Hey guys,
I created a dock for my Galaxy S out of LEGO
Here are some pictures:
Tell me what you think, please
Great idea but pics are tiny on my phone

That is awesome!
Nice one! But what does your son/girl thinks about the missin' parts in her/his lego set? :-D
Uhm, I'm still a student, so I don't have any kids, but when I was younger, I played a lot with lego
lol NICE!! I did this for my iPhone 3G back in the day haha
Yes! I remember playing with Lego for hours when I was a kid -- wish I still had it around so I could make one of these.
@Shadewalkerz you should buy Lego Technic! Can you share your wallpaper, please?
amazing job. mind creating a post with a list of pieces?
what's up with the puzzle?
whatever you are studying, must be very boring if you have time for that stuff

I just finished the model in the digital designer, attached it
But as the digital designer doesnt have those hinge plates, I had to put red plates in place of them. Don't forget to replace the red plates with the black hinge plates. After that, you can attach the white blocks at the right on the back of the hinge plates. If you need a pic, look at the first page.
After you've done that, attach some long plates to the hinge plates to hold the phone. The dock works also without them, but it'll be more stable
Sorry if my English is not perfect, I'm German.
Anyway, thanks for your opinions! Hope you enjoy it

I believe so.
Check the faqs section, seems like it's available for download in the email confirmation you receive upon purchase of their custom skin:
http://gelaskins.com/faq.php#Question15
No screen protector included it seems.
Here's a video on YouTube demonstrating how to apply the skin on the Nexus One. Guys, this brings back nightmares of me applying my screen protector... it looks a tad fiddly!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm33YleWEJA
I used these a lot in my (ahem) iPhone days. They're much easier to put on than screen protectors/invisible shields etc as they're more of a sort of thick lino sort of finish than a floppy bit of acetate.

It was fairly easy actually. There were a few sticky bits around the edges but only glue. None of the surface plastic was torn off when removing the sticker.
When are these coming to the UK? I just tried to order one and it wanted to charge me $20 for shipping. Liberties!
These skins look great, but a set of skin costs $23 including shipping, I'll pass!
I think they look great. I wouldnt mind designing one myself but they dont seem to have the Desire template ..

Hey guys I have polished the frame of my HTC Sensation 4G. My phone now looks like it should be in the window at some high end luxury retailer. I wrote up a tutorial on my blog for anyone who wants to do theirs. Lots of Pictures too.

Wow! Great job that looks amazing. I dropped my phone recently. Do you think the sanding will get out a couple of small scratches?

WOW that looks great! I might have to do this. How easy was it to get it that shiny?
I did this to my HD2 but gave up before achieving the chrome finish. It took forever to get the finish off & my hands started aching(carpal tunnel), so it ended up with a brushed metal finish instead. Still looked cool, though.

Yeah it took me about 6 hours ( including clean up time ). My finger tips are very sore. The Metal Polish Creme makes all the difference. You can get it most AutoParts Stores. Autozone locally carries it ( runs about $6 for the jar )

I agree. They could even charge a premium for this, and for those into the bling, some small diamonds could be nicely mounted in the ear piece. The pictures don't do it justice. It looks amazing in person.

That would take all of 5 minutes on a good buffing wheel. Start with some Tripoli on a loose wheel and finish with some jeweler's rouge on a smaller flannel wheel, it will shine like chrome on a wannabe's Harley.

I didn't think of that. if its made of aluminum, then it definately could be done.
Looks hella clean! Imma do this to mines once it starts to get scratches xP
I have a template for a touchpad skin (like the one on gelaskins)
Can I have someone test it out for me by just printing it on normal paper and cutting it out using scissors to see if it works? My printer has gone boom and apart from this I have no need to buy a new one.
Of course if it works, you guys and girls can use it for yourselves, just hit the thanks button for me !

Yes, I printed it out. Sorry not to reply earlier. The image looks great, but on 8 1/2" x 11" paper it is too small to use as a template. Both front and back print side by side on the same sheet - basically at half size and my printer won't take a larger sheet of paper.
Can you separate the front and back - basically place one template per page?

I printed out the back and placed it on the back of my Touchpad. As you can see, the size is still too small but the proportions seem pretty good. The design behind your template is a skin I already have on the back of my device.
Hope this helps!

I kept it small on purpose cuz if it covers the entire back then the corners start to fold up and crease.....we could snip sections off the corners and work that way if people want to I'm open to suggestions. It seems like i need to try and make it bigger perhaps by 10%. I'll update the links soon
What about the front?

To be honest it is possible but i don't have the equipment the pro companies have to scan the devices and measuring them up, but yes it is possible

Just wanted to say thanks for the template my Touchpad has a huge crack right down the back of the case. I've tried the x-case tpu, but the extra weight was a pain, so using your template I cut out a skin from some matt black vinyl I had kicking around. Fits brilliantly thanks again.

