Rooting HTC Desire Cdma - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey pretty new at this, Im really wanting to root my desire cdma with bootloader 1.06 but everything I find on the subject says it can't be done. Is this true? I surely hope not, someone please help these factory apps are killing me and I want to flash leedroid on my phone. Anything would be helpful. P.s. I've tried unrEVOvked and it didn't work, it gave internal error. Basically telling me my phone was still s-on..

Better late than never...
Try Revolutionary, HBOOT-6.06.1002. As far as custom roms for desire cdma (aka brovoc) go,I highly recommend Cronmod 1.0.0.5RC5 by Croniccorrey.I hope this helps you out, good luck

Few questions about rooting

Hi...
I want to delete some apps like stocks...and i know i need to be rooted for it...
But when i trien temp-root with free3vo...deleted some apps and they were never deleted...
I dont want to perma root cz i think then i wont be able to get updates from htc...
I dont want anything more then rooting cz i love sense and thats why i actually bought sensation...
But now my phone is getting slower and i think deleting stock apps will solve it...
Is there anything just like one click root or i have to wait for unlock bootloader...
And i dont even have drivers for my sensation on my pc...so if someone can provide it...ill so thankful...its not downloading from htc site.
Thanks..

Temp root with fr3vo will not let you permanently delete apps. They will just return upon reboot because they weren't really deleted in the first place. Trust me when I say that htc is not rushing to get updates out to us. Or any of their phones for that matter. People are on their Facebook page everyday pleading for updates. Devs are way more eager so your best bet would be to flash a custom rom because then you are guaranteed an update to the newest android. You can't root without unlocking your bootloader. You can do this at revolutionary.io. The instructions are at the top of the development thread. Along with the drivers. Just because you root doesn't mean that you can't have sense. We actually don't have a real "no-sense" aosp rom yet. Go ahead. Free your phone from htc's grip. Then you can delete at your heart's will.
Okk...so you mean i would have to s-off i think...and which is the best custom rom according to you with sense...and can i revert back to stock rom if i want??
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Yes s-off is the best option. The best you can do is do some research. Read the 1st post of the rom's thread and find out which suits you best.
Thanks...
But will i be able to revert back to original??

Once you have cwm you can backup your original rom. If for some reason you want back to original rom, you can restore it with cwm.
Thanks...but as i am a nood...
I tried s-off with revolutionary but it showed me sofe error communication with phone is intrrepted unepectdly try again later...so i couldnt s-off n cant even find some help on it..
So i thought the other way...first flashing the 1.45 on my phone then getting bootloader unlocked with the htcdev...
So guys can you plz guide me to most easiest and simplest guide to flash it...

New to Android here. Does CWM backup the original ROM in it's "pure" state, i.e. factory fresh? Or does it backup the ROM based on your phone's current state.
I'm coming from an iPhone, where the iOS files were easily accessible and I never made back-ups. I have so many questions about Android modding. This forum is filled with information, but has my head spinning.

Try reading the stickies on top of the development boards. Following directions also helps. I was able to s-off in one click, I don't see why you're having so much trouble.

I would surmise that its a backup of the phones current state. I was still s-offed after I restored my phone to my stock backup after a botched adb push.
Take it a day at a time, took me about a week to get up to speed on this thing. Learning how to use adb and knowing a few basic commands will make your life easier.

It is indeed a backup of the current state. You will be s-off as long as you don't take an update or change your bootloader. Your bootloader is not included in a backup as it is not necessary.

S-Off to S-On

I am completely new, I have an s-off ds, I want to turn s-on back on so I can update my phone to 2.3.5 any ideas how to, sorry if I seem dumb
I'm not sure why you would want to get S-ON just to have an official upgrade to 2.3.5 when custom ROMs already have 2.3.7, but I believe what you're looking for is in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231
Any other questions you might have can be answered by searching through the Desire S Android Development Forums
You can always browse through this Index for anything else worth mentioning. Hope this helps.
I would agree with previous post. Seen all the problems with official update? Much better off sticking with s-off and one of proxusers sense 3.0 ports. Or bindroid. Or coredroid. Any problems will be patched much faster than HTC.

