Thunderbolt or Sensation - Thunderbolt General

Im stuck in between these two phones. Can anyone give me any PROS AND CONS between these two phones?

Only pro to the Bolt is VZW network and LTE speeds.
Here's a summary from another poster-

If T-Mobile is good around your area, go Sensation. If not, go Thunderbolt. Like someone else said, the only pro over the Sensation the Thunderbolt has is Verizon's reliable network and LTE.

No such thing as future proof...Just saying.
It's probably going to be down to what network you want more than anything. I don't have a choice. I'm on VZW no matter what really.

I thought the sensation was europe only. Its going ton be sold in US?

Well in my area the choice comes down to network. Maybe the specs on the sensation are better, but the reliable 3g and LTE on Verizon would make it a no trainer. However if I was in a better T-Mobile area and I wanted to wait then maybe the sensation.

ill go for the thunderbolt! thanks guys!

Yea. It was confirmed to be coming to T-Mobile US this Summer.

Where I live, T-mobile is the only mobile provider that still runs only on Edge... And the cell reception once you leave the city I'm in is spotty just about everywhere... Although the Sensation will be a smoking device... There's a reason why all the truck drivers in these parts don't have T-mobile phones... Keep that in mind...
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk

Here's my take...
I needed a phone now... Thunderbolt was the best Verizon had at the time...
When my upgrade is ready there will be a device better than both, and possibly more support in Android for the "newer" technology.
If I traveled away from Hawaii I would more than likely never pick up T-Mobile. Verizon gives the best overall coverage, and honestly the price isn't as drastic people make it out to be. The difference for me is $10 (Verizon gives me nearly 15% more on my discount).
So I will take what fits your wants when you need to get a new device. For me it was the thunderbolt, but chances are in a few months all the current Android devices would be considered "outdated" even though they really are not.

1. There will always be something that comes out that is BETTER. You can only get what you can when you can get it. You can't always wait for the next best thing b/c you won't ever get a phone with that mentality.
2. HTC Sensation has one of the best specs right now.
3. HTC probably sucks at locking the bootloader so HOPEFULLY you can root it.
4. Dual-core is a great concept and will help with battery life, but Android isn't optimized to take advantage of dual-core just yet so its not that big of a deal [yet].
5. Anecdote: I once chose a phone over a network. Never again. Plus things will get ported over anyways.

Last generation phones are sometime better, as well. I for one am a flash junkie, and looking at all of the mods roms and themes for older devices like the EVO I feel a bit jealous. However , by the time the Sensation is released, the Thunderbolt will have a ton of mods and roms for it. By the time the development gains momentum for the Sensation, there will be another better and newer phone coming out. You have to make the choice which you like better. All in all, I wanted an EVO with the guts of a MT4G and the network that only Verizon offers here in the US... the Thunderbolt is the phone I've been looking for

Inspire or Atrix?

This is the big question for me. On the one hand I love HTC devices and the screen size (i am a long time HD2 user until I flashed it to death ). On the other hand, it seems like its a rehash of 1 year old technology, with that terrible battery and camera (im using a Captivate and the quality diffefence compared to any HTC device I have used is massive), and the Atrix looks incredible on paper (battery, dual core, peripherals, screen resolution etc). Trouble is, whenever I get a non HTC device, I spend days tryimg to get it to have the look and feel of an HTC device!

Im the same way. I have a captivated know and will be getting an Inspire. Im really not a fan of Motorola phones. I want either the Inspire or the Infuse. Leaning toward the Inspire in big way tho.

Yea, I'm going with HTC, they just seem better built and like you said, with my other Android phones I try to make my non HTC to look like htc, lol!

