Htc Sensation Boot Loop - HTC Sensation

Hello people of XDA, I know you must be thinking ''Geez, not again'' but I have spent a lot of time reading other threads full of bootloops but have not yet found an awnser to my problem.
I have just S-Off'd, Rooted, Clockworked, SuperCID my Htc Sensation this evening. And I tried getting ICS to work, but as stated in the title it didn't work for me!
I downloaded ''Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU'' from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
After trying to run that I have gotten stuck in the boot loop. I can still acces HBOOT and all, but cannot see my device on the computer. Also when I try to go in to HBOOT my phone automatically starts 'updating'
I hope someone is willing to guide me trough this
Thanks,
Wapstra

Seems like we are in a similar situation. My phone is bootlooping aswell and I think my situation was even worse.

Hi,
Please read THIS GUIDE
It is a complete guide to installing ICS.

You have the wrong kernel... Download the newest one... 3.32
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4g with Beats Audio

Thanks malybru. I'll look into that guide today ! And I'll let you know if it worked!

Thank you very much! It worked!

I don't like boot loops.

Could also be a cause that the rom isnt compatible with the firmware or vice versa
Sent from revolutionized HTC Sensation ICS

As ypu say the when you get into bootloader it starts updating....that means you need to do this:
Delete the PGxxxx(firmware) file from SD card, go into Hboot/bootloader and then to recovery...flash the rom....
Hope it helps.

[Q] Root with S-OFF

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and sorry if this question was already answered, but I couldn't find the answer to my particular question when I searched for it. I just recently got my Sensation for T-Mobile a couple weeks ago and rooted it but do not have the S-OFF because of the OTA update to 2.3.4 so I used the HTC unlock method. Is there any way I can get the s-off because I am finding it difficult to flash a lot of ROMs I want to try since a lot of them either never load or they just go into an infinite boot loop? Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm hoping I can gain more knowledge thru you guys since this was a big leap for me from a Blackberry 9700.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation and got the s off following the directions provided here on xda. Then installed Revolution HD. No issues with that either. I just followed the directions there also. Did it not work for u?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
No, it didn't work for me. My friend told me that the alpharev method used here on the forums wouldn't work because I downloaded the OTA update to 2.3.4 when I first received it out of the box. He told me that only the htc unlock method would work to root my phone but I wouldn't have S-off. My phone is currently rooted right now with no s-off so certain ROMs won't flash or they will butt I'll hey errors in them.
I find that strange. I'm no expert but my Sensation was running stock Android 2.3.4 before I rooted and it reads that s is off. I went to revolutionary.io/ download for Windows filled in the info for the beta key save the zip file and and launch it then enter the beta key. Then just follow the prompts from there. Did u do that?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Yup, I did exactly that a number of times but it didn't work. That's weird. Maybe someone else on here can help me get full s-off on my sensation. What's your service provider ? Cuz mine is T-Mobile and it came stock 2.3.3 but I did the OTA update and was able to root it but get no s-off
hi,
just to share my experience ... On Asian Starhub
i have updated to 2.3.4 via OTA before i root and s-off, and eventually supercid.
Followed the guide step by step.
The rooting , s-off and supercid process is smooth as butter ( as some dev quoted ).
Flashed Bulletproof 1.4 and now InsertCoin 3.3.0.
Perhaps u can provide more phone details like your current Hboot version and which part of the process you are stuck so that some experienced member can help u out easier.

Same here. 2.3.4 OTA and I am fully rooted with S-Off. Followed the guide step by step. Used Revolutionary.io with no problem. Be sure you enter your beta key in exactly, its case sensative. I'm also on TMOUS.

So it worked ok for the Sensation XE? I'm about to upgrade my phone from the Desire (s-off, root, leedroid hd 3.3.3 data++) and was wondering if the revolutionary route would work (really want the XE!). Had no issues at all with the Desire and would wait to upgrade if there were issues.
Thanks.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious or if this has already been covered, but did you first go to the HTC dev. site and follow their specific instructions for unlocking the bootloader? If not, do that first, then use Revolutionary to root/s-off, wipe your phone to factory (I always wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, too), then flash whatever ROM and kernel you want.
Let me know if that helps any.

Very cool. Can't wait to upgrade to this phone. Sensation looked great before, but these latest two (LE screen too big for my tastes) are looking amazing!
Ok guys, thanks for the input. I'll be sure to fill you in if I'm havng any difficulties...I'll try it again today.
I'm also on Tmobile 10 plus years. After following the steps and entering the beta key added the Su zip and it kept s off. You are prop missing something in between. Make sure u are entering the right hboot of your phone otherwise the beta key will be incorrect. Did u set up connection to HTC sync when u did it?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Ok guys, I tried getting s-off again tonite. Mind you my phone is already rooted but has s-on. I have a custom ROM flashed on it currently, I ran the revolutionary app and it suddenly closed on me and i also got an unforseen FC on the home screen of the phone. I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my stock rooted ROM and still the same thing. Suggestions? I saw on another post I should try doing this on a different computer. I tried different methods of connecting the phone via usb with mounting it as a drive, charge only, htc sync but to no avail. I did have htc sync running and it did sync up properly.
I tot we should uninstall HTC sync .... Only leave the HTC drivers alone ....
Maybe someone can advise on this ....

