Tried using Super One Click to root this device...
Spent hours tracking down a recovery image (thanks Sebastian404!!)...
Tried rebooting into recovery only to discover that although i thought i had superuser access, i couldn't boot recovery, it just booted up as normally... with rom manager, quick boot and numerous other 'boot to recovery' softwares.
Have tried Universal Androot, z4root, SuperOneClick, and just about every Root software i could find!!
Also need some way to actually install this Recovery image that i've got, as Recovery Manager that Seb404 recommended, doesn't start on device... just repeatedly force closes
Hope someone has managed to do this and might have some time to give me some advice. About to give up trying and just succumb to the evil that is Orange Branding!
Please reply, Rich Addis.
Did you manage to get your phone rooted? I've got this phone also and cannot root the phone when I use SuperOneClick v2.1.1.
SuperOneClick gets as far as starting the ADB server. Then reports daemon started successfully. And then says Waiting for device...
And then it doesn't progress from there even though I've waited for over 5 minutes.
I have enabled USB Debugging on the phone and ensured I have not mounted the SD card.
I've also run the command 'adb devices' in ADB and it doesn't list any devices. Should this list my phone?
Thanks in advance.

I managed to get it working in the end. It'll probably help no one in the future but thought I'd let people know what I did to get it working. I looked in the device manager to see that the drivers for the phone had not been installed (despite Windows telling me via notification bubbles my device drivers had been installed and my hardware was ready to use). I right clicked and chose Update Drivers and then pointed it at the virtual CD drive that is presented when the phone is plugged into the PC. This installed the drivers fully and ADB now listed the device when running the command 'adb devices'. SuperOneClick then worked flawlessly after that.

Don't be too sure I'll be receiving my barca in a few days and am most grateful for your posting both your question, and the answer to your question on the board... Its my first Droid, so I need all the help I can get with rooting, debranding, etc... Many thanks for your time!
Hello
Sory for my very poor englsh.
I want to buy this phone, but it is good ?
What about batery, speed ?
Thanks from Corsica (France)
Hi CorsicaBia,
yes this is a nice phone. I love the keyboard, it's not too hard nor too soft, just perfect.
Btw, anyway to root the device from memory card, without using PC? Thanks before.
Very Simple To Root.
The Huawei U8350 is very simple to root as long as you are using the most recent version of SuperOneClick (Currently 2.3.3) You can get it at shortfuse.org
Also, I'm not sure if it is possible to root without using a computer. I'm pretty sure that it is impossible.
This phone is an okay phone. It's not the fastest and only runs Android 2.2.2. The keyboard is nice and the screen is quite responsive.
Good luck guys!

Hey guys,
I just used a flashtool to upgrade to android 2.1 today since the official upgrade isn't available yet. Everything is working well, except i'm not able to use 3g. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me remedy this problem, or at least tell me what I probably did wrong? I'd really appreciate it.
The official upgrade is out there. Plug your phone into your computer and update from the se software

I have the X10a. and whenever I plug it in to use the PC companion for upgrade it said my phone was up to date even with android 1.6. Was I missing something?
Alright i figured it out. I just needed to add the att apn infornation to the phone. Aftet that it worked like a charm
Helllp!
I have been trying to root my x10a. I managed to get to the point where superuser is on the phone but it does nothing. I tried to update the superuser as the message went something about 'bin v su' and update but the update failed. I tried to use superone click and got it to state that root files are in the phone now, but I tried to use titanium backup and it says must be rooted. I spent the last few days forum hopping to find a solution, downloaded SDK setup and all platforms and tried to manually put in code from the cmd.exe and it gives me something about adb is not recognized as a command. I googled the error and tried some of the recommended fixes at sxeveral sites, but I have had no luck with instituting superuser to full function. I am sure I am doing something wrong but I know I'm close. HEY YOU GUYS! (electric company on PBS)

The official upgrade is not out there in all markets. SE is setting a record for the time frame required to diseminate an upgrade globally. Comical.
You have to input the APN Settings for your carrier manually.
I do not understand and I intend upon putting 2.1 in it after its rooted, but it tells me that I need to flash into recovery for SU, but I can't back up the phone without proper root...or can I? Please more info. I generally do not ask for help, but I am in up to my nostrils with this and I want to succeed. I have tried superone click, I downloaded androot, but i CAN'T EVEN GET THAT TO RUN. Several others and manual. So do I flash from here? with no back up? and if so, how to flash to recovery, please. thanks.