I love HTC devices too. Even with the older tech and a little bit less in the way of specs, I'd choose the Inspire any day. I'm not a fan of Motorola phones regardless which carrier they've been on. I just haven't had a good one dating all the way back past the razr and up to the first droid. Next, because of the bootloader stuff they did with the Droid X, I imagine they'll try to lock the Atrix down even if they say they're going to work with devs. I love my Aria, no problems at all and it's been a great phone. I kinda see the inspire as a big brother to the Aria which is why I'm going for it as soon as I can.
The Inspire does have its shortcoming but I like AT&T and I like HTC. I'm willing to sacrifice on a few features (battery, CPU, front camera) in order to get what I think is better quality and user experience of an HTC phone. I'm currently still on a Tilt 2 and I will be able to upgrade in May. If at MWC this month nothing better that would hit AT&T this year from HTC is shown then I'll just go with the Inspire.
I'm thinking since the Inspire is being introduced at a lower price than the Atrix then perhaps a purchase at full price for the Inspire with no contract might be worth it in order to save the upgrade credit for something later that might come out toward the end of the year.
I had both in my hand this week, including the Atrix laptop dock. Very nice.
But I think the Inspire seemed more...quality. New Sense interface, great camera controls and efx, 8mp camera with VERY bright dual LED flash. And half the price.
Atrix + Laptop bundle will be $500 on contract. Atrix alone $199
Inspire is $99 on contract.
I'm leaning Inspire
I've had the HTC Inspire 4G in my hands for three days now (be sure to check out some of the videos and blogs posts I've written up already http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940312) and I can say that you will not be disappointed with the Inspire. The unibody aluminum case makes the phone feel solid. I played around with the Atrix at CES last month and was not particularly impressed with the handset's external hardware. Also, the higher resolution screen looked a bit off with the home screen UI and many applications.
I don't know why people keep referring to the Inspire and Thunderbolt as being phones with rehashed technology from last year. Yes, the second generation Snapdragon processor did come out last year, but the first phones to use them only started showing up in late fall. If that's your standard for calling something old, the first devices powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 surfaced right around the same time.
The processor in this phone performs nearly 50% better than the 1GHz processor found in the EVO and Nexus One (first generation Snapdragon processors).
The Inspire is a well rounded handset with a good camera, decent batter life, and solid benchmark numbers. No, it will not outperform the Atrix or any other phone with a Tegra 2 processor, but at least you can trust the HTC quality and know that it'll probably get an official Android update somewhere down the road.
I originally wanted the Inspire, then once I saw the specs--I thought about the Atrix as my next phone. But now, I think I'll want the Inspire again.
Honestly, I really like the phone. Specs-wise, next the the Atrix, well--old tech.
Next to the Captivate I have now--more of the same. But I'd pick the Inspire over my Captivate any day of the week.
I'm just waiting until it comes out so I can ring warranty and have them send me one to fiddle around with.
Cyanogen. Enough said. HTC inspire is quality work. Yes not the best internal spec. Atrix looks impressive on paper. But for those of us who live on xda atrix will not do it for us. Inspire has many devs already working on roms themes and kernels. Ands its hspa+ it will be a upgrade from my N1.

ill be comming to android officialy from the Tilt 2 to inspire. i was wowed by the atrix but after thinking about what my boss has gone through with his droid and what i have seen i think the inspire will be the way to go!

I think flash happy people with Captivates should and will lean to the Inspire. Seeing as how hard it has been for the Dev community to cook something up rather than spliced together samsung roms. HTC devices just seem so much easier to dev. I am afraid that if I go to Motorola I will have the same issues. I don't know if it is just more Devs on HTC devices or that they are just that much easier to crack. Seems like the other devices are just harder to get anything good on them.

I can attest to this. I have had the captivate since a couple weeks after launch and have been yearning for some cyanogenmod love as well as any ui other than touchwiz. It seems like the devs for the captivate have a really hard time doing anything besides splicing cappy leaks together and while I have run some ready quick and efficient roms, I am always checking the htc forums with envy. I am going to get the infuse pending a better htc device coming out at MWD.