Yes, uninstall HTC sync, leave HTC drivers alone.

Is there specific drivers I need to install? It doesn't say in the guide.
When u install , then uninstall HTC sync . The HTC sync drivers will be removed but HTC drivers remains . That's the drivers we want to keep. Alternatively , u can just install the HTC drivers. But u got to search for it elsewhere. I think its HTC 3.7.0.01 drivers or something .... ( if I can remember correctly )

Why, if you're a n00b, did you try something you didn't understand? Surely common sense is to read up on it first?
We shouldn't panda to these people who have no interest in actually learning what it is they're doing and just tell them 'tough, figure it out for yourself'
Harsh, but it's needed. Might stop people blindly jumping into things they've not a clue about

erm, i tried that, but when im in terminal and i have to type adb devices my device does not show up, i think this is becuase i do not have USB debugging enabled, and i cannot get into my phone and turn it on. so what can I do now , any help is appreciated!
Try flashing back to an older RUU via the SD card, and then restoring your previous rom backup.
(And don't forget to delete the firmware off the sd card if you don't want it to update as soon as you boot into fastloader with the sd in).

[q] htc sensation xe - rom problem

Hi guys, i've looked everywhere for the similar posts & i can't seem to find one!
Please bare in mind this is just a general interest as i no longer have the phone!
Sorry in advance if there is one!
Right, a few months ago i had my HTC sensation XE (with beats audio)...
Orginally came with Gingerbread and i updated to ICS successfully.
A few weeks passed and i decided to read up on rooting my sensation.
I went through the process of rooting and flashing recovery etc and that went through all fine, then i became interessted in ROMS.
I created a nandroid back-up in CWM recovery just incase anything went terribly wrong - which it did - the phone got stuck on HTC start up screen... wouldn't move from there. I kept restarting to see if it'd be nice and start up but it never did. So i panicked i started trying to run RUU's, flash my nandroid back up.. all of which were successful, but still stuck on the htc screen?
Any ideas what i done wrong?
I'm getting a HTC One X today and i'm considering rooting, i really don't want the same thing happening again!
All ideas i'd be happy to read!
Thanks!
Did you use the correct firmware for the rom? Ics takes 3.32 firmware. If you don't flash the correct firmware it will cause big problems.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Good question, that could be why- i literally tried so many rom's and ruu's and tricks to try and get it past the htc screen.
Do you think it's worth me Rooting my HTC ONE x?
Thanks for the reply x
When you do that you should update your firmware but sense you didn't it caused a boot loop and when you try to go to your nand back up you lost your boot.IMG thats why it won't boot extract from the zip file and place it in the same folder that contains your adb driver and fastboot and typ your commands to get your fastboot driver working and then typ fastboot flash boot boot.img when thats done typ fastboot reboot and watch the magic and you must have a copy of the zip on your pc or laptop meaning the Rom you made nand back up of

Best to ask that in the One X forum IMO as they can comment on the custom ROM's better of course.
I'd say depends if you're happy with the stock ROM. If you are and don't need the root features then leave it.
Otherwise go for it.

Its always worth the root...I've tested the one x on the stock rom and it ran buttery smooth....I believe it can only get better with a custom rom.

HTC Sensation ROM issues

I wasn't able to S-OFF my phone because my phone is on 1.27.000 but i did unlock it through the HTC dev way.
my issue is that the only mod that seems to work on my phone is cyanogenmod9 and nothing else has been able to work on my phone.
I tried to install ordriod, the Pegasus rom, anything that seems to reall run with the Sense 3.6 won't run it will just stay stuck in the boot screen
I've looked all over the Q&A forums and I can't find anything that will give me an answer on what to do...
Please let me know this because I really preferred the other roms to cyanogenmod9 its just not for the sensation like the others are

If I recall correctly, having s-on and being HTC dev unlocked, you need to flash the rom and then flash the boot.img separately through fast boot, in order for the rom to boot.

Hi,
Yes,it should be fine.
You wouldn't have had that boot loop problem had you flashed 4ext custom recovery and enable smart flash that way you wouldn't have to extract the boot.IMG and flash via pc

[Help] Installing Rom

Hey there!
I'm new in this forum so yeah, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. So, here I go.
I have the HTC Sensation 4G and I'm trying to install the ViperS Rom 1.6.3 but I have a problem. I do everything, leave things at default, etc. but when it finishes installing and everything I get stuck at the Boot Animation Screen and it won't do anything else. So I would like to know if there's something else I should do to install it and make it work.
My HTC Sensation 4G has root access and everything else already. I backed up everything before installing the room, but everytime I try, I get stuck at the same screen and it does absolutely nothing.
Is there some kind of tutorial or step-by-step topic about how to install a Rom with suggestiongs or things like that? I'd really love to make it work but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I hope someone can help me because I'm going crazy! haha x)
Thank you,
Erick
