Need help unlocking my Captivate - Captivate General

I tried to unlock my Captivate through Generate unlock windows and it doesn't work for me. I have the driver installed, debugging activated. Then i mounted the phone with the computer and ran the Generate Code.bat file but that give me a an error. "Unable to find file <.\nv.data.bin>
I have Firmware ver. 2.1-update1, Baseband ver. I897UCJH7. I read many of the article and saw the videos on youtube but i couldnt figure it out. I tried the steps in the link below, downloaded terminal emulator on the phone and typed those commands but still no luck. I I don't know if my phone is rooted or not. How do i check that? Regardless, I tried to root and it failed saying, update.zip was not found during recovery mode.

Have you tried galaxy s unlock by helroz on the market? Ive done it myself and it worked for me so i recommend u try it out and also to check if your unlock the code is *#7465625# and the network lock should be the only one on after you done the helroz unlock it should be off and you can use the phone with any.network ive tried it with tmo and also my captivate is on froyo 2.2 official rooted deodexed voodoo. Try it out and let me know how it goes

When you go to root, make sure usb development is enabled in applications, usb. Then install busybox from market after you have root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

root with....
[APP]SuperOneClick v1.9.1 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App) - xda-developers
and what the guy above me said.
and the guy above him for unlocking.... i used the same thing.

I tried to root the phone this way but it did not work for me. I followed all the steps correctly and i got a FAILED message in SuperOneClick after pressing Root.
And yes i did try Galaxy s unlock from the market but i don't think i am rooted so it doesn't work.
I couldn't root the phone but i was able to retrieve the unlock code from the SuperOneClick Application. I clicked on the "Captivate" tab and then "Get Unlock Code"
SO thank you everyone for helping. Keep up the good work guys.

[Q] Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 problems

Hey guys,
I just used a flashtool to upgrade to android 2.1 today since the official upgrade isn't available yet. Everything is working well, except i'm not able to use 3g. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me remedy this problem, or at least tell me what I probably did wrong? I'd really appreciate it.
The official upgrade is out there. Plug your phone into your computer and update from the se software
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have the X10a. and whenever I plug it in to use the PC companion for upgrade it said my phone was up to date even with android 1.6. Was I missing something?
Alright i figured it out. I just needed to add the att apn infornation to the phone. Aftet that it worked like a charm
Helllp!
I have been trying to root my x10a. I managed to get to the point where superuser is on the phone but it does nothing. I tried to update the superuser as the message went something about 'bin v su' and update but the update failed. I tried to use superone click and got it to state that root files are in the phone now, but I tried to use titanium backup and it says must be rooted. I spent the last few days forum hopping to find a solution, downloaded SDK setup and all platforms and tried to manually put in code from the cmd.exe and it gives me something about adb is not recognized as a command. I googled the error and tried some of the recommended fixes at sxeveral sites, but I have had no luck with instituting superuser to full function. I am sure I am doing something wrong but I know I'm close. HEY YOU GUYS! (electric company on PBS)

The official upgrade is not out there in all markets. SE is setting a record for the time frame required to diseminate an upgrade globally. Comical.
You have to input the APN Settings for your carrier manually.
I do not understand and I intend upon putting 2.1 in it after its rooted, but it tells me that I need to flash into recovery for SU, but I can't back up the phone without proper root...or can I? Please more info. I generally do not ask for help, but I am in up to my nostrils with this and I want to succeed. I have tried superone click, I downloaded androot, but i CAN'T EVEN GET THAT TO RUN. Several others and manual. So do I flash from here? with no back up? and if so, how to flash to recovery, please. thanks.

If you are on 1.6, then SuperOneClick will not work. You need to be up to 2.1 for SuperOneClick to work. I do not know Androot though.
Thanks I will search how to input the APN and check in from here.
OK, I am trying to root my X10 and this is the first time that I have tried to do something like this. I am on step 2 of a guide which is to enable USB debugging and run 2_root_system, but every time I try to do it, it says "Error: Device not found" please help as I did the flash downgrade to start the process and my phone is really basic right now.
Thats very similar to the issue I'm having. Its related to the USB driver. However, I can't seem to find the USB driver to talk to the phone so that the root can be sideloaded to the phone.
im from india, i hav an unlocked at&t grey market piece. It shows on my PC companion dat d latest software is installed on d fone. how do i g8 it from 1.6 to 2.1 o betta?

captivate network unlock

I just want to make sure the following steps are correct to unlock carrier network before I start messing around with my new samsung captivate.
1. Use one click root
2. Flash Clockwork Custom Recovery
3. Lastly follow the [REF] How to unlock/unfreeze all SGS Models [NOW WORKS ON Vibrant 4G] post.
What is the purpose of step 2? why do I have to flash some custom software? And how stable are the updates after 2.2 update? I am wondering if I should even mess around with CyanogenMod 7, which is a mod, as far as I understand, that updates the phone to android 2.3
I tried researching on these topics but there is such a bulk amount of information that it's kinda hard to consolidate everything and fully understand it. Help out a noob!
After you root your phone, just download the Galaxy S Unlock from the market. Follow the steps on there, which is pretty much just a click and a reboot, and you're unlocked.

actually I forgot to mention, but I am taking this phone to Europe and I don't have a SIM that works in the US to access the market.
try to connect to internet from a wifi connection and download busybox and sgs unlock by helroz.
step 1. Root your phone
step 2. download and install busybox from market.
step 3. download and install run sgs unlock by helroz. then follow the steps in the screen. with this app you dont need another simcard, it is simple and easy
now you can enjoy.

sorry for my english
and
sounds good
I could never get that unlock app to work for me. Works only on 2.1 right?
Worked on my stock 2.2
Works on every ported I9000 GB ROM I've tried so far too.

