help please

Hi after putting the official t mobile upgrade on my english mda compat all was well for about 3 weeks then disaster.
If i hard reset and let it load the tmobile custom then when i go in to contacts and load contacts from sim card tthe phone starts playing up big time
If i highlite 1 contact it will not actualey dial that 1 contact but it highlites as many as the styles is draged across
Also if I go into file explorer and try opening the storage card it will open sd card but when i tap a file it just highlites it and all other files that styles is draged across ... please somebody help ...
any ideas ..
even just abuse about me being a newbie is better than the last post i put with 46 viewings and not 1 reply!!!!!!

Since you now got all these problems, why not try to upgrade to 1.13 or reinstall the 1.12? It might help you. Guess it won't be a good idea to put a backup back on your mda after reinstalling or upgrading.

I have tried putting different roms on it taken from this forum but I either get an id/country code error or it gives me the same problem .
I am only useing the roms that are exe files as I am not brave enough to use all the other programs like maug? or what ever it is ....
If i can wipe my mda clean then try putting one back on I hope this will do the trick
So to anybody out there please can you tell me which roms to use or how I can sort my big problem out, that would be nice ..

billbob, download this 1.13 WWE upgrade from here: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/NL_11300_131_11200.exe
When it's downloaded:
1) Using WINZIP, extract the EXE file to any folder you like.
2) Once you have extracted the files into your directory, download the file attached down here and copy it into the same folder as the files.
3) Double click on the ActiveSync icon, then go File -> Connection Settings
4) Untick Allow USB connection
5) Then run this attached file (MaUpgradeUtNoId.exe) from the folder. It may give you a country id error the first time you run it. If it does, just run it again and it will work!
Hope it fixes your problem. If it doesn't at least you would have the latest ROM ;-)

And when you're really really desperate and want a 'clean' device, so the upgrade program doesn't see your versionz: give it a hard-reset and when the first screen shows after the splash or anytime before you finish the init. procedure give a softreset. This way you won't have an OS so the getdevicedata function is NOT working and the upgrade software will report you're upgrading from version 'blanks only'.
I did it myself but won't recommend it.
Hope you don't need this tip.

Tried the all new 1.13.00 upgrade and loaded on my contact and hey all was well loaded tomtom on and all still great .finally got to bed at 1.30am
Now to some thats not late but considering i have to be up for work at 5am and then drive a lorry that weighs just under 44tonnes (why do so many people eat heinz soup) this kind of sleep pattern is not a good idea
after weaving my way to the drop off point where i would get some sleep I noticed that the phone had gone in to align screen mode
so phoned t mobile for help .nice person told me "oh your rom is newer than the one on the mda she had and did i do a hard reset after new rom upgrade ?"
anyway did as told and still same problem

The contacts cannot be accessed1 at a time
File explorer will not open the file that the stylus is highlighting
the calender hard button puts the phone into align screen mode
this problem happens with diffrent roms on the phone so am thinking WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?????
will be speaking to tmobile tommorow and they may tell me its my fault
so please all you nice kind clever (no we wont put good looking this time )lovely people any help ???????

lady I spoke to today sounded impressed that i had 1.13 version on mda will she will be calling me tommorow to advise me what to do
aparently 1 of the engineres was upgradeing his at time of my phone call so that may hav ehelped with my case for them to sort it will tell all tomorrow night

Cannot find the thread, the guy/girl didn't use correct English (mine isn't perfect too, I know) and I remember that 'stylus' was spelled funny. Searching hasn't provided me with the thread I'm looking for.
By the way, the roms you've tried were they shipped or modified? Or both, otherwise I would have tried a shipped one, guess you've done that by now, don't you?

Not to be critical of this wonderful website which is full of great resources but, I have noticed that the useful info is hard to find.
So I thought it might be a good idea to post all of my items in the one place so here goes.
I will update these as i go.
TIP
If you want the CAB Files in remain in your PPC after install simply change the files preferences to "Read Only"

verry nice indeed but there are simpler ways of doing the discribed below
(copied this out of pdf file )
3. Copying your “Extended ROM” Files before Big Storage
You need to copy the files from your “Extended ROM” before you go the Big Storage as you will need to install some of them after you’re finished, i.e. MMS etc. They will be deleted after the upgrade (and that’s the whole point).
a. To copy them from your Magician do a hard reset (push the power button and reset button at the same time).
b. Go through the screen alignment, time zone etc and get ready…….. when you reach the “Completed” screen it will ask you to “Tap your screen…. As soon as you tap the screen you get 3 sec to soft reset (push the reset button). If you miss it as I did just do a hard reset and try again.
c. After you do b. above go to the built in file explorer and under “My Device” you will now see the treasured “Extended_ROM” with all its files. Copy the directory straight to your SD Card then to your PC, keep them safe.
its just a bit easyer when you just fill in
go to windows folder on PPC and search loadvdisk.exe
run it and you will see your ext_rom (until you reset )
not to sure the usual file explorer can do this but Resco file explorer will find it
another progie that can find it is total commander :

