[Q] Email signature change - T-Mobile LG G2x

Damn T-Mobile. They locked the email signature to their stupid slogan. It doesn't stick when I try to change it. I use corporate email and thus have to delete it and add my own on every email.
Is there a way around this?

No. There is another thread on this.

I want to change my xda signature

So there is no way to change even if you have a custom Roms???

You sure you are doing it correctly. I have the stock Gingerbread ROM and I have changed my signature with no problem (phone network unlocked and not being used on TMO). In the gmail app did you go into More, Settings, click on account, click on signature, change signature and click ok.

Permanent T-mobile signature in emails!!

So, I was just sending an email through my phone and I see "T-mobile. America's First Nationwide 4G Network" Good for you t-mobile.
Anyways, Its permanent!! I've went to account settings and deleted it and press done. Press signature again and its there. Then I uncheck 'include signature'. Done. Go back to signature option and its rechecked. So I unchecked again, done. Tried composing an email and its still there..................
What's going on here..?
Anyone have the same issue?

I just noticed the same issue. I thought it was because my G2x was just powering down randomly and not storing the signature for some reason. But I did the change, done, then right back into the edit and it was t-mobile....
I can't wait to have some time to root this and get the latest from Cyanogen.
Yea. Tmobile had their hand in the cookie jar again.
Here is how you fix it (I'll post it again here)
This requires root.
Go into [Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Email] and clear the cache.
Download the attached Email.apk and put it on your SD card.
Using Root Explorer, navigate to /system/app
Rename the existing "Email.apk" to "Email.apk.bak"
Copy the attached Email.apk to /system/app and run it.
Launch your new Email app and set back up. Enjoy your new signature.
I had the same problem. Thanks for the app, problem solved.

There are special libs that work with Kineto.apk. They are located in /system/lib, they are:
libganril.so
libkineto.so
librilswitch.so
They all must be on the phone to make wifi calling work. Will they work flawlessly on her phone? I honestly don't know, but that's how it is on the G2x. I never even heard of that phone
I'll try pushing
libganril.so
libkineto.so
librilswitch.so
into her system/lib folder and see what happens. Do i need to link these shared obj files or can i just place them?

Yes i am aware that the wifi calling apk is for t mobile. I figured i might give it a try though and see what happens. Maybe thats a dead end. So, I have nettalk on her phone at the moment but it only works on out going calls and gives her a different number. I need something similar to t mobile wi-fi calling that allows her to keep her number? I am willing to buy from the market. One time fee though. Nothing like pay per call or credited accounts. Ideas?

There is no way the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling app will work for you. Regardless of if you can get the app to run on the phone, it requires specific support on the carrier side to work.

Yeah i have thought about doing that but from what I've heard, she gets assigned a GV number and is not able to keep her old one. It's like having a whole new number. then she would have to hand that out. Thats why i have been hesitant and left this as my last resort. But hey, something is better than nothing any day in my book!!
Or am i wrong? Does she get to keep/use her old one?

Galaxy S III locked

Hi, I have an S III with a pin unlock code. I was able to get into my phone just fine, untill a few minutes ago I was able to get into my phone.
Now its simply locked and I cannot enter.
Any ideas? There are important family pictures.
Punch in the correct code?
I'm not trying to be facetious, but it's highly unlikely that the code just changed on its own.
Have you tried a battery pull and reset?

OK, there is an issue with select Motorola Photon Q's where the MMS function doesn't work on the stock messaging application. I actually had mine replaced over the issue, as I was unable to send or receive MMS. This should not be an issue with the network. From my understanding, Sprint is aware of the issue, as the store I bought my phone at called them to try to fix the issue. So, an OTA should come out with the fix.
Now, there is a workaround that has worked for me. Use another messaging app, such as Go SMS Pro, and MMS will work.

