that way. I was very happy with it, but couldn't get HTC Sync to transfer my contacts and found it a little laggy, other then that it was great. The best advice I was given to fix my issue was to reload/update the ROM. Mike actually uploaded his latest version 6.4.0 while I was downloading 6.3.1 so I scrapped that and went with 6.4.0 since it was based on the Final HTC RUU 3.32.401.3.
Its only been a day so its not much of a test, but so far its way better and faster then the old ROM even when it was fresh. HTC sync worked flawlessly. the response time is as close to instant as you can get. You need to use 4ext recovery to have the option to use the 1.5Ghz kernel or load the Sony Bravia engine. I chose both options and have seen no issues, only improvements.
Like everyone said its really your taste so try out a few varieties, just remember to superwipe between them else you might find bugs that aren't really an issue with the ROM but because you didn't clear all the old data.
All the best and have fun.

Well ... you have lots of choices, and each one is good. If you like all the bells and whistles, Cyanogen Mod released a new nightly a couple of days ago. Even though it's a "nightly", it is very stable and makes a good daily driver. If you prefer a more stock approach there is Oxygen, which has a few mods, and is an excellent choice. Peter Alfonso also has a very nice, mostly stock GB rom ... very stable. All of these are 2.3.7 android systems. If you would like a basic, very quick system, then you might try DevNull 1.1, which you will find at the Oxygen forums. It is a 2.3.5 android rom ... and one that I have used extensively. All of these choices are quite good ... simply depends on what you're looking for. Message me, is there is anything else I can help you with ... have fun!

I had NSCollab 1.0.6.0 (2.3.7) before switching to ICS. I thought it was a decent rom. It's based off CyanogenMod, so it's got a bunch of tweaks (such as different lockscreens).