By the way, and i think these questions are more tricky, is there any way NOT to charge the battery while the phone is connected to the USB?
And while using the calling software, when inputing the nunbers, to make the sim card entries dissapear and only have the ones that are in the contacts? Because most of the times i have a double entry and it really makes me mad!

The way to NOT to charge the battarie is to make some changes to your cable - cut +5v from USB (or make a switch).

the tray launch only app.... theres now way to BROWSE for the program you want on the tray?

Noob question here.
Once i install the camera & album to Storage how do i delete it from the \windows . Maybe not possible due to it being in ROM. In this case I end up with 2 camera software? So i'm curious what is the idea of installing in storage.

but my camera version was 2.70 (build 18727) and it is still the same. I reset the device but still didnt become build 2026.

Thanks a lot for your kind offer. I manage to pull up the files from the FTP using cuteFTP software. Some how my company laptop doesn't allow default browser connection....
My phone is O2 mini and has v.1.13 for both rom & radio. I think it's BigStorage (not sure though).
Any good advice for me? I mean anything at all....

Kaiser and WM5torage

This seems to come up a lot in just about every new ROM thread at one point or another so I just thought I'd throw it out there how I have got wm5torage to work on EVERY ROM I have tried (and I've tried just about all of them discounting the most recent ones as I haven't flashed in a while).
Basically all I have had to do to get it working is install Card Export II. You don't have to ever open it but I believe it comes with a driver update or something (don't ask me, maybe one of the cooks knows for sure) that makes the mass storage mode work on the Kaiser. Then just leave Card Export II on the device and use WM5torage as if Card Export wasn't there. Works like a charm every time, at least in my experience.
Hopefully I'm not double posting this and can help a few people out with this.

my guess is that I only have to add ce2.dll and ce2ui.dll to windows folder and wm5torage should work I'll test it right away

I gave this a try. I copied ce2.dll and ce2ui.dll to \windows and then installed WM5Storage. After a soft-reset, I activated the link and connected my Tilt. My PC detected it as a USB mass storage and went through the installation process, but, then, after that my PC was unbearably slow until I deactivated the link. Same thing happened on my second try.

I made a cab form wm5torage with the dll's from Card Export I havn't tried the cab but it's working when I cooked it into my rom as a oem pack

isn't working working for me... Installed - tried to start it - locked up my phone - soft reset - said it was going to install card export - 'failed to install' then 'sucessfully installed' - still no wm5 storage, it just locks up my phone - gullum rom

I just tried the cab and report the same stuff. It froze when activating wm5torage.

I do the samething...but has anyone tried to see if it still works after the trial period expires...the reason why I haven't tried that is because i'm always reflashing my device almost every other week and never had the trial version expire since I always re-install from scratch...

c'mon guys, why are you opening the same issue? why don't you better search!? it has been already solved, we know, that WM5torage is working when CE2 is installed.. also know, that MW5torage will work, when CE2 trial is expired. as far, as i tested - CE2 NEEDS to be installed to have WM5 working - you can not just copy files into windows. it will not work (at least on kaiser)!

Hey, I apologized in the first post in the event that I was double posting a solution. I did do a search before posting it but posted for two reasons:
1. When I did search I did not find this particular solution (upon a second search I did find it but I had to read through a thread a bit before I got to it).
2. As mentioned in my first paragraph, this issue is CONSTANTLY coming back up, be it in the form of a new thread or in the form of 40+ people spamming up a perfectly good release thread with "WM5torage doesn't work, has anyone else got it to work!!!!!" making it harder to find legitimate information about a new ROM release.
I understand that the forums are getting increasingly cluttered with unnecessary threads/posts, but please refrain from "Use the search tool!" posts and thereby adding to the clutter. Yes, we all know by now that the search tool is available. No, we don't always find what we're looking for when we use it, especially when our answers are on page 43 of the thread (no, mine wasn't in this case but we've all been in that situation). If you really want to help with this issue, submit a link to the post that has the solution. If you don't have time to do that, great, send a PM to the person who opened the thread and let them know that the issue has been solved previously and they can direct people to the right thread. Otherwise, just let the thread die as it will inevitably do if it is not necessary.