If you are on 1.6, then SuperOneClick will not work. You need to be up to 2.1 for SuperOneClick to work. I do not know Androot though.
Thanks I will search how to input the APN and check in from here.
OK, I am trying to root my X10 and this is the first time that I have tried to do something like this. I am on step 2 of a guide which is to enable USB debugging and run 2_root_system, but every time I try to do it, it says "Error: Device not found" please help as I did the flash downgrade to start the process and my phone is really basic right now.
Thats very similar to the issue I'm having. Its related to the USB driver. However, I can't seem to find the USB driver to talk to the phone so that the root can be sideloaded to the phone.

Hi guys, I need some help here. I'm a noob to rooting Android phones and I'm reading as much as I can to learn as much as I can but I have hit a little hitch.
I recently got the new HTC Inspire 4G from ATT and I'm trying to use super one click. I installed the Android sdk and every possible add-on for the sdk.
The problem is every time I try to use super one click it hangs as soon as it tries to do psneuter and the same thing happens if I use rageagainstthecage at the same point.
I have no idea why this keeps happening as I think I'm doing everything correctly.
Please help me figure out how to did this issue so I can use this program and root my phone and allow installation of non market apps.

No offense but if you spent 2 seconds reading a little bit you would realize that there is no one click root for the inspire YET. However there is an alternative method to root that involves making a gold card. All of this info can be found in android development.
super one click doesn't support the inspire right now. to root and enable sideloading, start here.

from what I heard and read, There will never be an easy root for the Inspire. I followed the directions using ace hack kit with successful results. I'm Rooted and already flashed Leedroid ROM.
Go to the IRC channel if you have problems. But first thing is making a Goldcard. That's a must

Ok, so i had read and attempted that method also. I have attached a screen capture of what happens when i follow that guide................ nothing!
I open a prompt directly in the folder with adb in it and i run the command, obviously without the unnecessary path, and it starts the process and never returns the magic number that i need.
Any ideas what to do next?

First time in the command window type "adb devices" and wait for it to return line describing your device. Then you can proceed with the adb shell commands.
So i tried the "adb services and it just gave me a long list saying the same thing on every line and that it was offline. Then i ran the original command and i got a different error.
Again i attached a screen grab of what happened. Thanks for all this help guys.
I did exactly the same thing as the guy in that video did. Literally step by step. I just don't get that number when i try it.

Well HTC is a little different. Some HTC users feel they are elitist who feel that if you have no idea about basic adb commands then you shouldn't be accessing root. This is just my opinion from back when I had a magic and dream. I'm not talking about anyone directly, but that vibe can be felt sometimes in the HTC forum.

Did you turn on USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development?
Install HTC sync. It will install the correct driver to get adb to work
If you are only wanting to enable non market app install, superoneclick will do the job perfectly.
1-Install HTC sync to get appropriate USB drivers installed.
2-Connect phone to PC with USB cable and set it to charge only when asked by the phone which choice you want to make.
3-Put phone in debugging mode.
4-Run superoneclick as administrator.
5-Run the root for universal.
6-When that finishes click on the button to enable non market apps and let it do its thing.
7-Once all of this is complete you can disconnect your USB cable.
8-Now shut your phone all the way off then restart.
You should now be able to click on any APK file in estrongs file explorer and install it with no problems. This does not root your phone but does enable the ability to install non market apps. Also, shutting the phone all the way down and restarting may not be necessary but that is the way that I did it and it worked flawlessly.
There still will not be a setting in app management to enable non market apps but they will install after following this procedure.
Now, go and have some fun with all those apps you have stashed but couldn't install beforehand.

