I'm assuming that you're rooted because you said delete not freeze. It probably would have been wise to do a Titanium Backup of all that Tmo crapware before deleting. That being said, there are stock images floating around in the developer section, and if you have CWM installed, a NANDroid as well.
ya but sadly i dont have a micro sd card! it hasnt come in the mail yet! can you do it just with the phone?
You don't need SD card to backup with titanium use internal 8gb
You could always get them back from the nandroid or stock image in Dev section

How would you go about extracting apps from a .img file?? My bad they are probably .zip right..

You need root to complete this.
- Download the system dump in the Developer section
- Unzip that zip or tar or whatever compressed archive it is
- Connect your phone via USB
- Copy the files you deleted (or all of /system/app/) to your phone's internal SD card
- Use a program such as Root Explorer to copy the files you deleted from your SD card to /system/app/
- If you want to be thorough, set the permissions of those copied files to match those of the existing ones
- Reboot
ALWAYS take a nandroid backup before you make changes.
Here's a zip file that contains all of the bloatware that I removed. Use Titanium Backup to restore these. I haven't tried restoring, but it should work.

This is one of the least bloated phones available, period. In fact, the Nexus S is probably the only phone available new which has less.
Some of this stuff is useful.
Not all of this should be considered bloatware. Some of it can be useful. I actually had T-Mobile My Account installed on my Nexus One from the Market and use it often to check my bill. Two free games I don't consider bloatware. I enjoy NFS Shift and not sure why you consider a free game bloatware. The only apps on here I think is complete bloatware and not useful to some is TeleNav since everyone has a better navigation for free already and T-Mobile App Pack, which is just to buy stuff at ridiculous prices from T-Mobile. Other than that, I will probably keep most of the preinstalled apps and even backup the APKs for later install on CM.
I consider it all bloat, but that's just a personal opinion. If I want it I'll download it myself. Also the fact that it doesn't let you remove the bloat (unless you root) is most irritating, otherwise nobody would really care.

That is true for many of the apps, but they aren't all available on the market. I am all for removing ones you don't want, but I don't think it will matter for the average user. If they don't want them, they just don't open them. I have no problem with T-Mobile including apps they find useful personally. Ideally they would be uninstallable, but then some users would uninstall and not be able to reinstall and get angry. Take a look at a stock Verizon Android phone and you will be impressed with the G2x by comparison.

I was a little worried about it because i only have windows 7 64 bit and i read a couple posts that said it was iffy. Even so the guide worked like a charm.
I did read that i would need nvflash for a permanent solution as rom manager is a fakeflash.

For me, I just want to be able to control what I have on my phone. It's irritating that one has to go to such lengths to remove applications that one does not desire, but if T-Mobile had made them uninstallable and re-installable like any other app, this wouldn't be a problem. That being said, Wi-Fi calling is infinitely useful, but I deleted it along with everything else when I was testing possible battery drain fixes. I would have done a TiBu, but I'm learning along the way.

Ive tired MyBackup Pro and the apps it installs dont seem to get new updates.
Many apps (like handcent) dont keep any of there in app settings.
Ive heard Google backup works but not with root.

Titanium Backup rocks. It backs up apps & data, and restores the Market entries when it restores apps, so Market will show the updates. You can even back up system settings like the launcher (home screen) configuration. With the donate version it does even more cool stuff - highly recommended. It's one of the best apps out there for rooted phones.
So I can get those good features with the standard ?....but the PRO just makes it asier right ? ((seems like it says one touch install))

Mostly. If you ever want to do a batch restore (wiped phone?), the pro is well worth it. With pro you also get the ability to keep multiple backups so you can easily restore old versions/data, and it's faster.

Did it yesterday, and within 10 minutes i had my "Pro" email.
As for the usefulness? If you backup 100 apps having to click install every time is ANNNOYING. Well worth 4 bucks to avoid that pain! Plus its faster backing up too, so really a small price to pay for your time.
Also, the program is pretty awesome, so well worth supporting the developer.

With the excitement taking place in the Official Huawei Ascend thread regarding the successful nandroid backup process. I felt it might be a good idea to start a thread regarding what apps/bloatware can be SAFELY removed from both the Cricket version and Metro PCS. Which should start us on the path of custom roms/themes, better performance etc. I think this phone is going to be way more capable than what we thought, at least I hope that turns out to be the case.
This way the "Official" thread can stay on topic with the progress of nandroid, clockwork, and Amon-ra procedures. I am willing to make edits to my original post to reflect the removals that can safely be done for each phone.

