Database Info

My camera stopped working!

Not seen this anywhere before but I realised yesterday the camera had stopped functioning. Went into 'Button Config' to make sure it was assigned properly and discovered '<none>' next to the button command.
Some digging later I realised the entire function has disappeared from the machine! :shock:
Anyone know how to get it to work again - preferably without losing all my data? :?:

Oh my - 37 people read the request for help... but nobody was able to answer it!!
I've managed to work out that 'camera/exe' was one of the files deleted somehow... but I can't *see* how it was deleted *or* what other files I need to make it work?
Is there *really* nobody here who can help?? :shock:

if you do a search you'd see other people reporting their button assignments disappearing in a buff of logic
but i dont think people are missing the exe file in windows which manualy starts the camera
in the posts about the button asignment there are guides as to which reg keys you have to add to get it back

I did a search on 'button assignment' with various other terms such as camera and dismally failed to find anything that could help.
Also, I couldn't find the 'guides' of which you speak despite some serious digging about. Any ideas on where they might be hiding from me?
The camera still isn't working and I'm finding it a royal pain. I know it *will* work because I did a hard reset (just in case) and it worked fine until I restored my data via a backup.
I'll carry on looking for 'guides' and 'reg keys' and wait in the hope someone will be able to offer a lifeline :?

in \windows do you have an exe called camera.exe ?
if so does running it makes the camera work?
if not open your extentedrom and try running the camera cab file manualy to install the camera program

CallerID Problem after upgrade to QTek 1.11

Hi, I've recently upgraded my T-mobile MDA Compact to the Qtek 1.11. Everything works great. Better that with 1.06, but there is one problem.
When i receive a phone call, it doesn't show the name of my contact. MS Voice Command says the name but only the number is displayed, I tried extracting the 1.11 rom but i can't get the .cab for the contacts to re-install it.
Anyone having the same problem and found a sollution or has the .cab from 1.11? I think it's probably photo contacts program that's not working properly

I think i solved it.
I got the "Caller_ID_Magician_Generic_WWE_RC13.CAB" form the latest QTek1.11 Rom. Copied it to my MDA
When you try to install it, you get an error about locked files.
Rename or Delete the following files.
/Windows/Startup/IA_CID_StartUp.Ink (do a reset)
/Windows/CallerID.dll
/Windows/ContactsSDK.dll
/Windows/DisplayCID.dll
/Windows/iacontacts.dll
Install "Caller_ID_Magician_Generic_WWE_RC13.CAB" again, Reset and voila.
I called my self from my home phone and it worked!
Please give it a try and let me know if it works for you too.

Got the exact same problem after upgrading my qtek s100 to version 1.11. Quite annoying - hopefully someone can help us! Pleeaaase...

I got the same problem also. No pictures come up after the upgrade. I did not really notice it until reading this post.

I'm not quite sure how to get the .cab-file. Please tell me and I will definitely give it a try.

It seems that some of us encounter problems with 1.06 Upgrade...
The Caller ID and MMS issue are only related to a file association problem.
Programs like Betaplayer or the like can manage audio and video file that are by default managed by windows media player.
The trick is to make Windows Media Player the default player for all media type especially the ones that are managed by the built in Applications like Caller ID, MMS, Album.
Unfortunately, once you have let a third party program to manage audio and video file managed by W M P there are no solution other than playing with the registry and unchecking any file association in third party programs (unless you want to do it again from the start) than soft reset to make the changes effective.
About the trick with Pocket Tweak, first verify that third party programs no longer associate with W M P files than do the trick you shoud read in Pocket tweak Control Panel "Extension mp3 File Type Windows Media File" exit then soft reset.

I tried the suggestion posted by the original thread owner ... didn't work for me.
So my callerID still misbehaves :-(

Tmail.exe not opening??

Hi encountered this problem in WM6 Roms i dont know whats causing this and if there is any remedy besides hard reset which is a bummer. . .
i dont know the time frame but all of a sudden the messaging or tmail.exe application in my wizard does not want to open all of a sudden. it doesnt even have the wait indicator. . .
is there a solution to this? or anyone encountered this and might know the reason? im using xplore 1.1 by the way. great rom but i really wanna fix that problem. also note that i also expirienced this in most beutiful, muns, and faria.
hope someone can help me to find out why this is happening to avoid it or to have a fix.

try a Clear Storage and see if it works

first of all thanks for the great ROM man! Great Work.
i think that problem is a random thing. . i have cleared the storage and deleted the temp files manually and restored the backup i produced from SPB backup (it doesnt work the first time i tried it but since i will not take no for an answer!) it worked!
i keep my wizard shut for the whole day could this also be an added factor? ah well at least my wizard is ok again!
anichillus when can we expect an updated version? wondering what new tricks are waiting for us hehe.

My messaging app won't open on my Wizard either, just started a few hours ago. I'm running stock WM5.
I'd rather not hard reset, as I don't have backup software yet (I just got the phone a week ago)... did you ever figure out what the problem was? What temp files or registry settings can I check?

did you try to restart the phone? maybe some program just got stock?
I specifically deleted the Temp Folder for email attachment. . although i fixed mine i dont really have an idea on what went wrong. . . sorry i cannot directly help you.

Fortunately, I got things sorted out. Resetting wasn't solving anything, but I figured out that removing my memory card would fix the issue.
I have Outlook set to save attachments to the memory card. It looks like a file got corrupt or something, and was locking the program up. I deleted the folders from the card where attachments were stored, and things are working well again.
(This was after two hard resets and restores from Spb backup... gonna have to buy that program)

Read the forum a lot. there are a lot of tricks here to let you enjoy the full capacity of your phone. . . when well read try Windows Mobile 6 just need to read the instructions first.

