Umm turn off roaming?!
Settings>Wireless and networks>Mobile networks>Data roaming...
iv'e done that but it still wont connect to at&t data but i can get calls and text but i think it's charing me roaming fees

What ROM is on your phone now?
How do you know you're phone is in "roaming"?
MIUI but it hasn't worked with any desire HD ROM even though i've flashed the AT&T radio

Toggle airplane mode on then off. See if it fixes it.

Is it just this phone that shows roaming? Any other at&t phones near you? what do they show?
is their any way to check if your actually roaming because im not getting edge like i always do at my house and i never am on roaming

I guess you can look at your online account or call at&t. Does it show roaming just in one area? Only indoors?
im not in a place that i ever roam, i think it's something that I'M missing because this happens on all my ROM's and i can't fix it by any traditional method so i think that im just missing something that i have to flash
*#*#4636#*#* in dialer, then select "Phone info" and you'll get a lot more detail (including roaming, network type, etc.).
it says that my current network is AT&T but that its roaming and it's saying that i have edge but i still don't know if it's charging me roaming charges and how to get back to the normal status info

How long has this been going on? I would say go back to a stock ROM and see if it fixes it.

thats not the problem but it has to do with the radio so can anyone tell me where the stock AT&T radio is that the Inspire came with because i tried the one in the hack kit but i didnt understand how to flash it

My Inspire almost always can't get more than .50 on the Speedtest. When I used my Captivate when I get 3.00 to 4.00, my Inspire just stops at .50. It seems like it can easily go faster but just something is blocking it. On wifi, it gets Captivate speeds, maybe a little slower. But anywhere my Cappy got a pretty high score. My Inspire just can't get passed around .50. What is wrong?

Yes it shows the H+, and when I type that number in the dialer, nothing happends. when I call it, it says "MMI code started." then I press ok and it shows "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"

How do I do that, and which one do I do? MEdia Net, or MMS?
i had an issue where my data didn't work at all on the phone, right out of the box. perhaps try making a new apn using these settings.
i can get about 3.5mb/s dl and 1.5mb/s ul on my inspire.

Not sure how you're getting 1.5mb up without rooting to enable the HSUPA
EDIT: I see you're rooted. you're not comparing the apples-to-apples for this user with your response. He's not rooted I assume, so to suggest that he should be seeing the same thing as you doesn't make much sense, since you're rooted to bypass the stock config disabling the HSUPA for the upload speed.

So I recently bought the girlfriend a Samsung Galaxy S 4g. Definitely a bit different than the Evo in terms of the overall process. It didn't help that I started out in the Vibrant forums somehow...
Anyway. As it stands right now I have her phone all rooted and it has CWM and I'm using the Valhalla ROM. The issue is that she doesn't have data.... and when I go into wireless networks and check out the mobile networks and such, I can never actually see T-Mobile. If I search I can see AT&T, which I connect to and I start roaming. If I do this I still don't actually have internet. I can't use the market, or the web browser or facebook or anything that requires data. The browser will sometimes redirect me to some web2go website, otherwise it just times out or says it can't connect to the server.
So does anybody know what's going on? Please let me know if you need any more details.
I've never had trouble like this between my Evo, or my Epic 4g Touch or any friends phones. I've also tried going back to 100% stock unrooted GB and I still have the exact same problem. The ROM doesn't seem to matter, neither does being rooted.
Since you are running Valhalla bring down the notification bar and make sure you have the data toggle on.
Yep, it's definitely toggled to on. I even cycle airplane mode and make sure it's on afterwards.
Only other thing I would suggest is a factory reset. The phone should be picking up the T-mobile network without any problems. But if rooted or not and on stock vs custom rom the issue remains you may just have to set it back to stock and send it in for replacement.
And I know this is a silly question but make sure you call T-mobile and verify that this line has data plan. It has happened in the past when I added a line that it wasn't provisioned correctly and out of the blue the data stopped working. The service was automatically removed due to a reps mistake.
Check your APN settings. Should be T-Mobile's, if not then that's what causing the issue. Just look up for those on google.

