Flashing "remove sense" zip on BAMF 1.5 non-themed - Thunderbolt General

I want to flash the remove sense zip (http://www.multiupload.com/bfwu22b02z) located in the BAMF 1.5 REMIX thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027804). I am currently running BAMF 1.5 non-themed. To do this, create a nandroid backup, place the zip on the root of my sd card, and flash through recovery, correct? Do I need to rename the zip or leave as is? Also, do I need to wipe anything first?

I always do a Nandroid backup but other than that just flash it. No wipe needed.

Stupidity strikes.

Being careless and impractical, I attempted to load a theme onto redemtive revolution 2.3, but the theme used the old scripts, so I switched my recovery image from cwm to amon ra and just flashed the zip. The problem is it was incompatible and now I am stuck on the htc incredible splash screen. All of my backups are with cwm and not amon ra. I have tried wiping data, but no luck. Is there a way to move my cwm backup file to a spot where i could flash it via amon ra?
Also, I have tried flashing roms I have on the sd card and no matter what I try to flash it hangs on verifying update package.
All the cwm backups are stores under clockworkmod>recoveries you can just copy and paste into wherever among ras folder is

I have tried to do that but have no amon ra file as I had never really used it. I know the folder name would have been nandroid so I made the folder myself, but when i hit the backup, labeled rr2.3 stock, it opens that folder into the different parts, ie cache and data and recovery. I figure if I could restore clockwork mod through this i will be golden but when i select that it tells my to run "nandroid-mobile.sh restore" via adb
HA! For reasons unknown, Virtuous 3.2 managed to complete the install. Once that went through I flashed back to cwm and then restored to my backup. Idk why that file would work but the other two ROM's i tried kept hanging on the install. Oh well. Crisis averted.

3 simple questions

i have just installed the virtuous unity rom v.1.29. its amazing
1. when i update to the new installment will all my data be wiped such as apps etc?
2. ive seen some kernal, unity something do i need to flash this aswell?
3. ive backed up my previous stock rom on my sd card. is it possile to move the clockwork folder to the computer which contains the back up and then move it back if i need to restore?

1. A flash over the top with no wipe will keep your apps. If however the dev has done an update with a new base, a wipe is recommended.
2. Do a nandroid backup and try the kernel. I get fantastic battery life on coredroid with it.
3. Yes but NEVER rename the folder else it will never restore. It will fail on md5 checksum error.

If you wanna backup your apps, use Titanium Backup. It's awesome, use it all the time. It also backs up data.
Also, you need to manually wipe all data before you flash
Kernel is optional, but you should try it.
About the backup - put it in the PC, i have. If you ever wanna delete the backup from your phone but want to keep it on your PC, then delete the contents of the backup folder in the phone, not the folder itself. I have 2 backups on my phone right now. Consumes waaaaay too much space. Got 5 on my PC
OK..... So if I use titanium backup now for some apps and install another Tom it will be there even if I wipe data and stuff?

So with virtuous unity does it reproduce the same battery life as stock

no. You need to restore the apps.

[Q] Rom Manager Help!!

Okay so I have read a bunch about rom manager and have tried working with it. I have 2 questions about it:
1) I am not able to do a proper restore with it. I want to flash different roms but I would like to keep completely seperate folders on my sd card for each rom.
So I am wondering, after doing a "backup current rom" and then putting the entire sd card directory on my pc (which has the clockworkmod folder with the backup in it), then going and screwing up my phone , and finally wanting to restore with cwm recovery, do I have to put all the original folders (that were on the sd when I did the backup) back on the sd card and then hit restore, or can I just put the clockworkmod folder back on the sd and hit restore?
Also, I have another question: if I have cwm recovery already in the kernel I am using (Cog5 Beta 2), do I really need tibu and rom manager, or can I pretty much flash, completely restore, and completely backup roms (and all other settings) through the cwm recovery?
Could someone who is familar with cwm and has actually restored successfully using it help me out, please?? (yes I have read other stuff-but can't find anything about this!)
Cog5b1-3 do NOT work restoring from cwm at all so rom manager wont restore either. It MAY not even backup the rom correctly. As much as I liked Cog5b3 I HAD to switch back to Apex so I can ACTUALLY BACKUP AND RESTORE from cwm if necessary. I KEPT the i897 bootloaders and flashed Apex Full with wipe.

Aww... yea i guess im gonna have to switch then.
So ur saying u use Apex - how is that compared to cog5?
Also, I'm thinking it will be unnecessary for me to keep tibu and rom manager as long as I have a kernel with cwm (b/c i will bakup, flash, and restore with it) - so what kernel are u running?
Finally, would u be able to help me with the whole "do i need to backup the entire sd directory or can i just backup the cwmod folder" thing??
Don't use ROM Manager. That is all.

How to go from Rom to Rom??

Ok so I'm on AOKP build 40 (Rooted,Unlocked) If I wanted to go to another Rom, how do I go about doing it? Do I simply just download the new Rom files and flash over whatever Rom I'm on??
Wipe everythhing

You will want to first back EVERYTHING up...your data, your apps through titanium backup or whatever backup app u wish to use.
Before booting into recovery, ensure the rom zip file to be flashed is downloaded and saved to a safe location.
Then boot into recovery and do a nandroid backup through the backup/restore menu. Once done, then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache in recovery.
Then flash from zip file, and choose your new rom zip file and flash away.
You will probably want to look at the post for that specific rom you will be flishing in the dev section first before flashing Some roms have specific flashing instructions.
well with rom manager you could just flash it over but i only did that on my mytouch4g did for like 10 roms. but sense it a tablet i would do a clean install (delete everything)

Question regarding backups

Hi
Yesterday i wanted to check out a new Rom. So i did a Backup in cwm 5. I flashed the new Rom, After wipeing and factory Reset. Off course i did not touch fat32.
When i restored my backup it looked like a complete fresh install.
Can anyone explain what happened???
Really...no ideas at all?

Could you explain fresh install? I mean fresh install of your old rom or the new one.
I'm really still new to flashing but i think if you do a nand backup you backup your entire old rom.
Still one tested advice, next time backup your apps with titanium backup, copy backup on pc, wipe all, install rom, format sd card, after that restore apps using titanium backup, i think thats as clean and tidy as it gets. You don't need to format sd card but its cleaner that way.
Hope it helped.
P.S: Some roms (especially ICS and JB) need the partition to be formatted as ext (extended) partition still idk if a rom will automatically format the partition, my bro nedded to manually reformat using cwm, i didn't really follow the process when i was adding my ics rom but i didn't need to repartition, at least not manually.
By fresh install i mean like if you just flashed a rom without doing any configuration or installing anything.

Well it is a new rom, what you backed up as far as i understand is your old rom with settings, so it's just normall for the new rom to be fresh installed.
