I will apologise immediately for my noobness but Ive had the nexus s for a few months and I somehow managed to add a message onto my standby/homescreen shortly after getting it.
I cant for the life of me remember how I did it, ie whether it was through using an APP or not?!
I now have no idea how to remove it (I dont really want to have to reformat the whole phone)
Whatever setting it was, it allowed me to create a message using 3 seperate lines the first of which being my name (Incase I forgot it ;-) )
Does anybody have a clue how i remove this message?

Hi folks!
I have a small problem with my XDA orbit 2 and the installed Word Mobile.
Last night I opened all programs of the office suit. Everything worked fine except of Word (see attached pictures).
Opening is not the problem, but when I click softkey "Build new" I encounter a weird failure: "Failure occured. Unable to open document."
I just want to open a new document?!
Did I delete something without my knowledge?
I hope at least one of you can help me?

im facing this problem also on my hermes..its happen when i use the ROM w/out Office installed. so i manage to install on my SD card..this is why the problem come..so when u want to open a NEW WORD DOCUMENT, try to tab NEW from the BUTTOM bar. i dont know its will works or not, coz never happen on my Kaiser...Please try

Unfortunately it's the original ROM installed. Never changed something there. The infobox appears when I tab "New" from the bottom.
Where is the office installed on "original ROM"-devices? Could it be that I deleted or crashed a file which is necessary for opening a new document?
Can anyone tell what files should be there?

I notice when syncing and also using explorer to look at files on my Tilt that there are what looks like multiple folders with the same name, such as My docs, my pics and so on.
Can I delete them and somehow dorect the device and Active sync to all use the card for file storage?
What has to do with ROM development??? "No i don't want an answer"

I did not post this question before, and I looked around and saw nothing...
And Stylez... WTF dude or Dudett... I asked it here because it has everything to do with the ROM. You see after I flash the ROM I have several duplicate folders, some right in the mobile device root, then some in the My docs folder, and then some on the card when I put it in...
Sheesh my concern about just deleting them is 1) some are tagged as system files so I can't. 2) I don't want to delete one that say the camera is going to try to save to, and 3) Outlook/Exchange, where does it store its data on the device?? If it is on the main memory I would like to change it so it will be saved to the card.
I seem to recall years ago either JasJamming, or Custel, or Maybe it was Dutty had a ROM or maybe a CAB that forced all anything to be saved to the card.
So if the ROM is pointing say to one folder, and active sync to another, and the default OS uses a third, I thought maybe this could all be corrected in ROM cooking and so I asked it here...
Now then, with that said... instead of responding with a NON answer, either speak up with a answer or if you don't know... well pardon my frence but "Shut the F*** up!"
PS: To all you that will read this as me being rude and possibly hurting my ability to get an answer, well I am sorry. But I hate when all someone has to say is to bit*h about anything but an answer.
Your question has to do with active sync & documents
Chill ya beanz no need for a response like that, but please post in the correct sub forum "Software or General" up to you really
You can move the doc to the storage card. Use advanced config and set it there. This is controlled by active synch keys in the registry which you could have found in a few threads...i know because I wrote answers about how this is controlled in several threads and even made a cab for someone to use in my roms to move them back to main memory because Phoenix roms store my documents/pictures/camera/audio files on the storage card and for some reason the change made by advanced config was not taking in the registry. You should do more research about the structure and FYI unless you use a file manager other than the default one, you can't delete system files which is good because you shouldn't delet things unless you understand them.

What a track record. I have only actually started one thread in my whole time here!
Hi I am new to XDA. I have been running Linux for years. Refused to buy a I-PDA. I got a gtablet in hopes one day they will release a linux for it. So now I am modding my tablet with Caulkins mod. (SWEET). I have a problem. I would like to ask him... or other people on his thread. Actually a couple people mentioned it. I am too much a noob to ask directly. So now I have 9 more messages to write. Because my intellegence is directly linked to the number of messages I write. Oh sure I could understand. Don't create a new thread. But really? So I am going to write a question in the wrong area just because I have not wrote 10 messages on this forum.
So here we go:
I want to install thumb Keyboard. I hate the standard keyboard. I read on Caulkin's Mod thread that all you have to do is use root Filemanager and move the APK for the thumb Keyboad from data/app to system/app. Either I am accessing the wrong area or something. The only place I can find the apk is in downloads. But when I try to moved it to system/app I get an error message saying I can not move it.
Oh how I wish I could have a real OS on this thing.

If using root explorer you need to make sure that you hit the button next to 'Mounted as r/o' and change it to r/w (read/write)

First, this would be an app anyway, so it wouldn't need to go to DEV. Rather, it would have gone to "Themes and Apps," You would have created a thread in the wrong section if it'd been allowed, so maybe you should take that into consideration regarding the rant.
Second, I run Thumb Keyboard (on TwoTapsX), so what you're saying is correct. If you downloaded it from the market, it would install into /data/app. If you didn't download it from the market and instead have the apk, then *I think* you should just go ahead and run the apk to install it. Then it will appear in /data/app. However, your real issue seems to be that your file explorer might not be running with root permissions (if you can't copy it to /system/app). I use Absolute System, which always has root permissions on by default, but I've seen other applications that require you to switch (maybe by pressing a button marked su or root). You may need to look into that.
ok, I referred here by a friend after explaining what is going on.... my wife has a sharp FX plus... and it has been a problem since day one with the memory... I read the Q & A sticky, but don't know what I need to do in order to fix the problem so once I figure that out I should be ok.
the sharp says storage device is full on phone, if she gets two text messages it is full, she repeatedly daily has to uninstall games and erase all messages the phone does not give the option to move unused apps to the sd card or to erase unused apps, not to mention if she has mms on she can't receive texts and if she has text on she can't download mms.... like I said I'm new to all this... does anyone know how to fix this she loves the phone and the slide out keyboard and hates how big new phones are so I'm here to see if I can find a fix.... please help so I can put a smile on the wifes face!!!!
wow, not even a shot in the dark.... thats crazy.... I know there has got to be something....there is stuff all over the web so I guess I'm off to search.... I've softmodded alot of console so I should be able to get it down pretty quick, just need a direction to go.....

What do you mean here... It sounds like your saying you have to "use" the app first in order for it to be moved or erased? Which im sure is not the case.
Respond with details of what ROM/ android version, build, memory option, etc. These are things needed to know before any help can be given because suggestions vary especially if you are rooted.
... But try this first, go to settings --> Storeage --> Internal memory and respond with either a screen shot or details if privacy is an issue. I would figure you will find the 'heavy' items there to delete... usually multimedia and not apps are the culprit.
Hi guys, in attempt to keep my phone as clutter free as possible I want to know what these files are or if it is safe to remove them (found by Clean Master) --> "cache_vts_GMM" and there are couple of them with ends of ".3" ".0" .4" ."1"
I would not be worrying about what are probably tiny files.....you could cause serious problems for yourself too if you delete the wrong thing.
Basically a good rule of thumb....if you don't know what it is.....its probably supposed to be there.
And try Google if you must know.