My APN settings are correct. I've now tried several other APN settings though, and this hasn't helped.
I know this phone is on a data plan. It's on the $50.00 a month prepaid. It did work when we got it, and after it was rooted. I just noticed recently that it stopped working, and I'm not sure at what point it happened, and if it has anything to do with what I've done.
I called tmobile and they said they couldn't see any network related issues going on. Just my phone not connecting, so it was made a ticket for the engineers I guess haha. They are supposed to work on it, and they usually will either fix it and never contact you, or call you if they need you to do something.

I've been in really good service areas with full bars T-Mobile and I still don't have internet. So I really don't know what's up. The "T-Mobile engineers" haven't called me back or fixed anything yet.
I'm about to bring myself back to stock and bring it in to a store.
Bring it back to stock & maybe put it in recovery mode & wipe caches & do factory reset again. See if that helps before returning it.

You might try reflashing the ROM or maybe just flash a different modem. I had issues like that once when i was on black ice. If you had data before, there probably isn't anything wrong with your phone.

Having the same Data problem
I had an unlocked ATT BB Curve on T-Mobile and the data was working (although very slow...)
I decided to try out a "Vibrant" hoping to be able to install ICS via Cyanablahblah.
Searching on Ebay I bought one only it turned out to be the 4G (it didn't realize there was a difference.)
Since then I can't get DATA on the 4G except in WiFi.
On the network it goes to the page: u.web2go.com and says my data plan does not work on this device.
Has anybody had any success with this problem ?
Could it be a 4G issue ? Before DATA came from Edge.
Have you checked what your APN settings should be with the magics of Google?

Apparently Blackberry Data service does not work on non BB phones.

Is there any way to fool it with a 3G modem flash or something ?
I think I screwed up when I bought the phone not realizing there were 2 variants of the "Vibrant."
I wonder if I would have this problem with the earlier (non "V") 3g phone.
Probably. If it were just the 3G/4G causing the problem, you can force the SGS4G to only use 2G networks in the data settings... but if it's anything like the old Verizon bits with tethering and other data, they check for specific data strings that are harder to fake... I mean, set.

Entering a new APN should do the trick. Not sure what you should use on Rogers or Virgin. But for AT&T, they have different APNs for LTE versus non-LTE phones. So entering the APN info for non-LTE seems to disable LTE.
That dialer trick doesn't work, all of the options not containing LTE revert back to the original right after you select them.

Depends on your goal. If you are in a fringe LTE coverage area, this will solve connection problems, and thereby improve battery drain to some degree.
But I see what you are saying. It prevents connection to a certain LTE network, but doesn't turn off the LTE radio.

For some reason I cannot get LTE to work at all on CM10. I've done everything and it still wont work at all. I tried reverting back to stock rom, and when I did, LTE worked. So I thought if I went back to CM10 from stock it would resolve the issue, but it did not. I've checked my APNs and I cannot change the preferred network mode and i tried *#*#info#*#* and i can't change anything there to anything that has LTE on it. Just making sure, but you know the LTE icon doesn't exist in cm10 , right? LTE is indicated by the 4g icon

Ok, try different apn. Which cm10 are you trying to use?
Does the problem happen on other ROMs? I'm not saying to use a different ROM, just saying that if it doesn't happen on, say, AOKP or Orthus (both CM-based), it's probably an issue with how CM10 is configured on your phone.
If you go into network operators (settings -network)and select att it will allow to change modes.

Haha yeah most of the time this setting is overlooked and this option enables you to turn off LTE if you want (which you don't have to have a RAT unlocked modem as presumed) and if you go to *#*#4636#*#* on your dialer you can have it set to LTE only as well.

I actually have another problem now, after a reboot, it doesn't show any options for me to choose under available networks?
it came back after a few tries but then went away again, it's not consistently there to choose.
Does it show a searching animation?

