Loving my G-tab with VegaN-beta3. Question for all the more experienced users/devs -- have any of you noticed a significant battery drain while in sleep mode?
From a fully charged g-tab, I put it into airplane mode so no radios are on, and then power the unit into suspend mode. After ONE hour I check the battery by turning the unit on and the meter says 95% now.
My question is this "normal" behavior. This seems kind of high drain for a g-tab in sleep mode. I suppose I can try resetting the battery statistics by booting into CWM recovery.
I don't know this is related at all, but I just installed VegaN B3 last night and with my charger plugged in it didn't charge beyond 95%.

You might want to reset your battery meter:

That seems high to me too. I would say about 1% per hour actual battery usage during sleep mode (with wifi off) seems to be the norm on my G Tablet. Not even sure why it's that high for me, honestly, and when I have some time I've been meaning to experiment with disabling background services before putting it to sleep and seeing if that changes the sleeping battery usage significantly.
Definitely, I'd start out with clearing battery stats and seeing if that helps.
My build number is HTK75.US_epad-8.6.5.13-20110925, I have both a docking station and a tablet.
When I have the tablet plugged into the Dock, I still have the docking station drain issue. If I leave the screen turned off with the dockingstation plugged in, I get about 1 day of use before the battery is drained (This is with out using the tablet at all).
If I have them seperated and I do not use the tablet, the tablet alone will last for 3-4 days on standby (the screen off).
ASUS is recommending RMA, does anybody here have feedback before I send in my tablet and Dock?
Thanks in advance,
Brandon

Had the same issue. It is not a hardware issue, RMA won't help. I'm running revolution HD and the problem is fixed. I now drain about 2-3% in 8 hours in standby.
i have the same problem running Prime 2.0.4. Been debating calling support, but i'll give revolution a try tomorrow and see what happens.
Hard reset cured it for me.
I guess you already have tried this:
1. Click on <Apps> on the home screen
2. Click on <Settings>
3. Click on <Screen>
4. Make sure that <MobileDock Battery saving mode> is ticked
And after this make sure to turn off the screen with the power button, otherwise it may not go to deep sleep, it is definitely a software bug, which I'm not sure why they don't fix it (I have a B80, tablet+dock)

You need to send in the Dock to get ASUS to change the circuit board. The earlier docks are able to wake-up the tablet by pressing on any buttons on the keyboard. If you can do that with yours, then you need to RMA it for the issue to even be remotely fixed.
I've got battery saving mode enabled and pressing a key on my dock wont wake up the tablet, but when i put it to sleep , both batteries are completely drained within 48 hrs. Separate, they will both last all week.
if you guys are interested, i may point your attention to this thread (pages 22 and 23), where i have posted that i got my transformer back from repairs with successful results
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287799
the revolution rom seems to be working great, but i'd love to be able to use prime and not have the battery drain. i'm wondering if it is a hardware issue, but revolution's clocking settings overcome that by reducing the cpu while its asleep, and prime doesnt do that by default.
I might try prime with some different setcpu profiles to see what happens..
from the points discussed I would say that although it might not be caused by a software issue, at least it should be fixable with software. It's very simple: IF (AND (any keyboard key pressed=TRUE, deep sleep mode=TRUE),IGNORE,...)
I'm having the same problem and it's pretty annoying. I also noticed that after the tablet turns off I have no access to the keyboard until I undock it and then dock it again.

I agree that there was a hardware issue with the Dock, I exchanged my dock for a newer model the first time that they had the sleep mode issue some time ago. Changing the dock fixed the sleep mode issue at that time. They broke the sleep mode again with the last firmware update, so I don't believe the fix is just to replace the dock, because I have the dreaded sleep mode issue AGAIN!
There seems to be a problem with the latest firmware that affects the handover between the AC adapter and the dock batteries. The transformer will not go into deep sleep mode if it has been connected to the charger (as determined by cpuspy) giving ongoing dock battery drain.
If I reboot the device after the charger is disconnected, then deep sleep mode works as intended and battery life is once again awesome. This may be due to an application conflict of some sort, but as yet I am unable to track down the offending app.
Tldr; Reboot after disconnecting from AC to reenable deep sleep mode

Does setting your screen brightness to AUTO make a difference? (vs. manual setting a level).

