Quadrant: 1st 3d test low framerate? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I've noticed that all the 3d tests get very high framerates around 60fps or higher except for the first one, which gets 18-19 fps. Does anyone know why?
P.S. my mytouch 4g gets around 18fps on the 1st 3d test so the g2x should definitely be getting much higher frame rate for that test.

I only did it once. Got 80 fps

are you talking about neocore? because thats around the score people are getting for neocore.
But for quadrant on the 1st of the 4 3d tests people(including myself) are only getting about 18-19 fps on that test, which seems outlandish since most other phones that have older less powerful gpu's can get the same frame rate on that test

no problem. Anybody know why? I'm stumped.

could this be related to the tegra 2 chipset? it seems the atrix also gets low framerate for the 1st 3d test while the sgsII gets a capped 60fps on that same test with a different chipset

Bad quadrant scores

I have recently purchased my g2x and even though it seems fast it post really bad quadrant scores on all of the different quadrant test. On the benchmark test it was up to 2400 no can't get past 1300. Does this mean one of the processors went out.

Quadrant Standard sucks for benchmarks. It is inconsistent and gives odd scores, like the time I scored 24000 with my ZIO.... yeah right, this phone is lucky to hit 1080 with our new overclocked kernel
Use AnTutu Benchmark and you should get more consistent scores.

Does the phone feel laggy during normal use? If not I wouldn't wory too much about quadrant scores. Try running a Linpack benchmark. Your score should be in the low 30's.
No it feels like its running great just really low scores all around. Im getting about 18 on linpqck

Yeah i'm experiencing the same thing can't even get past 2000 and when i check quadrant about phone option it says i have one core pretty sure no one screwed up my phone when they shipped it... T__T
I think peoples experiences with Quadrant seem to vary a great deal. I tend to get pretty consistent results from it.

Nenamark 2 is out, and the sgs2 smokes us

Why?i thought we had the better gpu? In reading the galaxy 2 is in the 40s stock, and I got 25fps not overclocked... I guess I could try the test at 1.2 ghz but that wouldn't put me in the 40s...
So how come the sgs2 beats the g2x by a lot when were supposed to have a better gpu? Sensation gets what we get and it has way more pixels...

there is no standard across the different chips... some gpu's can produce shapes or run executions that other chips cannot... try playing monopoly classic on your g2x... you cant because it requires a snapdragon chip to produce certain textures a certain way yet our phones are way more powerful than the mt4g which runs the game fine...
this is also why companies like gameloft have to produce different versions of their games for different phones... its next to impossible to accurately benchmark phones yet...

Hes right.theres a video where they both play 1080p in the browser and g2x skips and the sgs2 plays beautifully..
That's because the SGS2 supports the NEON instruction set, which accelerates video decoding. The latest Flash Player takes advantage of this and uses the phone's GPU to accelerate decoding Flash video. The Tegra 2 doesn't support NEON, so it has to be done using the phone's CPU, which is why it's choppy.

[Q] Getting "upgraded" to a Galaxy S

So I currently have a T-Mobile MyTouch 4G that I really like, I have Cyanogen Mod 7.0.3 running on it, and I get great battery life. I have some dust under the glass, so I called T-Mobile and they said that they would happily exchange it, but that they don't have the MyTouch 4G and that they will "upgrade" me to the Samsung Galaxy S. Looking at the forums it doesn't seem like there is much development for these phones. Should I tell T-Mobile that I want a different phone? or are there custom ROMS that I can run on the Galaxy S? I really like the 16 or so hours of battery life I currently get, plus how fast the phone is. Thanks.
Sgs4g is about the same speed.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
The phones are about the same speed but the mytouch4g has 768 mb of ram and the sgs4g onlu has 514... The mytouch 4g also is rated higher on quadrant. But imo the sgs4g is gear more for adults. They are still developing roms. The only one I know of that is actually stable is the deodexed stock kd1 by whitehawxx. There will be alot more soon especially now that drhonk has gotten the test sgs4g.