The Inspire is definitely the headsup winner.
Honestly who is really going to use that FrontFacingCamera anyways if it even had it other than make some real time video pron, hahaha
The only question Im asking myself is if there are any 1400mAh or 1500mAh aftermarket batteries that I can swap out after buying it.
1230 mAh is low in comparison to other phones with similar specs
Inspire 4G FTW!
Inspire all the way Atrix is full of hype and no promise. Locked boot, dual cores wont be utilized fully and motoblur is crap
I'm debating between the two as well.
I think what is keeping me from choosing is:
A) continued support from HTC and AT&T, as well as dev support if I wanted it (most likely would, I jailbroke my iphone about two months after I got it)
B) a huge part of the Atrix IS it's docks. I was never interested in them in the first place, just it's specs. So I'd almost be buying half a product
C) build quality! My plastic iphone 3G is literally about to split in half, right where the white plastic and bezel meet. I'm tired of plastic phones.
the Atrix is looking like this: higher res, biometric lock, dual core, RAM, battery
Inspire: Build quality, support, camera (debatable, but still more Megs)
it's not old tech, take a look at the comparisons of the Inspire and the Evo 4G, it's clearly a new device in a similar casing
http://mobile.downloadatoz.com/comparision,htc-inspire-4g-vs-htc-evo-4g-black-sprint.html
I for one look forward to getting mine on (next) Monday. I love my captivate, but I love HTC more.
I have also been wondering if I should leave the captivate and jump to the Atrix or Inspire. I am always one for the latest and greatest so I was leaning towards the Atrix or holding out for another 2 core phone. After reading a lot and browsing these pages I just about want to go for the inspire. Man do I hate decisions!!
After having a Nexus One I'm sold on HTC hardware. I'm going to get the Inspire and love it...at least until HTC releases something better.
However, since I think it will be months before HTC releases another compelling phone on AT&T, I'll be alright with that. The minute you buy technology it's already outdated, and either you can get used to that idea or you can spend exorbitant amounts of money trying to keep up.
I'll get the Inspire for $99 and use the money I save on it (plus the money I get from flipping my Nexus One) to get a tablet this spring. Can't wait for the first HTC Honeycomb tablet!
If Sony Ericsson is saying the Arc is their top tier phone well then the Inspire 4G is really not all that outdated and irrelevant.
Sure its not a dual-core behemoth but from what the early reviewers have said is with the specs it will have when its released, the smartphone is fast and responsive.
Check out my other thread on the similarties to the Arc and other Snapdragon phones and will see that with overclocking, bootloader and rom support this can potentially turn into a dual core beast performace wise.
What can you buy nowadays for $99 anyways, not even a burnt out everyday iPhone or extremely outdated Blackberry.
At least with the Inspire you know right away that potentially all the hard work and Devlopment from the Desire HD thread can be carried over to us.
The Inspire 4G will stay active for a good while in my opinion, I can atest to HTC quality since I still own the phone that started it all the HTC Dream / G1.
This phone has been dropped on concrete, slammed againt walls, thrown around like a bad habit and is still going strong and even have a fast/ stable version of Froyo 2.2.1 with apps2sd enabled and running with zero issues. This phone was only offically updated til 1.6 Donut from HTC and T-Mobile yet the incredible xda community has kept it going and left all who own it satisfied.
That to me is a prime example of what HTC quality, xda support and those out there with the potential to make a good phone great in the Months and Years ahead.
Check out the Samsung and Sony forums those guys are truly regretting their purchases from barely a few months ago while I'm still content from a phone from 2008.
Proof positive that this purchase will be a smart one from whomever takes a chance on it when its released to the public.

Tmobile

Have anyone noticed no matter what new phone tmobile gets there always something they do as a company to stop if from being a top phone. Example Damn near no marketing for any of there phone except the mytouch wtf. Samsung vibrant no flash or front facing camera. G2x plagued by so much problems . Sensation under powered beast with so much more than what they give us out the box. Compared to at&t where there phones are maxed out with there power and not being cheap with phone features, flash should be a must for a high end smart phone along with build quality. Verizon market the hell out all there phone and it works ,hell i know more about there new phones than tmobile. Im glad at&t bought this struggling ass company cause i was on the verge of switching carriers.

What exactly did T-Mobile do to the phone that makes it less of a phone than the EU version?
They order the phones and somehow they manage to get the worst phones example. The vibrant was the worst galaxy s phone out of all the carriers period. All there htc phones are mid grade at best, sensation high end barely. Just seem like everyone else get more selections and better stuff.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
How was the vibrant the worst galaxy s? Its identical to the att version in all the internals.
The sensation is identical to the eu version minus a few things no one needs that they removed. They even kept "free" tethering which is nice.
The g2x is comparable to dual cores in other carriers and has vanilla android and the g2 is much better than the droid if we are talking phones with keyboards.
I am sorry but you are talking out of your ass. The only thing the sensation lacks is s off and that's htc fault

while i dont agree with alot of what you said, tmobile does has THE worst marketing stategy(not even sure if its a strategy). They pretty much have no advertisment when the NBA season is over(i.e.Tmobile Halftime Show, etc.) I love tmobile for the great price, customer service and they really do have some good phones. But marketing is non-existent and they usually try to push low-end to mid-range devices. Like ive read that they arnt getting the SGS2? if thats true, shame on tmobile.

