Apologies for starting this thread but I've searched the WP7 forums before posting this.
Last night my phone battery died (as per normal with heavy use), when I plugged it into the charger later in the evening, it turned on and has remained frozen on the start screen "Samsung Omnia7" and doesn't load up as normal from there.
I've left it charging for a few hrs, so I know battery is ok, but everytime I turn it on, it's frozen on that screen.
I've tried a hard reset which takes literally 2 seconds before saying that it's done but then goes back to the same start screen and remains frozen.
Any ideas what to do?

Since you've already hard reset and lost your data, you could try flashing a new ROM from samfirmware.com.
There's a really good guide for doing this in the Omnia 7 forums:

Thanks for the suggestion, will give that a go.
Alternatively, I may just use my phone insurance and arrange a replacement through Orange.
Better get a replacement if can.

You could do that. Flashing would most likely void your warranty so may be worth trying to get a replacement first.
Managed to get a replacement from Orange this evening.
The mods can delete this thread if you want.
Also, just a quick note, connected it to Zune and the NoDo update is still not available unless I push through the method mentioned here on the forums.

Hey everyone.
I just got a brand-new G-Tablet through Sears. I'm checking here to see if anyone has any ideas before their tech support opens in ~two hours.
I got it to my office, plugged it in and charged it until the light turned green. Then I turned it on and played with it a bit. I didn't have a method to put it on the network right then to sync anything, so I really just poked around and then set it to the side. One thing to note is that I wasn't presented with a setup screen at all, it booted straight to home.
Then later that afternoon when I went to go home, it wouldn't power on. I'm not sure if it went to sleep or powered off, but nothing happens no matter what button combination I press. I've tried just pressing power, holding it down for 4 seconds, holding it down for 30 seconds, power and volume + at the same time, and power and volume - at the same time.
I tried hooking it up to my computer last night, thinking that maybe the display didn't come back from sleep and maybe I could force a reboot via ADB, but it must be off alltogether since it didn't trigger a USB installation on the computer.
When I plug it in to charge, the little light turns red, then a while later turns green, indicating that it is fully charge, yet still no joy.
Your thoughts?
Press the power button for a really long time to see.

Just held it down for 90 seconds, no dice. I tried pressing it briefly afterwards too just in case.
I think Roebeet and a few others had a similar issue. I believe they had to wait 24+ hours for the battery to drain. I can't find the thread but the search button may help
You didn't update the firmware, correct? This is a known issue with the older firmware and it's happened to me.
I believe that the device is frozen - and yes, when it gets in that state you cannot reset it, even when holding down the power button. You have two choices, when this happens:
1- Open up the back of the device (and thus voiding the warranty) and press the reset button on the system board. That will fix it immediately. I know this probably isn't the best option, but I wanted to mention it.
2- Unplug the device and wait for the battery to completely drain. This takes about 24 hours. Once drained, you can press the power button and it will boot up for 10-15 seconds before stopping - that's your queue that the device is "fixed" so you can start re-charging it.
Fortunately, this probably seems to be resolved on newer firmware, tmk. I've only had this happen on a device with the original stock firmware.
The two of you are gentlemen and scholars. I'll let you know how it turns out. I was on the phone to get the RMA when the line went all fuzzy and I couldn't talk to them. Then it did the same thing when I called back. Then I saw this post. Divine Intervention...
Going on 28 hours now and still nothing...I'll probably give it at least 3 days before I send it back.
Give it a few more hours, and then plug it in for a minute and try powering it up. the battery could be so drained at this point that it needs to be plugged in to go on.
Mine took 24 hours to drain, but I wasn't sure if it was at 100% charged, at the time.
Almost to the 48 hours mark and still nothing. I tried plugging it in briefly just to check and the red light still comes on, but it won't power up. Anyone know the possible standby time of a fully charged batter on these things? I was thinking if the system locked up and it isn't hardly doing anything, it could last a while...
Maybe a return to the store you purchased it from at this point. The battery should be dead by now. You should be able to get an exchange or you can try the other route Roebeet suggested but that will definitely void your warranty

The problem is that I'm in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Shipping time is at least 2 weeks and sears won't do an advance replacement. Neither will the Viewsonic support folks. So I'm either stuck having to buy a second one and waiting for them to get the original back before the refund, or waiting a month or more for a repair...
Are there any seals inside the case that get broken if you open it?
I don't know the answer but this may be of some help

I think I'm just going to give it anther day then send it in for repair.
Still nothing. Since its going to be over a month before I get a replacement, I'm just going to return it and wait for the new crop of tablets to come out. Thanks for the help guys.

Sorry to hear that. I think the reset button on the board would have worked, but I understand why you wouldn't want to open the device up. We shouldn't have to void our warranty to be able to do a hard reset.