Doesn't seem to make a difference - my transformer is set on AUTO brightness by default anyway. It definitely seems to be related to the newer firmware - I had no problems with battery drain under the previous firmware so it is fairly unlikely to be a hardware issue.
Well, the other day I did a shed load of app updates and the battery has been draining over 5% an hour in standby mode since. CPU spy shows that it isn't deep sleeping. Looked at Advanced Task Manager and Maps was constantly restarting every time I stopped it. I've now force stopped Maps and the battery problem seems to have gone away. If it works I'll restart Maps and see what happens.
Well I bit the bullet, rooted my transformer and installed Prime. It's been almost 24 hours and the battery level has barely moved. Let's hope that it stays that way.
Well, after further testing, it wasn't Maps that was causing my battery drain problem but Samsung's own app, MyNet. I force stopped it (I've never used it) and everything seems to be okay.

this helped me.
every time my tablet is docked the battery drains like crazy and both units are dead after one full day and night even sitting idle.
i tried undocking the tablet and rebooting the tablet and leaving it idle and that worked and helped maintain battery life in the tablet. only lost 4% over night
but i still wanted to use my dock.
i charged the dock and tablet together and then after i unplugged the AC cord from the dock, i performed a reboot and then started up CPUSPY and closed the tablet clamshell.
woke up this moning and only lost 4% over night.
while im still jealous that my ipad2 will only lose 4% over a 4 day period staying idle, im still happier that i only lost 4% over night from dock and tablet together compared to being dead over day/night idle.
so to recap, if you have tablet docked and charging. remove the charger and then reboot your system and then your battery drain should be gone. if you dont reboot tablet and dock after removing AC power then your system will drain battery all day and never enter deep sleep.
thanks!
I am on Sky ICS and my phone just doesn't go into deep sleep. Downloaded CPU spy and it just sits at 384mhz. Also I am not sure how to fix this nor get the best battery life. Any help would be greatful.
Not sure about your particular issue but out of curiousity.. does being connected to wifi (with or without cell service) at all prevent deep sleep? I've noticed mine will occassionally sit at 384 also, but eventually does deep sleep.
@cruiz83 - I'm pretty sure there are apps available that can pinpoint the reasoning, such as BetterBatteryStats.. atleast that's what I remember reading in a similar thread before.
Perhaps booting without the sim and setting *#2273# to auto would help this?

Known issue when using a non-standard charging setup; e.g. car charger, etc. Using the OEM charger will resolve the problem; also, I've seen it "fix" the issue when connecting to a PC USB port.

could you elaborate on this? how does using a non-standard charger keep the phone from deep-sleep when it's not charging?
I think what happens is that the kernel wave lock vbus_present stays active. This tells the device that the usb connection is active and stays awake. It happened to me today with my third party usb car charger. Once I plugged it into my PC for a bit, it solved the problem. Why this happens I don't exactly remember.
Correct me if I am wrong.

After fully charging your phone, reboot. This seems to fix the deep sleep bug, at least for me. You can use CPU Test and reset timers and test if your phone is going to deep sleep properly with this method. Right now, my phone has 59% deep sleep. Screen on time is 29 mins out of 1 hour, 11 minutes on time.
My tablet was all OK until son let battery drain (feel asleep watching YouTube).
Tried charging multiple ways (Samsung original charger) no good.
Wife has same tablet, fully charged the battery on hers then swopped batteries.
Sure enough faulty battery completly flat, recharged and now using her tablet OK to post this query.
My tablet now has proven charged battery in it, but still will not power up ( no signs of life at all).
Any ideas what else I could try please?