Other than the Atrix and Evo3D NONE of those phone compare to the Sensation. Why don't you return you phone and go troll somewhere else and quit trying to stir up crap in the forum.

T-Mobile isn't getting the SGSII, they're getting a better device - the Hercules.
As has been pointed out, a lot of the phones on T-Mobile are quite capable devices and T-Mo was the pioneer of our beloved Android.
T-Mobile leaves something to be desired in terms of device commercials but I've seen commercials for the Sensation AND the G2x (before it was pulled) far more than any other device besides the Droid Charge.
The G2x is an amazing phone - LG just needs to fix a few issues that may be software or may be hardware. It still beats the pants off the crappy ass Atrix.
It doesn't compete with Exynos, no, but no American carrier has a Samsung Exynos device at the moment and rumors point that in America we may get Tegra 2 instead of Exynos so its a moot point.
I have a G2x and a Sensation. The G2x spanks the Sensation on performance but there is significant device lag that is random, sometimes including freezing, which is unacceptable and the reboot issue is a big problem. When it works though, the G2x is the phone to beat. Hell mine overclocks to 1.55GHz with a 200mV undervolt and barely gets warm. In Mandro (one of the only dual-core speed tests), it actually beats the Exynos by a good 15%. The Exynos overclocks as well, however, and lets not forget that the Sensation, having a Qualcomm chip, will most likely overclock at least 50% if not higher as well.
Quit trolling. Go get a phone with a provider that locks down everything, charges more, has terrible coverage, and consistently breaks promises. I'm just fine with T-Mobile and I am sure many others are as well otherwise they'd be out of business.
Also, at&t made a BID for T-Mo. The merger is nowhere near actual approval and hopefully it can be delayed long enough for it to get denied based on wireless competition and at&t will have to suck it up for once and actually build THEIR OWN network rather than piggyback off everyone else's!!!
EDIT: And on your comment about the Epic versus the Vibrant. Note the internal storage difference between the two and then realize that Sprint made a huge trade off with their version just to have a hardware keyboard.
From customer services reps i was told there bought and thing won't change until its finalized and my contact is over and like u said too many bugs in all there phones not just one all there phones .I'm hating i sold my vibrant running bionix 1.3 cuause it runs way better than this funky as I'm staring to doubt duel core sensation smh.

Now I know your just a trolling idiot. T-Mobile is NOT bought. AT&T has made an offer. Do you read the news or do you just write random BS that you pull out of your a**? AT&T CANNOT buy T-Mobile UNTIL DOJ and FCC approve it (estimated to happen March 2012 time frame). THEN it will take another 3 months to close the deal. So quit complaining that your stuck with T-Mobile, get off your Mommy's plan and get your own contract with whomever you want. Then, no more Sensation.
Oh, why don't you just take it back and get a Vibrant again? You have 14 days.

Obviously asking this question in the Sensation forum is going to be biased toward the Sensation. I'd get the Sensation....but I'm not you and don't know your situation.

I have the G2x and the Sensation and while they both have tremendous potential they both have multiple issues. I would wait for Hercules as I am going to sell one of the two or both and purchase the Hercules.
buy or wait?
There will always be a newer/better phone that will be out within 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months of buying your next phone. You have to ask yourself a different question, which phone will have the features I need and will really use? If you are simply holding out for the best phone right now you will be disappointed and frustrated and not fully happy with your next purchase. I love the Sensation. I waited for months to get it and I am happy with my purchase. I have always rooted my android phones to use unavailable features on stock phones like; the wifi tethering with my laptop and tab. This is already built in and available the moment you buy it. ATT and Sprint and Verizon charge for this feature. BOOOOO! Good for T-Mo while it lasts. The phone is responsive, comes loaded with useful apps and widgets, it's sexy and fun to play with I have Netflix working on it (so do many others, I did not invent the wheel), hbo-go, and other streaming apps that work great on the sensation. The camera is decent enough for me not to carry a dedicated camera for photos and videos. For me, I use multimedia daily, and this phone meets my needs. I was buying every new phone that came out and was never satisfied. The sensation is a good buy, the hercules will be out in the next 2-3 months and by then there will be another phone with even better specs that will leave you drooling. I am sure it will be a great phone too.
I was really excited about the announcement of the Hercules and besides the GPS problem, I loved my Vibrant(wife has it now). But IMO, as nice as Sammys designs are(I don't like the design of the Sensation) they make the bezel too big.
My sensation is just as big as my Vibrant even though it has a 4.3 inch screen. I've always hated the added real estate which is why I chose the Sensation over the gx2. If the infuse is any idication of how big the Hercs going to be, I might pass on it and see what comes out next year. Besides, I love the weight of my HTC. I hated how light my Vibrant was even though that thing was literally indestructable.
First off ask yourself the question cause only you can decide ,if you like bland vanilla and super amolded screens then go with Samsung, if you like widgets and eye candy then sensation is the one ....all phones with this much horsepower have issues and I mean all ,once bootloader is unlocked on sensation you'll have the speed to go with the looks ,and if you're not interested in flashing then you still got a great device , but like mentioned earlier after the Hercules there will be something better 3 months later ,it will never end
simply put:
4.3" qHD >>>> 4.5" WVGA
So far all of the information leaked about the Hercules shows that its not using the exynos soc. Just some food for though. The waiting game does suck though because something better will come out after the Hercules. That's just the way it is.

