Just wanted to say thanks to all the devs out there who spend countless hours into making great ROMs.
I wanna thank everyone who has ever helped me in past.
I got rid of my Captivate and snagged a iPhone 4, I presume I will be banned after this post. Lol
On a serious note, this place is great and I will continue to troll while I wait for another phone to come out.

Lol I'm all over their scheme, checked out the Atrix while I was getting my mini sim and it seemed very dull.

I'm coming over to USCC from Verizon (and my Thunderbolt, which I liked, when I was near a charger) because I changed jobs and Verizon doesn't have service where I work. However, even without service, the Thunderbolt seems to be a better phone than this Mesmerize.
So, is it my phone, or do I need a custom ROM:
Bluetooth sucks - half the time it doesn't connect, sometimes it drops out, it pairs with devices but then won't use them.
Notification sounds are slow and choppy, as are ringtones and alarms
It locks up
Video playback is choppy to the point of being unusable
Now, I LOVE the screen - it's beautiful, and works well. These problems all cropped back up even after a clean wipe. I did use Launcher Pro instead of the samsung launcher, and got rid of live wallpaper. I used a task killer to see if that would help. Nope. Basically, I need to reboot the phone before I make a call. Is it my phone, is there a trick, do I need a custom rom?
I would suggest the Heinz 57 ROM. It includes a voodoo kernel that can be overclocked and undervolted for battery life and performance. I have had great luck with this combo. Aslo, welcome to the mesmerize. With the right ROM/Kernel combo it is an amazing phone.

Frankly, it sounds like you either got a lemon or this is all user error. Because that's an odd rap sheet of issues to be having with a new phone.

That's really helpful, thank you. I'm not saying I don't like the phone, I just don't know if mine is a bad apple, or if there are good tweaks to use.

If it shipped with 2.2 it's probably normal to have issues, where 2.1 was a way more solid build. Either way, the issues you're reporting aren't common so you could try a custom ROM or a reflash of stock to see if you still have them, if so then you're phone is ****ed

People often balk at the idea of online petitions, but nowadays, getting enough people to complain on Facebook and Twitter will change a company's tune real quick. Look how quickly HTC changed up their bootloader policy and at how they decided to give Desire users Gingerbread after telling them it wasn't possible. Such a campaign would be the last thing T-Mobile or LG needs, especially since LG said they were counting on their Optimus line of phones to help them profit after announcing a loss last quarter. At least we know fixes are coming soon for our phone. LG promised Gingerbread to Optimus One users back in December and they haven't heard a peep since then...

I can't help but wonder if the complaints here on xda are actually representative of all G2X owners, or if there is a very vocal minority that are having legitimate problems, but we just don't hear from all the satisfied owners. Mayne I'm wrong, but I can't help but wonder.

I'm a more than satisfied G2x owner who has no issues with their phone.
I'm most certainly in. Let's create a little twitter hashtag for everyone to use. Kind of like #NeverAgain.
Now, I know some people will be out because "its the best phone (they've) owned. That's fine. I just want a phone that works.

As with all devices, most users are not knowledgable of XDA, and don't browse the forums. So, this is a minority, probably, but we feel as though the problems exist universally.
I'm getting a Sensation, it's on the way. I'm keeping my G2X until the update. Now that I have the clarity of no more screw ups in my future, I can wait. If they get the bugs out of this phone it will be the best thing out there. And I'll come back in a flash.
Fix it, don't recall it.
I wanted to say thank you so much to all the wonderful devs here for all of their efforts making the Captivate a better phone than Samsung could. Please don't flame me, this isn't a knock on the Captivate, I loved the device even with it's flaws. I will miss the Captivate forum, yesterday I jumped to T-Mobile, better rates and they have dual core phones. I got an HTC Sensation and I love it.I will miss my Cappy but I couldn't deal with Samsung's shortfalls any longer, I want a device that works as it should out of the box. I also would like timely updates which AT&T proved they suck at providing. Happy flashing to all and thanks for the wonderful support provided by the community.

You can't blame the hardware for crappy made software from the service provider or user error from bricking. I have never done anything that I couldn't fix and that wasn't my fault...
The fact that you CAN make it better by flashing new software proves that the hardware is adequate. The only thing you could perhaps complain about is gps but if you're that dependent on it maybe you should take some time learning your way around...

I have switched over to Sprint and nabbed a SGS2 Epic Touch 4g. I jus would like to thank everyone on the G2X forums, the trolls, the DEVS, and the people who actually help one another by directing them to the right links to make their G2X experience awesome and jus right for them.
P.S I'm really missing my G2X running Miui on Faux. Time for me to move over to the Epic 4G Touch page. But G2X will remain in my Favorites.

SGSII is still a better phone...
You're right. People DO dumb **** all the time...like insinuate that ICS will keep a device relevant after it's out of date.
Got my SGSII today, as well. The TMo version, but nonetheless. A SUBSTANTIAL upgrade.
In my opinion, this wasn't a smart decision, especially considering the fact that the GSIII should be announced soon... You could've held off for a little bit longer!

Maybe he got it dirt cheap.
Trying to stay on the top of the technology curve with Android is impossible unless you have plenty of money to burn. I try to get a year or 18 months then upgrade. ICS is definitely keeping me with the G2x for the time being.

Pretty naive for you to say that. You'd be a fool to even think the G2x is remotely better than the SGS2.
Better processor, more RAM, bigger/better screen, and most importantly, actual support from Samsung as opposed to the lack there of from LG.
