Hi;
I was looking for a good media player for my HTC Trinity WM5 based Pocket PC. Someone advised TCMP which I downloaded and installed, it plays one of the files but the whole screen becomes very distorted and is in the most unwatchable.
The file is an mpeg1 file.
I just did a search on Google and it says its compatible with MP3, WMA, WAV, AC-3, ASF, AMR, Ogg Vorbis, DivX, XviD, MPEG1, MPEG4-SP, WMV, AVI.
Its should play fine but it is very tempermental TCMP is also discontinued.
I also have an mpg2 file that i`d like to play, any ideas on an alternative.
Ta
coreplayer is the comercial followup to the discontinued TCMP
As far as i know the TCPMP is also available as freeware ... it changed the name to Beta Player: http://betaplayer.com/
But, there arent any news about a release of this player Still waiting for a long long time ...
first it was named betaplayer then they changed it to TCMP
then they made a commercial version called coreplayer
no new development have been don to the old one since that i know of
and if they changed the name back to the original one that too is news to me
I've fixed my problem, I did another search in these forums and found a guide on installing TCPMP there is a second .cab which I had not seen before, the player now works flawlessly.
Only problem is installing TCPMP this time knocked out thd Bassfix that I had run, so now the sound is tinny again.
I'll run the Bassfix again and see how it goes.

Isn't i easier to shell out the $20 for the commercial CorePlayer than waiting? These devs surely deserve the financial support (too).

Actually there is a trial version
I don´t remember where on this big and great site I found it...
The only complaint I don't like about Core Player is: it does not support sub titles. So I still have TCPMP installed so I can watch movies with srt subtitles.

There is NO trial version of CP. If you're referring to the 1.1.1 Coreplayer.CAB file posted by some people on the XDA-Devs forums, it's a cracked, pirated copy.
Please also report occurrences of people posting this CAB file. It is a pirate copy and posting it should be sanctioned.

Yeah, sure, the same I say. Nevertheless, it's still way above everyting else particularly when it comes to video playback efficiency and compatibility. That is, it can be safely purchased even w/o trying it first - as long as you don't want to play back an unsupported format (e.g., RMVB) or don't want unsupported features like subtitles.

Ok I'll trust the reviews...
I'm on the list for the Beta2 but I can't wait until summer.
Are there any browers that support YouTube in a similar manner as SkyFire?
If you are waiting on skyfire for Youtube you will disappointed.. Get coreplayer its much better for that.
My 2 choice for you tube : ( Not browsers )

You have to download the FLV though don't you? I want something that streams.
Also, I want it to be able to play embedded video.

No embedded operation (yet). However, it works with the plug-in, should your want to prefer it to the old TCPMP
The Fuze records videos in the MP4 format and I can't get the video to play on my computer. When I try it returns the following error message;
'error 2041 an invalid sample description was found in the movie (video0002.mp4)'

well I found a workaround yesterday which is too long for me to be doing constantly but I uploaded the video to youtube and then used one of those youtube online converters to turn the movie in to a regular mp4 (the mp4 that gets made by the phone is strange and won't play)
All you have to do to play the video with QuickTime is to rename the file, replacing the .mp4 suffix with .3gp.

Mplayer is nice
Act 1 video player is pretty good. Pause and play with a tap of the screen and ff or rw by sliding your finger forward or backwards. full screen works great on the nexus.
Personally I just use the built in media player, works in fullscreen and gets the job done just fine.

Ok I give, where is this video media player? what is the app name on the N1?
if your movie isnt playing in full screen, then you didnt encode the movie to the correct resolution. encode your movies whether they be rips or mkv's, make sure you encode at 800x480 mp4, 24fps, AAC 96, good to go. if you have no idea what i'm talking about, then do more reading

It's called "Gallery." Your videos are listed alongside your pictures. Or choose a video with any file browser.

Yeah, I should've mentioned where it was, not exactly intuitive in my opinion. As carnegie0107 says it's the gallery app. I had actually installed Act 1 Trial because I couldn't find the built-in one and when I launched a video file from a file browser it asked if I wanted to open it in Gallery so I gave it a go and it worked like a charm. So no need to spend money on a video player unless it adds support for more codecs
Act1 is great. I had a 640*480 video that needed to be stretched to the full 800 pixels for proper viewing and Act1's full screen mode did the trick. It also shows battery level and time without being obtrusive and has quick access to brightness controls.