Yep, it's rumored to be using the APQ8060, which is the same as the MSM8260 without the integrated HSPA radio. This is probably because the Hercules will have 42 Mbps HSPA+ connectivity and it will need a separate radio for this and that the Exynos SoC is already in limited quantity (some SGS II variants will have the Tegra 2).

Which I why I got the Sensation. Pixel density FTW.
Cannot wait for the HTC unlock. Need to cleanse bloatware.
I love the resolution on this phone. Can't go wrong with qHD, it makes the Sensation that much more beautiful.

I won't go with a Samsung again after having the vibrant. Samsung is the slowest company to come out with updates.

The killer feature on the Hercules is that 42mbps speed. The usb radios that are out are getting speeds that rival Verizon's LTE.
On the down side (for me) is that with a 4.5 inch screen and that Samsung bezel it is going to be a huge phone - nudging into small tablet territory. Battery life will also be tricky.
At the moment I'm not willing to trade a great svelte HTC design for a faster Sammy slab. But we'll see when it comes out.

Given some of the deals we've seen for the Sensation... I'd definitely lean in that direction. 4.5" is pushing it for me, and the qHD is nicer than I originally thought it would be.
I hope there will be good support from the community with custom Roms.. How are the chances for that to happen?
The Sensation is like the Desire... huge Dev support
It is a great Phone and there will be as much People like in the Desire section ... so much support from the DevĀ“s
The Sensation is just great! I would never take a samsung instead of an HTC.... Sense is too great and the bigger Resolution is so nice! You feel it very much and movies are just wow on this phone! And the Sound! Great!
Just a Multimedia Talent..... I would not wait if i am able to use this phone! I will never miss something like this phone!
Just great! There are little mistakes but Touch Wiz ist just crap!

Although it will technically be capable of those speeds, I doubt it will come anywhere near those speeds. The sensation should be able to hit 11Mbs theoretically but the fastest i've had it download was 7.9Mbs. I'm sure the Hercules will be closer to 11Mbs speeds in real world.

They just updated half their Android line up to 2.3.4 in the past two months. They've updated the SGS2 four times and a fifth update to 2.3.4 is due out by the end of the month. There's a difference between getting updates directly from Samsung and having to be dependent on your U.S. carrier to get them out. The global Sensation's are being updated now. Let's see how long it takes T-Mobile to push the U.S. update.

It should get 20 mbps with ease if you're in an area that supports that connectivity. T-Mobile demonstrated those type of speeds using a data stick.
soon there will be a samsung amoled hd screen soon and thats my new phone.

How's the Thunderbolt holding up?

