GPS - T-Mobile LG G2x

This phone without a doubt has the best GPS out of all my phones. I am inside my home office on 1st floor and as soon as I turn it on within 5 to 10 seconds bang it puts me in the exact part of my house. Freaken fantastic. This phone gets better every day. I think it's a keeper.
PS Wouldn't it be great if we were lucky to get AT&T radio bands just so this great piece of hardware doesn't end up being just another expensive paper weight.

Former Galaxy s owner I assume lol.

Former Vibrant, Nexus One and G1 user here.
And I agree with the OP.

I don't know but I think I used to get better GPS results with the nexus one, yesterday over Berenice heavily using it in Manhattan (New York) and it doesn't update my location as often as the nexus one. I don't know, probably has to do with the cloudy weather, ill give it another try today

No Galaxy but G1, BB 9700, MyTouch 4G and best of all the Nexus One still used all the time. The GPS is just rock solid. All the phones I mentioned I could not get a lock in my office at home. The G2X gets a lock instantly, very impressed.

My GPS seems less than stellar. It will show 10 satellites with snr of 280 then drop to only 2 satellites. The snr being so off the charts also leads me to believe there's something wrong, can anyone see the same thing in GPS test app? And I'm coming from a nexus one, that phone IMO had the best GPS.

On my G2X, if I exit maps, the GPS icon stays on. On my G1, if I exited Maps, the GPS turned off. Is there a setting for this to automatically turn it off?

Mine turns off after I close maps. Maybe you have another app running in the background that is using GPS?
By the way the G2X has one of the best GPS chips you can get. Mine locks in 3 seconds with amazing accuracy.

Infuse low SAR !!!!

I really like this phone and have left the apple world..... I did run across the SAR radiation level of the phone and saw that it was like .4 for head measurements. That is a great feature in itself.
Good info. Didn't even know you could find that

How did u find it out? I thought the SAR radiation levels site mentioned infuse around 1.26.
.2 according to cnet. I'm not sure who to believe, but I do like that its on the list of lowest in the U.S.

OMG!!! 0.2 is like nothing compared to blackberries and iphones (these have over 1.0)..!!! Looks like it was a good choice coming to Infuse.
I would not consider the 1.26 when used a a hotspot and put near head... cos I don't see anyone putting a phone near head when using as hotspot. That's ridiculous.
Yeah, this is great. I think i'm going to suggest to my mom she get a samsung when she upgrades.
Haha, yeah, I think it'll be pretty easy to not hold it to my head while i'm on a laptop using mobile AP

Time has a recent article supporting the belief that cell phones don't cause cancer.
http://healthland.time.com/2011/07/15/the-latest-volley-in-the-endless-cell-phone-cancer-war/
Either way I still love my phone!
and xkcd wrote a comic based on this that suggests something completely different.

People actually care about this? Honestly, the radiation is so minute that it would take hundreds of years to notice a difference at all.

Don't mean to start a war, but it does infact effect. Try to find a butterfly colony near any cell tower, its not easy. Anyways, point here was to convey it effects, be it little or more, and its always best to play safe, atleast where possible.

Mind heading over to the infuse development forums and providing a system dump to us AT&T users. It will greatly help the Custom ROM development on your shiny new Infuse and make it a better experience for everyone
That was my plan but my boss ran out with the only working demo.. gotta wait to get my own lol

I would love to get my hands on the infuse, from what I've read its an amazingly well built phone with the power to back up the looks and I've been a huge samsung fan since the first galaxy phones came out. I definitely will have to get one for dev/personal use when my finances allow, and also the wife....lol

Lol yeah it is huge the icons on it are bigger than some of my widgets on my cappy and I've seen portable dvd players with less screen. It truly is a monster of a phone, but in a good way, not like the motorola bricks of the 80's that you had no hope of fitting in even a large coat pocket, they were some sturdy pieces of tech though I have one that I held onto that's been thrown, sat on, coffee spilled on, the list goes on and it still powers on and holds a charge and had 0 cracks anywhere on it, well the last time I had it out anyways, its been a lil while and after moving its hard to say.

There's nothing wrong with a battery pull. It's harmless.

ok thanks for posting man! When we have these problems we should call Verizon so they can know we have a problem in the city....because when I called they didnt know any problems going on in the city and couldn't do nothing for me they wanted me to do a hard reset. Everything is good now I am in the bronx now 3:04 Am was out drinking lol
I spoke to someone today about slow data since January and they told me that they're moving to Network Vision towers right now (3G/4G in one tower). She said they happen to be doing NY over the weekend, specifically Queens and Brooklyn. That might be it.
its gotten better.

lte network down?

Im just north of NYC and lost my 3g coverage, did a reboot and still nothing. I just switched to the old 3g and I have data again. Can anyone confirm if lte is down in any areas?

You using the stock battery cover or one from another manufacture? It's known that some non-OEM battery covers don't give the best connection to the antenna in the cover.

Pretty sure it is.

LTE turned on in Sacramento. Post your speeds/ROM/settings

Stock CM10 here with no settings tweaked. I was getting 16Mbps yesterday and am fluctuating between 12Mb and 46Mb today. (not sure what radio)
My phone's data connection is now quicker than my home and work combined :^\
Killer speeds in Roseville. Stock 2.20 rooted and debloated.

I wonder what these speeds look like in a week or so when all the LTE iPhones are in users' hands....
I wanna see that too I don't think it will have a big effect but that's just my opinion because most iOS users I know don't use their devices like I do I think it will have a big impact in San Fransisco every time I go out there all I see is I phones and iPad everywhere what's weird is I get about 10-15 download speeds when I'm I sf but from Oakland to Vallejo I get 30