I dont understand a word of what any of you said. I want it back to when I bought it. I dont understand any of this.
The fact is, there isn't a simple "one click and you're done" way to do this. So if you really want to do this, you're going to have to learn how to. The thread i linked is a good start, and the index thread in the development forum is also a great place to find guides on doing just about anything you might need. If all else fails, you could try and find someone in your area who's willing to do this for you, but I wouldn't depend on it.
Thanks for all the help. I took it back to store claiming software fault. They replaced my phone.

Smal problem here. I got a Desire S. I made it S-off can that be the problem. How to restore this?
Dude. Read other posts. Im new at this.

carrier: telstra australia
Hi, just a few more infos. Is the phone stock rom, custom rom? If is custom rom is something rong with it, if it's stock then you can send the phone back to HTC.Second option is to root your sensation and enjoy a custom rom, and the full power of your device.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710 using XDA App
it is the stock rom. but i had to send it in to telstra to get it fixed and they did a software update to it and thats when i started to get the problems. also what roms do you recommend.
Is nothing major rong with your phone. I reckon they done a bad flash, and it needs a reflash. But if you are looking to root your device and have a custom rom look here
http://www.htcsensationroms.com/
but first read here

and if you have a question just read between pages, you will find the answers because someone already asked before you. And if you don't find it just ask,the nice people at XDA will always help you.

Htc Sensation Boot Loop

Hello people of XDA, I know you must be thinking ''Geez, not again'' but I have spent a lot of time reading other threads full of bootloops but have not yet found an awnser to my problem.
I have just S-Off'd, Rooted, Clockworked, SuperCID my Htc Sensation this evening. And I tried getting ICS to work, but as stated in the title it didn't work for me!
I downloaded ''Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU'' from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
After trying to run that I have gotten stuck in the boot loop. I can still acces HBOOT and all, but cannot see my device on the computer. Also when I try to go in to HBOOT my phone automatically starts 'updating'
I hope someone is willing to guide me trough this
Thanks,
Wapstra
Seems like we are in a similar situation. My phone is bootlooping aswell and I think my situation was even worse.

Hi,
Please read THIS GUIDE
It is a complete guide to installing ICS.
You have the wrong kernel... Download the newest one... 3.32
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4g with Beats Audio
Thanks malybru. I'll look into that guide today ! And I'll let you know if it worked!
Thank you very much! It worked!
I don't like boot loops.
Could also be a cause that the rom isnt compatible with the firmware or vice versa
Sent from revolutionized HTC Sensation ICS
As ypu say the when you get into bootloader it starts updating....that means you need to do this:
Delete the PGxxxx(firmware) file from SD card, go into Hboot/bootloader and then to recovery...flash the rom....
Hope it helps.

Locked bootloader after hardware repair

Hi there people, firstly I would like to thank all the devs and xda users out there that have helped me in the past. Xda all the way.
Right, I have a proplem. I currently have a HTC sensation and more or less know everything there is to know about how it works, rooting, installing rims etc, as I have done this plenty of times before. When I bought the phone secondhand it was unlocked although still branded to Vodafone. I pushed it to the max with mods and upgrades but then came a hardware fault. Not sure what it was so sent it to HTC. I received it back good as new and was able to mod it again Luke before... One more hardware fault meant sending it off again. This time I received it as good as new, but now the bootloader is locked...and before you say anything, I have run the official htcdev unlock but no luck. Unlock token check keeps failing. I would like to root so I can install Roms and kernels as the stock os is really slow and I don't even need the HTC sense. I had it overclocked to 2ghz before, with the xe Rom with beats. Was great, but now I can't do anything... If anyone out there knows what to do, please let me know because I know a lot of people are having the same problem... It's due to a motherboard replacement or something that wasn't originally intended for unlocking so not on some list...

Your motherboard has been replaced.
HTC Dev unlock does not support the new motherboards.
Check your IMEI, it should have changed with the change in the motherboard.
Now, if you do want to enjoy all the benefits of having an unlocked bootloader, I can suggest an appropriate method if your can provide the details of your Hboot.
Yh I guessed that may have been the problem... My hboot is 1.27.. I now have s-off after countless attempts with juopunutbear, and wire trick... But I'm still not completely happy.. I havemy custom recovery and rooted Rom but I still can't use custom kernels for oc, etc.. any suggestions???

You are on JuopunutBear bootloader, right?
