Hello everyone
i have a nexus s 9023
and i had a root on my device .. and i back to original rom " by rom manager .. " everything is ok .. but after back to original rom .. i lost root !!
> when I'm reboot my phone .. i see the logo " open lock " .. > i think this logo mean " my device root "
and if i want to install other rom " by rom manager " i can't !!
Any budy can help me ? "" I'm Noob "
"open lock" just means your phone's bootloader is unlocked, it doesnt necessarily mean you're rooted.. how did you go back to original rom? go back to the sticky thread about rooting and download the su.zip and flash it in clockwork recovery

You should come over into our device forums for more help. You have to install a custom recovery before going into recovery mode. Install ROM Manager from the market then in the app select the flash recovery image option.

Well follow these steps I'm about to give you. (I'm assuming you already have root privileges.) 1) Download ROM Manager. 2) Open ROM Manager and select the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" button. 3) Select the model "HTC Hero (CDMA)" 4) Once the recovery is flashed push the "Ok" button 5) Select the "Reboot into Recovery" option 6) Give Superuser permissions if asked 7) Select your ROM and flash it 8) Select your GApps and flash it 8) Reboot.
i click reboot into recovery also and it gets stuck in htc screen i cant access the recovery from the hboot screen also

That means you don't have a custom recovery installed. Follow my instructions and flash the recovery image.
i click flash clockworkmod recovery and then it says successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery ! then it says : current recovery: clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 then i click reboot to recovery then ok then it boots and then it gets stuck at the white htc screen

So I realize I did something stupid and I'm hoping I can fix it. I was in the process of rooting and installing a new ROM on my brothers phone. I made it S-off, and I didn't want clockwork recovery so I just skipped that. I updated the firmware so I can put an ICS ROM on it and now it's stuck in a bootloop I would imagine because there is no recovery on there. Can I fix this somehow? How do I install a Recovery when I don't have a recovery?
Thanks

you can install recovery from bootloader/fastboot and then rom from the recovery
here follow the post #2 from this guide to do that
What about download mode aka odin mode

download mode is not required for HTC phones.. we can flash stuff from bootloader
to go to bootloader
power off phone then remove battery ,reinsert it ..then hold power + volume down button ..will take you to bootloader ..there you can flash the recovery ..and a lot

So I downloaded the pg58img file and put it on the root of my SD card. went into bootloader and it saw the file but for some reason didn't give me the option to install anything. Any idea why or what I did wrong?

No. RUU is a last option.
This is way too simple for that.

Just need to flash a recovery; preferably 4ext. (only step 2 from this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345)
Then nandroid backup from recovery (main menu of 4ext > Backup | Restore > Backup)
Then put an ICS ROM on SD Card using the Toggle USB Storage" option (main menu of 4ext > Toggle USB Storage)
Then format all partitions except SD Card from recovery (main menu of 4ext > Format | Wipe > Format all partitions (except SD Card) )
Then flash the ICS ROM from the recovery (main menu of 4ext > Install zip > Choose zip from SD Card).
Simple as that.

If your phone is Rooted, you have to choose what CRom's you want, Go here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22423403&postcount=2
Then follow the instruction in the OP, usually in the 1st Post of the thread.
When you rooted your phone there is a CWM Recovery with it.
all you have to do is to access this by doing 3 combo key, Hold volume up + Home button + power button, just count 5 sec and then release. you will boot on CWM recovery.
There is easy way also, all you need is to download ROM manager from the Market and there is an option there that you can boot to recovery.
Goodluck
Rom manager could brick your phone.. I already used it and bricks my phone

Don't download ROM manager from Market, It officially doesn't support Galaxy SL i9003 , if you download from Market!
I will like to know How have you rooted your phone and which version of android you are running? 2.2 Froyo or 2.3 Gingerbread?
If you have rooted your phone using CF-ROOT like AMIT Bagaria's or may be the one provided by Ganesh then you will be having CWM installed already! ( Clockword Mod Recovery)
As the other friend has told you how you can go into recovery, follow the same process which is mentioned in the ICS thread, you can use ICS Alpha 13 by Dheeru
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21490960&postcount=1
Find further information related Installation and Download on that Link!
Have fun

mmmm I'm not sure if I understand... So if you want to install CWM Recovery, you should install Atrix2Bootstrap app ( 1st Attached, Unknown sources must be enable), then:
Open the app, XD
Click Bootstrap Recovery Button to install the Recovery (You must be root for this, so if you are not... You can read this thread or You can download this file and execute the bat file for root your phone. When it asks you for an option... just press 1 and wait...)
Click Reboot Recovery Button and wait... and that's all. XD
I booted my phone before... because BMM also required it...
I before installed bootstrap but it can't recover when mobile is broke... because our bootloader is remain locked even if we install it...
& also I installed leaked 4.1.2 rom.... so JY daddy patch with unlock it can't worked on phone...
so i go to BMM...
I want some app or flashable zip which help me to recover when I break my phone... Right now installed 3 ROMs using BMM ...
but I am finding option for BMM...

custom recoveries are the base for rooting and installing custom roms. I am quite surprised by how you managed to root successfully without installing a custom recovery.
My kind advice dont do anything without proper knowledge.
U can find clockworkmod recovery on the playstore
u can find all ur answers here in the xda forums
so read well before u flash
no dude , I got the cwm rom manage from the play store.. the trouble comes when I try to set up "custom recovery".. the thing is , cwm doesn't support my device and it requires me to manually install a cwm based recovery.. which I don't know how to do.. so any instructions on how to do that (or some alternative to cwm ) would be really helpful
thanks

then try installing the latest version suggested by the rom mangaer.
You could also try the twrp recovery. These recoveries support the rom manager
hope i helped
