Where the Roms at???? It feels like when Frank Lukas got locked up no good shyt in the streets lol
I think every one is waiting for CM7 so they can take that and modify it. It sould be soon though.
Im having rom Withdrawals too I swear i installed a new rom on my nexus one at least once a week.
Now that we have root and a recovery, we should see time and kernels any day now.

Okay, I admit, I am a little gun shy about flashing a custom ROM... I just came from a G1. I had no fear, I was flashing everything I could get my hands on to find the fastest and least laggy set up I could find. Sometimes things were great, sometimes not so much(all better than stock, i assume)... but there were nights that I was reflashing multiple times just to get it back stable enough to be usable again.
Now I have the G2x and I LOVE it. Mine was so quick and stable right out of the box that I don't want to lose that... I know I could make it quicker and more user friendly. Part of me wants to wait to see what happens when the OTA update comes out... annnnd part of me wants to flash away(I am all rooted and have CWM going and Tweezit's Dark sinister is poised and just a button press away)...
maybe I should start off small and try faux's stock kernel... but the whole undervolt thing is lost on me...
could use a little talking into or out of flashing now...
do it!!!!!! flash fauxs now!!!! u need to flash rite now what are u waiting for click the button now!!!!! lol nah listen bro i kinda felt the same way u did fauxs kernels are top notch really the only ones i wasnt having problems with morfics are awesome to but im pretty sure he does that for better battery life n stability .....good stuff
so did i talk u into it, or out of it???
In to... But stupid questions first... If the kernel doesn't work for me... Is there a way to flash back the crappy stock kernel? And what under voltage settings should I be looking at?
Thanks

question1, thats y u make a backup of stock this way if u dnt like anything u can restore back, n 2 its undervolted across the bored -50 i think u will most def get battery life with the kernel vs stock n like i sd if u dont like it u can restore ur backup ,to backup go into cwm power dwn n vol dwn n scroll down to backup and restore and hit backup
wait assuming u installed cwm with nvflash then do last part
Of course I did...no fake flash for me... So just so I am clear... I did a nandroid back up this morning... If the new kernel doesn't work out for me the back up will get me back? Last question...does the same hold true for ROMS as well? If I flash bionix and I want to go back to stock will my nandroid get me there? THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE... I should have been a computer science major... I realized waaaay to late that I love this stuff... I am learning as I go...

lol no prob man n yes if u restore back to ur stock nandroid it will be exactly how it was before u backed it up kernel and all so u can stick fauxs rom on there and his kernel if u dont like it go into recov and erase data and cache and hit restore backup n u r back to stock....and if u want to make a backup of the new rom u put on do that too u will just have two backups the new rom and stock.........have fun flashing
Awesome! The button has been pushed! Somewhere my wife just cried out... She won't know why untill she gets home and I am sitting in front of the computer with a bag of chips ahoy and a mr pib...

Yeah ive been kinda shy too. even though not only did i flash a ton of roms i developed one. but that was on the droid. by the time i started it was pretty clear you just couldnt brick the thing
but im past my 2 weeks so no return now. and this one does seem to work so maybe thius weekend
I say go for it... It took barely any arm twisting from sarni84 for me to jump blindly into the abyss. Faux's kernel is great...
I can already feel my refresh finger getting twitchy...updates...uuuuupdates...

Honestly dude, I'd wait a little bit before starting to flash ROMs on the g2x. Development is fairly new, and everything is still pretty buggy. I've had to do like 3 or 4 battery pulls today alone and it's not very practical for daily use. If you're happy with the stock ROM, do yourself a favor and keep it. Keep up to date on the ROM development, though, and in due time, they'll be more stable and you'll have a better experience. I had my phone rooted and a new ROM flashed within the first hour I bought the phone. I haven't had much time to really enjoy it since I jumped right into custom development. When the bugs start appearing and stop me from using my phone to its maximum capability, I start to question that decision. Just my personal opinion on the matter.
Where were you 8 hours ago? Lol...that's exactly why I have only flashed faux's kernel... So far... I am going to stay in a holding pattern for the time being... best of both worlds...

