App optimization - T-Mobile LG G2x

Sometimes my phone is a little sluggish when opening apps. Do apps need to be optimized for dual core phones?

How to troubleshoot for apps?

i installed lot of apps.
one of the apps is using lot of cpu..and is causing the phone to lag crazily...how do i find which app is using maximum resources?
Either download "SpareParts" from the Market or use the built in battery monitor
Settings - About Phone - Battery Use
EDIT: Sorry I misread, I thought you meant which app was using the most battery, not CPU.

imagine running a heavy game such Crysis on your PC..and minimize it.
and now try to do other normal tasks.... notice how laggy and slow your pc becomes?
same is happening to my X10 since i installed tons of new apps..some important ..some useless.
will try spareparts

hw acceleration

As you know our android devices did not use that from the beginning to the ics. Our devices was not smooth as iPhone coz it didnt use gpu instead of cpu in transitions as i hear. But ics uses hw acceleration and it is smooth on even i9000. Now i ask you, is it possible to port hw accelaleration to our gingerbread devices as a mod or tweak?
Ps: i am a noob about these things for now sorry if i am wrong but i said these as i understood

It's not true.
1. We have acceleration. But this is not requirement. IE developers can use hw acceleration and can not use it. For iPhone they should use only accelerated API.
2. In iPhone the user interface process has realtime priority. When user made some action, all background processes stopped and only process processed user action will work: try open some page in browser and while it is loading try to move the screen. The loading will stopped. In Android UI process is usual process. When you will move the page in browser it will continue loading the page. But because not all CPU used for work with UI process it can be lesser smooth than iPhone one
It's just different logic of UI. That's all.

Ya but I have used iphone 4. And believe me guys our phone looks really a piece of crap infront of iphone. Its really smooth like silk. Our phone lag like hell when we want to do some heavy multi tasking (only 3-4 apps). But with nearly 11 open apps still iphone run so much smooth. I accept that its not open source bla bla bla...but remember guys still android has to learn a lot to reach level of smoothness of iphone.
The advantages of Android will be on multicore CPUs. This is because of logic. While one core will be executing UI process, others will execute other processes. On IOS all other processes will be frozen

That tends to happen when you have 3-4 processing apps and compare it to 11 frozen apps. Try having a few apps idle in the background on the i9003 and it's smooth as silk too.
Are you sure about GPU ? I don't think our i9003 use that.
A made a test : Opera mobile is the best browser ever because of he uses GPU acceleration. And the GPU acceleration is so awesome wich some big websites are more smooth in i9003 than iphone 4. If all the UI use the GPU, I don't think the phone laggy.

I am agree with Ryryoku, the smoothness of opera mini/mobile gives as same experience as we get in iPhone , so i think his point is valid, this is the reason why Opera is smoother than any other browser of android...

[Discuss] how to make xperia devices more faster

When we search internet for how to make android or xperia devices more faster then we see the following tips mostly on every third site.
1) Reduce animation scale
2) Remove unused widgets on home screen.
3) Don't use live wallpapers, use static wallpapers.
4) Clean your cache by using clean master app or any other cache cleaner app.
5) Clean your ram by Ram cleaner app. eg. NQ Android booster or you can use other app according to your taste.
6) Restart your device once in a day to clear ram.
7) Use third party home launchers eg. Nova and Apex launchers.
8) Move apps to internal storage to clear phone memory.
9) Delete useless apps from your device.
10) Don't update stock apps which you are not using because it fulls your device memory.
If you have rooted phone, then delete all those useless stock apps which you are not using.
By following above tips we can observe some improvements in the performance of our device.
But some people also claim that by rooting/unlocking bootloader they observe more lags in their device performance and on the other hand, some people say that their device performance become better after rooting.
Now in this thread we can discuss some more tips and tweaks which are helpful in increasing our xperia devices performance.
If you know any trick and tweak that make our devices more faster then you can share that trick in this thread.
1. Change Your stock kernel to another, and change governor (Try and pick the best of You I recommend pegasusq or SmartassH3)
2. Install Pure Performance Golden Edition mod (way faster)
3. Use Seeder (reduce lag)
4. Uninstall unused apps like Timescape, Google maps etc. (More space in system = better)
5. Remove unnecessary language in the keyboard are not using (More space in system = better)
6. Change launcher witch is lighter
Optional
Odex Your rom
Install The New Pure Audio 2.0 (it don't speed up your phone but You here difference in sound)
Mine:
1. Delete some system app (Google+ .....)
2. Use Greenify to hibernate some apps if they are running in background
3. Use XBooster to free more RAM
4. Use another kernel, mine is Intuisy Kernel
Sent from my ST23i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
1.Greenify is your friend
2.Use slim rom and the slimmest gapps possible
3.Remove useless apps
4.Overclock it.
Overclock to 1.3 Ghz, Governor: OndemandX and I/O Scheduler: Sio
Remove all bloatware from system/app
Remove all useless and unnecessary apps and widgets
Supercharge, Crossbreeder
Odex

@DanielFlorin, Odexed is faster than Deodexed...it is not a theory but a fact ^-^, it's alot harder to theme tho compared to deodexed.
Also delete some bloat apps in System/App such as SocialEngineCore.apk and the like
Delete the Weather and Youtube app if theyre not going to be used

I was using this option long time ago and it doesn't boost anything. It's better to just remove rubbish.
Also it's good to avoid having total mess on the SD card and internal memory. I make total cleaning every few months.

Check for background apps and launchers taking up too much RAM, use Nova instead of the stock one if it's running a copy of TouchWiz as that may take up a lot.
Free ram is waste ram. The point is your device should not lag. That only happens when you totally run out of ram. I would suggest you to use greenify for hibernating useless apps. It will save both your battery and ram.
Huh...
I think you should uninstall some wasting apps.
Here is photo of installed apps...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qulefw25zokguxn/Screenshot_2014-10-08-20-27-01.png?dl=0
And I always stop some apps in app manager..
And sometimes is lag felt...usually when I return to Home screen...

Disabling System Apps And Bloatware - Performance

Hi there,
I just bought a Sony Xperia E5 (F3311).
This device can't be rooted (yet) and there's no custom recovery available for it, so I can't just remove system apps.
I'd like to know if disabling system apps or pre-installed bloatware in settings will have any effects?
Will there be any difference in the performance of a device? If yes, will it get slower or faster?
Thanks in advance,
Marvin

Performance issue, NOPE
U can see a little performance improvement as some of these apps run in background and consume ram.
It can do allot, free up memory and space. My Xperia XA, became much more smoother after I disabled unneeded apps.