A backup tool that is free in the market is Titanium Backup. I highly suggest using this as Wharmaster said it can "Freeze" the apps, essentially disabling the bloatware apps, but not removing them entirely so in the event something goes wrong you can just "defrost" them and put them back. As an original Droid user, I have been using Titanium Backup for a very long time, and this tool is highly valuable, as when you do a backup it not only backs up the app, but the data associated with it as well. Comes in handy when you restore Angry Birds and don't like the thought of loosing all your progress, not that Angry Birds plays well on the Ascend unfortunately, but as a Droid user I was very happy about having my data restored along with the application.
I know some of this may sound redundant to you seasoned veteran Android users, but some people coming here for the first time are entry level Android users and have picked up this economical Huawei Ascend phone. Knowing things like this is important until we get a final working nandroid backup process via Clockwork (Rom Manager) or Amon-Ra. So until we get a custom Rom that can hopefully be customized for the Huawei Ascend and a kernel that we can use to overclock it, anything we do to help speed up this little phone will make your experience that much better.
Wharmaster has also suggested a browser alternative in Miren, I have never used Miren myself but I am going to check it out and see if my son likes it.
Another browser I would suggest is Dophin Mini HD, it is free and has a smaller footprint than the full blown Dolphin HD browser, it seemed pretty snappy on the Ascend for the amount of time I tried it.

Thanks for the tip Wharmaster, I actually did this last night before I read your post. I was too afraid of removing something that might break the Ascend and then I wouldn't have a way to put it back.
I really hope those guys working on this phone dont give up and we get something really cool in the weeks to come!
If anyone else has any suggestions please feel free to drop a line here. There are quite a few Huawei Ascend users, and at the price point this phone is at I can only think the number of users is going to grow.
I know my kid likes his phone.
Personally his phone frustrates me, and I can't wait for something custom to make it a bit faster.
If any Metro users could post their bloatware or metro specific stuff that would be much appreciated.
The more info we have the better. It might help the devs with streamlining the ROM.

Make nandroid back up then:
1.First make sure you have another launcher program
2.Make sure canvas is NOT the default
3.Use titanium back up to freeze or uninstall the canvas app.

Strange, I froze poynt and my data connection went away, reset the phone still gone, unfronze poynt and it came back immediately...
But what else have you uninstalled or froze? You might want to restore them all and freeze just poynt...then test. Then unfreeze poynt and repeat that sequence with each app.
I would be interested to know those results.

Did you install Launcher Pro before deleting Canvas?
Okay, so my Droid X has been rooted for about a month now and I've been going happy-go-lucky with deleting bloatware off of my device. Thusfar I believe I've uninstalled the following: Amazon MP3 player, City ID, Kindle, News, News and Weather, Weather, Terminal Emulator, My Verizon Mobile, Skype, VZ Navigator, and Visual Voicemail. My first two issues relate to this.
#1- I went to Titanium Backup the other day I noticed as I was scrolling up and down the list that contactsunconnected.apk was frozen. I only have the free version of Titanium Backup so I don't even have the capability to freeze apps, so this baffled me. Anyway, when I noticed it I unfroze it and went along my merry way. When I restarted my phone afterward I noticed it was frozen again. I found out that it re-freezes it every time that I restart the phone. So...what the heck does that file even do? And is it okay to leave it frozen? Or should I unfreeze it ever time?
#2- AFTER I'd uninstalled all these apps I happened to be browsing some forums and I was reading that it wasn't a good idea to uninstall these apps, but rather..."freeze" or "rename" the apps so they wouldn't run, but they would still be accessible later on. I read the reason for them needing to be accessible is that if you wanna receive an update (like Gingerbread) in the future you still have to have ALL the bloatware that came stock with the phone. How difficult is it to get this bloatware back? Does anyone have a link to these files?
#3- This is slightly unrelated to the other two issues, but how do you guys feel about the stock Droid X file manager vs Astro File manager? I refuse to be redundant and have two apps that are so similar, but I've noticed that each one has some different strengths that the other doesn't. I really wanna get rid of one, but I'm not sure which one yet. Any suggestions?

3. I used to use astro, but once I got my droid 2 and titanium backup, there didn't seem much of a point to having astro any more.
4. What are 'your apps'? What do you mean by 'carries over'? If they came with the x, then they might rely on blur. If you downloaded them from the market, then they should work fine in fission. Either way, no custom rom will have everything you want, and moto roms will have more than you want.

Clockwork Mod was one of those and I had to redownload it just to be able to flash back to stock. Also, some of the other stock apps like Gmail, Email, and Messaging that I DO like didn't carry over. It was frustrating.

Not sure about number one at all, I never use that function in titanium.
Likewise, for number two, I'm always running a custom rom, so I never have to worry about that.

I have been around and around the G2x forum trying find a specific thread for app mods for the G2x. I have flashed a couple of times now and feel comfortable dropping zips to my SD card. I have two different areas of potential modding I feel I haven't tapped. First I don't change Roms a lot because of the time it takes to even get the phone aesthetically back to where it was. Second feel like I have modded to the potential of my G2x. Have changed the screen density but don't want to let my paid rooting apps to go to waste because I don't know how to use them correctly.

Maybe an example may help.
Iv'e found that there is the potiential to chage the buid.prop on our phones would be able to view netflix movies. I have Absolute system root tools and have usd that app and others but thats been 3 tweaks using 3 paid apps. Wish I knew more doable tweaks.
If anyone has any other root app tweaks I was hoping people would plop them here. Also is there any way I can flash a rom already themed.