Sorry, but I just tried that (Official HTC rom, installed WM5torage, soft-reset, installed cardexport II, soft reset), but still not working
It is working with cardExport II, so I would guess that WM5torage is not using the right dlls
Somebody mentionned that already and was telling that it must be on a cooked rom ?? Which rom would allow that ?

don't know how to get it working. I spent a while trying to get it to work, and then I just gave up. I could never get it to work at all. I have CardExport working in trial mode, but I didn't want to pay for it. Its best just to move on from this unless you find a rom with it built in already...which I never have found. ROMeOS was going to try to do it once, but that project has been discontinued.

Camera and Backup?

Hey all,
I'm have problems with my camera... Everytime I try to take a picture, the following message appears;
Unable to capture.
Not enough memory.
36001:111:0
But yet, both my sd card and internal memory have a lot of space available. Yet, the cam stopped working a few days ago on its own. Any fix for that???
At the same time, can someone tell me how to change the folder where to save the pictures? Like redirecting them to my sd card??? I've done that b4, but I forgot how.... Things we forget sometimes...
Also, I'd like to use something like SPB backup to backup the information on my phone, especially my contact list in the internal memory. I want to upgrade to TNT 19213 Vanilla. It has WM6.1, which is mainly what I want.

dude, are you writing a blog or something?
PIM backup is what you need to backup your contacts.
use the task manager to kill what ever process is draining your ram for the camera.
search for those.

I'll check Pim backup and see what I get. By the way, I've tried task manager, cut out all the op's that drain power to the whole unit! And it still gives me the message...
Well, I suppose that it might fix the problem if I'd change rom. But for now, I'd like to have the camera handy, capture that funny moment - for kicks!

Yeah in the tools there is a choice of where to store. Are you using the original rom or a flashed? it may be a problem with the flashed rom. AFter unlocking always flash your carriers rom (WM5) before flashing a new rom as some roms seem to leave residue that corrupt you new. Also SPL of 3.06 will speed your boot and i like the radio 2.71 as there is not missed calles bug. That and 2.19 are the best.

Youtube App Warning Storage Is Full ??

(Leo youtube app, not sure if its the same)
So yeah my 512mb of ROM is getting pretty full with me installing loads new apps. I went onto the youtube app and as soon as I load it up I get an error message saying Warning storage is full and when I tap ok, the program closes so I dont get the chance to change the storage settings to my memory card (if thats the problem) So I deleted some temporary files in the youtubes program folder and I even uninstalled a few apps but I still get that problem...
any ideas on what to do?

I'm experiencing the same kind of problem, with the same message only in dutch: "opslag is vol".. I haven't found a solution jet..
But i have it since a day, and i have plenty of memory available on my Leo..
I'm on stock 1.48 rom...
I'd hate to hard reset my phone :S.. But if i can't figure it out is a good start a nice cooked rom mabye

go to file explorer/windows/youtube. there should be a lot of files there. delete those and it should work. i had the same problem and after i deleted those files, its working again.

Yes marctown78, i did what you said and it works, thank you very much. btw, i did not delete them one by one. I use "select all", which include those "favorite" and "channel" folders, and deleted them all. and the youtube still works fine.

i used to get this, i used the cleanram program to clear down any unneeded processes and woulod fix the issue, i have a schedule set up which runs the cleanram program every day and havent had the issue since.

Cheers. I did try this but it didn't seem to work straight off.
For some reason it is now functioning again.

had that problem too but it is storage memory not program memory u have to have about 10mb of free space available for youtube to run kinda strange though but thats what I figure out, what I do is install the apps that I like on memory card and the ones that r essential to phone memory so I have more free space.

Thanks Kikill, I tried to delete inside youtube folder only; it does not work(I only have 7mb left in my device, 6mb before the deletion inside youtube folder), it TURNS OUT as per your suggestion, we need extra space.
The day before my youtube was working, and I downloaded some movies that were stored in my device, and suddenly my youtube is not working; thus, I clean up my other folders as well and get around 60mb back and this time it is back to normal.

I tried this also but there is no option in youtube, I've looked through the registry and can only find in
HKLM-SOFTWARE-HTC-YOUTUBE-TempFileLocation
but don't know what to do from there, can someone enlighten me?

Well i recently have this problem on my HD2, after some testing i found that the app needs 10mb of free space on device storage to run, if you have less you will get the error.