Hmm im stock 2.2 just rooted all I get is a bunch of F's
Theres a number code you put it (like you calling) I forget what that number was, but you put it in then a screen will come up saying if "Network Lock" is "[ON]" or "[OFF]"
If it says it is off then it does not matter if all u see is FFFFFF, you phone is unlocked. Same happen to me, I'm on T-Mobile right now.
Ya I know, it still says network lock on. I have an nv_data.bak file on my phone that says the size is 40.00 M in Astro file manager. Seems awfully big, but anyway. Ya, cant get it to work. No big deal I guess, no plans on going to T-mob, just wanted to show my aunt that she should can get this phone and use it on T-mob, her carrier.

Got root?.
1.root using superoneclick- make sure you download the one with the tool package included. you can do it on your pc if you have no market access. clshortfuse thanks.
2.unlock with helroz's program- you can get that without market access. thanks helroz
Note: you will need busy box and a wifi connection to run helroz's app.
i downloaded both of the above on my pc (apk files) then put them on my phone. i went to a hotel and got a wifi connection then ran helroz's program.
i unlocked in china with no sim. works like a charm. Trusselo gave me some good advice which is very simple: read the instructions for the superoneclick and unlocker. cant say this enough. also, donate to the developers. i donated and my johnson grew three inches.

can you please point to those apk files?
google "superoneclick CLShortFuse" then google "Galaxy_S_Unlock helroz" both results will lead you to the xda page which will lead you to the places to download the apk files. i had this problem in china with no market access and it worked for me. note: you will have to find a wifi connection for helroz's unlocker to work. both programs are super easy to use. if this helps please hit my thanks button. if you have any problems, you can pm me. i am a noob but i will try to help any way can.
also, if you get those apk files and they work, it is polite to donate to the developers. they have a little button that accepts paypal. those guys are really cool and even a small donation is a kind way of saying thanks.

[Q] Droid 2 Global rooting?

Ok, so not to long ago I recieved a notification saying that my Droid 2 Global ws due for an update. My thoughts were "YAY!! NEW STUFF!!!". After I updated it I found out about phone rooting and I did some research on it. I came to the conclusion that I was going to root my phone no matter what. But I have tryed everything I came across. Which was only Gingerbreak, z4root, Petesoneclickroot, and I think thats about it.... Anyways none of those work.
When I tryed the Gingerbreak it would say its rooting but I left it there for like 3 hours while I watched a movie and it still wasnt done... I knew it wasnt going to work because it said it would take "2-3 minutes, 10 minutes at the max".
With the z4root I would install it and click on it and click Pearmanet Root. It would load for a little then it would just stop and go to the home screen of my phone. When I clicked the app again it would say it force clossed and after that it just would not open when I clicked it.
With the Petes one click root it would be going all well until it came to the rebooting stage. Once my phone shut off and started back up it would go into bootloader. And it would stay like that...
Just so you know what my phone is running and stuff its:
Model Number: DROID2 GLOBAL
Android Version: 2.3.3
If theres anything else you need to know just ask and please someone tell me and option to root my phone.
z4root and Gingerbreak won't work.
As it was described multiple times, DROID3 ADB exploit works. Pete's one-click motorola root tools should work; although it might fail if you had z4root.
i was
success to root using superoneclick 2.2(zergrush)
I used Pete's Root Tools for my D2G several times with no problems. It's pretty straight forward. You might need to SBF, because those other apps probably narsed up your ROM.
Also make sure you have the most recent drivers from Motorola. I have heard of problems being because of old drivers. Rootzwiki has some great user/dev threads on installing cm7gb. I would go there and follow the directions you find. Like the others said you may need to sbf to get a factory/known good state.
Remember: double & triple check everything before getting stuck up a creek. And make sure you have a way back before you start down that road...
D2G CM7GB
just used peters root tool.
worked excellent for me
If i had been rooted and then the update unrooted my phone. how can i gain root access. furthermore is their an app and lastly can i do it on a mac?
Look for DROID3 one-click root scripts. There's a version for Mac. This has been discussed many times, and can be found with a quick Google search, too.

[Q] New to forum need some help.

Hello. Im brand new to xda. I see this is the place to come for android help. I recently acquired an HTC Inspire 4G from a buddy of mine. It was bricked. After alot of googling I figured out how to restore the stock rom. I was successful. I liked the phone so much I decided to switch over from the unmentionable phone I had been accustomed to using. I did some research and decided to attempt to root the phone. I followed the instructions I found in a thread here. I used the Easy Ace Root Tool. The root failed. After it had me upgrade the rom on it it said "Your version is no longer supported. You will be e-mailed when support is available". Now I can no longer bring up the bootloader. Any idea on what I can do to get it rooted?