I guess but if your follow up has me exploring for myself, between 5 kids and working no time to.
The abilty to customize this phone is almost unlimited. What do you want to do? I am stock rooted. Black taskbar. No problem. Freeze apps, try anttek app manager free. Better battery. Setcpu. Download to the phone, try download all files. Block ads, try adfree. What are you trying to do?

Well I barely use Titanium backup. I started using it more because the G2x is a powerhouse and I'm currently playing several games that require me to backup their save files. The paid version lets you backup multiple copies of the same app... which is useless to me. So I use the Free Version. As long as I can do 1 backup before I format, so I can restore afterwards.
Also Root Explorer is a god-send.... although while I did buy that I hardly have the need to download it EVERY time I flash. The built-in file manager from CM7 works well enough to navigate folders. I guess if you are changing your density it kind of requires it though.
The other thing I would download, is ROM Manager. It will check your Rom Version and alert you when there are new updates. It will download them for you, plus whatever else you need, and start the flashing process automatically (once you accept). Handy with CM7 nightlies because you DON'T have to constantly blow everything away... just flash the new nightly over an old one.

Go figure I'm backing up apps for a flash and I am lucky enough to catch the attention of a dev. Thanks every one for their replies. ^ I am asking this question, thank you again for answering. First the part about root explorer/file manager there is no one place to find a number of tweaks so i'm then midnight flashing (pun may be intended ) and by the time apps are downloaded titanium backed up im no longer interested and tweaks out side of screen density and Cm settings. Obviously Rom manager solves my time issues . I wont have to re theme and tweak right just a Rom flash? Can I use the one packed in CM7? Do you have any other root explorer/ root tools tweaks suggestions (part of root question) would love to read?
On your part with out knowing answered a lot of other questions I had.
Hello all.
I am new here and posted in the General folder because it wouldn't let me post in the android folder. My phone started doing this 2 months ago. Originally it started when I downloaded an app and then I got a window pop up and said 'Package file is invalid'. Now I am on my 3rd Triumph (returned for other issues) and the problem is still around. It seems like the problem follows my gmail account around. I only get this error with some of the apps. I need to know how to remedy this issue. I have read the other thread about this problem here

Phone info:
My Triumph is fresh out of the box ( just got another one yesterday, 10/1).
Dont know what ROM I am using.
Not rooted ( and dont want to void any warranties)
If you need other info, just let me know.
Most of the things mentioned in that post regard a modified rom, which you probably don't have (in other words, "my phone is stock"). The biggest question is whether you have tried restarting your phone lately.
The second biggest question? Where are you installing your apps from? If from the market, here are my troubleshooting recommendations. If not, correct me here or feel free to PM me.
Market acts goofy on the Triumph, and for that I blame Android. Try going into Settings> Applications> Manage and go to Market (usually under Running apps). Clear cache and force close, then see if the problem continues. Second time around, clear cache and clear data and force close, and try again. If problems still persist, uninstall all your updates and then see what your phone does.
I rather like the old Market because it didn't have that overpriced junk in it. Either way that refresh might be necessary.

I have not restarted the phone lately mainly because I just got a new one yesterday.
I use only the market to download apps.
I did all the things you said in the order you said them and I am now running the old market but it still doesn't let me download certain apps. With the old market the pop-up window doesn't say 'package file is invalid' it now says 'Download was unsuccessful, please try...' and I cant see the whole error message.
I haven't been using the Market long enough to know the one. I am new to the android game.

There is that way, but you will be breaking your warranty, since you need CWM and neeed to be rooted
Other Ways:
Go to settings, then applications, then go to market, uninstall updates(if you have)
or
Get titanium Backup(if you can), uninstall market, pull the Vending apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=320287&d=1272913729 inside /system/apps, put on SD Card, and install it.
If titanium backup wont(MAYBE NOT FULLY SURE) let you uninstall, then you need to be rooted.
Absolute Last Option that probably won't do much good is, factory reset.
Titanium Backup requires root anyway. Becoming rooted isn't hard, as long as you can download and run the app Gingerbreak 1.2. It isn't on the market, of course.
Although still, I find it strange you cannot just open certain apps. Are there any specific ones that do or don't work?

Yeah! If you use Gingerbreak V1.2, you can root, then unroot when you are done, they will never see it was rooted. ANYWAYS, they never check if your rooted when you return or exchange a smartphone, not even Virgin Mobile checks....

I got into crap with Best Buy because they checked, actually So yes, I would recommend getting rid of as many traces as possible... but yes, Gingerbreak is the meanest and cleanest method available on any of the three VM Android phones. At least, as of now.
They check WTH!?!?! What did they check for/what did you change?
I highly doubt that they dont check to see if someone did something to their phone that would void the warranty. Nevertheless I would like to not root the phone at least until I am sure I am keeping this one.