I have the exact same issues. I've done everything on this post plus done all the research as well. For my problem whenever I enter an LTE area my data service completely drops for about 5 seconds and then when it connects it only shows HSPA+. I have never been able to pick up LTE. When I was on CM9.1 I had no issues at all. LTE connected with no issues. So is this a CM10 issue or a phone issue?
try this, might help, might not, make a backup, if you have more than one apn, remove all apn's except your lte apn(ATT Pta, for rogers :ltemobile), restart phone
edit: of course make sure it was set to the lte apn in the first place, if it was and still have probs, do above procedure if you have more than one apn

For some reason my APN was not set to the lte one (ATT Pta). I changed it to that. Hopefully that fixes my problem. Thanks for the help!
I have a slightly different problem. I am running the latest cm10 nightly and notice that any time I get lucky and go into a 4g coverage area I can only make phone calls. No data transfers at all. I have my APN set to ATT LTE pta which I assumed is the right selection. Im normally in a A3g(HSPA)~700-17 coverage area. Is this the wrong APN to use?

Yup. I have HSPA/HSPA+ around my house but close to work I have LTE. No problem with switching or losing data connection when I go from HSPA to LTE. Just double check your APN settings. There might be a typo or some missing field. Or you can create a new APN for lte and use that as your default.

I have a Nexus 5 with Android version 4.4.2 baseband M8974A-1.0.25.0.23. However for some reason there is no Signal Strength on the phone. I flashed back to 4.4 and still NO Signal Strength.
Anyone have idea of why?

What carrier do you have? Have you tried putting the sim card in another phone?
I have a ATT sim but it can not make any call because Signal Strength is 0dBm
This happened to me once after flashing a zip file. A full wipe fixed it.
just did a full wipe in recovery mode and still 0dBm and 90ASU.

Well your radio is off. Try entering *#*#4636#*#* in the phone app. The Phone Information, then scroll down to where it says LTE/GSM auto (PRL) and the button below should say "Turn off radio". If your's says "Turn on radio", thats the problem.
BTW, use the quote button next time so I get notified when you reply to me.

Yes IMEI is there. Just seem like I can't turn radio on/off, which prevent me from changing LTE-GSM-CDMA etc...

Try flashing the factory image. I had a similar problem. I re flashed the factory cache.img and it fixed it for me, but I would re flash everything.
I also have the same problem. I feel that there is something wrong with N5 antenna. It shows 0 dBm at my home. My other phone with the same sim pickups 1-2 bars of signal.
Strange...my N5 is doing the same thing now. No signal at all. Hopefully this isn't some widespread issue.

Flashed both 4.4 and 4.4.2 too but nothing help.
I got 3 and both Nexus is working great just my have no radio signal. I hope I dont get a defected phone. Hope LG/Google see into this problem soon.

Hey man I had the exact same problem it just progressively kept getting worse and finally I couldnt get the signal to come back no matter what I did. I took the back panel off and cleaned everything and now my signal is solid as a rock. I reccomend you try it. Check Ifixit to see how to remove the back panel its pretty easy.
Nexus 5 no signal fix
NEXUS 5 NO SIGNAL FIX, I finally fixed my Nexus 5! I downgraded to 4.4.0. At first I had 4g LTE signal and then noticed that I would lose all signal the moment it jumped to GSM and the signal would not come back anymore. So I had to reflash 4.4 again and set the radio to LTE only! To set the radio to LTE only type *#*#4636#*#*. I also flashed different radio bands, now on KRT01B 0.15. (also cancelled all aplication updates in google store, don`t know if has anything to do with it)

Hi! Got the same issue, tried every possible solution, but none of them could make the radio work. Could you explain in more detail how you cleaned it up?
Also having a similar issue to this - interested in the method you used to clean it? I fear that its some hardware issue that was somehow triggered by my phone running out of battery completely. Weird thing is everything else appears to work fine.