I have never owned a Tbolt... I've owned the Charge, Bionic, DX, and now the Rezound. As many of you are probably aware, the Rezound is a great phone but it still has no true dev support to get the bootloader unlocked, and I miss flashing ROMs and such. I know someone who has their Tbolt for sale and it's very tempting for me to buy it and just hold on to the Rezound until proper dev support happens, IF it happens. But I need something to hold me over for now. Maybe I'll just return the Rezound and buy the Tbolt until the next batch of 4G phones come out. Who knows.
My question is simply this... how's the Tbolt holding up for as old as it is? I see there's a lot of support here and some awesome ROMs.
To be honest, and this is my opinion only. The Tbolt to me happens to be one of the best phones on verizon still. From everything I have looked at, there is no phone that has everything the Tbolt has. Yes there are dual core now or 1.5 ghz phones but you dont get the whole package the tbolt has. Still love that you can surf and talk on both 3g & 4g (i dont think they have any other phone that does that, but I could be wrong)
I personally have never experienced any issue with my phone that others have posted. Its always worked except when verizon data is down and its solid. The phone has received 5 updates since release (9 months) and that is impressive to me that they are still looking at the phone and sending patches for it.
I am fine waiting till my upgrade around 11/12. This phone has been fine for me..
The dev community is awesome and there is alot of support right now.... The Devs rock...
I've read so many posts about the bolt being "the red headed step child". After seeing Lindsay Lohan in playboy, I'm fine with that analogy. I have ZERO complaints from battery life to performance. There are sense 2.1,3.0 and two variations of 3.5. We have CM7 and several variations of it as well as MIUI. ICS is being worked on by some incredibly motivated and devoted devs, it's only a matter of time. Grab a Rezound battery, root and reap the benefits of the best 4g community there is (for now). Even though I haven't spend substantial time with any of the new phones, none have grabbed my eye. Besides dual core there haven't been drastic changes IMO, and dual core will be trumped by quad core in a few months. I've owned the OG DROID and now the Tbolt and I can't come up with a complaint for either....

Awesome thanks guys. I wanted to grab a Tbolt when I returned my Charge to Costco but I read about the call quality being hit or miss, so it's a crap shoot with the phone I might be buying.
The only thing that prevents me from returning the Rezound is the fact that I sold the Beats headphones that came with it, lol. So I have to find another pair, undo my red button modification and send it back to the store since I bought it after they launched their "holiday return policy".
I am a former thunderbolt owner and have nothing but good things to say about it. My wife is using and running soab. I have a nexus but actually miss the thunderbolt in many ways. The radio is much better and I miss sense. I don't think you could go wrong buying this phone although development has definitely slowed.
If this gets ice cream sandwich it should be relevant for a lot longer

Bought a like-new Tbolt last night, should be here by Saturday... just in time for Christmas!
I'll use it for now and if the Rezound doesn't get S-off by the time Verizon's holiday return policy ends, it goes back for good. If it does happen, then I'll hand the Tbolt off to my girlfriend. Win/win for everyone.
I've had my Tbolt since march 2011 and ive had no problems from the phone. everything still works flawlessly, despite my meddling and screwing things up a little =P. its not as flashy as the newer phones, but its beyond exeptional in terms of quality of use.
The TB I bought back in March has been working great, a few months ago I picked up the extended battery for it and while it's much more bulky, I can do whatever I want on the phone all day long without having to worry about the battery dying. The dev support has been great, I don't believe any other phone for VZW other then the new Nexus has had as much dev support behind it.
I'm confident in the radio in the phone I'm getting, the guy had a pic of his phone with FULL 4G signal and he lives in Wilmington, NC. It's not often that you see all bars lit up in a 4G area, so that's great. Screen looked perfect with no scratches, he said he's never had an issue with it... can't complain on the price I got it for either.
I'll admit, if I end up returning the Rezound I am going to miss the excellent call quality, the beautiful screen, the sheer speed even with Sense and bloat installed... makes me want to hold onto it anyway and wait for s-off, then switch back to it. Even if it's a couple of months from now. I did pay full price for it though...
I've had a number of VZW smartphones over the last few years (Moto Q, Moto Q9m, Samsung Saga, BB Pearl, BB Curve, BB Bold, HTC Droid Eris, HTC Thunderbolt) and so far the Thunderbolt has by far been my favorite. My only complaint was battery life (only getting around a day with heavy use), but as long as I get a full day, I don't care too much. It's a little bulky (compared to my Eris), but once you get use to the screen size it's hard to use anything else. Finally, it has a great modding community, and is relatively simple to mod these days. I would definitely recommend this smartphone to anyone with Verizon.

Just to advise, the bars have nothing to do with 4G. The bars are voice signal strength indicators for cell service. the only indicator of 4G service is the 4G symbol..
You can have no bars and have great 4G service...

