Hey guys, I just got me Evo and this is my first Android phone so I'm noob to the max. I've been trying to read up as much as possible, but I'm having a few problems:
I recently rooted using SimpleRoot OTA. I think I'm rooted anyways; I read the instructions/watched the videos and went along with the dude and everything appears to have worked. How do I know if I'm rooted anyways?
Ok, so now I was going to try to install the DamageControl rom, so I downloaded Rom Manager (free) from the marketplace, and when I try to use the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" I get a "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" window. Does this mean I'm not rooted? The only reason I wanted to root was so I could tether to my laptop because I don't have internet in my new apartment yet.
Also, one more thing: I noticed that ever since I rooted, the phone hasn't connected to 4G. I don't know if this is just coincidence or not. I have 4G enabled on the phone, and I normally have great 4G coverage here in Houston, but it hasn't connected yet. Do I need to update the radio? I'm pretty lost. Any help is appreciated, and if this is covered in any guides I may have missed I'd love a link for it.
There is a Q&A section.

Run the SimpleRoot program again and this time make sure you select EXTRAS -> FLASH RECOVERY. It will give you an option to flash either CLOCKWORK or RA.
Obviously, make sure your phone is connected to your PC and USB Debugging is ENABLED before you try this.
Tried using Super One Click to root this device...
Spent hours tracking down a recovery image (thanks Sebastian404!!)...
Tried rebooting into recovery only to discover that although i thought i had superuser access, i couldn't boot recovery, it just booted up as normally... with rom manager, quick boot and numerous other 'boot to recovery' softwares.
Have tried Universal Androot, z4root, SuperOneClick, and just about every Root software i could find!!
Also need some way to actually install this Recovery image that i've got, as Recovery Manager that Seb404 recommended, doesn't start on device... just repeatedly force closes
Hope someone has managed to do this and might have some time to give me some advice. About to give up trying and just succumb to the evil that is Orange Branding!
Please reply, Rich Addis.
Did you manage to get your phone rooted? I've got this phone also and cannot root the phone when I use SuperOneClick v2.1.1.
SuperOneClick gets as far as starting the ADB server. Then reports daemon started successfully. And then says Waiting for device...
And then it doesn't progress from there even though I've waited for over 5 minutes.
I have enabled USB Debugging on the phone and ensured I have not mounted the SD card.
I've also run the command 'adb devices' in ADB and it doesn't list any devices. Should this list my phone?
Thanks in advance.

I managed to get it working in the end. It'll probably help no one in the future but thought I'd let people know what I did to get it working. I looked in the device manager to see that the drivers for the phone had not been installed (despite Windows telling me via notification bubbles my device drivers had been installed and my hardware was ready to use). I right clicked and chose Update Drivers and then pointed it at the virtual CD drive that is presented when the phone is plugged into the PC. This installed the drivers fully and ADB now listed the device when running the command 'adb devices'. SuperOneClick then worked flawlessly after that.

Hello
Sory for my very poor englsh.
I want to buy this phone, but it is good ?
What about batery, speed ?
Thanks from Corsica (France)
Hi CorsicaBia,
yes this is a nice phone. I love the keyboard, it's not too hard nor too soft, just perfect.
Btw, anyway to root the device from memory card, without using PC? Thanks before.
Very Simple To Root.
The Huawei U8350 is very simple to root as long as you are using the most recent version of SuperOneClick (Currently 2.3.3) You can get it at shortfuse.org
Also, I'm not sure if it is possible to root without using a computer. I'm pretty sure that it is impossible.
This phone is an okay phone. It's not the fastest and only runs Android 2.2.2. The keyboard is nice and the screen is quite responsive.
Good luck guys!

Hey guys - I just went to best buy and ended up buying 3 of the Digiland 10.1 Tablets they had on sale for $70. Going to give them to my nieces for X-Mas (ages 11, 13,14). Dose anyone know how to root this device and install Android 5.0 Lollipop ?
I'd like to update these 3 before i give it to them. Thanks!
Bump, I am also using the digiland 10.1 from best buy... Successfully rooted, but looking for the best way to install custom rom without bricking? Thanks in advance.

I used root genius on Windows and it worked very easily... Hoping for custom recovery but I'm only intermediate with these things so I'm not sure where to go from here.
I bought one of these from best buy and would be very interested in all info available on rooting, custom recovery, and compatible roms for this device. I registered just for this thread. lol.