U dont have to lie the sgs4g gets MUCH better framerates if thats what you were asking...for some reason the quadrant scores arent as high but I can assure you that the hummingbird has a much better graphics card than the snapdragon plus it has a little bit bigger screen so I think that it is a bit of an upgrade and when it does start getting more custom roms it will just be the super phone that it should be

To infuse or not to infuse?

Currently using and loving my dell streak just curiouse how you infuse goers are enjoying your experience and Dec support Hearing the device Is smooth and it looks to have good support already. Curious about the current roms and what to expected from each, from reviews the infuse averages 1100 to 1300 on quadrant which is OK I guess I get around 2200 on my streak , just curious of the infuses speed on custom roms vs. Stock.
I'm asking because I have an upgrade and would enjoy a phone with good Dev suppprt

don't put too much faith in benchmarks. fun to compare but otherwise should be left to fine tuning settings and finding a devices strengths and weaknesses for figuring out how to best exploit its power for things like game programming . it has little relevance to every day activities.
the lowish benchmark numbers come from the slow file system and the somewhat poor floating point performance. I don't know how much floating point you run on you device (crunching numbers) but being that these processors have dedicated fpu's it is not a general measure of performance. qualcomm just has a better fpu. samsung has the best gpu. play h.264 movies @1080p on both devices and see which fairs better! with 2.3.3 the video decoding gets even faster increasing quadrant score by up to 1000 points as seen on my captivate beating even the xoom tablet with a score of over 3000 which is just as irrelevant as the infuse/streak quadrant comparison.
I might even skip the SGS2. Loving the phone and the big screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
I also came from the Streak. The screen and camera quality are enough for me to never look back.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
And another convert here. Very happy with the phone. Only thing I'm missing is the little extra screen size.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
I absolutely love my Infuse. The one thing that bothered me for about 5 days was the relatively low DPI of the screen, but between LCD Density tweaks and a new font... and perhaps just allowing my eyes to get used to it, I never notice the pixelation that plagued me at first.
EDIT: Oh, and to me the SGS2 would be a downgrade. Dual-core procs don't make up for a smaller screen.
If you're coming from the Dell Streak to the Infuse, not much difference except slightly faster processor and 1/2 an inch smaller screen. Battery life is the same. Samsung has it's Touch Whiz on top of android. However, rooting and unlocking this phone was easy.
Why would u compare quadrant from a stock infuse to a modded streak? Pointless.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Ya i know my quadrant scores are pretty irrelevant even with my scores im sure the infuse is much smoother and faster even with lower scores? I think i might stop by my at&t store and check 1 out

Not true. The Infuse's screen is superior to the Dell Streak's and so is the camera.

Quadrant Scores

My Skyrocket gets way higher quadrant scores than a friend of mine's OGS2.
3500vs3100
Yet... On every visual test he gets 20fps MORE than I do? Why is his score lower? the phone feels faster than mine.
Thoughts?
Overall I found the OGS2 to be smoother with the animations, etc.
Graphic tests (2D and 3D) are only some parts from the overall Quadrant test (CPU, Memory, I/O, Graphic). If you're using Quadrant Advanced, you could see scores from each test performed.
What if you try other benchmark app such as Antutu ? You'll get more detailed result.

I was shocked to see the results. but in "3d" test, the S2 simply blew the SR out of the water.
And the OS itself seemed more fluid than the skyrocket.

Strange Observation
Today I received my replacement SR from Amazon and I ran few Quadrant tests and was constantly getting 3000+ score, with highest being 3360. Without installing anything else I just rooted the phone with Easy Root and then re-ran Quadrant test few times and did not get 3000+ score even once. The best I got was 2500. All other scores were between 2200 - 2300.
Any idea why rooting the phone can cause this drop? I also noticed that after rooting, the phone does not feel as snappy as stock.
