MY XOOM WiFi MZ604 is HEAVILY BRICKED! HELP ASAP, PLEASE! - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Error : Starting RSD mode 3
I followed the steps on rooting the xoom wifi from this website : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010568. I got to the step,"fastboot flash boot boot.img". Then it stuck at "Dual Core Technology". I rebooted my xoom, then it went to the same screen, but there is an ERROR. The error is "Starting RSD mode 3". PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM!
EDIT : Also, I can't connect my XOOM to my PC via USB. It won't even play that WINDOWS sound when i plug it in to pc, it won't recognize.
EDIT2 : I can't get into fastboot. I powered my xoom down, then hold power and volume down button, and it just shows the motorola logo.

if you press power and vol up till it resets then hold volume down it will boot into fastboot mode and you can try to reflash the boot img

I reseted my xoom. But when i hold the volume down, it just show the motorola logo, with no error, and it freezes. It doesn't show the fastboot.

So the only option you have is rsd3? You can only run commands from fastboot. If you do a hard reset while its plugged into the pc, does anything happen?

what OS are you using?????
did you make sure drivers loaded before trying to use fastboot?

If you get the rsd3 you should be okay. I had same issue and used rsd lite with the sbf and it worked.

There is no SBF for the WiFi only xoom. So he needs fastboot.

Please Help...
I got very similar problem.
I own Motorola Xoom WiFi only and I was trying to root it via Koush manual.
Everything works fine until step 9. Xoom didn't reboot. I'm just looking on Motorola Dual Core technology logo...
I try to restart it (Vol Up and Power) but nothing changed...
So sorry for my English
EDIT: reflash original motorola sw, so works fine now... without root

me to i have same problem
maybe the solution sbf file but where the sbf ???
every day i heard tomorrow

just reflash all original stock wifi images...

Unable to reboot after returning to stock

Thanks in advance
How are you reflashing after the power down? Is it getting to APX mode? Maybe the bootloader is still messed up?
I am going into apx mode by using power vol- then selecting the nv flash batch file

HELP! Can't get RSD Light working on 2.3 Milestone

Hello all,
I recently acquired an sbf image that I wanted to flash on my milestone running iceandfire 1.8, but I can't get it to properly connect. Everytime I connect the device and select portal and tools, my windows 7 32 pc says its installing drivers, then the MTP device fails to install, and resulting in rsd not being able to detect it. HELP PLEASE!!!!
You have to go into bootloader mode (power button and up on d pad when off) or in cm7 hold down power button click reboot and the bootloader
Sent from my A853 using XDA Premium App
That installs a driver, but its still not recognized by rsd lite... and the mtp usb device driver still doesnt install...
You have just to install MotoConnect to install all the drivers correctly. Search on the motorola site or here in forums.

beware - the bootloader reboot in CM6/7 will take you to the fastboot mode that is not suitable for sbf flashing.
power off the phone, hold the d-pad up and press the power button to get the phone to the proper bootloader mode

CWM corrupt, infuse bricked

The CWM file in my Infuse 4g is corrupt. When holding down volume up + volume down and pressing power button; CWM restore comes up but is garbled. I can not use it. Is there anyway to solve this? The phone is bricked.
That is due to missing GB bootloaders. Search around and you will find how to flash them on download mode.
Use qkster's uclb3 heimdall one-click twice, the second time with the bootloaders checkbox ticked on.
I've been at it all day with no luck.
Went to the page suggested and could not get it to work.
Went to several more with the same luck.
Heimdall can't detect it. Odin can't detect it.
However, adb devices finds it.
adb reboot works but gets the same garbled up screen again and again.
Downloaded 3e_recovery_no_sig_check.zip
Installed it by adb push ... adb reboot recovery gives me the same garbled up cwm recovery window.
Reinstalled it several times... same thing.
I really need some help.
I have no phone... landline or other wise.
What happened was;
Rooted the phone.
Use modmanager to install cwm and install a rom.
All seemed to go well. The instructions said the new rom would boot up twice then to add the gapps zip.
It just kept booting up over and over for over an hour. (looping)
When I did the 'vol up + vol down and press power button to go into recovery mode, I got the garbled up recovery screen.
That where the phone is right now. Nothing but a brick.
Any help greatly appreciated.

You said you used "modmanager"... did you mean ROM manager? ROM manager doesn't play well with most of these ROMs. Could be part of the problem. Get rid if it and do what andros11 said.

Having trouble getting into 'download mode' after flashing.
With data cable connected to PC and phone.
vol down + vol up + power = e3 recovery
vol down + power = normal boot
vol up + power = normal boot
Without data cable connected to phone same as above.
How do I get back into 'downoad mode'?