I rooted with the root genius for windows. Super easy took about 20 mins. Make sure you use the download from shuame.com though. Follow the directions
review?
Since you guys are using tablet.. What's your thoughts of it so far?
I'm sure someone on her knows of a rom to use.
That site is in what appears to be chinese, even translated its...hard to tell what is going on. No worries the thing doesnt even get here till the 11th of Dec.
Ummm what?
the site he listed, its in chinese

So did anyone get a custom rom working yet?
So far I like the quality of the tablet. I also brought three tablets one being the Digiland for myself and it is a very nice tablet. I just rooted mines as well through Root Genius. It's already on 4.4 so going from kitkat to lollipop isn't a huge deal to me. I'm using Buzz Menu as my home launcher and I Really like it! One of the biggest things I look to find in a rom for this device is multi-window.
Windows XP drivers help
I'm really liking this tablet as well.
I've been trying to root it with Root Genius as well, but unfortunately I've come across a road block.
I'm using a windows xp computer and I can't seem to find any driver for the tablet when you insert it in dev mode into the PC.
It asks for "MT65xx android" drivers and despite hours of searching on the net yesterday, all the drivers I have found online get rejected during the install driver process. I point the driver install to the right folder with the unzipped XP drivers, then it just fails and states it hasn't found matching drivers in there... I tried and found like 10+ websites with no luck.
Has anyone rooted it through a Windows XP computer? If someone could help me find the right matching drivers, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, I'm happy to hear people like this tablet, since I'm giving them as gifts.
"MT65xx Android Phone" driver
It turns out that most of the drivers I was trying must have been "MT65xx Preloader" drivers (the driver that is required when connecting the tablet when it is turned off).
Could anyone who has successfully rooted theirs point me towards a valid "MT65xx Android Phone" driver for Windows XP? That seems to be the name of the driver required when the device is turned on and with usb debugging turned on (the state required for Root Genius to work). Google hasn't returned a valid one for me yet since most sites tend to get the "preloader" and "android phone" drivers mixed up or poorly labeled, it seems that all the ones I found fall in the earlier category.
Rooted
ok so I have the thing rooted with root genius. Still looking for a rom, I have also noticed that this device seems to have a 2Gb partition and then the rest of the 16Gb in another partition. Is there a way to repartition this? Im a PC tech but very new to android. This site has been very informative so far.
I have rooted and downloaded the Original ROM for the DigiLand 10.1 running 4.4.2. I am currently attempting to load Lollipop on the system.
Can you please post the link to the original ROM, I have thus far been unable to find it.
Thanks
My first one did the wireless update after Rooting with root genius and bricked. Probably just bad download. Got replacement and updated and rooted, but having to use kinguser because of the issues supersu has with access to root from SD. Flawed for some mtk devices I have found. Lucky patcher and titanium backup won't work properly with supersu. Does anyone know if superuser has the same problem?
Title pretty much says it all. I've tried countless one click root programs with no progress whatsoever. I've spent hours searching and nothing comes up for this phone. Does anyone know a way to root this thing??

same here, a guy who works for kyocera told me that this model cant be put into recovery mode. Any help appreciated
I'm joining the request. As stated above, I've combed the web for anything on it with no success. Is this because of the fairly new release? Or possibly the trouble they're in because of Microsoft?
Either way I feel there should be an exploit out for it by now...
I too am looking fir an exploit for this device, and have scoured Google, Bing, and Yahoo, only to find nothing.