So glad I found this thread..On my third Photon Q in three days. First had a defective vibrate motor..the second would not send or receive MMS unless using WiFi so they replaced it. Third one is doing the same thing. Just installed Handcent SMS and its working perfect using the 3G. Maybe someone should forward this to Sprint? I after two hours wasted with tech support and several tickets created, I am thrilled with the phone now. I love everything about it except the MMS not working. Thanks guy!!
There has been a fix for this issue as per the Sprint discussion board. I have verified it has fixed my MMS problem. You will need your MSL to change a setting, if you dont have it you need to call sprint or use another method to obtain it. It appears some data profile usernames were borked during provisioning
Steps to follow:
1. Open your dial pad and dial ##3282#
2. Tap on Data Profile
3. Look at your username, mine ended in ".comom"
4. If yours is obviously wrong (like mine), fix it, save it and then reboot phone.
5. good to go.
Yepe... Mine says .compcs.com... Gonna have to call Sprint.
Thanks for this.

[POLL] Tethering & AT&T Visual Voice Mail

Alright guys,
As most of you may already know, AT&T has been sending letters out claiming that users are tethering. I want to start a poll and see out of all you that received this letter or text. How many of you have AT&T Visual Voice Mail installed on your phone. Doesn't matter if you use it or not.
Reason being is that if you guys haven't seen the permissions for VVM this is what two of them are:
Network Communication:
View Network Connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected
System Tools
Retrieve Running Apps
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. This may allow the app to discover information about which applications are used on the device
Reason for this poll is to see if VVM is what is notifying AT&T of the "Tethering" Activities.
To clarify on the poll answers:
If you have VVM frozen then consider it as not having it installed.
i use vvm. i used foxfi and got the letter. sad.

With AT&T VVM installed, I was using the built-in AOKP tethering and I got the letter.
I have VVM and have used the Clockworkmod Tether app, which does USB tethering, never gotten a letter.
Alright, you guys are going to love this. So I just called AT&T about the letter. I figured I'd stick with the "play dumb" approach. I said I didn't know what it was about and I couldn't figure out how to tether anyway. Blah blah blah.. he said that when tethering use is reported over the network, the technicians verify it through "multiple redundant verification". I told him that after we got the letter, I tried to see if I could tether and that my phone wouldn't let me. He then stated "well, there are lots of apps that can let you tether," and he proceeded to rattle off a prepared list of apps including FoxFi and a dozen or so others.
This is where it got interesting. He proceeded to tell me that according to their technicians, "You're not even using the stock firmware". I replied, "the what whatter?" (sticking with my "play dumb" approach) and he responded, "You know, the stock operating system that came with your phone or that AT&T updated over the air."
If you use their apps, they can see everything. And it can't be long before they figure out a way to see everything without secretly spying on you with an app.

This kind of meshes with a conversation I had the other day with my AT&T contact. He said that there's been a lot of effort lately put into finding rooted devices on the network and getting them off.
I think at this point we can safely say that any AT&T-provided stock app is to be considered spyware, and should be removed from the phone entirely (not frozen, deleted with phone caches wiped) the second you root.
That said, there's nothing stopping them from putting silent tracker apps elsewhere in the phone and hiding them completely. Here's the fun part: the contracts don't say anything about rooting the phone, do they? If they start kicking root users off the network or forcing us to change off of unlimited data because we've rooted our phone, they'd be begging for a class-action lawsuit.

Especially when the US Supreme Court ruled that it was completely legal for us to root our phones. They just don't have to provide technical support for rooted phones.

Delete it entirely using Tibu. VVM is not a critical system process, and I don't trust that app at all.
I've been going through a lot of AT&T apps and most of them have the spyware on them.
As for being able to know if you are running stock firmware or not, I'm shocked to hear that.
As a community I think it's safe to say that no AT&T app can be trusted. They are using something to be able to gather information, we just have to figure out what it is.

It's pretty safe to assume that this and all current AT&T apps have spyware built in.