But was your friend's responding at all? I get absolutely nothing. the only thing the tablet does is give me a red light when it's charging and a green light when it's done. The power button does nothing and volume down + power does nothing. doesn't nvflash require a connection over USB before it can do anything?
Once, i was halfway using whatsapp then phone turned off automatically, when I turn it back on i was able to boot up past the bootscreen until i got this: Refer to Picture 003.jpg
Then I did a complete reset via CWM. I even installed CNA 3.6.6 (I was using 3.5.0 before this)
Still no avail, do I've decided to flash back to 4.0.4 to see whether things are working out or not.
I did it via fastboot.
Same thing.
What could be the problem?
Do take note that even though in the picture I'm booting it up in safe mode but still no avail for normal mode.
And, when I'm charging my phone with the power switched off I'm getting this: Refer to Picture 004.jpg
Supposedly it's a battery icon that indicates charging activity but I'm getting a battery icon with (blinking) exclamation mark.
What's wrong?

Gonna try it soon as soon as my friend is with me. Anyways, the picture I've attached shows the shutting down popup.
When it first occured(and for the next few times)it's without the popup and i can't even pull down my notifications window. BUT the 4 buttons worked. they responded by vibrating.

warning! TL; DR post about what happened to my phone.
I've left my phone (accidentally) under heavy rain for almost an hour.
By the time I got my phone back it's still working, but with a (kinda) faulty loudspeaker.
Others went a-okay.
I turned off and let it stay put for everything inside to dry up then charge. Realized that I can't charge at all. I can't even connect to computer or whatnot. So I brought it to a service center. They told me it's mobo issue and I've decided not to fix it (cause my warranty's over)
That day when I brought it back from service center, miraculously I can charge my phone! was happy at first then I kept on charging. Then story continues as first post.

i bought my nexus from a man for 25$ because it wasnt able to charge and when u turned it on it just went stuck on the motion starting picture.
so i went to a technician and he told me to buy the usb port , i found the original port for nexus s on ebay, so he fixed it...
since then i am able to charge it (with a exclamation sign if its off) and i have even intalled every rom i have found here, via odin/fastboot/CWM, etc. but nothing... so it keeps on stucked on the starting picture, sometimes just SOMETIMES it went up like yours, *going up and saying/showing Android System icon, batterymetter on the upper part of the screen, middle screen; saying power off, shutting down, after some secs, vibrates and goes OFF.
only with slimbeam i got that behavior always turn it on.
p.s. the USB port was unable because phone have been wet (from the other owner hands)...
one thing, make sure the battery contact points are clean i know its dumb but it could help

Nexus S i9023 Android 4.1.2 Update
Yesterday i got OTA update 4.1.2 in my Nexus S i9023 in India. But after restarting the system for installation for some reason the update was not done. After hard booting the device when it logs on, it was showing 4.1.1. But when i am checking whether any system update is there, it is showing no update. How to get it again ????
Hey all, I just got through with this hurricane sandy business and now I find my phone not working at all. First off I'd like to say that there is no water damage to this phone and it is NOT rooted. The problem is that it just won't turn on at all, and won't charge when I try to charge the device. The day before I charged the phone and it worked fine. I can provide more details if needed but I need to find a solution to this.
Did it run down on battery completely before it did this? You might need to charge it for a bit before it turns on. Also, see if you can get your hands on a spare battery to see if it's the battery's problem. I would also try removing the battery and putting it back just to make sure it wasn't jostled loose.

Two days ago I completely let the battery drain on its own because it was draining faster than usual and I was using it very minimally due to the lack of phone signal during the power outage. And yesterday I charged it until it was 100% in the morning and at night I charged it again until 100%. Before I went to bed, I turned off my phone and it was 90% and when I turned it on in the morning it was at 77% (which I thought was weird since the phone was not even on). Now the phone will not work at all. I took the battery out and everything. I even tried turning the phone on while trying to charge it (but it would not charge). The only feedback I got was that it vibrated when I tried turning it on this afternoon and after that was nothing. (it would either get stuck at the AT&T bootup part or I would get no display at all)

Nothing I can think of. It was fully charged by 9PM the other night and shut off before I went to bed. Next morning the batter is nearly halfway drained for no apparent reason. I think I will get another battery to test.
Also I let the battery sit out of the phone for a few days now and the phone still does not work.

Get a hold of a charged battery, then after 1 hour with no battery in the device, replace the battery remove the SD-Card and the SIM-Card, replace all covers. Reboot your PC and go to firewall tab in the control panel and turn of your firewalls, then reboot your PC, then using USB data cable not a charging cable.. with your device being OFF conect to a USB connection in the back of your PC, if it's a laptop use the one next to the intranet connection. Then wait about 1min. If nothing happwned, hold the volume down button then press and release the power button. if nothing happened, hold the volume up then press and release the power button. If nothing happened do the samething this time by holding both up and down volume buttons. If nothing happened with your device connected to the PC go to MY Computer tab right click on C>Properties then go to tools click on check disc tab check mark both options then restart your PC. Before windows tour OS starts, your PC will go through a self check. let it do its thing. it takes a couple of hours. then after its down check to see if it has seen your device. if not then do procedures above once again. GOOD LUCK.

Okay so I finally got it to turn on but in order to charge it, the phone must be turned off for some reason. Also, the touch screen is not working, even after I did a hard reset and erased all my data. I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue or a software issue because the display is working fine.