This model (Hydro Wave C6740N) CAN be put into Recovery Mode, using ADB.
Since Windows (edit: XP) USB drivers for the C6740N Wave are not released by Kyocera (yet), you (edit: can) use a Linux or OS X machine to connect using USB, to use ADB on the C6740N. (Since USB connection to C6740N "just works" on those platforms.)
I have used ADB on a Macbook running OS X to reboot my Hydro Wave into Recovery Mode, and performed cache wipe successfully. Also performed backups using ADB.
Kyocera advised (via email) that the Wave can be put into Recovery using Volume Down + Power key combo. Not true, the key combo does not work.
Kyocera also advised (via chat) that the Windows USB driver for any Hydro family device will work for the Wave. Also not true (I tried it). (Edit: I tried the drivers with Windows XP. It looks like the Kyocera Windows USB drivers may simply be USB modem drivers only, on any case.)
OS X or Linux using ADB is the ticket, no USB driver necessary. (Edit: But see other posts about using Windows 10 too.)
I'm also keenly interested in rooting the C6740N, but an absolute noob. The C6740N has a lot going for it, but a few shortcomings that root would enable resolving. If anyone knows of a way to root it, we would be most grateful to hear about it.
Tried about everything else too and nothing works
There's a working driver in Windows 10, but KingoRoot still fails. I almost tried King Root, but it's all in Chinese. I was going to try Framaroot but gave up when the download link resulted in an endless survey loop to win a free $100 Visa card (yeah....... GO F**K YOURSELF). I really want to root this thing. MetroPCS has this thing loaded full of bloatware and the Google BS I never use (google+ MUST DIE) is just eating storage space and what tiny bit of RAM is left. It's a nice phone but the inability to overclock the CPU, delete bloatware, and turn my 4GB SD Card into RAM really leaves alot to be desired.
The phone can be put into recovery using adb on windows.but that's as far as that goes.Cant find any way to root.Hope we get one soon.
So I think we should make a list of what root methods that did not work. That way we wont get hassled of what does not work
Kingo Root: FAIL
Towelroot: FAIL
Framaroot: UNKNOWN
King Root: UNKNOWN (Can't read Chinese)
Could you use a kill file that would reset all data including disabling some things
Root genius fails
King root fails
Kingoroot fails
Iroot fails
Framaroot fails
Towelroot fails
I'm thinking you gotta unlock the boot loader , but I can't put into fast boot mode or boot onto the boot loader for any adb fastboot commands to work. I can get to recovery in adb , and in the recovery menu I select boot to boot loader but it boots normally. I really want to root this thing!!
I just noticed that they're are any way to root the latest lolipop unless your on 5.0.2 ( BTW I checked kingroot and checked the request of our device and its almost to 1000
Subbing 'cuz I just got it and want it rooted. How do I request it from Kingroot?

If he rooted the phone he sent the reply from, he's unfortunately in the wrong thread. The C6530N is the Hydro Life. We're trying to root the C6740N which is the Hydro Wave. Thanks for getting our hopes up.
On the other hand, if he's using the Hydro Life to post in the forum but has successfully rooted the Hydro Wave, we would all love to know just how you did it. My Hydro Wave is running worse than an Alcatel Evolve on the stock setup. We need root badly.
Speaking of root exploits such as Framaroot, see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...droid_users_creates_hijackable_global_botnet/
Which links to the original exposé:
https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2015/09/guaranteed_clicksm.html
...which notes that this Android botnet malware uses Framaroot and other root exploits. I wonder if some of these Chinese root exploit tools themselves (Framaroot, Kingoroot, etc.) carry a hidden malware payload.
....
Hi I've tried everything also but I also tried this program for tablets called zuse toolkit & it seems to get something through cause it reboots & optimizes or upgrade apps I'm not too sure which one but if someone out there knows how to modifie the way this zuse toolkit roots then maybe we have a chance of rooting this new phone oh & after it optimizes or upgrades the apps I check for root permissions and it still says it does not have root permissions so yea...
Hi guys,
im new to XDA but i've been messing with rooting and stuff on a few android phones for a while and recently i got my hands on the new Moto G5 Plus. And ofcourse this thing needs root if it wants to call itself 'my phone' But the problem is here: I dont really have a computer... I saw some tutorials on how to do it but step 1. You have to unlock the bootloader. Im pretty sure this can only be done the official way by using motorola's software so... yeah. Now at school i have a pc but i can't use anything that needs administration rights. It's just ment to use the Internet and such. So i can only use pc programs that don't need an installation or anything. And a step back, you can't even do anything on it with a pc unless you have the drivers. And surprise surprise, you have to install these. On my previous phone, a samsung galaxy S3 neo. I rooted it, installed twrp and cyanogenmod with lollipop 5.0. And without a computer. I rooted it with KingRoot, a oneclickroot program for the people that want to root just for the root acces and dont really care about how it's done and stuff like that. Then with rom manager installed twrp. And with twrp i flashed CM. So i tried OneClickRoot software on my G5 Plus. And it failed. Kingroot, kingoroot, framaroot, baiduroot, towelroot, oneclickroot etc. And all failed, which is probably because it's locked.. Well OFCOURSE that's the reason what am i thinking!? But back to the phone. If anyone has an idea on how to do this if its even possible... Please let me know! I tried everything.. (i think?) I would prefer a way where it only roots so keeps the stock recovery. This way i can still install system updates right? I have no idea..
Thanks alot. PS. Sorry for probably many grammar mistakes.
From the little research that I did, it seems like you HAVE to use a computer to do it. My advice is, since you are still at school, get some friends... that have computers and use it. Another thing that I thought was somewhat bootleg, get another android device and install the fastboot command on it and use a usb otg cable to connect to it. I have adb working as a command, so I guess fastboot could work as well lol.
Good luck!