I held off. The phone is good now but the real stable stuff will come after the gingerbread release.
Themes and battery life aside there is no reason or need to flash a rom yet on this phone.
It is pretty open and you can do most everything you need to out the box.
I'm waiting for gingerbread. If that doesn't suite me I'll wait for the gb roms.
Source roms. Full source. I mean.
And I'd only do it to theme. I do alot with my phone.
I trip out a lot of android users with my phones.
Vets.
And I do it all stock. You just gotta know how, and where, and you can do some amazing things.
And it is like pringles.

Well not to play devils advocate but I've been flashing CM since the first nightly. I haven't loaded any custom kernels aside what comes with CM7.
I have jumped around the board a few times but always landed back to CyanogenMod.
While stock worked well for me, and CM7 is not a stable release, it has provided several fixes and benefits over stock. I've been running the last #34 build and it honestly works pretty good. Their server died, so you'll have to use Fitsnuggly's Gigglebread KANG for anything more recent then that.
CM7 = Wiimote + HDMI Out = Win
Honestly, I would do a Nandroid of stock and go for it. Worst case you restore back to stock and continue your life. Best case you never go back.
Is it me or has development slow down a bit! It seems it started out strong and lately we haven't seen much aside from Faux and CM updating their ASOP roms.
I mean we don't really have any themers either! I know if I could I would make some!
Coming from the Vibrant there was a lot of themes and dev going on!
Now I know it's been less than two months, but the way it started out I thought we would have more going on!
I guess maybe everyone is waiting on the GB update when ever we get it!
...
we waiting 2.3
gonna be here on 06/16/11
I hope GB gets here on 6/16 that would be the best B-day present I could get lol
I have a replacement unit coming the 22nd, I hope it comes with 2.3 already in it!
...
There are lots of themes. CM7 uses T-Mobile themes and they are downloadable in the market.
No reason to mod stock unless you install the cm theme support.
LG G2x CM7 2.3.4
couple things.
waiting for the gingerbread source from lg to insure everything needed will work. and dont want to release a rom at this point where i cant tell if reboots , wifi, 4g(whre it shuts down than takes a while to start again), as well as gps.
when these features are working on the phone as should than ill start the rom, but no care to spend days trying to figure out why something doesnt work when its the darn baseband that i cant mess with.
themes. the theming engine has taken over unfortunately. it does theme and is a lot easier for the themers(after they learn it) since 1 theme works on all roms. but its just not like the old days where every app was themed and such. some have taken time to write scripts and such so they can make a better more inclusive theme with it , but most of the themes for it are color changes and icons not full themes with every app themed as we were use to . I know several of the themes that are on my rom for the droid would never be able to be as complete through the theming engine. but it does ok just different. and does enable many more themes available to all roms. and its not like a this or that themes can still be made the old way. but with the old way you need to update the theme with every new build(framework) of the rom so since these roms are in constant change at this point i dont think many are spending time theming it. especially froyo.
Honestly I can't speak for everyone but I have to many projects going on and I don't want to release buggy roms to you guys. I have not stopped working but I would love to see 2.3 drop as it would be (hopefully) more stable in general as they had time to get the bugs out.
Look at it like this the more time we have to spend working on battery drivers the less time we have making good roms. LG did not tell even close to the truth as this was supposed to be a true google experience (MY ASS IT IS) so we already had to spend countless hours removing BS they left it from the O2X.
Anyways look for more stuff soon I am sure as currenlty I am working on my rom again and I know of other hidden stuff getting done. (sorry can't say what all it is yet)
Later.

i was gonna do a quick port of my rom for my own use but when i looked at the source code for g2x froyo-- it appears al they did was remove the instruction sets for the overlay of the o2x all that crud is in the framework and elsewhere and just seemed like to much hassle, so waiting for the gb and hopfully a more stable driverset and baseband.
or keep the life i actaully have now that was non existant for the 9 months i developed for the droid 1
maybe ill just leave it up to you

Personally I say the more the merrier as I really do care about the end users. I hope to see more people jump in even if it is only a rom modded by adding removing a few things as everyone has to start somewhere.
Anyone can use my rom as a base all I ask is some credit or atleast send me a pm.
And I will always try to answer any questions as long as I got the time
too true

more options are good.
my rom was called sourcery so it kinda had to be from source
i am not with the co0developer of that anymore so id have to comeup with another cool name. but still rather do from source than others base , but might use lg gb as a base if they release it.(hopefully without all the o2x crud) or let us make use of it 1 or the other.
but yeah all the initial launch build was is a o2x froyo themed rom.
have you played around with the animated pull down stuff. looks kinda cool and on the g2x it shouldnt hurt performance much. kinda something new.
I would love to see another rom made from source. I have been working on a 2.2 from source but not even close to being release ready as buggier then crap
Anyways I am sure the crack flashers would love another rom to try out
2.2.2