That same thing happened to a friend of mine. She took it to a technician tho and they sorted it out for her.
Hello every one, this just my first post here, but I have been follow the forum very very close since some days ago thanks to Mustaavalkosta and his new CyanogenMod Rom here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533007&page=283.
I am having a similar problem with my HTC Inspire, here is my story. I bought it like it a year ago, the first thing I do was to rooted with AAHK and install CyanoyenMod cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-ace. Everything works just fine till a couple of months ago. One night I just leave my Inspire and go to sleep, the next morning I wasn't able to turn on, not charging, not turn on. Was not the battery because my brother has another Inspire and I check with his battery. I just leave the phone without the battery and Sim and SD for a day and them come back again, but at next day the same occurs. I try all that time, vol down+power. voldown+volup, every convination but nothing works. So I decide to dissensambly my phone... in the process I broke the ribbon flex cable http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-Desire-HD-Inspire-4G-Camera-Socket-Keypad-Membrane-PBC-Ribbon-Flex-Cable-/320925341841?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4ab8a41891 The phone was in parts on my table like a month till I was able to buy and recieve the ribbon (I live in Colombia). Finally the ribbon arrives 3 days ago, so I assembled the phone again and...magic! the phone turns on. My next step was install the Mustaavalkosta Rom that I mentioned before.... but, yesterday, my phone was dead again. So a try all steps again, put out the battery, Sim and Sd... and again try all the combinations of buttons, but nothing works... So I do it again: dissensably again my phone: Only disconnecting the display doesn't works... I have to disconect the display and the ribbon cable, assembled again and just turn on again.... Now I am waiting for the next black out...
I know is a weird behavior, but may be some one can point me in some direction to fix it.. I am not a developer or anything like that, but I like to investigate and solve problems... any help will be wonderful.
Cheers!
PD: I dont have any apps installed, just trying the Rom as it is.
PD: The next time it happens I will try the niavaran advises.
Hello people, first off lemme say I'm not necessarily new to this forum, I for sure have used it a hell of a lot in the past and I know roughly what goes on around here, I've recently created my account in order for me to actually be able to be able to plead for the amazing help the XDA is known for.
Anyway, long story short, I don't know what the hell happened, but allow me to start from the beginning. I went on a camping weekend with my OPO, phone worked flawlessly all weekend and lasted the whole time, everything was fab, went back to a mates house and asked if I could borrow his phone charger (He has a Lumia 625 incase anyone was wondering), we then went out shooting and I left the phone there for a few hours to charge. Came back to it and it was fully charged, but had turned itself off? Because it was on the power off charge screen when I came back to it, and was on lock when I left it, nobody touched it in that time. I took it off charge, powered the phone up and it must of boot looped about 3 times? Eventually it got into CM but there was no lockscreen, went straight to the homescreen. This is where it went nasty, the capacitive keys outright weren't responding, the device wasn't slow as such, nor was the CPU running hot or doing anything intensive (I have CPU load display enabled), but the date was set to Jan 1970, and the phone couldn't pull a signal at all. WiFi outright wouldn't switch on either. So I tried rebooting it a few times, to no prevail. For some reason, I accidentally tapped Bluetooth in the quick settings panel, the phone crashed and rebooted, and wouldn't stay on for more then 3 seconds? Before crashing and rebooting. I've since gone into recovery and tried a factory reset, cleared cache and media too, but to no luck. Phone still doesn't stay on for more than about 3 seconds once it actually gets into CM (The welcome to CM screen, it crashes 3 sec immediately after boot).
I have no idea what I'm supposed to do, can anyone try shed some light on this? Much help would be appreciated and I sincerely APOLOGISE for the wall of text. Many thanks.
^Dat wall of text doe (sorry about that)

I am having the same issue since last night. Put my phone to charge and when I picked it up it stayed on for about a minute unable to connect to Wifi or cellular signal. Then it went to a crazy boot loop. Wiped cache, media and at the end data. Now it boots and it stays on for a few seconds and reboots. I will try the solution when I get home tonight but I was just curious if it worked for you.
Hi, i have an s6 (non edge), i do have it insured so not sure if i would be best trying to get it swapped or see how it goes?
I have had no problems up to now, been using it most of the day fine, the last time i looked at my phone was probaby about 30 mins before this happened and it had about 75% battery.
before i took my phone out my pocket and it was completely off, i kept pushing the power button in and getting no response at all, i plugged the phone into the mains and nothing happened, no charge light etc..
So i just left it connected to the mains with nothing happening for about 15 mins, then out the blue i pressed the power button in again and it come on, at it was starting i noticed it said android is updating an app (as it does when you have just installed a new fw) but this was only for 1 app by the looks, i hadn't installed anything new i can think of, not sure if thats related or not important?
Anyway my phone seems ok at the moment but now im not sure if i should just take it back the shop and get it changed seems i have it insured anyway, the phone is around 3 months old now.
Sorry, i am just editing this, i have just remembered one main point which i forgot i done earlier when reading that it can help your phone, i did go into dev options and i changed the 'limit background processes to 4' as i read this can help it, not sure if this was a bad idea?
Any advice?
Thanks
James
Possibly a defective battery.