You must disable fastboot in order to access the bootloader.
settings > power > uncheck fastboot

I was actually successful in unlocking the bootloader. I figured out the fastboot today. The problem im having is the root fails. It says something about adb being outdated. It fails at achieving temp root. Says permanent root is achieved at the end but when I run the root checker app it says its does not have root access.

Trying to root Kyocera Hydro Wave model C6740N

Title pretty much says it all. I've tried countless one click root programs with no progress whatsoever. I've spent hours searching and nothing comes up for this phone. Does anyone know a way to root this thing??

same here, a guy who works for kyocera told me that this model cant be put into recovery mode. Any help appreciated
I'm joining the request. As stated above, I've combed the web for anything on it with no success. Is this because of the fairly new release? Or possibly the trouble they're in because of Microsoft?
Either way I feel there should be an exploit out for it by now...
I too am looking fir an exploit for this device, and have scoured Google, Bing, and Yahoo, only to find nothing.

This model (Hydro Wave C6740N) CAN be put into Recovery Mode, using ADB.
Since Windows (edit: XP) USB drivers for the C6740N Wave are not released by Kyocera (yet), you (edit: can) use a Linux or OS X machine to connect using USB, to use ADB on the C6740N. (Since USB connection to C6740N "just works" on those platforms.)
I have used ADB on a Macbook running OS X to reboot my Hydro Wave into Recovery Mode, and performed cache wipe successfully. Also performed backups using ADB.
Kyocera advised (via email) that the Wave can be put into Recovery using Volume Down + Power key combo. Not true, the key combo does not work.
Kyocera also advised (via chat) that the Windows USB driver for any Hydro family device will work for the Wave. Also not true (I tried it). (Edit: I tried the drivers with Windows XP. It looks like the Kyocera Windows USB drivers may simply be USB modem drivers only, on any case.)
OS X or Linux using ADB is the ticket, no USB driver necessary. (Edit: But see other posts about using Windows 10 too.)
I'm also keenly interested in rooting the C6740N, but an absolute noob. The C6740N has a lot going for it, but a few shortcomings that root would enable resolving. If anyone knows of a way to root it, we would be most grateful to hear about it.
Tried about everything else too and nothing works
There's a working driver in Windows 10, but KingoRoot still fails. I almost tried King Root, but it's all in Chinese. I was going to try Framaroot but gave up when the download link resulted in an endless survey loop to win a free $100 Visa card (yeah....... GO F**K YOURSELF). I really want to root this thing. MetroPCS has this thing loaded full of bloatware and the Google BS I never use (google+ MUST DIE) is just eating storage space and what tiny bit of RAM is left. It's a nice phone but the inability to overclock the CPU, delete bloatware, and turn my 4GB SD Card into RAM really leaves alot to be desired.
The phone can be put into recovery using adb on windows.but that's as far as that goes.Cant find any way to root.Hope we get one soon.
So I think we should make a list of what root methods that did not work. That way we wont get hassled of what does not work
Kingo Root: FAIL
Towelroot: FAIL
Framaroot: UNKNOWN
King Root: UNKNOWN (Can't read Chinese)
Could you use a kill file that would reset all data including disabling some things
Root genius fails
King root fails
Kingoroot fails
Iroot fails
Framaroot fails
Towelroot fails
I'm thinking you gotta unlock the boot loader , but I can't put into fast boot mode or boot onto the boot loader for any adb fastboot commands to work. I can get to recovery in adb , and in the recovery menu I select boot to boot loader but it boots normally. I really want to root this thing!!
I just noticed that they're are any way to root the latest lolipop unless your on 5.0.2 ( BTW I checked kingroot and checked the request of our device and its almost to 1000

If he rooted the phone he sent the reply from, he's unfortunately in the wrong thread. The C6530N is the Hydro Life. We're trying to root the C6740N which is the Hydro Wave. Thanks for getting our hopes up.
On the other hand, if he's using the Hydro Life to post in the forum but has successfully rooted the Hydro Wave, we would all love to know just how you did it. My Hydro Wave is running worse than an Alcatel Evolve on the stock setup. We need root badly.
Speaking of root exploits such as Framaroot, see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...droid_users_creates_hijackable_global_botnet/
Which links to the original exposé:
https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2015/09/guaranteed_clicksm.html
...which notes that this Android botnet malware uses Framaroot and other root exploits. I wonder if some of these Chinese root exploit tools themselves (Framaroot, Kingoroot, etc.) carry a hidden malware payload.
....
Hi I've tried everything also but I also tried this program for tablets called zuse toolkit & it seems to get something through cause it reboots & optimizes or upgrade apps I'm not too sure which one but if someone out there knows how to modifie the way this zuse toolkit roots then maybe we have a chance of rooting this new phone oh & after it optimizes or upgrades the apps I check for root permissions and it still says it does not have root permissions so yea...