No. It doesn't work. I hope it has a video player like apple's. After click a key, the picture will be stretched at top and bottom. The left and right side will be cut a little. Note screen is 1280*800, but the 720p is 1280*720. if have this, it will be full screen.
Try MX Video Player it has extra codecs and such. Runs fullscreen, easier fast forward and rewind.
Unintentionally sent from my Nexus One using xda Premium app.

Tried all five codecs, I think the 'crop' mode should work, but it's same as full screen, there has a problem.
Ok guys, i hope that there's somone around here that will understand me somehow. I like to watch my anime series on my Nexus 5, but the problem is that MXplayer doesn't play the ending and the opening of them . Most of the times anime are packed with the OP and ED in to files apart to save memory, on my PC this isn't a problem (I use MPC-HC with KCP codec pack) but MXplayer doesn't support a "script" maybe and every episode has neither OP nor ED. Maybe i simply don't know how to set this up, is there someone who knows how to get this to work??

Did you check subtitle track button? It is speech balloon button on the top right corner of the screen.

Maybe he's referring to ordered chapter support where the OP and ED of all episodes of a series is in a separate file. VLC for android supports ordered chapters but is unwatchable because ones the OP/ED starts, only the audio will play. I dont think that MX player will support this feature because probably 1% of all mx player user wants to have this

Yes, this sounds like what he's referring to. Considering that MX Player doesn't yet have chapter support (afaik), this seems like it's a long ways away.
The point of removing the OP/ED from the individual episodes is to make more efficient use of storage space. Adding them in individually will require a significant amount of time invested in reencoding the episodes and thus not worth it.
@LunarisDream is probably right, in that he's asking about MKV ordered chapter support. Currently this isn't implemented yet!
It's already on the feature requests list as high priority #6.
@reimart660 it's definitely more than 1% that want this feature.

Hi, I'm using MX to watch animations too.
I don't think what @Enri1196 want is ordered chapter support.
Here is the scenario about OP/ED in this case.
An episode have Opening/Ending song and sometimes they were divided into 3 files.
EP01_OP.mkv / EP01.mkv / EP01_ED.mkv
MX can play next sequence file automatically like EP01.mkv, EP02.mkv, and etc.
But MX can't play OP and ED files unless manually selection.
So, what Enri1196 want should be playlist support which already in 8th item at high parity.
BTW, ordered chapter and playlist support both are in my wish list.
Thanks for all developers.
i would also love to have this feature as mx player is the perfect player for anime fans.......
recently vlc added chapter support but i cant watch it because of the lags on vlc.

I think your explanation fits the description of ordered chapters where you have multiple MKVs in a folder and when you play it, it looks like its a single video because it plays in their right orders without interruption

But what if the file name contains additional "OP" or "ED"?
Took the example in my previous post.
In windows, File sequence will be EP01.mkv->EP01_ED.mkv->EP01_OP.mkv
But I wish to play by EP01_OP->EP01->EP01_ED.
I can't do that without a playlist support.
EDIT:
By using Google to search "Ordered Chapter" and knowing it's a special function in MKV spec.
Looks like I'm using a wrong scenario because MKV has ordered chapter support in spec which may confuse us.
Please let me change my scenario to EP01.mp4 / EP01_OP.mp4 / EP01_ED.mp4.
Now playlist is the key, right?
A playlist can support all media type but ordered chapter is for MKV only.

Sorry if I can't understand your point. Do you want to replicate ordered chapters function on an mp4 file by using playlist?
If that is what @ChungHung.Chen wants, it won't work without recoding the files. Because it's usually intro -> op -> episode -> ed -> preview, with intro, episode and the preview being encoded to one file, and op and ed to their own files. So you would have to splice the intro and the preview off the episode file. In that case, you might as well recode the whole episode into a single file.

Ah, I did not notice that you referenced the list in your original post.
Regardless, the takeaway is that both ordered chapters and playlists are in the development queue!
Is this the same sort of feature as ordered chapters?
I'd like to manually select which chapter to play in an MKV file that has several chapter points.
Is this ability already in MX Player and I don't know where to access it?
I recently merged some MKV/AVI etc files into a single MKV file with Mkvmerge and added chapters,
and a bonus would be selecting to jump to chapter 2 or chapter 10, for example.
If it's part of the ordered chapters then I'll sit back and wait, and if it's a different fish then I'll add an extra feature request.
Thanks