So I've just spent a very long night trying to root a SK4G.
At a point, I had root. Or I think I did. I installed root check and it confirmed. I even got apps asking me for SU access. However, adb / android commander would not recognize root at all.
First off.. I set up ADB months ago when rooting a G2/DesireZ. When I loaded up CMD, adb devices and adb shell commands work. I cannot push/pull/anything using CMD. I do not know if this is a problem with my ADB or the phone.
Beyond failing at using CMD, I also used SOC and the other OC with CWM. Like I said, at one point I was able to get root, but that is somehow gone now. And all attempts since have resulted in SOC freezing up at stage 7 (Not Responding).
The end result im going for here is to root and install Glorious Overdose. Currently the phone is sitting on factory reset with nothing installed. I'm using Windows 7 for root process, and have the current samsung drivers installed.
Anyone ever look so hard for something, that you couldn't see it even though it was right in front of you?
Well, Apparently I have root even though none of my technology wanted to tell me I do. Still don't know what happened there.?
Anywho! I'm listening to Linda right now, so as long as I didn't go do something dumb during flash, I'll be enjoying a nice ROM shortly. Thanks ayoteddy & sduvick for all your work
As I'm typing all these lights and color panels popped up, pretty snazzy guys.. pretty snazzy ;P
Think you to because the rom is grate

same here, a guy who works for kyocera told me that this model cant be put into recovery mode. Any help appreciated
I'm joining the request. As stated above, I've combed the web for anything on it with no success. Is this because of the fairly new release? Or possibly the trouble they're in because of Microsoft?
Either way I feel there should be an exploit out for it by now...
I too am looking fir an exploit for this device, and have scoured Google, Bing, and Yahoo, only to find nothing.

This model (Hydro Wave C6740N) CAN be put into Recovery Mode, using ADB.
Since Windows (edit: XP) USB drivers for the C6740N Wave are not released by Kyocera (yet), you (edit: can) use a Linux or OS X machine to connect using USB, to use ADB on the C6740N. (Since USB connection to C6740N "just works" on those platforms.)
I have used ADB on a Macbook running OS X to reboot my Hydro Wave into Recovery Mode, and performed cache wipe successfully. Also performed backups using ADB.
Kyocera advised (via email) that the Wave can be put into Recovery using Volume Down + Power key combo. Not true, the key combo does not work.
Kyocera also advised (via chat) that the Windows USB driver for any Hydro family device will work for the Wave. Also not true (I tried it). (Edit: I tried the drivers with Windows XP. It looks like the Kyocera Windows USB drivers may simply be USB modem drivers only, on any case.)
OS X or Linux using ADB is the ticket, no USB driver necessary. (Edit: But see other posts about using Windows 10 too.)
I'm also keenly interested in rooting the C6740N, but an absolute noob. The C6740N has a lot going for it, but a few shortcomings that root would enable resolving. If anyone knows of a way to root it, we would be most grateful to hear about it.
Tried about everything else too and nothing works
There's a working driver in Windows 10, but KingoRoot still fails. I almost tried King Root, but it's all in Chinese. I was going to try Framaroot but gave up when the download link resulted in an endless survey loop to win a free $100 Visa card (yeah....... GO F**K YOURSELF). I really want to root this thing. MetroPCS has this thing loaded full of bloatware and the Google BS I never use (google+ MUST DIE) is just eating storage space and what tiny bit of RAM is left. It's a nice phone but the inability to overclock the CPU, delete bloatware, and turn my 4GB SD Card into RAM really leaves alot to be desired.
The phone can be put into recovery using adb on windows.but that's as far as that goes.Cant find any way to root.Hope we get one soon.
So I think we should make a list of what root methods that did not work. That way we wont get hassled of what does not work
Kingo Root: FAIL
Towelroot: FAIL
Framaroot: UNKNOWN
King Root: UNKNOWN (Can't read Chinese)
Could you use a kill file that would reset all data including disabling some things
Root genius fails
King root fails
Kingoroot fails
Iroot fails
Framaroot fails
Towelroot fails
I'm thinking you gotta unlock the boot loader , but I can't put into fast boot mode or boot onto the boot loader for any adb fastboot commands to work. I can get to recovery in adb , and in the recovery menu I select boot to boot loader but it boots normally. I really want to root this thing!!
I just noticed that they're are any way to root the latest lolipop unless your on 5.0.2 ( BTW I checked kingroot and checked the request of our device and its almost to 1000