That's true, just feeling hopeful is all
I have owned my Thunderbolt since March 2011 and have had no issues. I really like this phone and have not even been tempted yet to look around at other phones. It has the perverbial buttload of features and I often wonder why it became the "red headed stepchild".. yeah there were issues at first that HTC/Verizon had to deal with but now that they are in the past, I think this is one of the better phones in the arsenal.
Mine is rooted and custom rom'ed .. no bloatware with my choice of everything possible instead of what Big Red tells me I want and that has a lot to do with why I like my phone.
I say if you can get a good deal then get one.
Got my Tbolt today, so far the phone is running great. No issues with anything at all on the latest OTA update. Not as quick or as beautiful as the Rezound, but I can manage easily.
Thunderbolt is a very good phone. Support(NotVZW) is great. Once i rooted the phone I can't put it down. The phone is stable, relatively quick and compared to newer phone smaller.
It's a great phone, but it seems all the devs are concentrating on the g nex now. Hopefully they don't forget about the bolt.

Excellent phone, hopefully they come out with a very good ICS rom soon.
I got a thunderbolt from cowboom.com tonight for $138 shipped and 30 day return policy. Used coupon code Holiday15 for 15% off only good until tonight (the 25th).
Ill be swicthing from a DX.
Does it cost extra for 4g?

Should I get the Sensation 4G from T-Mobile right now?

I like the Sensation because of its price, battery life, and its ICS ETA
But not sure if today it's the smartest choice when I can afford better CPU and RAM.
Few stuff concerns me...
1. How noticeable is the difference between 768mb/1.2ghz and 1gb/1.5ghz (Amaze/Galaxy S2 T-Mobile) ?
2. Whats about the difference between Sensation's "4G" card and Amaze/G2S's newer cards (42mbps) ?
3. Are there any known issues/bugs with the Sensation 4G right now?
Many thanks!
you have waited this long, might as well wait out a couple of more months and get the new htc one s.
Actually I'm looking for a new phone because mine bricked today, so I don't have time to wait.
i think at this time it would be better off to buy at craiglist unless u want to start a new contract. As info about htc sensation, I think it's a pretty decent phone, but like all android phone you need root to unlock the full potential.
Thanks for the fast replies !
I'm not concern about my contract or future phones on different carriers, my phone died and I really like to get a decent one on T-Mobile today (Monday).
I couldn't find any nice phone on craigslist, or in a reasonable price (usually not less than 80% of tmobile full price).
My dilemma is Sensation 4G (1.2ghz\768mb\14mbps) vs. Amaze\GS2 (1.5ghz\1gb\42mbps)
I'm not sure if those specs are just nicer on the chart or I can really feel the difference in daily use.
And the bottom line is the price tag, if it doesn't worth that, I don't want to pay more for that...
Sensation has a great community n dose the s2 the amaze is only in us also depends if ur rooting as at default the sensation is ment to run at 1.5ghz HTC underclocked it we have nice kernal to give the extra power
xxx best things come to those who wait xxx
thanks,
on stock configurations, are the amaze\sg2 noticeably faster ?
Get it right now. What are youwaitingfor lol

Bear in mind that the 42 vs 14.4 are Max possible speeds, not necessarily what u will actually get. That's influenced more by the towers capabilities and network load around you. I'd get the amaze, its newer, has the better radio in case ur area has the high speed towers, and it has nfc which seems to be coming around now. I'm currently trolling Craigslist for an amaze, but people around here want a lot of cash for them.

agreed go with the amaze. it seem like everyone wants top dollar for their amazea
!!senseless sensation!!
Get a new HTC One series device!!!!!!!!!!!
For instance the One S. S4-Krait. It'll outperform every other device with a dual-core and sometimes Tegra 3 devices.
With that device, you are safe for about ~2 years.
Honestly I have to say Sensation, just because of the hardcore dev support... We already got a One X ROM (Virtuous S4X) and a tonload more awesome ICS ROMs, so why not? The Amaze is slightly more powerful but you won't see the same great dev support as the Amaze. More dev support stops me from getting jealous when a new phone is out (hence why I got the Sensation, the MT4G dev community is really slowing down). As for the GSII.. Eh. Not too sure about it. I honestly dislike the T-Mobile variant of the GSII because of the hardware differences and the screwed up screen. The T-Mobile Sensation is the exact same as the international, aside from the radios and T-Mobile logo.
I just left the gs2 to come back to the sensation. The gs2 is great in terms of battery and reception. Only reason I went back is because of the dev support for this phone. All the roms for the gs2 T-Mobile are the same all stock based touchwiz roms