I had this problem too on my HTC Touch ELFIN WM 6.0. The folder on SD card used for storing attachments got corrupted. Deleting the folder solved the problem. Removing the storage card would solve it too. This is because tmail.exe checks for storage card and because it doesnt find one it creates a new folder called "Storage Card" in the phone memory and uses that to store attachments. If you then put in your SD card that would become "Storage Card 2". Of course this means that all your shortcuts to stuff on SD card will be broken.

interesting problem on tilt?

hello everyone, long time member of howardforums and just joined xda and find some very usefull info, thank you all. i ran into a small problem last night. i have a tilt , not flashed but i have installed the htc home screen and everything worked great. last night i tryed to install the touchflo program found in a few places in this forum and it didn't work but thats when the interesting stuff happen....after deleting all touchflo cab files and restarting the tilt every time at startup it gives me a warning " FTouchFlo.exe cannot be open, its either not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components can not be found. try reinstalling or restoring file." ????? and now the icon that used to be under the clock for favorite people that would send me their pics so i can just one touch dial is GONE? tryed installing the cab for the htc homescreen again but the same....there is a music short cut that lets me launch the music player that wasn't there before? i downloaded the htc home plugin customisor and even when i set for 6 icons on the bottom of the clock it still just gives me 5?
at the end of the day i would like to have the touchflo program but its not a big deal if i dont, i would however really like to have the pic dialer back on my screen as its really convinient to dial my fav people with it.thanks in advance

Keys are in the registry. To access and change the registry you need a registry viewer/editor. There are many but for simple "everyday" use this is a good one:

Be careful though delete the wrong things and you'll end up needing a hard reset.

PHM downloads as a .MSI windows installer. So it will not install properly unless you have your device connected via active sync when you run the downloaded file. So connect your device via usb cable. Let active sync connect and update. Then while still connected run the installer download. During the process a message will pop up on your device. If a choice is offered it will be ok to install to storage card if you have one.

M2D Weather unable to add a new location :/

When I put m2d onto my elfin, I had no problems, except when i go to the weather tab. It simply says "unable to retrieve data for selected city" even though I didnt select one and i cant click on "add location" in the menu.
Any ideas of how I can get around this and actually add a location?

What version of m2d do u use? do u have custom cities added?

Im not sure what version of M2D it is, because it was included in the ROM that I put on. It was THIS ROM.
I have tried with and without custom cities.
As well as the manilla2d.exe that comes with the custom cities fix,
but it crashed whenever I went onto the weather tab ¬_¬ when using the custom fix .exe

But im not trying to add a custom place to the list, im just trying to choose a place from the list to begin with.

Have you checked out the Rom thread to see if its a rom issue, or pm the chef for advice. Might be worth trying a reflash though.

not being able to use the weather is a small thing, but its annoyed me enough that im giving in. im gonna do a hard reset and then if that doesnt work, ill re-flash.

Well, Ive done a hard reset as I said I would.
It worked fine.
But then, being the ideot that I am, I mucked it up again
I tried what is on THIS thread, which is a tut on how to add custom locations.
When I tried it out, it said it couldnt download the information for this location, and It also wont let me remove the location, or add another.
If i use the manilla.exe from the thread I linked to, it just closes M2D whenever i open the weather page & just goes to "tap here to start manilla 2D"
Ultimately what I want to know, is where is the information stored that tells M2D which locations are actually being used? If i could edit this, I wouldnt have to hard reset again, or loose the weather function.

Did you just edit the xml file or go the whole hog as per scotchua's thread?

i only edited the xml.
plus, removing my custom location didnt help either.

Ok give me your location, and ill edit the xml file for you. Then you can just use t.c as usual to overwrite. Is the weather with normal cities working now at the moment?

well, i have got it working, as of about 5am this morning.
and ive also found that the settings of what locations are to be user are in the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>software>htc>manilla2d>weather:
then its goes into folders counting up in numbers for the different locations you use :3

lol man thats heavy, have you altered anyhting else at all, any manila files? play with the reg? Have you posted anything in that particular rom section?

sadly the ROMs creator doesnt reply much, and everyone else simply comments on things they want from the creator ¬_¬
and the only things ive changed is add a custom location to the weather, chance the location of a couple of images on the home tab (the clock basically) ive edited which tabs are enabled or disabled..
plus ive played about with the image files :/
ive edited some of them, or used files from other themes and copied them across to the windows directory using total commander, because manilla 2d customizer never works on my phone, no matter what rom im using (another problem :/ )
but yeh, when i searched for any issues other people have had with the messages tab crashing, the only thing i read about was someone who had trouble copying the files. and ive had an error at one point.
(i have re-coppied my haxord image files across withe no problem since mind)
so yeh, im a bit lost as to what it could be

mmm werid man... i hate saying it, but you considered flashing a different rom? Kinda defeatist (which is why i hate sayin it) but i cant understand what your doing wrong (if anything)

thing is, i dont really look through my texts that much, so having it disabled isnt a big loss. I might remove the email tab too, as thats prety much unused too.
it just would have been nice for it to work

also, i must add that im not gonna change this ROM for AGES :O
its the quickest ROM i have ever used, and ive used plenty
plus, i had been trying to create a theme and then i randomly came across this ROM and saw in the screenshots, the exact image of what i wanted my theme to be like, so stopped making the theme and downloaded the rom.