If he rooted the phone he sent the reply from, he's unfortunately in the wrong thread. The C6530N is the Hydro Life. We're trying to root the C6740N which is the Hydro Wave. Thanks for getting our hopes up.
On the other hand, if he's using the Hydro Life to post in the forum but has successfully rooted the Hydro Wave, we would all love to know just how you did it. My Hydro Wave is running worse than an Alcatel Evolve on the stock setup. We need root badly.
Speaking of root exploits such as Framaroot, see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...droid_users_creates_hijackable_global_botnet/
Which links to the original exposé:
https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2015/09/guaranteed_clicksm.html
...which notes that this Android botnet malware uses Framaroot and other root exploits. I wonder if some of these Chinese root exploit tools themselves (Framaroot, Kingoroot, etc.) carry a hidden malware payload.
....

How do you root a z828 zte avid plus phone metro pcs?????
It's different than the Avid 4G. You can still get into the FTM, but I'm guessing either the script or the security is different. Mine is on Android 5.1.1 MetroPCS and I've been searching everywhere to no avail. Some help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. :cyclops:
Also desperately looking for a way to root the device. I bought it as a cheap replacement when my last phone was broken, and so far I've enjoyed the phone. This is one major pitfall, though. Ive tried plenty of rooting apps and methods, and I'm willing to test and play with more. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'm offering any assistance I can. Let's find a way to crack this thing.

not yet......kingroot has a request form when you download it on your phone. As of now, there is about 5000 requests and was last seen at queue list 342 and it increase every day. my guesstimate is maybe by the end of July there will be a root program
End of July for sneaky Chinese info-thief rooting... Should be at about Android 9.2 by then. Never again owning a ZTE unless is a time machine and/ or comes with a Gremlin.

I don't know how successful you can be but if you go to kingoroot.com and try you may have a chance.
Here is what I did, first I downloaded the program for the pc, then attempted to root the device. When it failed, I saved the log and emailed them. After about a week I tried again. By this time I was fooling around with the cable, restarting phone, unplugging the cable and constantly restarted the kingoroot app, then finally after an hour of doing this the root worked!!!
Give it a shot, it may be worth it!!!
I have the same problem too, the reason why many rooting apps failed because the Z828 is not yet rootable. But don't worry, it will be in the future.. just don't know when.

Step 2: Command Prompt with ADB
run the CMD with admistrator privileges and use the following commands -
adb devices
[hit enter]
adb reboot disemmcwp
[Your device will now reboot with some extra write permissions]
install and run KINGO ROOT! (Yes, it's kingO root, not King) on your pc.
SHAABAAMMMM!!!!
Now we need a custom recovery for it!
PS: o/! Dont try link2sd , because it #$&*#&(*@^*$ your apks, and you can't find it in the 2nd partition.
it says that the device is offline what do i do?
It does work as stated above. Nice job, I've been trying to do this for a while now. I didnt know there was a command to make the phone reboot with more permissions. Very nice!
Seems to not work for me. I get it to connect and everything, but KingoRoot fails to keep going or it finishes at 100% and tells me that it failed to install Root.
Nevermind, I had to reboot my PC.
I'm not sure this is a true root. And how do I remove kingosu and replace with SuperSU? Super sume did not work as kingosu refused to give it a permission.
Yeah its a false root. Had to wipe and factory reset.
okay. upon third try it rooted! and even root explore r/w worked!
however i deleted the metro apps and tried to install supersu because i hear nasty comms going on between kingouser and chinra.