Need help with xoom, possible brick

First,
I really want to thank everyone for their support in this forum. Everyone has been amazing.
I was trying to bring my MZ601 back to stock yesterday. Something bad happened during fastboot and asked me if I wanted to unlock my device. Then the screen locked up and didnt do anything. I rebooted the device and now it gets stuck in a boot loop with the EOS symbol (last rom I installed). When I enter recovery there is nothing there, all of my data is gone.
Worse the device is not recognized on my computer nor can it be found in adb fastboot. I have updated motorola drivers, but I think the device never gets past a certain point in order to be found.
Can somebody please help me.
Thanks,
Pretty impossible to brick XOOM's but i'll ask the basics. Can you get into recovery from a cold boot? Can you get into fastboot from a cold boot?
By the sounds of it you've just corrupted your rom or tried to re-unlock the device which would cause the entire sdcard partition to be erased.
Boot XOOM into Recovery, Fastboot, or RSD mode
So you need to get into Recovery to backup your XOOM (you do nandroid don't you?). Or perhaps you were working on creating new levels of awesome and something happend and you find yourself staring at the Motorola Dual Core boot screen with your XOOM refusing to boot any further. Fear not, you are only a few clicks away from finding your way back into recovery or fastboot goodness.
Turn your XOOM off
Press Power to turn your XOOM back on
When the Motorola Dual Core boot screen appears tap Volume Down repeatedly until "Android Recovery" is displayed
Press Volume Up to enter Recovery
You can also choose from Fastboot protocol support and RSD mode by using the same method but instead selecting their respective menu prompts.
Note:
If your XOOM is caught in bootloops or you find yourself stuck in RSD mode or Fastboot Protocol support you can hardware reboot your XOOM by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power until the tablet reboots (usually a few seconds but could be longer).

Hi,
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, it seems that I have caused the entire sd card partition to be erased. That mean when I trry to fastboot my device is not recognized. Also, i cannot add anything to my xoom through usb. I have tried to flash through the external sd card, but to no avail. What do I have to do?
What does your xoom show up as when plugged into your pc APX? Can you boot into fastboot mode. with power off press power and volume down until you see fastboot.

Hi thanks for the reply to my message.
Unfortunately I cannot find my device when it is plugged into my computer (PC). It does not show up on my computer nor in the device manager. I can start the fastboot protocol on my device by rebooting, but I also cannot find my device in ADB.
Thanks for the reply, but I am still very stuck.
are you sure your device is in fastboot ? did you reinstall the drivers, try with another usb cable, adb shoud see the device after the drivers were installed correctly ...

I did everything I have done before. I have setup android sdk, java, and motorola drivers on two different PCs. Both fail to find my device when i type ADB devices nor does ADB reboot bootloader work. I tried the different cable, but that also did not work.
Hi,
I see that your problem is quite hard, try doing this:
1 - Force your tablet to shut down (vol+ + Power)
2 - Turn on while holding the vol- button
3 - Keep pressing vol-
4 - Plug on your PC and try fastboot devices, adb won't work!
5 - If 4 didn't work, keep trying until it does
6 - Install a Stock ROM (so you will solve your problems)
If the above don't work, contact me via PM, so we can talk easily (maybe GTalk or something like this). Good Luck

I took your advice and just used fastboot. Then I flashed the stock rom I wanted to use. My xoom is back up and running. I really appreciate the tip.
Also thank you to everyone that responded in the post, again, that is why I love coming here.

Please help me to unbrick my Xoom MZ600

Hi All,
I've turned on my Xoom after a while and then I've got stuck in the Boot screen with the Motorola logo and the following message in the left upper corner: Starting RSD Protocol Support 3.
I tried to do Power + Volume Up for approx 1min. to do a soft reset and nothing happened. It's frozen.
In addition, I've connected the Xoom MZ600 to the PC and downloaded RSDLite v6.1.4, It gets detected and gets connected by the way... and also downloaded the VZW_MZ600_Signed_HRI39_Signed_MDM600BP_C_02.0F.00R_SW.combo.sbf.
Then I started to flash it and all went ok, Last message was Passed, but when the tablet is rebooting it gets stuck again in the "Starting RSD Protocol Support 3".
Also, when it was going to reboot after the RDSLite, I tried to press Volume down to try to get to fastboot, but nothing happens, it gets straight away to the "Starting RSD Protocol Support 3".
So, NO fastboot is available... although I saw a fastboot option in the RSDLite.
Please any other way to get it back?
Thanks in advance.

Hold down the volume down key while turning the Xoom on and keep it down until you see some text on the bootloader screen. At that stage you should be in fastboot mode. If you get to fastboot mode, unlock your bootloader, then see if it boots.

OK. Boot up and once you see RSD Protocol 3 on the screen, press and hold volume up + power until the Xoom reboots. When it does, does it boot normally or does it still go to RSD?

Hello oldblue910, Thanks very much for your help. However, pressing and holding volume up + power at the Xoom doesn't do anything.
Hmmm... with the Xoom at the RSD screen, volume up + power should reboot the device. If that's not doing anything, I'll have to do some more research tomorrow. I'll get back to you.