2.2.2 i think is not as stable as 2.2.1 i lost 200 on quandrant with it not sure why but from 2.2.1 same rom same mods.
Over all its ok. i released the 2.2.2 rom 3 days after the source was released. did a serious rebuild from scratch since i was about ready to release the 2.2.1
i remember i had a couple bugs i had to figure out that werent on 2.2.1 but i forget what they were .
you have any questions or need a little help drop me a pm.
ill help where i can.
this is a link to my rom since i think only people on verizon have ever heard of it

@tweezit I for one appreciate all the work you guys put into supporting this phone. I know it takes a lot of time and hard work. If seems some of us are impatient it's only because we are. Seriously, you are making a great device better and I thank you for it.
@Eagle1967 Just checked your Rom out and I would love to see a port...really slick stuff there...great app inclusions and love the blue/black theme.
I'm wading into this myself...been playing around with it but any kind of release is at least a couple month away...if ever. Really makes me appreciate what you guys do.
thanks

when i started i knew nothing. i started in august last year was late september before i actaully got my first build that completed and installed and ran and first release was on christmas so took a long time but i started with no knowlege of any of it. still not always sure what i do to make it work it just does
yeah it took 9 months of my life part of the reason i stopped(part ).. but it was fun and made me feel like i accomplished something. i cant believe how popular the rom still is since i havent really done anything with it since febuary but it was the first custom rom with froyo 2.2.2 and actually was for quite a while until some gave up on gingerbread and went back i think there is still only 1 other 2.2.2 rom for the droid though.
if you have any questions feel free to pm me. ill help you out if i can.
Ok dont mean to discredit the developers of the roms we already have I came from the samsung vibrant and I flashed a new updated themed rom daily are we going to see some new updated roms in the near future

The Gingerbread update is supposed to drop very soon for the G2x, so all the devs are waiting for the new codebase to come out so they don't waste time trying to improve the crappy Gingerbread leak that came out a month or two ago.
Don't worry, stuff will pick up soon. Until then, install a good Froyo ROM (I like EagleBlood Froyo 1.04).
Ok cool thanks I will sit tight this phone is so fast lol

Is it stable? Notice any better battery life on it? Will be my first time installing a ROM, want to make sure I do it correctly.
(Yes I have backups)
Like the title states. I just got the Sensation a couple of days ago and I am trying my hardest to not flash it pending the release of ICS. Thoughts? Is it worth it?
not really. You will probably get ICS way before HTC releases it if you use a custom ROM, and now that I am running CM7 on my sensation, I can never see myself going back to HTC sense. It is massively faster, and if you flash a custom ROM, you certainly will not regret it.
Ya, I used to flash roms on my Vibrant every 2 days. I just don't see as many devs working on the Sensation as there used to be.
I personally like Sense. Maybe just because it's new to me, but it suits my needs nicely for the time being.
made the plunge!
does anyone find them selfs flashing their phone for no aperent reason i do it once a week at least think i may be addicted and have nothing better to do
Yeah many of us do that. I haven't flashed in 5 days but I'm afraid to go back to gingerbread due to ICS's 15% instant battery increase. I can't wait for stable ics releases.
haha i stopped that a while ago. I am stuck to a single Rom for nearly two weeks now and i dont have any bad feelings.
im flashing the same rom over and over again just for the fun of it
I used to do much more when I had the Hero and ZTE Blade.
Since I got an Acer Liquid Metal I changed to flashing every few weeks or so. And since I got the Sensation I've stuck to ARHD 6.0
seriuosly.... the same over and over again???? dude maybe if u like flashing that much u should vary a bit. or do u need the adrenaline kick, cause something could go wrong^^
dont know i just like to mess about with my phone see what i can do to i with out bricking it
Coming from blackberry I was excited to flash all sorts of ROMS, and I did for a while.
Now I am busy at work, and I just can't bring myself to leave the stability of InsertCoin 3.4.6. Even though I am excited for IceCreamSandwich, I am nervous about flashing beta firmware.