I received some feedback asking me to post instructions on how I made my game clip to hold my phone (Galaxy S III) to a PS3 controller (homemade or DIY Gameclip). I have posted a pdf of the instructions on mediafire and attached a 7zip file of it to this post.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?gg4lyu663854moa
I first of all would like to say I got the idea from the thread of the GameKlip and thought it was a brilliant idea and a nice product, but I didn't want to spend $30 U.S. (incl. shipping) and wait a couple weeks to get one....and I couldn't keep my case on the phone while I used it, so I made my own. Kudos to the GameKlip if you are interested in getting one.
Here's the latest Gameklip for the Galaxy s3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027611
I do love using my GameKlip... when not using my extended battery (which I have on most of the time). This will solve all! I wonder if some sort of insulation for pipe/etc could be used to further cushion the phone... hmmm.... Maybe one of the rubber coated hangers.
Either way, how did I not think of this?! I tried sheet metal and other way more complex options, lol.
I'll post my rendition of this! Hope to try it out tonight!
THANKS AGAIN!

Thank you. I have thought about something like plasti-dip ... dip the whole thing after making it...probably would just have to take into account the thickness if the coating while making it.
http://www.homedepot.com/buy/performix-brand-plasti-dip-11603-6.html#.UP1_eGdmO2U
I look forward to seeing your idea of it, please post pics. I have thought of different ways to "design" it, including having only one arm holder at the top. Making the bottom "hooks" up from the button 1 & 2 "towers" to move the phone up, etc... in the mean-time it works well for me...I hope yours does for you.
I got some Plasti-Dip at home I use on my car and thought of that as well. I got a few different ideas I'm gonna try to play with. ... Just a matter of finding time as wife and I are preparing for our firstborn. I'll definitely post pics of whatever I come up with!
possible to do a similar style but for a mini bluetooth keyboard? im having a hard time figuring out that one....
I am sure something is. I don't have a mini blue tooth keyboard. Which one do you have?
Have you seen the universal gameclip? It just sticks to a cheap case? How about a flat piece of metal stuck to case with the phone and velcro'd to the bottom of the keyboard? Could even bend it slightly if you don't want it flat?

Excellent job
That looks pretty darn snazzy. I know I would be employing the "Close enough" meme if I tried to do that.
I have been thinking of something like this but I must design a little differently as I will use it on an xbox360 controller and a 7 inch tablet.

Thanks. I will make pictures for sure. Still in the planning phase for the moment but will work on it next week.
Tried three times and failed. Baby en route, so it's on the back burner.
BTW: the rubber coated hangers SUCK to bend, rubber tears easily! Don't waste one!
I made one with 1 hook on top to hold the phone. The bend makes it act like a spring. It's easier to get the phone out of this one

3d printer
I made mine using your instructions; I strongly encourage you to get some shrink wrap tubing. It looks much better than whatever old varnish the coat hanger may have left, and there won't be glue smudging as with electrical tape.
I happened to have a slightly larger tube which I used on the hook portion. To make the tips, after having deburred with a file, I simply left some extra length, bent that backwards and finished it off with an additional short tube added in a second pass.
It is preferable to make your bends first, then work the tubing on, as pliers will most likely damage the tubing cosmetically at least.
A small black zip tie secures the mini-USB cable. Not shown in the photos, I found an old camera lanyard and added over the metal frame for some additional security.
Here are the results:
Cheers,
Darkshado
Awesome! Thanks for posting pics! I use the sixaxis app so I don't need the wires but yours looks great with them. I like the tubing too. Your are of course absolutely right about no gummy from the tape with the tubing. I bet it makes it stickier too so the phone won't slide around.

Looks awesome, I'm definitely going to attempt one myself. What diameter heat shrink did you use? (approx)
Thanks! IIRC, the smaller one was 4-5 mm, the larger 10 mm. It can always be cut and removed if the size you're using isn't working, and tubing like this is cheap.
LONG overdue but needless to say I've failed at 3 attempts. Trying to get them perfect and they snap on me. Might just try to mod one of my 1st Gen Game Klips I got laying around since I now have the 7000mAh battery to give me PLENTY of gaming!
Guys its a lot easier to buy a spider podium and wrap it and shape it to fit your phone. Worked perfectly. Only downside is that its unremovable. Just added a camera lanyard

pics?
I bought a Note 3 not so long ago quite cheap because of the fact that the phone had been dropped a few times and the bezel being plastic took a lot of the damage ( Pics below )
The screen was still almost perfect apart from one small scratch on the bottom left but that will be semi hidden when i receive a glass screen protector in the post.
Any way the bezel really bothered me as I always keep my phone in as perfect condition when I own them so it really frustrated me to see how someone could treat a phone like they had, As the chrome had gone through to the white plastic underneath in a few places I decided to use my little friend ( Sandpaper and create a white bezel ) But instead I got something in between the 2 of having chrome still and white in the bezel.
Its very hard to explain so just look for yourself
Although I couldn't mask the dent on the top right completely it is now improved massively.
Your feedback would be greatly desired.
I think you've done a good job there. Probably an irrelevant thought now but could you have bought a non functioning phone off the bay and used it as a donor for yours?

Little tip for people who are afraid of the silver on the bezel eroding: Clear nailpolish. It's a trick us women do with those cheap fake silver rings, if you put clear nailpolish over it, it erodes a lot less.

I cut up 400 grit sandpaper into small squares about the size of my finger. and run it it over the entire bezel at first and it didnt seem to touch the middle section so im not sure how lol. i then folded it when going around the home and volume button to ensure I got all of it. Put something over the display to stop it scratching of course
Might be tempted to see what the bezel looks like all white?
